Looking at your excitment because of Gumshoe's appearance I've decided to practice drawing him in Deciphering's style now.

There're going to be scenes with him in the chapter, but okay, I'll add him in the earlier pages on the background because we love huge himbo puppies here and miss this one x)

Zack Underwood is such a good character!!! Like!!! He's the new kid on the block. He plays football. He was in two different bands, one of which was a regionally famous lumberjack themed boyband, (and the other one is just getting started lol.) He cannot stop making puns. We have no idea what Zack's dad does, but his mom is an emergency room doctor who specializes in the really bloody stuff. He went to actuary camp for three summers. He designed an app to put an armadillo in your photos. He's voiced by a total nobody but his best friends are voiced by Weird Al and Sabrina Carpenter. He's afraid of fish. He does interpretive dance. He's only had Milo and Melissa for a day and a half, but he would already die for them. There has never been another character like him, and there never will be again.

It just makes a lot of sense why Marcille and Laios would be good friends, really, because Marcille Will Tell You What Is On Her Mind. If she doesn't like something, she throws a tantrum. If she's down to clown, she clowns like a champ. If she has an opinion, she voices it clearly and concisely. Laios knows exactly where Marcille stands in pretty much every topic.

On Marcille's end, she's down to clown more than people give her credit for. Laios said "yo let's play with these bones and rearrange them in funny ways" and Marcille joined right in. Like, yeah, she'll want to bonk his skull in sometimes, but aside from the monster and dungeon (well, she does have this one, just differently) fascination, she's pretty much in the same wavelength as Laios when it comes to most things.

Which is cool! Because they could've made them hostile siblings in law but they are besties actually.

I’m so unbothered about love triangles these days but something about the Hawthorne boys is making me a bit insane

#it’s the way grayson pulled back from avery but promised to do everything he can to protect her. and in doing so is protecting her from #himself #its the way jameson has fundamentally changed as a result of avery being at the house and forgetting the game for her #it’s the way they’re trying desperately not to repeat the situation with emily but are falling back into old patterns anyway #it’s the way Nash’s ex fiancée is averys lawyer but he’s slowly falling for libby #it’s the way xander was fake dating thea so she could have a secret relationship with rebecca #its the way nearly all of them feel responsible in some way for emilys death and she continues to haunt the narrative even though avery #never even met her and we have actual back from the dead characters #good lord this series is making me a bit insane #this was only supposed to be about grayson jameson and avery but legit all of them are in some form #of multi sided love shape of some description #and I’m so here for it??? #what is this 2012 #I’ve only read the first two pls no spoilers #the inheritance games #jennifer lynn barnes

I know it's not the worst thing about capitalism. But I do think there's something really *bad* about the fact that between lack of leisure time, lack of disposable income, and "hustle culture" mindset that for many, many, many people the primary/only way they are able to express their creativity and artistic aesthetics is through consumer culture. Buying stuff and displaying that stuff.

When like...making stuff. Drawing, painting, weaving, crafting, sketching is like, baked deep deep into our bones as humans.

But I know so many adults who haven't like...drawn a picture since they were children.

I have finished a pair of socks!

I like the pattern of the first sock more. I think the chaos suits the colors. But I like the second sock a bit more in general, because the cuff isn't as chaotic.

All in all it doesn't matter, because they are at home socks, and all the need to be is warm and comfy 😌

Draw badly. Write nonsensically. Embroider messily. Burn what you bake and cook. Get paint everywhere. Read half a book. Lose your mind for a bit. Plant things. Have faith in the process. Abandon 70 wood-carving projects. Get a kit and do some of it and never return to it. Get comfortable with sucking and losing motivation. Continue to create with reckless abandon.

Taivan dynamic is so much more painful if you think they were just hooking up pre-crash, not involving their emotions at all, just Van who was pretty easy to clock as gay & Tai who wanted to kiss a girl and thought Van wouldn’t mind.

Like if pre-crash, they never thought about being anything more than teammates who sometimes made out in the empty locker room. Then everything changed in the wilderness when all of a sudden there wasn’t a society full of bigots all around them and both of them were able to explore their sexualities & feelings for each other pretty much without judgement.

I personally look at their relationship as only happening because of those factors — before the crash, I don’t think Tai ever would’ve thought of confessing her feelings for Van. We see her cutting her hair in season one, seemingly getting more comfortable with being a bit more masc (similarly, in season two, after she leaves Simone she stops doing her makeup and starts dressing in progressively more masculine clothing). Essentially we know that when Taissa is out of “public” view & with Van, she stops performing femininity as much. So I feel like her ability to really be with Van was entirely dependent on the perceived safety of their isolated wilderness society. I focus on Taissa in this mostly because Van appears more comfortable with gender expression, as well as with romantically pursuing Taissa, whereas Tai seems to occasionally hesitate. We also know from Ally’s pre-crash comment about Van not being asked to prom that Van was probably either clocked as gay at school or just thought of as unromantic, whereas I think Tai would’ve had a much easier time passing for straight.

And in that way, it’s like a relationship that was formed entirely in the controlled environment of the wilderness. I cannot imagine coming to terms with your sexuality as a teen, going through the entire process of cutting your hair, publicly coming out to all your friends, and experiencing all your queer milestones, only to be rescued and returned to a place where you were still thought of as straight. Like, Tai and Van were sleeping in bed together every night, kissing in public, making little “happy wife, happy life” comments to their friends, and just generally being gay together. And then they would’ve returned to the 1990’s where that kind of queer love would’ve been, at the very least, unusual & surprising. It’s not difficult to imagine this driving them apart. But it is really heartbreaking to imagine the two of them being separated immediately upon being rescued & the realization they must’ve both had that they couldn’t stick together anymore without outing themselves.
