jumping off from this to talk about lisa. specifically, this part:

tattletale, conversely, barely has a civilian life at all. the lisa with a ponytail and modest clothing is, in a way, not who she is beneath the mask, but a second mask she occasionally briefly holds up over her tattletale mask when she needs to pass as civilian in the public eye. and what's actually beneath the tattletale mask, then? uh, secret. it never comes off. at the end of the day, she doesn't go home as lisa, she goes home as tattletale and spends the evening doing tattletale things on her computers so she's more prepared to spend tomorrow as tattletale too.

the thing is, in a similar way to rachel and alec, lisa really didn't have a choice in this, either. while lisa didn't have a manslaughter charge hanging over her head or suffer the Heartbreaker Special, she really didn't have any choices but to become tattletale, nor did she have an actual out from her costumed persona. tattletale consumes lisa throughout the events of worm, but it wasn't always that way

lisa spent the time between her trigger event and her recruitment by coil laying low -- staying with friends, other homeless people, and, crucially, not donning a cape persona, not wearing a costume. she used her power to steal from rich marks and did her best not to draw attention to herself; much less the kind of attention someone operating as a supervillain attracted. when she was recruited, well.

not really a negotiation about sums it up; only with the added wrinkle that the alternative to coil's offer wasn't death, but slavery, as we see near the end of arc 16, when he kidnaps and holds tattletale to use for information with plans to keep her like he kept dinah. the reason she's always on the grind is because the alternative is the same grind but worse; with less freedom, less choice; and that said freedom and choice is dependent on her desperately searching for advantages under coil's nose so she can eventually free herself from her de facto captivity.

ironically, the undersider with the least interest in drawing attention and maintaining a public persona is the one who basically becomes the face of the operation. skitter's the leader, the scary one, yes, but when it comes to management, when it comes to negotiation, when it comes to pinning the blame of someone as the haughty mastermind? it's tattletale. hell, in ward, victoria's under the impression that not only was lisa the leader of the undersiders, controlling everything, but that coil was her pawn to boot

so by the time taylor's gone, so is lisa. she spent the last year and change so single-mindedly trying to win back her freedom and keep her friends safe that by the time she is free, all that's left is... tattletale. living in a different world from everyone she knew before her recruitment, living in a different world from all her current friends by virtue of knowing all their secrets and having given herself the job of keeping them afloat -- which is all she has left, despite the fact that she never felt she was as close to them as they were to each other.

Hello, I have two doctor's appointments and several medications that I need to refill. One appointment is $180, the other is $130 and one of my meds by itself is $130.
