guys im so fucking upset,, i looked up what marat’s chinese year thing was and,, it wasnt year of the rat,,,,
i then ended up looking up various frev figures’ years and:
Marat was year of the pig (1743)
Danton was year of the rabbit (1759)
Robespierre was year of the tiger (1758)
Desmoulins was year of the dragon (1760)
Saint-Just was also year of the pig (1767)
im not actually 100% sure any of this is right so please don’t bully me if it’s not!

do you have/know of a big masterpost of preparing/getting your shit together for the LSAT/law school?? love your blog btw thanks for bringing me good info and lots of laffs
Hey!
I never quite had to make a “masterpost” for that…so I guess, here it is!
1) The LSAT - take a free practice test from one of the companies, determine how you do under timed conditions. Take a prep course if you feel like you need to. Keep taking it until you are at the score you want. Retake the same sections (that you’ve already done) again and again to see patterns and get used to them.
2) The Admissions Process - You’re basically looking at something a little like the college application process, except instead of the SAT/ACT you submit your LSAT score. Most law schools do not have interviews. The only thing that requires a lot of time is getting recommendation letters in time, so scope out your professors and other people who can write for you. Your personal statement matters a lot less than it does for college - it really comes down to your LSAT and GPA, even now. Most law schools have rolling admission starting as early as September/October, so get your applications in as EARLY as possible because they will stop admitting people once they fill their class. If you take your LSAT early, you might get some fee waivers. These add up and can really help. But don’t fall for schools that send you waivers last minute, right before the application deadline, since they’re only looking to reject you so that they can boost their acceptance rate numbers. True story. I’ve been rejected from schools that gave me fee waivers based on data they already had (LSAT and GPA).
3) Choosing a Law School - If you get into a high-ranking school, and can go, go. Nobody is going to care that you got a full ride to a low-ranking school- they will only care where you went to law school. It’s not to say the education you get will be better. But your law school name is something that everyone will be looking at and asking about for the rest of your entire legal career, something that has to stay on your resume forever. If you get into a fancy school and can go by way of student loans, family help, etc., then absolutely do go to the fancy school over a lower-ranking one.
And don’t make the mistake of thinking that you will automatically be at the top of your class if you go to a school that you consider beneath you. Law school grades are curved, and some people are just better at law school exams than others. Everyone at a T14 school had a high GPA and/or high LSAT score, yet there are people who fail there. There are people who have straight A’s at a shitty school, because well, duh. So you’re taking a gamble to begin with. If you’re gambling, might as well gamble at the better law school where you’re likely to still land a job even if you’re not at the top of the class.
A quick word about waitlists - law schools waitlist like no other. Some of these waitlists extend to the summer, sometimes even orientation week. Stay on them if you’re waitlisted for better schools. Keep letting them know you’re interested.
4) Preparing for 1L - no prep is really needed. Once you get in, spend as much time as possible doing everything BUT anything related to the law. But if you’re so antsy that you’ll drive yourself crazy if you do nothing, Google some classic “1L cases” and give them a read before you go. Having read them before will help with understanding and will buy you some time when you’re feeling overwhelmed.
