This is Luz getting to play Grudgby at Hexside with her girlfriend all over again AFTER the finale, after the pain and trauma, in the years leading up to the epilogue. I think that the turning point for Anya is here. You'll notice her "realization" expression carries over in the next panel. She read Damian's mind, and she realized he is just like her. He loves his father so much, he just wants to impress him. And isn't that exactly what she's trying to do right now? That's why she trusts him with her secret. He's the only person who would ever understand .
