Mimi nodded quickly, humming in agreement as she had started on her milkshake before Minjoon’s question came. “Mmhm! Boldness can find you anywhere. I’ve been flirted with over Subway sandwiches, once at a sushi bar, a bakery…Milkshakes is now the newest one on the list.” Mimi waved her hand in the air lightly, musing on with a soft shrug. “Sometimes I wish it only happened in movies. I’m just trying to eat something or enjoy time with friends.” She huffed and took another sip of the drink. “But you’re welcome! I hope you like it. I’m not sure what he made, but it’s not what I asked for. What kind is it?”

Minjoon took another sip of the drink he’d been given rather than the one he’d bought for himself as he listened to Mimi talk, nodding in understanding at her words. He couldn’t imagine enjoying strangers interrupting his food to talk to him. “I think it’s really smart that you know that it’s happening. Sometimes, it’s in the tone of voice but it’s not always and I’m clueless when it’s like that.” He admitted quietly, going to take another drink before a thought stopped him and he looked at the drink with wide eyes and a furious blush across his cheeks. “Y-you’re not..? Um, this isn’t.. R-right?”

His eyebrows furrowed slightly as the other rambled on for a bit about the ownership of the stool. “Uh, right. Yeah, no, I know I can’t just take this with me when I leave.” It wouldn’t fit on his motorcycle anyway.

The embarrassment that Minjoon usually felt that would have caused him to babble like he did and the embarrassment he would have felt for babbling was probably bubbling away under the warmth of the alcohol in his system but he couldn’t feel the usual heat flush his cheek so he simply pushed up his glasses and smiled. “Yeah! Yeah, of course. Sorry, I’m.. I’m trying to talk to new people. I’m Minjoonie!”

Minjoon looked up slowly at the unfamiliar voice, pink blossoming across his cheeks when he realises, belatedly, that he was the one being spoken to. Two milkshakes back to back was easy, but he didn’t want to be the one who voiced that opinion and instead he bowed his head politely with a quiet “Thank you.” as he took the drink from her. “Do.. Do people really flirt over milkshakes? I um.. I thought that only really happened in movies... and to my best buddy. I’m.. I’m Minjoon. Thank you again, for the milkshake.”

“Are you a fan of milkshakes?” Before there was an answer Mimi was handing off the extra drink that was in her hand to the person closest to her. “ I saw the guy at the stand mess up my order while he was trying to flirt with me and when I called him out on it he gave me this extra. I’m not sure if he was going to drink two milkshakes back to back, but it’s yours if you’d like it. Don’t worry about paying me or anything. You’re doing me a favor.”

Research. That was the excuse he was giving himself as he tapped his fingers against his second glass of wine. The alcohol had been enough to ease his usual nerves in social settings, making him feel a little warm and fuzzy around the edges so he offered a wave when someone was speaking to him. “Hi! No, you can have the seat. I mean, you can’t have the seat, it’s not mine to give away but you can sit there if you want to.”

He pulled out the empty barstool glancing at the person next to him. Daniel didn’t say anything until he had a beer in his hand though. “Oh, uh…nobody’s sitting here are they?” It wasn’t like he cared one way or another, if he was being honest.

He was halfway through changing out of his work clothes into pajamas, so when he answered the door, he was wearing flannel pajama bottoms with a half-buttoned button-up shirt. “Hi Min– oh.” Before he could finish greeting his friend, a tray of cookies was being shoved into his hands. He was confused as to why this was happening, yet he wasn’t going to say no to baked goods from Minjoon. “Thank you… do you want to come inside?” 

Minjoon blinked slowly as Jian accepted the cookies that he didn’t really give him a choice of accepting. Then again at the invite, his cheeks flushing a light pink as he tilted his head. “I.. didn’t think that far ahead. I just came to say hi and see how you are but then I didn’t know if I was supposed to text that or come and ask and then I didn’t know if it was weird to just show up and ask so.. Cookies. Um.. Sorry, yes please. If that’s okay? You should probably get a cookie whilst they’re still warm.”
