At the top is the naturalization record for Wolf Fein on October 20th, 1891. If there is any question that Velvil Fein is Wolf Fein (Velvel/Velvil/Velvl is "Wolf" in Yiddish) or that Velvil Fein was not a sibling of the other Meer/Frenchel children, this should end that. On the bottom is the section of Garsile/Ghisela/Gitel's second marriage certificate in 1892. The address is the same: 29 Ludlow. Once Gitel arrived in New York, she stayed with her older brother until she got married.

A comparison of all the signatures of Marcu Sin Meer. Although the documents themselves say "Maruc" he signs most of these "Mordechai."

1914 - The Jewishgen listing and Marriage certificate between Munis Meer Frenkel and Hana Gluk. Note that this was the second marriage for Munis as his first wife, Rachel Nagelberg died in 1911. Also note that this certificate gives Finchel's maiden name as "Schnurling." If that is not jus something made up on the spot, it's my guess that the name would actually be "Shmerling."

The death listing from Jewishgen for Finkel Chava Frenkel, June 5th, 1907. The age of 68 give her a birth year of around 1939. I haven't had luck finding the actual death certificate, but am told it probably wouldn't have information about her parents.

1892 - the wedding certificate betwen Gharsile (Ghisela/Gitel) Frenkle and Ike Berkowitz. Note that the form only gives the choices of "single" or "widowed." "Widowed" is selected, but it is believed Gitel was divorced.

This is the marriage certificate between Charles Franck and Elise Bodenheimer. Marcus Franck is listed as Charles father, but is deceased at the time of the wedding Sept 14, 1890. Finchel Franck signed the agreement for the wedding from Jassy, Romania.
"975. Franck--Bodenheimer On 16 October 1890 at 10:30 a.m., the marriage certificate of: Charles Franck--born in Jassy (Rumania), a tailor ("tailleur") living in Paris at Rue de Delta 12, the adult son of Marcus Franck, brewer ("brasseur"), deceased, and of Finchel Franck, his widow, a merchant ("commerçante"), 46 years old, living in Jassy--consenting to marriage according to the terms of a private contract [a contract evidenced under the private signature of the parties to it, as opposed to a contract entered into in the presence of a public official, such as a registrar] dated the 17th of last August [1890] in Jassy on the one hand, and of Elise Bodenheimer--born at Rheinbischofsheim [a village in Baden] (Germany) on 13 December 1863, without a profession, living in Paris at Avenue Laumière 41, adult daughter of Jacob Bodenheimer and Henriette Braunschwig, his wife--the prospective bride, a German subject, exempt because of her age and by virtue of the laws of her country to produce the consent or the death certificate of her mother and father, on the other hand.Signed privately by us, Charles-Paul-Auguste Bernard, deputy mayor, registrar in the 19th District ("Arrondissement ") in Paris, who have proceeded publicly with the celebration of the marriage in the mayor's office in the following form: after having read to the parties: 1st concerning their birth certificates; 2nd concerning the death certificate of the future bridegroom; 3rd concerning the mother's consent; 4th about the certificate of law concerning the bride [certifying that the bride is free to contract marriage in France]; 5th concerning the acts of publication [the banns] made in the mayor's office of the 19th Arrondissement on the Sundays of the 14th and the 20th of last September [1890] without objection, all of the aforementioned items ??????? ??????; 6th concerning Chapter 6 of Book I of the Civil Code titled 'on the laws and respective conjugal duties of the spouses.'
After reading this to the future spouses who declared to us that a marriage contract had been made on the 23rd of last September [1890] before M[onsieur] Lefebvre, a notary in Paris, according to the certificate produced for us, we asked the future spouses if they wanted to take each other for husband and wife, and each of them answered aloud affirmatively and singly. We pronounced in the name of the law that Charles Franck and Elise Bodenheimer are united in marriage. In the presence of: Abraham Metzger, schoolmaster ("instituteur"), age 34, living at 41 Avenue Laumière; Louis Bellot, employed [appears to be a space here], living at Rue Vercingétorix 35; Henri Bodenheimer, employed in trade ("commerce"), age 22 years, living at Rue Richelieu 77, the wife's brother; and Victor Massat, merchant ("négociant"), age 45 years, living at Rue des Ardennes 16. The Jewishgen listing and the actual marriage certificate itself of David Frenchl to Sura Gotfrid in 1888. This is the first document that mentions that the father, Marcu Frenchel is deceased - meaning he died sometime after the 1882 wedding of Ghisela and this 1888 wedding.

The Jewishgen listing and 1879 marriage certificate of Velvil Fein and Sura Fetel. This is the only document I've found with the surname Fein. In all of the documents, the name is listed "Marcu", but he always signs his name "Mordechai" in Hebrew. Here, I believe he signs it "Mortha" - short for Mordechai.

The Jewishgen listing and the 1877 birth certificate itself of Munis Meer. Note that the father, Marcu Sin Meer, is listed as being "under the protection of Germany" implying that he was a Sudit, a privileged foreigner, given tax breaks that natives did not receive.
