there was some youtube video that got into the algorithm and got recommended to me, something about the "normalization of incest" and the entirety of the comments were ripping this guy to shreds with some calling it the least researched video theyd ever watched. i didnt actually watch it bc the comments were way funnier than anything that could be in the video, but apparently this guy was trying to claim it as an american/western trend and explicitly gave japan as an example of a country that doesnt have a substantial amount of incest in its media, among other weird pulled out the ass shit. anyways, im having a rough day but im gettin a bit of a giggle out of that at least

thinking. sladetalia as "the right thing from the wrong person". slade has all the devotion and passion that talia yearns for, but she was yearning for that from bruce, a man who could never in a million years give her that. slade could treat her better, but does she love him? does she trust him? not really. the emotional stakes are all tilted, just close enough that they could pretend, but not enough for it to be genuine. theyre a non-romantic romantic tragedy to me. neither of them are the other's first choice. falling into each other's arms, it's far from making love. and yet. and yet... they want love. they want family. their goals align, they could do great things together, but is that love? is it fulfillment, to settle for something short of the fairytale?

Context: Jason is fresh from the dead and approaches Dick who's currently trying to drink away his PTSD. Dick doesn't recognize him, and Jason uses that to his advantage to figure out what's up with him.

"I meant the bar."

"Ah. That makes more sense." Dick looks around the bar for a moment. "... I don't know why I'm looking for a clock, I don't remember what time I got here."

"That doesn't bode well."

Jason barely stops himself from choking on his drink before he responds.

"I- No. Neither of those. I just thought you looked lonely." It's not the best excuse, but it's better than leaving Dick to assume the alternatives.

"That's a lame reason." Dick responds, reiterating what Jason knows.

i was trying to figure out what white tie events even are and stumbled upon the fact that debutante balls still exist and are not in fact just a weird thing from the 1800s that in the modern world exists solely in historical romantic fiction.

anyways this seems like smth someone should write about, fem dick being presented to high society, probably bc bruce said she has to. the one im reading about rn has the ages for being accepted into the ball as 17-21 and... overlaps well with when dick ran away and became nightwing. hear me out guys
