a quick guide on writing image IDs for your pride flags, as someone who uses a screenreader,

i’ll be using the bi pride flag as an example.

example ID: “a 3 striped pride flag. the uppermost stripe is magenta, the center stripe is a desaturated purple, and the end stripe is a full blue. The center stripe is thinner than the rest.”

example ID: “A pride flag with 3 stripes. It forms a gradient from magenta to blue, with a thin stripe of purple in the middle.”

use words that show position and color, first and foremost, ie:

- saturation (neon, hypersaturated / muted, desaturated)

- color descriptors (dark red, light red, full red)

- color names (lavender, peach)

don’t be too specific with color names, (ie. carmine, cinnabar, lapis) as its just a pain to process. keep in mind that someone will hear this spoken to them by an automated voice!

also, focus on line width if there’s variables, as well as position of the colors. for flags with a lot of stripes (for me thats…anything above 5 stripes. it’s just a lot to read and take in) dont describe each individual color, and instead, focus on the gradient. example: the lesbian flag

How do you make blinkies?

heya!! I use Aseprite, which is a program aimed at pixel art but it's what i'm most used to + comfortable with! i know a lot of people use generators like blinkies cafe but i prefer doing them myself because it feels more personal :]

On a 150 x 30 px canvas, I draw a simple background, or solid colors/pattern/etc., on one layer. I add any sort of text/graphics i intend to animate on another, and then i usually have a solid white border at a lower opacity to give it that sort of raised button look on the top layer.

and then I just create new frames and slightly move or change the text+images to animate them! if i include sparkles, i just draw each one at a time on each frame because it's just easier for me vs drawing it once and copy+pasting a thousand times etc.

and that's it!
