most people watch the x files because they either want to see aliens or watch mulder and scully kiss. coincidentally the x files is a show that is well known for avoiding showing us aliens at all costs and also not letting mulder and scully kiss.
just so u all know. if i ever run into misha collins (actual possibility (i live in LA)) i do plan on giving him an official pass to say faggot. purely because i think he might be the funniest possible person To give that to. the unbearable weight he would feel.... on his heterosexual shoulders......
i'm not a beatles rpf "fan" really like i firmly believe some gay shit was happening but i'm not a fan in the sense that it brings me no joy. i know the truth but i don't like it.
When the morality and politics of the response to campus demonstrations won't speak to certain people, go for the economics. During campus demonstrations near me, a local community event was cancelled because apparently every single cop in the county needed to go stand around at the encampment. They did almost nothing except stand there with riot gear and try to intimidate students into leaving.
(In liberal communities where college kids beat up on the news wouldn't go over politically, that's the whole game: intimidation. Chicken. Make it look like the cops are about to hurt or kill them without doing anything.)
The economic reality is that we paid over a hundred cops overtime to do literally nothing. This one night when they cancelled the event, they probably spent upwards of two hundred thousand dollars. For what? In what world is that a responsible use of our taxpayer money?
Like it or not, that's an argument that will get you infinitely more traction than wading into ethics with someone who thinks it's morally fine to pepper spray a kid for chanting "Free Palestine!"
This has just been playing on my head in a loop as I watch these protests
hey um are you guys seeing that columbia is threatening to bring in the national guard?
for those of you who don’t know, there were protests in the 1970s on us college campuses against the Vietnam War. At Kent State University, they called in the national guard, who massacred the protesting students.
This is an eerily similar chain of events. It’s mind-boggling that the US is so committed to imperialism that they would rather kill their own citizens than stop killing foreigners. More than that, that they would do so multiple times over, decades apart.
I hope I’m wrong and that the students will be okay. My thoughts are with them, just as my thoughts are always with the people of Palestine.
Cyclops gets such a rough deal man. imagine having brain damage that caused you to uncontrollably shoot laser blasts out of your eyeballs destroying everything in sight that you had to worry about literally 24/7 and also you had to supervise teenagers throwing cars at each other because your father figure and his ex are taking leftist infighting to the streets and also on top of that whenever you show any amount of concern over this situation people are like "jeez what a buzzkill. loosen up control freak. why can't you be all chill and cool like wolverine" meanwhile wolverine is having his amygdala forcibly removed by the us military for the third time this month
TWO HOURS AGO: an incredible photo taken by a ut austin student capturing something deeply poetic in my opinion, a line of state troopers eagerly waiting to arrest student protesters standing just behind a sign that reads "what starts here changes the world. its starts with you and what you do each day."
the way sam broke the cycle by having one single kid and instantly having a vasectomy. the joys of only-childhood be upon you my child you're not going through what i did
