I have met multiple lovely people through this website and i am glad to have them in my life. But I am in a bad place right now, and I need to do some work on myself to get myself out of the rut that I'm in, and having this account distracting me from my thoughts is not helpful for that right now. So I am taking some time off.

If any mutuals want to dm asking for my discord ID, I'll stay logged in for a few days for that purpose. Caveat 1 to this is that while I might give it to you depending on if I feel like we have the right co-vibes, I might also say no, or I might be a coward and ghost you about it. Caveat 2 is that I am not very chatty one on one with people in general. But you are welcome to ask.

Other than that, you won't hear from karcatgirl-vantas until July 2024 at the very earliest, and, depending on how I feel then, maybe a lot longer than that.

A few months ago, I put together a neocities site. So far I've imported a few of my tumblr longposts to it. I might use it as a blogging platform, or a general random-fiction-and-nonfiction-writing platform; I might link it to other internet presences I acquire, like an Ao3 account, if I decide to get any of those; I might add some contact information to it. Or I might not. It's up in the air.

this took months to make, isn’t that admirable? this only took a few seconds to make, there’s no soul in it. this was captured in fractions of a second, aren’t moments of humanity so beautiful yet fleeting? not everyone can make art. art is a luxury commodity and not everyone can afford it. creative hobbies are so valuable for your wellbeing, humans are meant to express themselves.

Am I the only person who really likes video game bestiaries?

They make it so that all the enemies you fight have at least tiny shreds of lore associated with them; they turn the endless procession of fodder mobs from basic-gameplay-loop contrivances into notional parts of a world where stuff is going on, and they provide springboards for imagination and daydreaming. A couple of sentences can turn a collection of palette-swapped pixels with an annoying attack pattern into something that sticks in your thoughts.

I miss bestiaries.

truly annoying when people act condescending about how they don't care about "shipping discourse" because they're a Real, Mature Person and it doesn't matter in Real Adult Life. a us congressperson got called a pedophile in mainstream media for having lolicon in her twitter likes. that meets pretty much any arbitrary criteria for "real" and "mature" that you can set.

like.... it's almost like the people who exist in fandom are real people, who exist in every facet of daily life, and have interactions with the world outside of fandom. and they have consistent belief systems from which they make choices that affect the world outside of fandom. and you have to interact with fandom people, because they exist in real life, and are not going to stop existing, and therefore their actions and belief systems will affect you even if you hate fandom and never touch it.

like. you don't have to like or participate in any subculture for any reason, but it's pretty baredfacedly nasty to imply that people within that subculture inherently do not matter and the political makeup of that subculture is irrelevant in or outside of it. reactionary trends in any subculture affect the world outside of it because people don't solely exist within subcultures, and also, it's kind of shitty actually to act like people in a subculture should be okay with the people around them being reactionary fascists just because it annoys you to see them talk about it. there shouldn't be a line where it's suddenly Too Cringe to talk about rising fascist ideology because you don't want to acknowledge a group of people exists and you have to interact with them in real life lol.
