《 Spark 》
[Boothill (HSR) x GN! Reader]
Boothill is a leaked char, but no story spoilers. Just his general vibes from the leaked pics I saw.
Very short too lol, I'm trying to get my motivation back for the dr ratio fic
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Ouch, can't ya' be a bit gentle, Spark?"
Your brows furrowed at the remark and nickname. The sound of mechanical parts malfunctioning is heard clearly, all due to the work of your hands.
"For the last time, I'm not a fucking mechanic. You just keep on insisting I fix you up," you scoffed, but still trying your best to somehow fix his arm. "And what does Spark even mean?! I told you I don't know any of your slang."
Boothill laughed, "why don't you ask your family fellas?"
The half cyborg could see the shudder that went down your spine as you attempted to fix his robotic arm. "They'd kill me. Even touching you would make me lose my upcoming projects."
"Ya' wound me, Spark..." Boothill remarked, feigning a wound on his heart, despite him placing his hand on his right chest.
The sentiment made your roll your eyes, going back to the task at hand.
Both of you remained in a blissful silence after, your whole focus on Boothill's arm, not even realizing the pair of grey eyes staring at you under the shadow of his hat.
A small chuckle escaped his lips, 'a sight better than any dreams,' he thought. Shamelessly staring at you, leaning back against the chair and enjoying his view.
Your focused face brought him glee. The way your lips pout as another error came up in your attempt to fix his arm, the brief moment where he could see stars in your eyes, only to be shrouded in dissapointment once more as another failure struck.
He relished in your... everything. The way you agreed to help him despite knowing barely anything about his robotic parts made his heart melt, knowing that you just want to help him.
Just looking at you made him giddy inside, the thought that you're touching his arm can motivate him to fight the entire Bloodhound Family on his own.
He didn't care if he got roughed up in the fight, any losses he might've gotten in any fight is a win if it means he'll be seeing this.
Before he knew it, you noticed his gaze fixed on you. "Your sharp-ass teeth isn't making the staring comforting..."
Hearing that made the latter laugh again, taking off his hat and using it to cover his mouth, but his vision still locked onto you. "This' better, Darlin'?"
The sudden nickname made you stop in your track, Boothill's frustrating smirk hidden behind the hat. With a scoff, you grabbed his hat, throwing it right at his face before standing up from the chair.
"Fix this arm by yourself. I'm heading back to the Golden Hour," you spat out, dropping the tools on the table, walking over to the glowing blue 'pond' that became the entrance to the dreamscape.
"What? A nickname ruffled ya' up?" Boothill teased, seeing you lay down and close your eyes. His words were met with a middle finger coming from you, right before you drifted off to the dreamscape. The furrowed and irritated face turned into a peaceful slumber.
Seeing you asleep, Boothill sighed, wearing the hat back on his head. Mechanical sounds could be heard from his arm, and a few moments later; he stretched the robotic arm, as if nothing was wrong in the first place.
He walked over to you, making sure you were truly sleep.
The cold mettalic hand went to your face, moving away the strands of hair on your face.
He smiled, his sharp teeth showing faintly beneath the smile. "Good dreams, Spark," he murmured softly.
"... one day I'll tell you what it means."

Clear Skies
(Neuvilette x gn!reader)
A series of unfortunate events that ended happily
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The entire day, clouds above Fontaine are as dark as the abyss. Every second, it threatens to rain, but no waterdrops would fall. The water level is always on everyone's mind, if it keeps raining then the water would soon engulf the world.
Even after all those risks; Neuvilette couldn't help himself.
Just this morning, his first trial for the day imprisoned an innocent person, caused by the defendant's lack of evidence. The Oratrice didn't spare any mercy, seeing the defendant as a guilty party. Of course, the audience clapped as they spouted insults at the defendant.
Neuvilette held in the sadness he felt, since he had to deal with another trial after.
The sheer guilt he felt crept up his spine the whole day. Eating him alive when he tried to get some work done. It's something he couldn't do much other than investigate, but he felt an undescribable uncomfortableness in his heart. All of that, with an added weight of his past trials; past sins; past atrocities.
When his worm was finally over, he was comforted at the reminder of a picnic date you two have been planning for weeks. His busy schedule made it close to impossible to have any in-the-moment dates, usually disturbed by a sudden trial that Furina held or the abundance of paperwork.
You could see the stars in his eyes as you two talked on the waterbus, an excited tone and a happier smile making it a wonderful moment. Neuvilette was happy! Seeing you and going on a date, what could be better?
.... only for hilichurls to wreck your picnic date location.
In the end, he held onto the basket filled with treats you both prepared beforehand. In the aftermath of the fight, it caused some of your food to be thrown into the ground, some of the equipment broken, and the spot now ruined.
You can already see the disappointment on his face as you both walk down the hill. The sky darkened with each steps, and any attempts in making him cheer up didn't work.
The mood soured as you felt raindrops hitting your skin. In a frantic moment, you looked for an umbrella that the two of you packed. The water kept dampening your clothes until you finally found it. Though when you do, realization hits
...you brought the wrong umbrella, this one can only fit one person. Neuvilette looks at you and the umbrella, already connecting your concerned face and the object in your hand.
Neuvilette felt guilty for causing the rain, and for the added stress for you. Even so, the guilt worsened the rain.
...that is until he felt you giving him the open umbrella. Confused, he took it anyway. Then a pair of strong hands under his thigh, lifting him up to the air and carrying him down the hill as if it's the easiest thing. His long legs were still wet from the rain, but his body and head were protected.
'??????????'
He felt so loved, protected, all the warmth feeling you can imagine hitting him at once. The grasp on the basket he's holding tightened as he could feel his face getting warm. A part of him wanted to struggle since he thought that he would be too heavy and you would accidentally hurt yourself carrying him. Though, when Neuvilette sees you looking fine, he can't bring himself to say it.
"Sorry, I'll put you down when we get to a safe spot." No, don't put him down. He felt like an otter being ecstatic after it was freed from a cage, given a shell to play with.
