The Plan Chapter 1
Cayde’s light blue eyes felt like ice. His gaze was thin, trembling, like it could crack at any moment. He had never felt like this before, it was like he was helpless, watching those he loved succumb to a terrible fate. The Drifter had spent a whole month planning this out, The con-man was well known for his ideas, his “adventures”, Would this work? Was this just a stupid idea? Everyone had seen it, the future the Darkness had promised on the Moon. Erebus, Aneira, Drifter, they stood by Cayde’s side as they witnessed visions from the monsters in the shadows.  The Nine knew what was coming, the giant illusions had been dropping hints, little pieces of information to push them in the right direction, or so Erebus thought. That damn Warlock was too trusting for her own good, hell, the woman thought Drifter was a saint. To be fair, she thought Cayde was as well. What if this was all a trick? What if they went through with this, would they play right into the Nine’s large hands? What would happen to the Tower? The Hunters? Was this all a ploy to get them to lower their guard? Accept the Darkness? The Vanguard’s fingers slid to the back of his neck, rubbing the cold metal as he felt his chest rumble with worry. They were on a time limit and no one else seemed to care. The Red War had ended and apparently everything was butterflies and rainbows. Zavala refused to look into the future, claiming that the present was more important. Ikora was too busy with her studies, searching for someone she called an old friend. Someone had to do something. “...Let’s do it.” Cayde-6’s voice was soft, unusually so as the Exo’s blue eyes latched upon Drifter’s form. The Derelict’s captain let out a sharp chuckle, it dug deep into Cayde’s ears, causing the Hunter to almost flinch. “Ya sure? I know you talk a big game but you’ve always been a goody two shoes. Can ya really take this next step?” To outsiders, it may have looked like the older man was mocking the Hunter, pushing his buttons, but that couldn’t have been farther from the truth. The brunette knew his friend, his morals and loyalty, they all laid within that damn Tower. Andal was all Cayde had back in the day, Could he really leave it all behind? The Exo turned his head, the orange lights within his mouth flickered as he attempted to come up with the right words. Jokes weren’t right here. Neither was sarcasm. Taking in a deep breath, the Hunter spoke. “I’m sure.” Pure honesty was the only way forward. Drifter nodded, taking in Cayde-6’s words and responding with as much honesty as he could. “Yer making the right choice brother.” The Exo snorted, rolling his eyes as he felt the light in his body brighten. He needed to hear that. He couldn’t let Drifter know that though.
It wasn’t long before the girls arrived upon the Derelict. Drifter loved calling them that, Erebus and Aneira were his girls, Cayde’s girls. Family. Aneira and Erebus were always attached at the hip, the two had a connection that was powerful, raw, and loving. It was almost like the Darkness had connected the two. Erebus was returning from a job, her body covered in the snake gear Drifter had made for her ages ago, the grumpy old man claimed it was to keep her identity hidden but Erebus knew the truth. The boss had needed the Warlock to go “borrow” some parts from Lord Shaxx’s latest shipment of guns. The two would dismantle the Crucible weapons, using the parts to make brand new toys for Gambit. Erebus loved tinkering with guns, testing out each creation before she handed it Drifter, proud to give her boss something that worked. The Exo was loyal, clever, Drifter still wasn’t able to admit it right to her face but he loved her more than anything. Ever since the accident on the Moon and Erebus losing her human body, Drifter became even more paranoid, any day could be the last. Erebus was patient however. She had told the man every day that she loved him with all her heart and soul. She knew he loved her just as much, but with the con-man’s past, she understood him struggling to reply. The Warlock could hear his worries. Aneira’s small form was in her usual Hunter gear, somehow she always seemed to make everything look fashionable. Anything on her looked amazing, glamorous. The armor made Cayde-6 swoon, his feet felt like they were walking on clouds. The Exo could hardly believe he found someone so perfect, and somehow, she liked him just as much? If this was a dream, Cayde never wanted to wake up. Aneira was sly, quick, she had the biggest heart he had ever seen in a person, not to mention she loved his jokes. Clearly she was insane. As the small Guardian removed her helmet, her purple-pink hair fell in front of her amber eyes as they gazed lovingly upon Cayde’s tired form. The Exo knew from day one that Aneira was going to change his life. Now here they were, ready to tackle enemies of the future hand in hand. Cayde-6 couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
“Can...can we go over this again?” Erebus’s voice was uneasy as the Warlock placed the palm of her metal hand onto the map of the Clovis Exo Facility. The woman was so nervous, it felt like the entire universe was depending on this plan to work. That facility, it was like a monster. Something deep within was screaming, she could feel it. Darkness was everywhere, there was no doubt about that, but this building gave off such a horrible energy. Aneira could feel it too. Maybe even more so than Erebus. The Hunter placed a soft hand upon the Exo’s shoulder, giving her friend a smile. A gentle way of saying it will be okay. The girls had been best friends for years, they had come up with so many ways to comfort one another. Erebus could feel her metal lips tug into a smile, relaxing almost instantly from Aneira’s touch. Cayde’s hand sat on his chin, rubbing the metal of his jaw as his mind demanded another explanation of the plan. The Vanguard swore he listened but everyone knew it was a lie. Aneira could see the Exo’s eyes drift off, thinking about god knows what. Probably dinner, Colonel, or what color to paint his new sparrow. Drifter’s annoyed voice rose above the noise of the Derelict, the ship struggling to live as the man pulled one of his many jade coin’s from deep within his pocket. He may have had the best team in the whole universe but they had the listening skills of a four year old. “Alright! Let’s go over this one last time!” Drifter’s gloved thumb flicked the coin into the air, it sparkled in the ships dim lights causing everyone’s eyes to lock onto it.
