"Sex offender" is a pretty specific, upsetting, and most of all LEGAL term, you might wanna tread more carefully in the future. There's other phrases for what you intended that are more accurate.

May I ask what you mean by taking it too far with Lucifer? And how him being "soft" could be upsetting? I have trouble seeing how a nice character being nice is upsetting.

I'm going to answer this assuming you are genuinely confused and not being an asshole.

What made people ship them?

Lucifer is the first person to make Alastor lose his composure, which is big for him.

Lucifer got Alastor to swear for the first time in the whole series with very little effort.

They have an amusing back-and-forth dynamic that is less one-sided than Alastor and Vox.

They have a whole song about who is a better dad to Charlie and people think it's funny if Charlie's "two dads" are together.

They are seemingly going to be forced to coexist in the same building, hence the memes of the "and they were roommates" variety.

Lucifer is very clearly lonely and it'd be nice to see him have someone to care for other than Charlie.

Alastor's absence of seven years coinciding with Lilith's absence is suspicious and there is much Drama to be played with there.

Enemies to Lovers is an extremely popular trope and these two were needlessly at each others throats from the first moment they were in the same room.

It's a fun and interesting dynamic that Lucifer is one of few being we know who could kill Alastor, and with very little effort too, but he also can't because Charlie likes Alastor and Charlie is the most important thing in the world to Lucifer, so they're stuck together and there's nothing they can do about it.

There isn't anyone we've seen on-screen that make a more logical pair for Lucifer. He's only on-screen interacted with people at the Hotel, leaving Angel Dust, Husk, Cherri Bomb, Niffty, and Alastor. HuskerDust is big so Angel and Husk are mostly out fandom-wise, Cherri seems to like to fuck around but also was almost a thing with Pentious, and Niffty is...unorthodox, and some mistake her for a child. All that remains is Alastor, who takes an antagonistic interest in him as soon as he arrives.

There's people who relate to one character and are interested in the other, projection is common in fandom.

People have shipped stranger for less

Alastor is ace And that says nothing about his romantic attraction or if he would have sex. It just means he doesn't experience sexual attraction. He could date, he could have sex if he wanted, and still be ace. There's also people who ship them as a queerplatonic couple, with neither sex nor romance involved. Asexuality is also a spectrum, including Greysexual (attraction is extremely rare) and Demisexual (attraction can only form after a connection is established).

Lucifer has Lilith He canonically does not. They've been divorced for quite some time, and he presumably has had no contact with her for at least 7 years. He's clearly hung up on her, but they aren't together.

Why do people make Lucifer a softy? Because he is??? Did you not hear "More Than Anything"? His major characterization is that he was once a bright dreamer much like Charlie. The biggest difference is he gave up and is extremely depressed.

And as for that other question

I actively look at RadioApple and the number of things like that I've seen I can count on one hand. And the only thing that comes to mind is a weird image of that "Cursed Cat Alastor" on top of a similar Lucifer-based creature. Which, I would point out, is a joke. An awful, tasteless joke, but unserious nonetheless. Alastor is not generally portrayed like that in the fandom. I genuinely don't know what you're talking about.

I've decided a funny interaction would be Vox seeing Alastor and Lucifer on his spy cameras together (they're literally not even doing anything they're just in the general vicinity) and doing the exact thing he told Valentino not to do by rushing over to confront them.

Vox, bursting in the doors: "YOU'RE WITH LUCIFER?!?!"

Alastor, not dealing with this: *disappears into his shadows*

Lucifer, confused: "Uhhhh....who are you?"

Vox, infuriated: "DOES HE LET YOU SEE HIS TAIL?!?"

Lucifer, even more confused. Lives with Alastor, does NOT realize that "Does the Radio Demon have a tail?" is of furious debate amongst much of the public (nor that Vox runs a reward service for anyone who can get proof of said tail). Has seen Alastor half-asleep on the couch during forced movie night without his jacket, has seen him drunk, has seen him chase Angel out of his room half-dressed, amongst other things: "Yes?"

Vox becomes so overheated that he shuts down. Charlie comes home to see Vox, passed out on the couch, with her dad anxiously standing nearby like, "Okay, I KNOW this looks bad, but this was NOT me!"

Lucifer: *Takes a shot*

Vaggie: What the-

Husk: No way.

Angel: Hohoho?

Charlie: Erm, dad?

Lucifer: Well, if he wasn't such a jackass, I'd go for it. I got eyes, you know.

Alastor: *Extremely loud, violent static*

Valentino, watching though the camera Vox has planted around the hotel: Wow, can you believe him?

Vox: Haha, yeah. Gross, right?

Vox: *Sips his drink*