Slowly, light began to shine through the dark clouds. You looked up the sky, and somehow, the rain had stopped. Fontaine's weather really is strange these days...
Seeing as there's no more need of an umbrella, you stopped walking as you wanted to let Neuvilette back on the ground. But you didn't; as you saw his pretty face, all red and flustered.
Safe to say, there were a lot of gossip regarding whether or not they just saw Monsieur Neuvilette being held in his lover's arms like a princess.

GEPARD LANDAU
Meeting new people and creating bonds is like second nature for the crew of the Astral Express. As a part of that family, it's hereby natural for you to do the same. Friends, or even enemies, are common to make; lovers are rare though. When Himeko suggested the youngsters of the Express should go out and bond, she didn't think it'll end up in romance.
Neither you and Gepard fell at first sight, it was closer to falling at first fight, or second to be even more specific. You definitely caught his eye when taking a small tour of Belobog. March 7th is the walking ball of energy; Dan Heng is smart and composed, the grey-haired trailblazer is... trash loving; and to him, you were like the older sibling who keeps everyone in check.
In addition, you seemed interested in his explanation of Belobog's history, the sentence being supported by your volunteer work for Belobog's museum a couple weeks after.
The next time you two met, you threw hands with him. He fought and believed in Cocolia's words, even fought against his sister for it. Yet in the end, he was knocked some sense into and was defeated.
When he saw you fight, something seemed to click like a lightswitch in him. Even if he was blocking you to your goals, you didn't want to hurt him. It end up hurting like hell, yeah, but it didn't leave any marks or cause even worse injuries.
He could see that you held back, and something about that weighed in maybe he was in the wrong. How could someone as gentle as this, be inclined to destroy the last city that exist?
After that, it was like a snowball falling from the top of a mountain until he's hit with the realization that yes; Gepard Laundau is falling for you. The Express didn't leave for awhile, and he finds himself struggling to leave your side in that time. It took some time, but he was eventually invited aboard the Astral Express.
_____
"Pretty, isn't it?"
Gepard smiled in agreement at your words. He gazed into the planet he's been living on, or commonly called Jarilo-IV. Even with the eternal winter decimating the land, it was still a magnificent view.
"Since the root of the eternal winter is solved, Belobog's temperature should be rising," you tried to comfort him, afraid he may be disappointed in the view.
Gepard's blue eyes laid on you. If he were to tell himself from the past that he would fall in love with an alien who helped solve the eternal winter's crisis, his past self wouldn't even believe it for a second.
"...the view is the planet y'know, not me," you teased him, letting out a few light laughter. Gepard's face flushed as he was caught staring, "sorry. You just looked very pretty," he blurted out, now making both of your faces red.
After bracing yourself not to stutter, you broke the silence. "...In any case, even if the Express leave we can still talk to eachother," you told the blonde whilst showing your smartphone. Belobog's phones aren't as advanced as the ones sold by the IPC, but it can still connect and chat with the messenger app of the newer designs. "Here, I'll give you my number."
Gepard gave you his device gladly, with red still dusting over his cheeks.
... away from both of your sight, a wild March 7th watches, taking a picture of you two with her camera. "Stalker Marxh 7th strikes again," the grey haired trailblazer told her and lightheartedly rolling their eyes.
"C'mon, it's cute!" she exclaimed, taking another picture.
Tumblr media
The whole crew watched as Gepard chased after your affection similar to a puppy; a comparison Himeko had made. As long as you're happy, the Express Family is happy. By looking at your reactions to his attempts at courting, it seems you were interested in him as well.
"Young love, adorable isn't it, Welt?" Himeko said whilst drinking her cup of coffee. You just left for Belobog to see the blonde captain once more.
Welt nodded to Himeko as he sat on the couch beside her, his eyes focused on the IPC's news broadcasted on their site. "They should make it official quick, we're leaving for another planet in a few more days," he advised, receiving a chuckle from Himeko.
"Has time really passed that quickly?" the redhead smiled.
When the Express visited the Xianzhou Luofu after receiving a tip from Kafka, for some of them it was their first time; Not you though. Whilst you weren't born in the Xianzhou Luofu, you visited the large ship a couple times before.
That day, the Express Family groupchat is blessed with the picture sent by you. Your hands intertwined with Gepard's. The group chat, mainly March 7th, exploded.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In your first visit, you were fortunate enough to meet the dozing general. At the time, you didn't even know he was the general of the cloud knights. For you, he was the attractive man who somehow has birds in his hair.
By that, you meant literally. First time you saw him, you saw a bird crawl into his hair like a nest and you blurt out in front of him; "Are you a bird collector?"
Jing Yuan saw you with a surprised yet pleased smile, after hundreds of years of living; he had never been greeted like that before. "It likes to stay there," Jing Yuan chuckled, curious about your behaviour.
"Are you perhaps a visitor?"
You nodded as a response to him. "My friend was supposed to show me around, but I sorta got lost," you laughed sheepishly. "But fuck it! An adventure is an adventure."
Frankly, your carefree nature felt like fresh air compared to the stiff nature that he's always sorrounded by due to his work. To talk freely with someone who doesn't care about status, when your conversation was over; he simply thought it was a pleasant time.
You exchanged numbers right after, and he never saw you again. At least, in person.
When Jing Yuan isn't busy with work or resting, he wouldn't mind having an interesting conversation with you in his pass time. Over time, he starts to develop a small interest in you beyond friendship. What's fascinating is that you never found out what his title is; something that could be a miracle, or your lack of knowledge of the Xianzhou Luofu.... either way, he doesn't mind it.
While you two doesn't talk everyday, he gets a general idea of how you're doing, and your adventures as a Nameless. He doesn't have any strong opinions regarding the Astral Express and its passengers, but the stories that you told brought a smile to his face each time he reads it.
So when he heard about the Express' sudden visit to Xianzhou Luofu, the smile he usually has increased tenfold. The face he saw you had when his hologram appeared was absolutely priceless!
He sees you trying to balance professionalism in front of Yukong whilst clearly wanting to speak freely to him. Your face clearly holding yourself from being angry at the general but still wanting to be polite in front of Yukong.
