Some fic and writing prompts resources
I've seen a few people over the past week or so looking for prompts or struggling with writer's block, so I thought it might be helpful to share all of the prompt stuff I have saved in my fic writing bookmarks folder. I want to put together a more thorough post that talks about different ways to use prompts and such to help with writer's block to post to the Jeff/Annie Resources tumblr, but that's something I'm going to take some time to really craft, so I'm just going to post some of the links I have here for now.
Here are a few of tumblrs that are all about fan fic prompts

50 Item Writing Prompts
This is a fun d100 chart where you either roll a d100 or put '100' into a random number generator, and you use the keywords the given number provides to craft your story.
This is just a nice site that has 40+ writing prompts of different types
Random prompt, dialogue, line, famous quotes and first line generators are GREAT tools, especially when you're trying to use prompts to get through writer's block, whether you're using them as prompts to put into the fic, or just as a prompt of inspiration.

I don't know if prompts tables are still big these days, but they were really big in the days when livejournal dominated fandom, and they're extremely useful, whether used in the generally intended way - completing each one in order - or as a set of numbered prompts to choose from. Here are a bunch I found on livejournal.

And here are just a few random number generators. These can be used for anything from picking a random prompt number, to being given a random amount of words you have to write, to getting an episode number for a show so you can make yourself write a post-ep for it, all kinds of stuff like that.

I’m considering/kind of working on doing a project about the way the history and behavior of some ships end up being rewritten in negative ways by the rest of the fandom after the show is over. As someone who’s an OG fan of a number of ships from shows that ended years ago that either remained popular or saw a resurgence in popularity, I’ve seen this happen a number of times. The behavior of certain shipping communities being rewritten as being far more negative, aggressive, or hostile than hey actually were, the attitudes of the cast/writers/crew/etc being rewritten as being far more negative toward the ship than they actually were, stuff like that.
It’s interesting to me, and I’ve been considering doing a project on it. The main one I’ve noticed this happening with is Jeff and Annie, so I figured they’d be a good ship to start with, to kind of see how much research would really be needed, how much time I’d need to devote, etc.
The thing I’m focusing on right now is Dan Harmon’s feelings about/comments on Jeff and Annie. The primary piece of this rewritten narrative about the ship is that Harmon hates it, that he always hated it, and that he said so many times, particularly in the DVD commentaries. So I’m looking for three things:
The first is that I’m trying to find the episodes where the DVD commentaries discuss Jeff/Annie. I’d really prefer to not have to watch the commentary for every single episode in all five seasons with commentaries, so if anyone knows which ones specifically discuss Jeff/Annie, or if there are any transcripts of the commentaries, that would be probably THE most helpful thing.
The second is any comments from Dan Harmon about specifically the Jeff/Annie ship. And particularly how he feels about it/the shippers. All of it will be useful, whether he’s being negative or positive.
The third is any comments from Harmon about ships and shipping in general. I feel like any time creators/writers are talking about their feels about individual ships, it’s important to put it into the context of their overall feelings in ships and shipping. So any comments, again whether negative or positive, about how he feels about ships and shipping will be helpful.
I’ve done some searching on my own and sent a few DMs and I’ve received some links to some useful interviews, but I know there’s more out there, and I’m really hoping to be able to narrow down the DVD commentaries. So any help would be hugely appreciated.
