Gotta ask, since I’m assuming Branch’s hair would not be healed by the time Brozone gets back together, how would the bros react to what happened to him? I already imagine “You’re half of me now” Poppy is more protective over Branch than canon Poppy, so I can see the bros being horrified at the state of their baby brother’s trauma.

I hadn’t actually thought much beyond the first movie, but you’ve opened floodgates and now I can’t stop thinking about it. I imagine by band together his hair would have healed but still been fairly short and choppy (Branch wouldn’t let anyone near it with a sharp object for a long while) JD would probably miss this entirely cononcially he steamrolls most of Branch’s conversations with him so I doubt he’d give much thought to hair changes. Maybe even the others too as they’ve all got drastically different hairstyle to what they had as kids, and Branch wouldn’t be telling them shit. But I do think Branch’s trauma over the trollstice events would linger more obviously and between his weird caution around his hair and nerves around the larger species like the islanders and ofc the rageons being more prominent they’d pick up on something having happened with it in the past, just not exactly what. Same as him being grey ig, there’s hints and stories but he’s not going to tell them outright.

Oh the wonderful angst opportunities of Bruce working in a restaurant with his wife and other big folk would be very fun to explore. And ofc I adore protective Poppy, and I imagine her more protective side coming out more against the brothers, they are in for a long long talk.

I also like to think post band together Clay and Branch could potentially bond over hair damage, as there’s no way the putt putt’s have healthy hair that’s some serious frizz.

as for reactions when they do find out:

Clay would be horrified but probably to least likely to react drastically, considering he’s lived with putt putt and feared the worst of Bergens for years. JD brimming with guilt, this guy is an untapped vat of it. He’s probably had some hair accidents on the trail and knows the pain it must have been, combined with the whole kidnapped and betrayed thing yeah he’s feeling that big brother failure right in the guts.

Not sure about Floyd , but probably something similiar. Lots of hugs and offers to talk and listen, none of which I think branch would take up but he appreciates the gesture.

Bruce would probably freak out, dad mode overprotection. Eventually he’s chill out but not until he’s stocked and read up on every medical and healing text he can, and offered up any and all things he can think of that would help Branch’s hair grow back healthy and the same as before it was chopped.

Ablaze and John Dory

These are just some snippets of my Ablaze and John Dory headcanons that are scattered around the Trolls Discord.

Ablaze despises BroZone and he doesn't even try to hide it. The second they're off the stage after their reunion show with BroZone at Vacay Island all happy pretenses are dropped.

John Dory, the overzealous and oblivious bastard that he is, comes up to Ablaze and claps him on the shoulder to compliment his performance but before he can even get a word out Ablaze snarls and shrugs him off with a harsh "Don't touch me."

JD only has time to look affronted and open his mouth to retort before Ablaze stalks off to go throw his arm over Branch's shoulders and ruffle his hair- which Branch will not let John do- with a bright smile and an "Amazing as always, B." on his tongue.

Thus began the rivalry.

Ablaze and John Dory fight a lot, obviously, even if it's in the most petty ways that can fly under the radar. Ablaze will hold the door for everyone but John Dory, John Dory will invite every other member of Kismet except Ablaze out with BroZone, etc. One day, after John Dory does something else stupid and petty like give only Ablaze "constructive criticism" on his performance Ablaze just leans in, looks John Dory dead in the eyes, and says "I will be there for him long after you're dead in the ground." and just walks away.

And just for fun take a little snippet that will be written into a Familiar and New chapter or maybe even it's own story somewhere down the line:

John Dory is still talking but Ablaze can't hear the vitriol spewing from his bastard mouth over the battle cry his heart was pounding in his ears. Who the hell did this troll think he was to barge into their space and attack one of their own? Branch's shoulders are rising up to meet his drooping ears and he has this haunted and scared look on his face that only feeds into the volcanic fury burning through Ablaze's veins.

"I don't even know why I try with you," John Dory hisses, pinching the bridge of his nose, and Branch makes this wounded noise deep in the back of his throat. Ablaze sees red. With an outraged snarl he lunges over the couch and tackles John Dory to the ground, uncaring of the startled cries that ring out around him. He reels his fist back and slams it into the bastard's face, relishing in the crack he feels beneath his knuckles. John Dory flails, unprepared, and Ablaze uses the opportunity to hit him again, and again, and again and a sick pleasure sparks in his gut at the sight of John Dory's face getting progressively bloodier.

Arms scramble for purchase on his shoulders, his vest, even tangling desperately into the hair at the nape of his neck but Ablaze fights against their hold and struggles to get a few more hits in. No one gets to talk to his band like that. He'll be damned if he sits back and lets John Dory open his vile mouth to say one more twisted criticism to his little brother. Branch was his.

"'Blaze!" Branch's panicked voice cuts through the rage and he finally lets the paws drag him away from John's trembling body with a low growl

i really loved your writing and just jumping off that last anon to say i love the way that creek is written too! i never understood his redemption when from the beginning he reads as such a passive bully, from his very first line in the movie and i think you very much did him justice.

also jumping off the other anon i was picturing branch's hair both shorter and down. i always pictured the reason why pop troll hair grows up like that to be based off its strength/assumed nerves that other types of trolls don't really have, and if the hair is damaged its ability to move/hold strength would be too. but who knows! thanks again for your writing :)

Hi I read your latest chapter of iritf (which I love ❤️ by the way) and I legit thought Branch died and I'm almost to tears and then you hit with Poppy reviving him with her tears and my mind goes straight to Rapunzel healing tears which is sooooo wholesome and I'm glad the whole family reunited again ❤️❤️❤️

hi!!! I’m sorry for the late replay I may have forgotten I made a tumblr so I’m really sorry for that, but tysm!!! im so happy people enjoyed the last chapter (and also maybe cried which is a win). Poppy’s rapunzel tears were not meant to be rapunzel tears but enough people mentioned it now and I can’t get the idea out of my head so her tears are healing now apparently XD