Everyone’s eyes fell onto each other as Drifter’s coin landed firmly in the palm of his hand. The rouge may have finished speaking but it was clear everyone was still nervous. The old light felt a pinch of guilt floating around in his stomach. Drifter couldn’t do anything to ease the pain of what was to come, but he could damn well try. “Ya’ll look like the saddest vex in the system. We haven’t failed yet have we?” The con-man growled out, almost like he wasn’t just trying to convince the group, but himself as well. It had been ages, hell, thousands of years since he last had people in his life he could trust. The fear of it all crashing down made the back of his head burn. With a deep breath, Aneira opened her mouth, ready to voice her thoughts. “We can do this. But Ere and I would have to leave soon.” Cayde nodded, his blue eyes flashing with light as he remembered that his briefing with Zavala would be shortly. “You guys go now, I’ll head back to the Tower. Big Blue wants to talk to me, “correct behavior” and all that. It gives me a chance to stall so you guys can grab what you need and get back unnoticed.” Drifter’s hand reached up to his chin, playing with his beard. A sly grin coated his lips as the man spoke. “I’ll get everything set up here, that way we can start work right away when you get back.” Aneira turned, facing the Warlock who was busy staring at the center of the map. “Ere?” Erebus’s blue lights within her throat lit up as she spoke. “Do you think we can pull this off?.” Silence met the Warlock’s question. Cayde looked at Aneira, praying she would calm the Exo’s nerves but unfortunately Aneira had turned to look at Drifter, praying the same thing. “Kid-” As the older light bearer began to speak, Erebus quickly held up her hand, silencing the man. The Exo’s eyes were firmly locked on the map as she sighed softly. “No, I understand.” Slowly, Erebus gazed upon Aneira, a fake smile plastered on her metal mouth. “Let’s go.”
Europa was a horrible moon, full of snow and...well snow. If Erebus could shiver, she would have been. “How are you so okay in this weather?!” The Warlock yelled over the harsh winds. She was just metal and wishful thinking put together, how was the human fine in these temperatures? Aneira couldn’t help but laugh as the Hunter watched her friend struggle through a snowbank, only to trip and fall face first into the soft whiteness of the planet. “Well, for one, I know how to walk.” A muffled grunt left Erebus’s throat before the exo began to move her arms and legs in a sweeping motion. “The hell are you doing?” Aneira walked over to her friend’s form, barely hearing Erebus’s answer. “Front facing snow angels.” The Exo muttered through the snow before attempted to get to her knees. Aneira giggled, grabbing onto the Warlock by her shoulders and helping her up. “Can’t you float?” “Not since I lost my light.” Erebus said sadly, kicking the ground as she began to walk once again. Guilt filled the Hunter, following behind the Exo to make sure she wouldn’t fall again. “But it’s okay, just means I can make ice cream with stasis!” Others would think this was a joke but Aneira could feel the pure joy behind Erebus’s words. Somehow losing the ability to float was okay because now she could make vanilla soft serve.  She may have lost her light, but she certainly didn’t lose what made her special. “And you didn’t show me how?” The Hunter teased as she wrapped her hands around Erebus’s arm, helping the Warlock as they walked towards the facility. It took the girls almost an hour to reach, trudging through the endless white snow, untouched for centuries. By the time they got to the door, both women were tired, cold, wet. All Aneira and Erebus wanted was a break, unfortunately they didn’t have time for that. The doors to the monstrous building let out a hiss as they opened up for the women. “...Are you ready?” Erebus’s voice was shaky as she latched onto her friends hand, squeezing it as tightly as she could. The Warlock couldn’t explain it, this rush of familiarity. Had she been here before? Drifter had found her on Europa, but this building seemed different. “I’m ready.” Aneira replied, squeezing her friend’s hand in return.

