From my experience with Homological algebra, this exercise makes sense. Most of the proofs in this theory is just doing the most obvious and natural thing. You want to construct a map such that <insert some conditions>, well, there would be only one natural way to do it and most of the time it works. Yayy!
For me, the interesting part lies in it's applications ( especially in algebraic topology). Which is why people recommend reading homological algebra in the context of it's applications, rather than just the theory. It also gives motivation for a lot of definitions which otherwise would seem quite arbitrary.
But yeah, most of the theorems can be proven with a basic knowledge of algebra.

this fuc?ing excercise
(textbook is a 1971 edition of lang's algebra)
Oof, that's a whole exercise and a half. It would probably seem even worse if I was more familiar with Homological algebra (one day maybe)

learning lately that a lot of confidence is about owning up. like "yeah i'm a little addicted to my phone right now" or "yeah i'm not really over this person yet" or "yeah i still get pretty anxious in crowds" just saying anything at all but then following it up w "but i'm trying to get better" and being super nonchalant and unaffected. so powerful. you would literally be undefeatable in the face of even the most judgmental person. no one can judge you for things you already know about yourself and are trying to improve on. the trick is to know yourself from the inside out, to hold yourself accountable, and to actively improve every day. like that is literally the secret to never feeling like you're at the mercy of somebody else's judgment

If you're having trouble keeping up with what's going on in Palestine because of US news coverage of university protests, here are some articles you can read and a video you can watch:
youtube
While CNN & all the other mainstream media try to paint the university protests as "pro terrorism" (which they're not, they're literally anti-war protests.) Palestinians are being slaughtered by the minute.
Please don't stop speaking about Palestine.

Find meaning. Distinguish melancholy from sadness. Go out for a walk. It doesn't have to be a romantic walk in the park, spring at its most spectacular moment, flowers and smells and outstanding poetical imagery smoothly transferring you into another world. It doesn't have to be a walk during which you'll have multiple life epiphanies and discover meanings no other brain ever managed to encounter. Do not be afraid of spending quality time by yourself. Find meaning or don't find meaning but "steal" some time and give it freely and exclusively to your own self. Opt for privacy and solitude. That doesn't make you antisocial or cause you to reject the rest of the world. But you need to breathe. And you need to be.
Albert Camus, from Notebooks 1951-1959

I think one fun side effect of studying uni level math is that simultaneously the complex numbers start seeming simpler than you thought but at the same time the real numbers are *way* more fucked up than you thought

yes girl I think it’s incredibly sexy how indecisive you are about every single decision in your life. I also love how you haven’t let anything go since you were 12. can we make out now