"General?"
You crossed your arm followed by an exasperated sigh. "I should've guessed it... your outfit screams 'i am a military person'..." Jing Yuan laughed at your reaction.
"You never asked if I'm a general or not," he retorted, causing you to swing your hand through his hologram.
"How was i supposed to know?!"
Your reaction brought a smile to his face, an expression that your companions at the Express (and Yukong) noted. Welt watched as his fellow passenger of the Astral Express talked with the highly esteemed general like an old friend. He glanced to the person beside him before sighing;
"March, put your camera down."
Tumblr media
The starskiff haven stopped at the dock as Jing Yuan emerged from the transportation. The crisis that the Xianzhou Luofu experienced is finally over as life continued on as usual. For Jing Yuan, he's forced to go through much more paperwork than before, but as long as the Xianzhou Luofu is safe, he can make a few sacrifices.
As walked to the central area, he spots a familiar figure looking over to the clouds. The laziness tiredness that's caused by his recent workload seems to dissappear as he approached the person.
"A spectacular view, isn't it?" Jing Yuan chuckled, talking loud enough for you to hear. Your gaze didn't move from the clouds, as his voice is far too recognizable.
"It is... I might come here again if I can get a vacation day from Trailblazing," you could feel Jing Yuan walking closer to you. Your eyes finally moved to him, "let me guess, your 'secret' job gave you mountains of work to do."
Jing Yuan lets out a few light laughs, leaning against the railing as well. "If you know about it, then it's not a secret anymore," he answered. "But yes, they did."
You sighed, stretching your back before leaning forward to view the majestic view once more. "Too bad~ I guess we can't talk to eachother as often anymore, then."
The white haired general took it as a challenge, raising his eyebrow with a smirk. "How are you so confident? I may end up disturbing you at every hour of the day to prove it wrong."
You faked yourself shuddering at the thought, "no thanks... I'd rather join the anti-matter legion if that's the case."
A curiosity then begin to pollute your mind, begging for an answer. "Why did you hide it from me, the general thing?"
Jing Yuan had to thought of an answer before properly saying it. He didn't want misunderstandings after all. "The people I meet will always be unique and different due to this job, and yet their attitude towards me would be similair; with the exception of a few."
"...you were simply different, a breath of fresh air." He chuckled, "My name is well-known around the Xianzhou Luofu and even beyond; to meet and be close with someone who would strive away from the formalities that I've grown accustomed to, I didn't want it to change."
"All living beings with basic thoughts would change their behavior after knowing something new about someone, if you knew about my occupation and title; I feared there might be a change in behavior," he confessed, knowing you won't react negatively. Jing Yuan felt safe enough to confide in you with his occasional day-to-day life frustrations; this seems like the same to him.
You listened closely to his words, feeling your heart ache in glee. Even if he weren't a general, you would feel the same appreciation for him for opening up to you.
"And do I have any changed behaviors now?" you asked, raising an eyebrow wanting to tease him.
Jing Yuan chuckled, "perhaps... you've became slightly more bold," he teased, receiving a smack to his back from you for payback.
The reaction caused you two to laugh. A comforting silence overcame the general and the Nameless. Quietness began to fill your ears.
Your hand slowly went to Jing Yuan's, trailing until your hand is on top of his. Despite you taking the first initiatives, he was the one who interlocked your fingers first; you following not long after.
Words doesn't need to be spoken, as silence seems so be stronger than any words could've been.
Tumblr media
"I meant it! Dan Heng, you've lived here before right. It's clear there's some kind of spark in the general's expression!"
"And I've never seen them interact before, I don't have any references to make an assumption."
As the two bickered, the grey haired trailblazer held up the foto Tingyun gave them. "It's on a discount~ since you're a friend of the two," she winked, giving them a QR code for the payment.
The picture is of Jing Yuan holding hands with a fellow Nameless and Astral Express crew. Both of them looking at the clouds of the Xianzhou Luofu. It didn't show their faces, only their backs; and yet from where the photo was taken; it's clear as day that they're holding hands.
Tha Trailblazer sighed, "...this feels exploitative," they sighed but still scanning the QR code, paying for the single picture.
"It's fine, since you're a friend it wouldn't be a problem" Tingyun reassured the trailblazer, seeing the payment confirmation on her device. "Thank you for purchasing, loyal customer!"
March 7th heard Tingyun talking to the Trailblazer, her focus drifted towards them. She gave a hand gesture beckoning them to come closer to her, "did you buy Jing Yuan photos? He would probably be fine if you started taking pictures for free after we saved the Luofu!"
"Techniqally...yes?" The Trailblazer answered, showing their two friends the picture. Dan Heng raised his eyebrow, rarely being physically surprised, whilst March 7th excitedly took a picture of the picture.
"No way?! Is this real?" March 7th exclaimed, tapping on the Trailblazer's shoulder excitedly, "quick quick, text (y/n) about it."
Hearing that, the Trailblazer opened up their chat with the person in question. They sent the picture with the question; "whats this??"
You seemed to reply in an instant, ":)"
March 7th looked over to the Trailblazer's shoulder, "let me see..." she's caught dumbfounded at the weird and cryptic answer. "Hey, what's this kind of answer?! Send another one."
The Trailblazer nodded at her request, sending the most clear cut, gramatically correct, tear-bringing sentence;
"Answer plz."
They got left on read.

This will be my second request because I loved what you did to my first request 😭✨
Picture Gepard and Jing Yuan, both arrived at the Star Rail Train, both brining romantic stuffs, on their way to court y/n. They be showing off infront of y/n on who's better 😚 but y/n can't choose so why not both? 🫣✨
Hii so glad you like the first request. Unfortunately i can't write two characters as a main plot at the same time 😭😭 i forgot to wrote it in my pinned, my bad.
i think the concept would be super cutee, but I don't know and aren't used to writing more than one char as a love interest. Still learning to write as a pass time and I'm not ready to write multiple chars with the same reader as a love interest in a fic. Again, sorry for the inconvenience 🙏🙏

Can I request a flustered Gepard after having his m! partner heard him singing Serval's song while walking to the Streets while patrolling 🤧 thank youu
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Captain Gepard Landau is often considered as one of the strongest people in Belobog. His unbreakable will forged in the icy world will never fall into despair. Due to this, whether Gepard himself likes it or not; expectations will always follow him everywhere he goes.
