wanted to add that Ignis' exact words from the "bad end" of Verse 2 are "死にたくない" --literally, "I do not want to die." period.

he does not mention Noctis at all; he is referring to himself.

and on the subject of Ignis' sacrifices (since i'm still thinking about it), in the original Japanese version of Verse 2, if you get the bad ending, Ignis doesn't say "I don't want to die without him..." he only says "I don't want to die..." almost as if he's realizing his life could have had meaning after it's too late.

and then there's THIS random bit of dialogue that shatters my soul:

Ignis Scientia deserved better.

#someone once tried to debate me that the phrase could have an ambiguous meaning and refer to a subject other than one's self #after reading two different translations by two different people AND doing my own research i have not found that to be the case #also guess what they shipped. so like. i doubt their perspective was accurate here #truly sorry that your gross stepcest fantasies are not working out for you but can we refrain from lying at least?? lol

I often see trauma validated for those whose parents got divorced and yes, that trauma is completely valid. But I just want to stop and say that if your parents didn’t get divorced but probably fucking should have, any trauma from that is equally as valid

#i wish my mother had divorced my father because it would have prevented so much pain #if she had chosen to leave him instead of continuing to let him drink and abuse us and make horrible financial decisions #then that's something that i--as an adult--would have been able to look back on and appreciate #because i would be able to do so with the maturity and understanding that my mother had done what she did in order to protect us #even if i hated her at the time i would have had the capacity to understand once i was older #but instead #my mother chose to stay with my father and to this day she refuses to accept that she is a victim and that he is an abusive man #instead of putting a stop to it she decided to repeatedly forgive him and stay with him for all those years #while myself and my brother (and our pets) suffered his physical emotional and verbal abuse for nearly two decades #in those two decades i developed severe CPTSD and now in my 30s i struggle every day with my mental health #because my mother chose her love for my father over my safety #so i actually do wish she had divorced him #i would love to have been traumatized by that instead

The 'rude/demanding' tone would be stuff along the lines of "if you like but don't reblog I'll [threat]" which i see surprisingly often, both serious and more silly

#i will not reblog it if the OP demands reblogs #especially when the language is rude and guilt-trippy #this goes for ANY post not just art posts #i also disagree that likes do nothing--i personally appreciate them even when people don't reblog because it shows they read it and cared #demanding gets you nowhere and each person's blog is their own space #i will not reblog something that i don't want in my space

every time i start to feel cringe for being too deep in the hyperfixation i remember the intense depression i have waded through and have to remind myself that enjoyment is fleeting (so grab it with both hands), and life is for loving (so hold that love close), and if anyone thinks i’m cringe they must not be having a very good time (and i hope they can find a good time soon).

also: now that i've been reading FFXV doujinshi, i've noticed that Japanese artists tend to put traditional Japanese things on Ignis specifically, like in this picture i posted the other day, where Ignis is the only one of the four wearing a traditional Japanese wedding dress

it's actually funny to me, how many "obviously Japanese" things they put on Ignis

first off, his beloved Ebony:

then there's the fact that he originally wielded a katana, his "specialty dish" is sushi, and Older Ignis walks around looking like a stereotypical Japanese street thug with his pompadour

Ignis is Japanese.

#and half the fandom sees him as a white british man because of the english localization #which was a poor choice at best and straight-up whitewashing at worst #ignis scientia #JapaneseIgnis

This a a reminder to not fall victim to the sunk-cost fallacy. Just because you invested time and energy into something, does not mean you should indefinitely waste more time and energy on it, if you decide it’s not what you want anymore. This goes for anything, from books, to relationships, to jobs, to hobbies, etc.

If it’s not serving you anymore, move on.