Blood trickled down Drifter’s lips as the former Prince of the reef smashed his fist directly into the man’s face once again. It felt like his entire face was mush at this point. “I’ll ask again dear associate. Where is she.” Drifter let out a weak laugh as he spat blood onto Crows shoes. “What girl?” The dumber Drifter played, the worse Spider’s mood grew. Crow’s face twisted with anger as he watched the mans blood impact with his boots. What a filthy creature. “You’re making this harder than it needs to be old friend. We simply need to...borrow her.” Another chuckle left Drifters lips as his head tilted back. Everything was going black. He wasn’t gonna make it out of this was he? Was it worth it? “I don’t know w-what yer talking about.” This was it. The man knew it the moment the sentence left his mouth. He would never be able to see Moira again. Who knew what they would do to his body, would they force her to look at it? Would she find his tapes he left her? Drifters mind slipped into a warm dream as Uldren once again pummelled the man. All he could see was Moira, her brown eyes twinkling, she was wearing a beautiful green dress. She was cooking, whatever it was, it smelt amazing. The rouge light bearer slowly reached out, letting this dream overtake him.
Screaming. Terrified screeching, shattering ice. The sounds of death pulled Drifter from his dream and into the real world. The mans left eye was swollen, his nose was completely shattered and his jaw wasn’t where it used to be. Each bullet wound in his chest hissed with pain as his consciousness began to wake. It was so cold. Through blurry vision Drifter could barely make out what was happening. He wasn’t dead? A gurgled gasp left the mans throat as he quickly realized there was a corpse directly in front of his face. Stuck in a frozen tomb of ice stood what was left of the Crow. His arms had been shattered off as his face was twisted with pain. Scanning the room Drifter noticed that everything was covered in ice, bodies littered the floor. Some were frozen, some had ice jolting out of their chests. It was a massacre. “You BITCH!” Spiders strained voice echoed through the air startling the old man. “Get Away From ME!” Where was it coming from? His sight was too destroyed to see what was going on, his body too weak to stand. Suddenly spiders voice rang out and gurgled with pain and fear. Drifters form froze. Footsteps. Sounds of high heeled shoes began to make their way towards the former Dredgen. As darkness began to once again take over his tired body and soul his eyes met with the form slowly approaching him. “Boss! Shit, BOSS!” Soft gloved hands carefully cupped the mans face as Drifter struggled to stay awake “K-kid?” The man weakly spoke, his cold broken fingers reaching up and grabbing onto Moira’s hands. “Hang on, I’m getting you out of here! Just keep those eyes open okay?” A smile cracked onto Drifters destroyed face as he felt his warm dream overtake him. “BOSS!” Moira cried out as she quickly pulled Drifters form into her arms. “ELI!”
The man woke with a jolt. His fingers claws at the bandages on his chest, his eyes were wide and filled with fear. Cold. So so cold. Everything hurt, god everything hurt. With heavy breathing and panicked nerves the man quickly looked around whatever room he was in. With no warning, warm hands slipped onto his own and pulled them from his chest, gripping the broken fingers with kindness and love. Drifters vision was blurry but that act was enough to calm everything down. This looked like his room and that...figure... “Kid?” “Hey boss...” The woman smiled at her saviour as she carefully placed his hands back down on the bed and covered his chest with the softest blanket she owned. “H-how the hell did we get here?” The man asked as he sunk into his bed. He could barely remember what happened. Moira smiled and gently ran her fingers through the mans hair. Drifter almost melted into her touch “I carried you here boss. No one can get to you now.” Her voice was soft as she leaned forward and gave Drifter a gentle kiss on the forehead.