...the same way his sister's song seems to be stuck in his mind everwhere.
Even if he is considered the golden child of the Landau family name, Gepard have always supported Serval for her change of career if it's truly for her happiness. He knew about the surface of Cocolia's actions against her, so he understood why she might want to leave her previous job.
Even if he does support it, doesn't mean he can... replicate her talent.
He's talented at fighting and naturally giving out needed orders, but he didn't inhereted the amazing vocal chords his sister has. At the same time, with the culmination of many silvermane guards singing her tune and from just walking down the street; Gepard had somehow started to hum her song and lyric when he's at work.
While on a patrol through the streets of Belobog, Gepard finds himself singing along Serval's latest release, the song which every silvermane that listens to her would recognize and sing when they're off duty.
There are a few hours when the streets aren't as busy compared to the morning or the afternoon; so he felt alone enough to start singing on his own.
Unbeknownst to him, you had just finished some business in the administrative office with the necessary paperwork in hand. There's a considerable amount of distance between the administrative office to your workplace.
In the middle of your walk, right before turning at the corner of a building; you hear a familiar voice singing off-key.
"Sound waves like dynamite send signals sky high.... strings of thunder makes you lose your mind~"
You recognized the deep voice in an instant. Gepard had talked about his co-workers singing Serval's songs before, but you've never heard him do it. Yes, he isn't on tune with the original song, but how could someone-- anyone, not have their hearts melted when their lover is singing their siblings' song. It's a shame you didn't bring an instant voice recorder to create a physical memory.
Your body didn't dare to move an inch as Gepard might stop his singing if he sees you passing by. It didn't take long before you hear his footsteps drawing near.
When Gepard had just finished singing along to the chorus, he turned his body around the corner; only to be met with the sight of your figure looking at him with a knowing smirk.
Usually Gepard would be ecstatic when seeing you in his patrols, walking up with a smile as you're pretty sure you're dating a golden retriever.
Unfortunately, seeing your expression Gepard can conclude that you must've heard him.
Redness crept up to his cheeks, his hand covering up his mouth. You couldn't help but chuckle at his state, but seeing a rare opportunity you wanted to tease him a little.
"Nice tune, honey," Gepard's flusteredness increased at that. He knew you would instantly tease him. "Somehow I don't believe that..." Gepard almost stuttered with his words from the pure embarassment.
His eyes darts from right to leff in an attempt to avoid looking at you, knowing it would just make him feel even more embarassed.
Your laughter filled his ears, at the very least you're happy from catching him off guard.
Gepard feels your hand lowering his own hand away from his mouth, fingers under his chin moving his head to make him look at you. The empty streets made it so no one around could see you two.
"Hey," your angelic voice called out, Gepard's sky-blue eyes having no choice but to look at yours. You leveled yourself to his height before planting a kiss on his forehead, "I think your voice sounds nice."
If Gepard was on level five of being flustered, then it increased to level ten in an instant! His face may show a similair amount of redness to it, but inside his mind it's all melted. The accumulated reaction of being caught singing by his lover and having you do something he usually only sees in shows or books; all of it send him to an overdrive.
"T...thanks," he managed to come out. His hesitation and embarassment is clearly shown, and you fell into temptation and used the fingers on his chin to squish his cheeks.
"Such a cutie-pie, Geppie," you teased once more, receiving a complaint from Gepard for saying something cheesy in a publis area; despite there being no people to define it as public.
"Alright alright, I'll stop," you gave in after seeing his red face being mushed by your own hand.
Feeling satisfied for today, you turned your body to stand beside the blonde. Your arm quickly linked itself around Gepard's, holding your body close to him. "C'mon, you still have a patrol right?"
Gepard gazed at you for a short while before sighing. Even if he is embarassed by the whole situation, he's happy to at least see you in the middle of working. A loving smile crept up to accompany his red face as he starts walking with you.

Distance
Dan Heng x gn!reader [cw: nightmares, right before Xianzhou Luofu quest]
Tumblr media
Even if two or more people try to close any kind of space between eachother, there will always be distance. On some cases, it's emotional distance; a problem where the parties may be physically close but they couldn't help but feel something in between the two keeping them a part.
On some cases it's physically, where they couldn't touch and see eachother without the help of modern technology. Luckily, some people still feel a strong bond even if it's been weeks since they saw the other person, Dan Heng is no different to them.
The Astral Express goes on many expeditions, every planet lasting for around seven-days. Even so, the expeditions are usually back-to-back missions; even if the passengers heading down may differ.
For Danheng, he's fine with how the Express works; he always preferred quiet places like his room than the busier places like Herta's space station. Even so, any kind of choice and preference has its up and downs; for him, it's the inability to properly see his lover.
As a researcher in Herta's Space Station, the two of you don't see eachother often. The only reason on how you got so close is because of your interest in the Express' travels, which results in the both of you spending time eachother in the archive room.
Himeko had already told Danheng about you when he chose the archives as his room, how you might see eachother often because of it. He didn't mind, as long as you don't barge in expecting a talk out of him.
And you don't, only asking for details when it's a mission he was a part of.
Your curiosity had found a way to charm him. His cold and reserved nature slowly melting as the two of you talked for long periods of time. It started from "How did you solve [x] in the mission?" slowly turning into "What do you think about [x]?"
A simple and gradual change from a mere interest in what he did for work, to what he thinks of anything. The archives became a sanctuary for you two, where even if you led most of the conversation, Dan Heng would still be enganged in what you two are talking about. It became the place where he could feel the weight of his past slowly dissappear the more he hear your voice.
It also became the place of shame when the Express' greatest grandpa, Welt, walked in on Dan Heng's first kiss with you in the archives.
