Task 3 - Visual Thinking
IDEA PROCESS I didn’t only wanna show which kind of unfamiliar environment makes me feel uneasy. I also want to show why it makes me feel that way. With that concept in mind I immediately connected the theme with my imagination (how my mind functions when I am in an unfamiliar location.   STORY BOARD As you can see this is a very rough story board. I wanted to portray my mind on paper during being in an un easy feeling location. A common situation where I always feel uneasy in is when I see a long tunnel without lights. As childish as it sounds, I always imagine that something is getting out to get me. Funny but true ! In unfamiliar settings my mind tend to get the best of me. After all of that imagination, I snap back to reality, look back and realise that there is absolutely nothing

APPROACH AND VISUAL TECHNIQUES I wanted to approach this assignment as personal as I could. I really wanted to show how powerful a mind can be. So I went all out on one of my biggest fears, literally ! I wanted to make the shots noticeable as possible. When you look at them you instantly start to feel uneasy and unsure of this place. I surprised myself on how I actually captured one of my biggest fears. Some shots of the hand are close ups. Close ups allow more detail and texture therefore the feeling I'm trying to portray comes across more clearer.

Typography
I decided to take this photo from a certain angle because I wanted to create a dramatic feel from behind a plant. We also get an idea of pattern , texture and typography.
Tumblr media
In this photo we see a continuation of the colour green and we also have a complimentary colour which is red. There are many implied lines and also drawn lines.
Tumblr media
I decided to use the rule of thirds for this picture where it allowed me to capture the size of the building and the long street beneath it ! We also see many implied lines which are heading to a vanishing point.
Tumblr media
This is also taken with the rule of thirds. I wanted to capture the nice light blue colour of the sky together with the colours of the sign which are red yellow green and dark blue. Therefore colour wise it became very eye pleasing. There is also a hint of texture behind the sign.

Lines
This picture has lines written all over it ! I decided to take a landscape shot of the building to capture as many lines as I could. Building wise this is quite a symmetrical picture.
Tumblr media
In the photo I wanted to emphasis more on implied lines. That metal bar doesn't necessary have lines but it has a lot of edges which makes it see like so. Those are called implied lines. So I focused on the surface area f the object.
Tumblr media
While some may think that this has nothing to do with lines, it actually has! The reason being is that I wanted to frame the people between the implied lines of the water. Also the floor tiles are quite visible to many lines. We also get a hint of texture. (floor and water)
Tumblr media
This is a long portrait of a side street. I wanted to capture as many windows and of houses I could ! This is full of implied lines and also texture. Both on walls and floor. The colours in this photo are also very eye pleasing we have the wamr colours on the buildings then nicely but by the cool blue of the sky.
Tumblr media
A portrait with a lot of implied lines and texture. Follows the rule of thirds perfectly.
Tumblr media
I decided to take this photo from this angle because I wanted to capture the light blue colour which goes well with the green and yellow of the building. Colour wise it is also eye pleasing. As you can see the amount of implied lines is huge (windows, wires crossing , doors, roads etc.). We also get a hint of texture of the building.

Texture
The reason being for this takes as portrait was to capture as many amount of texture I could ! i decided to focus on the middle collar to also create a dramatic effect. The only Issue I have with this photo is because the unfocused part (the background) is a little over exposed.
Tumblr media
I also intended to capture a dramatic effect by getting closer to the wall to create depth on the 2 sides of the main focus ! The texture of the wall is quite an aggressive one. Therefore I wanted to emphasise on it  by trying to put the only focus on it !
Tumblr media
This is probably one of the most favourite pictures I took ! I combined texture with a lot of (implied) lines ! The colours in this photo are also very eye pleasing next to each other because all of the colours are a little calm toned.
Tumblr media
The 3 following pictures are all intended to represent what texture really is ! From the many photos I took of doors I wanted the, to have that dramatic ancient look. Colour wise, the brown cuts perfectly with the dirty green which therefore the term texture stood out more. I took a direct approach for the photo where its just an upfront close up of a door !

Pattern
The colours in this photography varies along the height of the building. The higher you go the brighter it gets ! It made it stood out more because of the continues pattern the building has.
Tumblr media
Excluding the over exposed clouds, the colours in this photo are really eye pleasing ! We have the turquoise windows with the yellow colour of the buildings and also the bright blue skies. We also get a hint of pattern because of the windows and the railing beside them. Its similar in each level.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The following 2 pictures Has a combination of texture, pattern and colour! I love how the colour yellow seems to dominate the whole picture. It gives it that ancient dramatic look. We get hints of texture from the walls, patterns from the number tags and also a lot of implied lines created by the edges of the buildings and the number plate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is a mixture of pattern combined with various colours. We have the bright Yellow of the architecture’s pattern and the vibrant green of the pattern of the trees.

Visual Thinking - Task 1 - Research Photo explained
Personally, This photo for me means “Peace”. This is the time of the day where people rest and reflect on their day and have time for themselves, to think. The colours in the picture are quite de saturated, therefore it makes the mood of the picture a calm one. It follows the rule of thirds perfectly. The man is on the side of the picture. Looking space is also provided. I find this picture very balanced. One side of the picture we see the man in the light and on the other side we see the long empty road. The road also has a vanishing point where all lines are heading towards. Although one side of the picture is lit the other side has a lit part to it as well which is seen a little further away. The amount of lines in this picture is a big one. We se many implied lines like the trees and the edge of the pavements etc. Other lines are painted on the street, the zebra crossing. Overall this is a very good balanced and well proportionate photo. People who prefer this time of the day, the night, will most probably understand the meaning of the picture more than people who loves the day time. The reason being is because people can relate differently, they can understand this photo differently.
