The idea of dragons in modern times is so fun because imagine a hot summer day on your vacay and go to use the hotel pool and staff is like "valued guests we regret to inform you that the pool area is out of service at the moment, we apologize for the inconvenience"

And people like "wtf why" looking out their hotel room window and there's this. This dragon just curled up in the pool chilling, literally, cooling itself down

Some of the staff are trying to gently shoo him away and the dragon does a soft little "rrrrrr" like a grumpy cat and a warning puff of smoke and they're like "fuck it i don't get paid nearly enough for this" and no ones using the pool today sorry!

i was a bit confused when brennan created mary ann, the most autistic d20 npc since ayda aguefort, and described her as being his "homage to real teenagers" as if she represents the average teen experience... then i remembered his only frame of reference for teens is being a camp counselor at larp camp and possibly seeing posts about dropout dot tv and everything clicked into place.

as examples:

i used to hate oatmeal. like genuine "i need to spit this out so i don't gag" aversion to it. i tried it twice as a kid and cried each time because i ended up still hating it. then one day when i was 17 i had a couple teeth removed before i started invisalign and when i got home i told my sister, "i really want oatmeal. idk why but i do. please make me oatmeal." and from that day i have loved oatmeal

i also used to really hate fatty meat. when i was a kid and my dad made steak, my parents always put an extra napkin next to my plate because i was notorious for spitting out any cut of meat that had the tiniest bit of fat on it. HOWEVER about a month ago (and i am now 25, so this has been LITERALLY THE WHOLE 25 YEARS OF MY EXISTENCE UNTIL NOW), my dad made these really banger pork ribs and they had a lot of fat on them. i said eff it let me try this, ended up being delicious? so then i kept seeking out fatty bits of meat to test it and yeah, i've had like a sudden 90% success rate in liking it. the other 10% we don't talk about

#I used to hate tomatoes #I don't know if it counts because I still wouldn't just bite a tomato #but if i get a chicken sandwich or somethin with one on there i do actually enjoy it now? #i dont know when that happened but in concert with other things just an uncooked slice of tomato is nice #not on burgers though. ruby burgers are just ketchup and pickles and cheese from now until the end of time #if you put bacon on my burger i'll kill you