Safe to say, you two shared a special relationship; all which started in the very room.
So when Dan Heng woke up from his dream about him; about the stellaron hunter who hunted him down away from the Xianzhou Luofu. Safe to say, his first thought when he woke up in a daze was to find your number in his phone.
Tumblr media
"You're still working?"
Your head turned to the source of the voice; Asta, the station's lead researcher. A genius and kindhearted girl who took over the space station; taking care of it so well to the point where Herta took a hands-off approach until a week ago.
"Aren't late hours a researcher's best companion?" you chuckled at her, stretching out after feeling the aches of your back from not moving for too long.
"And sleep is a person's greatest medicine," Asta crossed her arm at you. She's no stranger to sleeping late hours as well, but still, taking care of each researchers health is a part of her job.
Seeing you still determined to finish the research topic, Asta couldn't do anything else but sigh. "Just take care of yourself, health is important," she reminds you.
"I knoow, I already have Dan Heng to tell me that," Asta laughed along to your non-serious remark. "Alright then, I'm gonna hit the bed," the lead researcher announced, yawning as she closed the door and leaving you in the dimly lit room alone.
You took a deep breath before going back to reading all the research papers on the computer. The physical research for the paper hadn't even begun, yet you're stuck in front of a desk reading for sources for what feels like eternity.
Right when your eyelids felt heavy from tiredness, you felt the table vibrating lightly for a moment. After looking underneath a stack of papers on hour desk, the source of it was your phone.
A text, from Dan Heng to be specific. He simply asked if you were awake or not. A part of you wanted to lie, knowing he would probably scold you for spending bedtime in front of a desk... again. Though, you felt that he would somehow know the truth either way.
Usually Dan Heng would say something like what Asta said earlier, how health is more important than work. Whilst the statement is true, the thought of finishing all the current problems now and sleeping soundly sounds better for you.
"Would it be possible if I call you right now?"
Confusion struck you when reading the text. It's not often that Dan Heng would ask for a late night call at this hour, it's almost three in the morning for the station's system time.
After texting him an approval for the call, you grabbed an earphone and answered it immediately. "Hey," you greeted him, "... you okay?"
From the other side of the phone, Dan Heng's worries lifted when he heard your voice. "I'm... I'm fine, I just needed to hear you again," his stutter made you doubt his words, but knowing Dan Heng, if he doesn't talk about it then he prefer keeping it to himself.
Although he wasn't truthful on his state of mind right now, Dan Heng wasn't lying when he said he needs to hear your voice again. It's a confirmation that you're okay, and that the stellaron hunter didn't annihilate Herta's Space Station like how he did with the IPC ships he boarded in the past.
"If you want to hear me so bad, interested in hearing a forty-five page research paper of 'the effects of a stellaron to the sorrounding magnetic field'?" you tried to lighten the mood, which results positively as Dan Heng lets out a small chuckle.
"As much as I enjoy reading, I'll leave the long research papers to you," your concerned thoughts slowed down as Dan Heng's tone changed to a less distressed one.
"Then how did the Belobog trailblazing go?"
Dan Heng leaned against the wall behind him, phone on his ear whilst his breathing hadn't fully calmed down yet. "It ended well despite the inconveniences, a 2.5 at best," he answered.
"Really?" you couldn't help but smile whilst opening up your recent texts with March 7th. "The wanted posters really highlighted your features though," your snicker is followed by a groan from Dan Heng.
"March sent you the photos?" his question results in a laugh coming from you. Your smile spreads like the plague as you scroll through the photos. Dan Heng still held the same nonchalant look in all of them, but it would be a lie to say you didn't save all of the photos.
"Yep, all of them actually. Didn't know your new friend likes to go through trash cans."
Usually when teasing him regarding his recent trailblazing experiences, he would respond with an exasperated sigh; this time Dan Heng responds with a light and airy laugh. You took a deep breath before asking him, "So, where are you headed to next?"
Dan Heng stayed quiet for a moment. Himeko hadn't told them anything about their next destination, but he knew that it would somehow end up being the Luofu. Even after years of running, he couldn't avoid his 'home' in the end.
"There hasn't been a conclusive answer yet, but..." he hesitates on continuing. Even if you knew bits and pieces of his past, a part of him didn't want you to know the full picture. People instinctively run away from danger, and he fears you knowing means bringing the danger right at you and everyone in the space station.
You stayed quiet, patiently waiting for an answer but not pushing him to answer. Dan Heng took another deep breath before continuing, "the Luofu might be in danger. He's there."
Even with the lack of a proper name, you knew who he's talking about. Dan Heng mentioned about someone hunting him in the past, and you connected yourself that it might be connected to why he's not allowed in the Xianzhou Luofu.
To be honest, you're unsure how to answer. "Then... I assume the express is heading there next?"
Dan Heng doesn't have a definite answer yet, he just woke up barely minutes ago after all. "I don't know but... if there is real danger coming from there then it's likely," he knows the goals of the express', and the mere prescence of a stellaron hunter in the Luofu means a stellaron might be there as well; which ties back to the express.
Dan Heng is someone who can't face his past; for his own safety and others. Even if he's sure Welt and Himeko would protecf him if something does happen, the possibility of them getting hurt due to him haunts him. And if the express is hurt, would he chase after you too?
"Dan Heng?"
The soothing call of his name snaps Dan Heng away from his thoughts. "It'll be fine," you tried to comfort his thoughts. Despite not having the full picture on what's going on, you had an idea on what Dan Heng would be feeling; after all, dating a quiet person means it's easier to read them the more time passed.
"If that person is really there, he can't reach Herta's station. All of the passengers in the express aren't ordinary fighters too," you tried to hide any form of doubts, especially about the opponent being a stellaron hunter.
"I know you're worried, and it's reasonable to be. But I'm sure everything will be okay, for you and for everyone else," Dan Heng's rapid heartbeat and anxiety from before dissipates to normalcy. His hand held tighter onto the phone pressed against his ear.
He didn't need to speak, even simple words gratitude isn't needed. Even through a phone, you can feel him slowly relaxing into the calm and collected person you fell for. Dan Heng's rather rare smile appeared, even if his expression still held a hint of tiredness.
