a/n: So this is based on the song In the Bedroom Down the Hall which was a deleted track from Dear Evan Hansen. I was listening to the song and it just gave me this idea and I went with it. I hope you enjoy it! Honestly I don’t really know if I can call this a george x reader because it is a lot of just the Weasleys grieving so thats why its tagged as Fred x reader too. 

warnings: Incredibly angsty, mentions of death and the war

You really. really missed the burrow. It had been so long since you’ve seen the comforting building. Going into hiding during the war meant no contact with friends for the longest time. At the worst times, you held tightly to the memories at the burrow. All the warm meals and laughter. The summer nights spent with George under the stars and on the grass. It was the only thing that kept you going, it gave you hope. 

Your grip on the cardboard box tightens as the burrow comes into view. A flurry of emotions fills your heart as you step close. If you only you were here under better circumstances. The war had ended a few months ago and while Voldemort was defeated it came with a heavy price for the Weasley family. 

The death of their son Fred. 

George was a mess, there was no sugar coating it. The loss of Fred had completely wrecked him. He refused to leave Fred’s body after the war was over, wanting one last goodbye. Even at the funeral, he sat in the front of the crowd, tears streaming down his face as he listened to people talk about Fred. A part of him wanted to lash out in anger over the whole thing but he just gripped your hand tightly and let the tears flow. 

A rush of guilt washes over you as you see the other Weasleys through the window. You hadn’t really spent much time with them since the war. George couldn’t bear being at the burrow and you were grieving yourself. Other than a few letters back and forth with Molly, you had no clue how the other Weasleys were grieving. It couldn’t be easy for them either.
