I’m so exhausted by the whole ‘Nick hates rwrb’ discourse, some people ought to touch grass. Had he hated it, why would he even agree to sign on for the sequel? I’m sure he’s had a ton of offers to do something different, and yet he chose to portray Henry once again, even though it might put him back into typecasting territory he’s trying to break out of. At the panels, when he spoke of rwrb (the story and the character), he was oozing fondness, and he’s clearly getting on w Taylor well. As for his not posting about the sequel announcement, has it not occurred to y’all that he’s most likely under contractual obligations to promote M&G and the Idea of You? Considering the latter is another Prime project that only came out 10 days ago, Nick posting about rwrb would definitely put it in the back corner. People harassing him on his socials and calling him a homophobe (yes, you heard that right) only achieves taking out the enjoyment of making something wholesome and beloved by many.

As for the subtangent harassing him bc he’s straight but portraying a queer character, I am of the opinion that ‘only queer people should play queer roles’ is essentialist, and will mostly result in detrimenting queer actors. 1) to be viewed as validly queer by the chronically online folk, people would have to be open about their sexuality, and they don’t owe you that; 2) it’s inherently reductive and will put LGBTQ+ actors in a pigeon hole of only being cast for queer roles, since the flip side of the coin is ‘only straight people portray straight people’. I, for my part believe, that what matters most is the chemistry on screen rather than the actor relating irl to the experience they’re portraying. Nick and Tay have chemistry and charm aplenty :) instead of advocating for ‘only queers play queers’, I suggest we advocate for more diverse queer projects instead, how about that?

I made a little RWRB zine based on the movie! All illustrations done by me :) A zine is a short book which can be informative, a story or anything

every time i blissfully forget why i hate aspects of fandom, i am swiftly reminded: some people truly are sick and need to touch some grass (more like be dragged through it). case in point: not separating the actor from the character and harassing their alleged partner online. i have seen so many vitriolic comments under the insta photos of Nick’s alleged girlfriend, it’s genuinely upsetting.

(i) Nick is a grown man and does not require anyone’s endorsement for his dating life?? like, is that not obvious?? andddd you’re just reinforcing the stereotypes surrounding teenage fangirls🎀

(ii) you do not like this young woman? fine, but why spew your hatred onto her socials? she runs her accs, she fuxking sees it, pls have a shred of human decency

honestly, some ppl simply seem to have no life outside of fandom and are therefore ruining it for everyone else🥲 idk about you, but i was raised with the mantra ‘don’t have anything nice to say? then don’t say anything out loud’ and i think ppl should adhere to it on the internet bc GOD
