When I close my eyes I remember SO MANY birthday parties at #CasaBonita. This place has forever been etched into my #Memories!! 😍 Every time family came to visit, this was most likely a place we went. You didn’t get go for the food… 🤣 If you’re from Colorado…you know the food used to be pretty bad. You went for the environment and the experience. You went for the #CliffDivers!!

Casa Bonita, meaning “Pretty House” in Spanish, opened in 1974! I didn’t know it used to be part of a Mexican food chain that first originated in Oklahoma City.

The restaurant has since attracted a cult following among Colorado residents since its opening, and is considered by many to be an iconic establishment of Lakewood and the greater Denver metropolitan area.

In 2015, Casa Bonita was designated as an #HistoricLandmark. In 2020, it was sad to see it temporarily close due to the pandemic. By 2021, its owner filed for bankruptcy. Later that year, it was acquired by #SouthPark creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. They bought the restaurant for $3.1 million dollars and paid close to $40 million to renovate it. The restaurant held a soft relaunch beginning June 23, 2023, and is now billing itself as “The Greatest Restaurant in the World!” 🥰

I’m so glad it’s still around for everyone to enjoy. I recently was able to go with my mom for lunch and we absolutely had a blast!! The food is soooo much better! I really liked the #CarnitasTacos!! We saw the cheesy #FunMagicShow, explored #BartsCave, enjoyed music by the #iconicMariachiBand, we’re mesmerized by the cliff divers, and ate all the #sopapillas we wanted!! It was awesome!! 🤩

Today, was the first time in 7 years that I could listen to our song and not cry. I packed it away in a little box for years, and today was the first time I listened to our song and felt healed.

My mind was flooded with all the happy memories. I felt calm. I felt joy and happiness.

Thank you for loving me.

Thank you for opening my eyes to something I had no clue about. I had to live through a marriage turned toxic, a divorce, and years of therapy to truly understand myself; to truly understand who I am and know what I want for my life.
