Don't even know what a foam roller is! Can we get a link?
Vibrating foam rollers
Did you know these existed! We certainly did not, but boy howdy are they are level up from traditional rollers. Not only do you get that nice rolling action, but you get some relaxing and massaging vibes.
These tools seem to start in the $50 range, so they aren’t quite as accessible as their non-buzzing counterparts. But absolutely worth it for the roller-loving spoonie!

people who don’t experience chronic pain will never understand what it’s like to expect to be in pain for the rest of your life.
you don’t understand what it’s like to have to take your pain and your limitations into account when searching for housing or employment.
you don’t understand what it’s like to quit a job or an activity you love bc it’s exacerbating your pain levels.
you don’t understand what it’s like to send the “sorry, gotta cancel” text to the same friend four days in a row because your pain is just too intolerable.
you don’t understand what it’s like to have to choose between leaving early (again) or suffering through something that will cause you hours or days or weeks of increased pain.
you don’t understand what it’s like to have your accommodations/self-advocacy/self-care viewed as laziness or rudeness or apathy.
i don’t know where i’m going with this exactly but basically living with chronic pain is really hard, shout out to people who deal with chronic pain, and if you don’t then please be understanding toward those of us who do, please assume we are doing our best, because taking care of ourselves often has to come before anything else

Facebook bans promotion of UK’s largest disability page because “some people see disability as disturbing”
“Ability Access is the UK’s largest disability page with over 12,000 followers and often goes viral. This week is no exception, with it reaching an audience of over 5 million people and 1.5 million interactions.
“Earlier this week, Ability Access, was blocked from inviting people to like the page after getting over 3000 new likes.
“Scheduling a call with Facebook Marketing Team to resolve this issue, we asked why we had been blocked and their reply is shocking and possibly discriminatory.
“In a recorded conversation the operator who is a marketing expert at Facebook said: ‘You will have to understand that some people see disability as disturbing, you will have to think about it like that.’
"The operator then went on to say ‘I have never come across a page that promotes disability.’
"Simon – ‘So, to promote my page, I need to go through customer service again, because I have been banned from promoting my page on disability.’
"Operator ‘Yes, yes.’”
(Source which includes a recording of the phone call)
So apparently Facebook’s official stance is that nobody wants to look at disabled people and they wouldn’t want to be horrible to their users by making them look at disabled people.
Facebook would just like disabled people to disappear, and if we won’t quietly fade away on our own, they’re going to ban us.

Well that's definitely always the point of efforts to use a less stigmatized label. To magically whisk away your specific pain. And that isn't you missing the point AT ALL.
Every time someone tries to change the word disabled to be more “positive”, somehow my every present pain doesn’t go away. Shocker.

I’m not sorry for being sick. It’s not my fault. It’s not a failing. I have nothing to apologize for.

it’s so strange to be chronically ill and have really Not Good things happen to your body all the time and you’re just like “here we go again”
“mom, my pupils are different sizes again” “mom, my kidney hurts again” “mom, one of my toes turned white again” “mom, I’m having heart palpitations again” “mom, I’m having my fourth fever of the day” “mom, I feel dizzy and unmoored from reality again”
like the first time it was a bit alarming, now it’s just a wheel spin of what fucky shit will it be today

Shoutout to the people who:
-have symptoms that aren’t visible to others
-are able to function even while in extreme pain
-hide their illness well
-who don’t “seem sick”
-who have flareups at night or other times when no one else sees
-fight a daily battle that others can’t see
-feel like they’re making too big of a deal out of their illness because “it could be worse!”
I see you out there, I feel you, you’re awesome.

able-bodied people don’t seem to realise the nuances of disability, they look at it as such a black and white issue when it’s really not. like, i don’t need a wheelchair in the sense that i can’t physically use my legs and i don’t need a walking stick in the sense that i would fall over without one. but i do need a wheelchair in the sense that it could make the difference between my being bed-bound for a day and being bed-bound for a week and i do need a walking stick in the sense that using one today might enable me to do more tomorrow. disability and chronic illness aren’t black and white; using things out of necessity can mean a lot of different things for a lot of different people.
