something to remember when writing characters who use they/them pronouns:

an issue i see a lot in various excerpts when using the singular they pronoun is unintentional pluralization! changing ‘themself’ to ‘themselves’ isn’t grammatically correct when referring to a singular they-using character

instead of saying ‘they took it upon themselves to help’, say ‘they took it upon themself to help’

instead of saying ‘they themselves were well known in the area’, say ‘they themself were well known in the area’

instead of saying ‘they did it by themselves’, say ‘they did it by themself’

thank you for reading! the singular they is not ungrammatical, but the way some authors use it is, and it’s important to use it as correctly as you would any other pronoun

you know what’s Not Cute. giving actors half-scripts with only their lines, redacted pages, fake scripts, multiple scripts, barring them from being on set for certain scenes…… just to avoid the possibility of spoilers or letting them have the full picture…… they are professional actors. maybe like… idk… let them do their job…? studio execs/writers/directors love having choppy-looking scenes with sloppy editing and a bunch of confused faces accompanying ill-prepared reactions FOR WHAT. authenticity? a funny story to tell jimmy kimmel about later? no baby. it’s time to stop

btw this isn’t the extent of the horrors white supremacists will enact. the real horrors will start as they return to their communities with the high of having broken into the fucking capitol with guns and bombs and having been protected by the police and the president. the real horrors will be enacted on poc and Black ppl specifically now that white supremacists know they can do whatever the fuck they want with guaranteed protection, they will not be enacted on congressmen. it’s not your politicians you have to worry about. pelosi will be just fine.