"What would I do without you," it's not a question, but a statement. A part of him feels as though even if his body is in the station, he would still be lost in the vast galaxy.
"Adventuring as a trailblazer duh, just with less phone calls." Your laughter filled the empty room with no one in sight, but it also entered Dan Heng's mind as a cure for his worries.
Yes, the two of you aren't able to call eachother everyday; not even every week. Even so, it didn't make either of you feel inadequate or losing touch with the other.
Dan Heng has the express, and you have Herta's Space Station, each of you having your own lives. The bond of care and trust you have for eachother kept you two away from parting ways; understanding that being distanced due to work doesn't always mean the end.

Two tries, One success
[Gepard Landau x gn!reader]
Tumblr media
Working as the manager of Mechanical Fever's famous bassist isn't as bad of a job as many would think. Serval originally wanted an assistant to sort out her workshop's data, but after seeing how you matched energies with her, she offered the position as Mechanical Fever's assistant not long after being hired.
It's good; your pay doubled and your boss is great as a friend and as an employer. It's been a year since working for Serval and you've never looked back in regret. You even got the chance to befriend her younger brother, Gepard.
Although recently, the two siblings have been acting strange.
At first Serval asked about your type, you answered the question by saying blonde, since at the time you find a blonde hair color attractive.
Then only a day later, Serval had to 'take leave' in the middle of the day; saying that Pela asked to meet her regarding some scheduling with rehearsals. Despite you not remembering Pela mentioning anything of the sort when seeing her yesterday...
Since she is your boss, you brushed it off. The workshop doesn't have days where an influx of clients would come in anyway. Additionally, current clients' orders are all finished and it's just a waiting game for any of them to pick their items up.
No Serval, no work, not even cleaning. The only thing moderately interesting is the plant you brought here as decoration for Serval.
In conclusion; you were bored as hell that day.
Which is why when the door opened, your body straightened up as a reflex; thinking it's one of the clients. Surprisingly, you were met with the sight of Serval's younger brother. A rush of excitement and joy hit you, almost subconsciously.
"Gepard? Serval didn't mention you coming here," you pointed out. As captain of the silvermane guards, he's usually busy with work. "Did you left something last week?"
The blonde didn't answer right away, in fact his eyes are looking at everything but you. "No, uhm, Is my sister not here?" Gepard asked, finally turning towards you.
"Nah, she said Pela wanted to talk to her urgently earlier," you answered. "I can tell her you're here though," you raised your phone as a way to tell Gepard how you could tell Serval about his visit.
"That... isn't necessary," he almost stammered, even to the point where you noticed. "Did my sister bring that in?" Gepard pointed to the plant beside you.
"I did actually. This old fella' looks like it fits in this place," your hand grabbed the small plant's pot, shaking it lightly as if it's talking. Using a voice for the plant, you began to talk for it like a puppet. "That's right, it was so cold out there."
Gepard chuckled at your antics, "you must take good care of it." He heard you hum in response, "if your sister did, she might sing it rock music for bedtime."
After you placed the pot back down, Gepard took a deep breath before spilling his true intention. "Are you perhaps busy this Saturday?" The Landau sibling had a light red dusting on his cheek, something blocked by the darker lighting of Nevermore workshop.
You raised an eyebrow at him in interest. Saturday... Mechanical Fever shouldn't be having any performances that day and the workshop is closed; leaving you with an open spot. "I'm not, why'd you ask?"
"I was wondering if we could..." Gepard's word trailed away, his blue eyes looking at yours with a strange gaze. It's beautiful, his eyes, like the carved geomarrow at the Everwinter Monument, but somehow more beautiful. It's mezmerizing, truly.
"...could teach me about plant management. I've been trying to take care of mine as a hobby, but they don't usually end well," Gepard finishes his sentence.
The room stayed quiet for a moment, though in Gepard's mind it's louder than all the concerts he's seen his sister performs. The silence ended when you chuckled, then laughed.
"Sorry sorry," you managed to muffled out. "It's just, Serval's been mentioning your 'hobby' for awhile and I didn't expect you to come to me for help," you leaned back against the chair with your arms crossed, "How about at noon here? I can ask Serval about opening the workshop for the day, sure she wouldn't mind if it's for you."
Gepard straightened his posture as a reflex, though his face does hold a certain embarassment that you didn't pick up. "Sure, I'll be glad," he smiled. "I think I'll have to go now, my break isn't long."
The blonde leaves the workshop in a hurry, not even hearing your words of parting. You found it strange how he behaved that day, and many days after to be exact.
Tumblr media
The second time one of the Landau siblings acted weird was when Mechanical Fever's performance had just ended. Many people were asking for a photo or even signatures of the bandmates, especially Serval.
Since it all had technically wrapped up, you sat by the bench nearby to recharge from watching a fun yet exhausting performance. The air of overworld's Belobog is much colder in the evening, even with geomarrow heaters everywhere.
Your hand rubbed against eachother for heat and friction. It'll only be a short while until the band properly wraps up and have a little celebration in Serval's workshop. Though that short while felt like eternity when all you could feel is the eternal winter's air saying 'fuck you warmth!'
"You okay there?"
You looked up to see the familiar charming captain, his face full of worry. The thought of Gepard worrying made you conflicted to wether feel happy or guilty. "Yeah, just chilly," you responded, bringing your heated hands to your face for more warmth.
"You didn't bring a jacket?" Gepard asked, sitting right beside you. "It's usually not this cold at the evening, but winter has its ways."
"Well fuck whoever made this winter," whilst rubbing your hands again, you slipped out a few words of annoyance at the current state of temperature. Realizing the rudeness, you couldn't help but feel guilty, "sorry."
"It's fine but," Gepard looks at your sorry state and thought about it for a moment, leaving you to wonder what's in his pretty little head. Your thoughts stopped when he took off the white and blue scarf of his uniform and slid it around yours.
"Here."
