When missionaries do humanitarian work it should be unrelated to evangelizing. Someone should be able to use their aid without having to participate in religious activities.

But I do believe that religion is important, and as long as the service(loving your next) comes first and the service(spreading the word) comes second or doesn't come at all it's all okay. For the actions should BE the words to be spread.
