kinda wild how most doctors treat getting a PCOS diagnosis as an extra add on as if it’s not very helpful to know that there is actually a cause to your symptoms

mentally preparing for my first gynaecologist appointment later and love that the possibilities are possibly gaining knowledge or treatment that would completely change my quality of life or experiencing more medical misogyny and told to basically just suffer every month

#anyway guess who just got an official PCOS diagnosis after 2 full years on doctors being like ‘maybe you have PCOS?? idc tho’ #even wilder that this doctor was fully prepared to just give my the coil and leave it at that #and i had to be like ‘hey can you double check these bloods for me’ #for him to go ‘oh yeah that’s PCOS lol’ #anyway still getting the coil bc it’s my best option rn #sometimes the reality is you get the knowledge and the medical misogyny too as a little treat #but only if you advocate for yourself i guess