You wanted asked what was he doing before feeling the heat. It's so... warm. Is this what he feels everytime going in the fragmentums filled with cold air? No wonder he could stand in a fight for so long, this thing is comfortable.
"You are an actual lifesaver, Landou," your almost trembling voice muttered, quickly relishing in the warmth that his scarf had given you. Gepard on the other hand felt his eyes being stuck on your figure; the snow of Belobog definitely made you look more ethereal than usual.
Gepard took a few moments before the spur of the moment outweighs his worries. "A new place opened up near Goethia hotel, I was wondering--"
"(y/n)! Hurry up, we're heading to Serval's," the pianist of Mechanical Fever yelled out, uncaring of the other people surprised at his sudden voice.
As the assistant of the band, you were already used to this by now. The blonde beside you is not used to it; and if that pianist is a fragmentum monster, he would've thrown a punch right then and there.
"Sorry, could you say that again?" you tried to ignore the pianist's wails, focusing on Gepard more considering he's not yelling at you.
"Right," Gepard coughed to ease himself back in the moment, "this wednesday, I was wondering if--"
"(y/n)!"
You winced in annoyance as that pianist's voice filled the streets of the district. Seriously, you hope Serval can knock some sense into the guy about the great knowledge that is patience. Seeing as he would probably keep yelling your name until you yield, your priorities had to change.
"Sorry, Gepard, could you continue that another time? I'm afraid a certain someone wouldn't shut their mouth if I don't come," you scoffed, side-eyeing the person in annoyance. Gepard looks at you with disappointment, a face you've never seen before.
"It's fine," the blonde answered, though when he sees you start taking off his scarf, his gloved hand prevented you from properly taking it off. "Just take it, you'll get cold on the way."
You raised an eyebrow at him unsurely, "... won't you get in trouble for giving this to a civilian?"
Gepard shook his head, instead gently tightening the scarf. "I have another at home," he brushed it off before backing away from you. "I'll... see you on another day."
The next day, you overheard a few guards talking about their Captain Landau; and how he seems to be missing a part of his uniform.
Tumblr media
The third time is when Serval asked a specific question when you two were working. A client had given her an antique click to fix earlier on, the device taking over Serval's focus for the past two hours. You on the other hand had to sort out this month's profits and data regarding clients and business related items you two bought for the month.
"Say, what do you think of silvermane guards?" the blonde bassist asked you before extending her hand up to you expecting a tool. You naturally took the screwdriver and gave it to her, eyes still focused on the laptop.
"They're... fine," you answered. "What's with the random question?" Serval shrugged her arm, taking off her glasses as she leaned back and rested her eyes. Another fixing job for a complex antique done, it's amazing how someone could keep an object for a long time without realizing the broken gears it has.
"Everytime we go out to buy parts, you always glanced at the silvermane groups when they passed," the flinch coming from you became an answer to her assumption. Serval leaned on the table in front of her, blue eyes scanning you for any hints, "Interested in one of 'em?"
Seeing as lying would get you nowhere with the engineer, you took shaky breath, "just one."
Serval's eyes lit up like stars, "No way! Care to spill?" you averted your eyes from your boss' enthusiasm, finger tapping on the wood as a way to calm yourself. Even if she is your friend, it doesn't ease the nervousness.
"Well..." your voice trailed out.
Tumblr media
"And what was the answer?"
Serval sighed, "said I knew the person." Her younger brother slumped down, tapping his feet for every half a second. "C'mon, we narrowed it down to a blonde and a silvermane guard I know! That's a pretty good chance," Serval tried to cheer him up, which sadly didn't do much.
"That doesn't narrow it down to one person," Gepard pointed out. At first, he noticed you sneaking glances when he was ordering guards near Belobog's alleyways. It gave him a hope that maybe this isn't unrequited; a hope that's lost the longer he thought about it.
"Maybe I should cancel it, I can't ruin our friendship because of this."
Serval smacked her brother's head lightly in a scolding manner. "Hey, I thought us Landau are hardworking and determined. You can't just give up now," she reminded him.
Even if Gepard's hesitance did stop for a moment, it didn't stop him from feeling nervous. Serval waited for her brother to speak up, her arm crossed on her chest. Gepard recalled how long he had been trying a confession, four weeks. Four grueling weeks and three tries of trying to ask you out in any way he could think of only to fail each time.
The first time he got too nervous when looking at your eyes gazing at him. The fear of rejection and making that look turn into something bad made him scared.
The second time one of Mechanical Fever's band members interrupted him. Maybe it's The Aeon of Preservation's way of telling him fate doesn't allow this to happen.
It's complicated; so many variables that caused him to worry over what ifs. For starters, his sister is your boss, then he might not even be your type personality wise. Gepard is usually a confident person, but something about you just makes him nervous all the sudden.
"What am I supposed to do?" Gepard asked, wanting some kind of advice from his carefree older sister. Serval sighed, leaning against her table to wrack an idea from her head.
"Tomorrow morning, I asked (y/n) to take care of the workshop since I have plans with some friends," she told him, "Try shooting your shot then, and don't chicken out this time."
Gepard thought about Serval's idea, ultimately considering it a good enough plan. "Sounds great. Thank you, sister," Gepard stood up properly after giving his appreciation to Serval.
A part of him feels guilty for falling with his sister's assistant. He didn't even realize he's falling for someone until he's already too late.
The blonde sighed, he can only pray to Qlipoth that you won't hate him for this.
Tumblr media
After Gepard said his goodbyes to Serval, the cold air of Belobog hits him. Thankfully, his uniform made it so he's not feeling cold, but usually geomarrow heaters around the city would lessen the drop in temperature. He should've told his sister to fix the broken heater outside.
Unbeknownst to him, you were just done buying flowers from the shop near Nevermore workshop. Your hand clenched onto the bouquet of flowers hard as you noticed a familiar blonde in front of Serval's workshop.
The dark lighting that roams Belobog's night made it so he probably didn't realize it's you there. Even so, he did hear footsteps approaching him. "Gepard! Didn't expect to run into you," you greeted him.
