Saw this on Twitter today and the more I think about it- this person might be on to something because of the way Taylor references things to have multiple and or cagey meanings
.
Front of the Puck Building. Sure enough.
There is a Citi Bike Station right there.
Bikes lined up like a fortress
.
And look who likes to get around the city on a bike
"The hospital was a drag, worst sleep that I ever had"
If the theory that The Alchemy is from Karlie's POV is correct, this just makes it even funnier. Because who showed up at the Eras Tour post-partum? Oh, that's right. Karlie!
This line doesn't fit for any of the muses, or for Taylor, but it fits Karlie to a tee. And it's so funny. If you're a mom listening and you look at it through this lens, the line has such a dry humor to it. I can't 😂
Yes! You know I had a similar thought as a mom because the only time I’ve had time sleep at the hospital was when I had my baby. And the sleep was awful.
Karlie coming back to the 1989 era making headlines freshly postpartum - yeah it fits!
These two names are really interesting choices…they both scream Christian church-going, pearl-clutching, etc (sorry to all the Sarah’s and Hannah’s out there but as someone who grew up in an uber conservative white community this is just true)
But when I first heard the song I thought it was an interesting use of the names because they’re both biblical names so it worked nicely with the breaking free of toxic religion theme of the song.
However I did a quick google search on the bible names to refresh who these players were. There are a pathetically few number of female characters in the bible. But check this out…
I usually steer very clear of the pregnancy/miscarriage/etc stuff. I went through a very emotional and hurtful infertility journey myself and part of the pain of that was people constantly wondering and asking when we were going to have a baby.
But I will say this surprised me. That she would use the names of two women from the bible who both struggled with infertility.
I won’t speculate on how that subject plays into Taylor’s life. What I will say is I find it interesting that these are the female biblical names she chose, especially after Tree came down in a full stop against the deux moi baby rumours.
I’ll leave this one at that for now. If Taylor has experienced infertility or miscarriage or anything in that realm my heart just aches for her and hopes she finds healing for her heart. I know these struggles personally all too well.
She’s so angry at the people who aren’t listening, and continue to be oblivious to her pain. 🥺
Who’s afraid of little old me makes me so angry at the music industry, and the people who allowed her to be closeted. IM SO SORRY THEY DID THIS TO you sweetheart.
Please open the schools again!! The alchemy “a rose by any other name is a scandal” she couldn’t have been any more obvious. And they’re screaming it’s about 🏈. Like c’mon people just open the cd’s and vinyls you bought and see when that song was copyrighted just that will make things very clear.