"Oh, (y/n), hi. I was just visiting my sister," Gepard answered, your voice instantly making him nervous. He noticed the item you're carrying; a bouquet of sunshine flowers. From his hours of studying how to do gardening as a hobby, he also learned some of the meaning of flowers.
Sunshine is a flower that means "warmth and love of light" for the people of Belobog. He doesn't know if you knew what those flowers mean, but something inside his mind is causing him to feel scared.
Though, remembering you were still here, Gepard quickly swallowed that feeling in favor of being your friend. "Are you heading home?" Gepard asked, receiving a nod from you.
"Yeah, gotta take care of the workshop tomorrow," your hand held the bouquet slightly tighter. "Actually, do you mind walking me to my house?" your voice had a hint of hesitance to it. "I... still have your scarf from last time."
Gepard smiled at your worries. Yes, he did get questioned by his superiors about it before being given another scarf, but honestly, he didn't mind it since it results in your comfort. "You don't have to worry about that, I have another one."
"No!"
The sudden change of tone caught Gepard off guard, as you usually never raised a voice unless it's needed. Looking at your regretful expression and the hand nearing your mouth made Gepard think it wasn't fully intentional on your side either.
"Sorry, it's just," your words came into a stutter. "I want to take a walk with you tonight, is that possible?"
Gepard didn't know what to say in an instant, almost stuttering himself. Though, he does answer fast in fear you might think he feels reluctant to. "Of course," he answered, "Shall we go, then?"
"Yeah," you swallowed a lump in your throat and walked closer to the captain.
The walk is a relaxing one. Due to Jarilo-IV's eternal winter, weather at night have always been colder than at day; even with the heaters. Droplets of snow covered the both of you as the walk continued. Gepard is the first to break the silence, bringing up the flowers he noticed.
"Those are sunshine flowers, right?" he asked. "Yeah, I bought it for a friend," your voice almost seemed to hesitate on the last word. "It means love and warmth from what I remember."
Hearing you say that gives the knowledge to Gepard that you know the meaning of it, and if you're giving it to a friend then it means you feel some sort of love or warmth for the friend. That left a bitter taste in his mouth when he thinks about it.
"Warmth and love of light," Gepard added, when he sees your eyes looking at him in curiosity he felt the need to explain. "I've read some additional details when learning how to do gardening."
If it weren't for the barely lit street lamps, he would've been caught with a red face. "Love, huh..." your muttering were loud enough for Gepard to hear. "Have you ever been confessed to?"
Your question made Gepard wonder what to answer. If he were to say yes, does that lower the chances of you accepting his confession. But if he were to say no, would you really believe him?
"A few times, though I never really accepted them," Gepard side-eyed you, trying to pinpoint any kind of reaction. He could see your hand holding onto the bouquet tight, even so he doesn't know if it's due to nervousness or just from the cold.
"I see," your voice trailed out. The walk continued on quietly, but it's not awkward per se.
For Gepard, his mind is clouded with doubt for tomorrow's plan. If he were to be planning a confession, he would ask for some kind of advice from someone he knows well. For him it was Serval, but maybe for you it's him.
Before either of you could realize it, you two are already in front of your home. "Looks like we're here," Gepard said unsurely. He isn't exactly sure if you would give back his scarf or not, considering he rejected the offer earlier.
"Right," you took a deep breath before turning to face the blonde, your movements as stiff as a robot. Your hand held onto the bouquet with shaking fingers, eyes unsure where to look but eventually locking to Gepard's blue ones.
After a moment of silence and you biting your lips to form words, any words, you finally spoke.
"You are a wonderful person to be around, I always enjoy talking to you even if it's just for a few minutes," your voice is low, scared even. The fear of losing someone causing hesitation between each words spoken.
"And you might feel otherwise, but fuck, I want to be selfish just this once." You took in another breath of air to prepare yourself. Your arms extended towards Gepard, offering him the bouquet of flowers. "I like you, like really like you."
Your voice trembled, but not because of the coldness in the air but the warmth that slowly crept up to your head. Heartbeat going louder than any of Serval's performances.
Gepard's own state isn't far different than yours. His mind slowly processed your words as his cheeks is engulfed in a light pink hue. For almost a month he was worried every time he thought about it; head slamming against the wall thinking on what to say and what to do for a confession.
"It seems you did what I was planning to do."
His hand took the flowers, happiness written all over his face expressed by a soft and endearing smile. "I feel the same way, for awhile now to be exact," Gepard took a deep breath before letting out small chuckles of his own.
"Sorry, its just nice to see that I'm not alone," his admittance made you laugh yourself. It's good that your house doesn't have many street lamps in front of it, or else the two of you might've been exposed for the redness in both of your faces.
It's strange. Just a moment ago the cold air of Belobog had started to settle in, but now all you could feel is the wamrth coming from your own face. Though, after properly processing Gepard's reponse you realized the opportunity laid properly at this moment.
"I have a ticket-- sorry, two tickets, to the Golden Theater next week at 12. If you're free, we could go together," your voice came back happily, glee and excitement coming from the tone.
"Like a date?"
Your eyes lit up as Gepard continued it for you, hearing it as a confirmation that he might be okay with the idea. "Yeah, like a date."
"Of course, I would love to," Gepard answers, his beautiful smile still brightly seen even with the dark lighting. Your face mirrored his, still nervous as hell, but happily nervous.
Realizing the time, you felt bad for making Gepard stand in front of your home for so long. "Great! I'll see you another day then," you argued with yourself for a few moments before going with the nervous adrenaline telling you what impulses to do.
Matching yourself to Gepard's height, you dropped a small kiss on his cheek; causing the blonde to be caught off guard as his face heats up more.
"Can't wait for next week," you muttered loud enough for him to hear before bolting to your door to avoid any chances that he'll see your state; an obvious nervous wreck. As you entered your own home, mumbles of questions leaves your mind, all relating to your actions not even a minute ago.
Meanwhile, Gepard is left still in front of your home dumbfounded and processing what had just happened. His eyes darted to the bouquet again; yellow petals looking back at him, giving him hope for what comes in the future.