A Titan’s Gamble Chapter 7
So…” Hawthorne watched as Ryan rummaged through the broken boxes of supplies. She knew there was barely anything there but the Titan was as stubborn as always. “You wanna talk about Cayde?” “No. No I really don’t.” Ryan replied blankly. There was almost no emotion in his voice. “...Is that why you’re tagging along with those two weirdos?” The woman asked, gesturing out the window to Drifter building a strange small machine with Moira handing him parts. With a sigh Ryan slowly sat down on the barn’s flooring and grabbed another box, beginning to shift through. “They offered to help me. Unlike Zavala.” “Help you with what?” Hawthorne asked, her tone deepening. Her eyes grew serious as she listened to Ryan speak. She trusted the man with her life but sometimes he did incredibly stupid things. Was this one of those times? “Look, it’s not important to you-” “You think you’re the only one missing Cayde? You think I wanted to hear that Zavala had to rip him from your arms as you had a mental break down? He was my friend too! Now you’re all I got so YES! This IS important to me! So let me in!” Hawthorne rose to her feet as her hands moved with her words. The woman cared so deeply for Ryan, he was like a brother she never had, he was family. She could see the strain in his body, the light beginning to falter. He was her beacon. With a loud agitated sigh, the Titan turned his head and gazed up at the Clan Steward. He looked so lost, confused. It was like Ryan had completely lost his purpose in life. “They know who killed him. They’re gonna help me...get rid of the guy. His name’s Uldren.” Ryan spoke in a quiet tone, tossing aside the empty box and reaching for another. “Revenge? Ryan, you’re seriously gonna kill out of hatred?” Suddenly the Titan’s fists covered in flames as the man rose to his feet, meeting the woman on equal ground. “YES! BECAUSE IF I DON’T WHO WILL?!” Smoke flew from the man’s nose as he breathed heavily, anger rushing through him like a hungry ocean. Hawthone took a step back, her eyes huge and her hands reaching for the sniper behind her back. With a deep breath the fire left Ryan’s form as his eyes filled with sorrow. “I’m sorry, it’s just...Cayde did everything for us. Helped us in so many ways and his killer is just wandering around, watching us struggle without him. Zavala has gone bat shit crazy because of his death and now the only thing I can think to do is get revenge. To do it for Cayde because fuck, he’d do it for us.” Hawthorne’s eyes saddened as she heard Ryan’s words. The man had lost himself in the dark, but maybe this was the answer. Either way, Ryan needed family more than ever. Hawthorne gently placed her hand upon the Titan’s shoulder and gave the man a weak smile. “Then we do it together.” Ryan smiled back, placing his hand on top of the woman’s, looking into her eyes. He could see her fear, her confusion. Would he lose her too?
Moira handed Drifter the final piece for his strange little machine. “Perfect. Alright, gimme a couple minutes and this’ll be up and running.” The woman smiled under her mask and nodded.  As she stood by the man’s side Drifter chuckled and straightened his back, giving Moira a look. “Means you can go walk around kid, Ain’t nothin happening to old Drifter here.” Moira didn’t trust the place. Guardian’s were everywhere and Ikora was already pretty clear she hated the man’s guts. Leaving him alone sounded dangerous. “I’ll be fine.” Drifter spoke again, feeling the woman’s worry wash over him. His hands placed themselves on top of the woman’s shoulders before he spun her body around and gave her a shove, pushing her towards the fountain in the middle of the Farm. With an annoyed grunt, Moira found herself wandering towards the stone fountain, her fingers slightly twitching with worry. Drifter knew the woman wanted to explore and take in the sights, sometimes he had to force her. As the woman reached the middle of the shelter, her eyes fell upon a small child. It’s arm was in a cast and the kid had tears in his eyes. The thing must have been so confused. The small boy was sitting on the edge of the fountain, sniffling as he tried to make sense of everything around him. Moira carefully walked up to the kid, she was horrible with children but something in her wanted to try and cheer the thing up. The child gazed up at the woman with the snake mask, startled by the sudden presence. “U-Um...Hi?” The kid stuttered. Moira lowered herself to her knee’s and smiled at the child through her mask. The woman gestured for the young boy to hold out his hand. The kid was confused but more than willing to obey. As he did, Moira wiggled her fingertips above his hand, causing tiny snowflakes to fall into his palm. The child’s eyes widened with delight as he watched what he assumed to be a Guardian make snow. “How’d you do that!” The kid asked with glee causing Moira to laugh. She had never made a sound in public before. It was nice, freeing. Suddenly Drifter snapped his fingers. Loudly. Moira’s eyes widened as she heard her boss’s signal. Shit. Quickly the snow vanished and Moira rose to her feet. Ikora was directly behind her. “So you can laugh.” The Warlock said with a smug grin. Moira’s body tensed as she slowly turned to meet Ikora’s gaze. The brunette made no sound as she came face to face with the Guardian she feared most. Ikora was powerful, smart, strong. When Eris had made Moira’s existence known Ikora traveled from planet to planet, attempting to find her. Thankfully the Warlock never found out what she looked like and after five years of searching she stopped looking, sending her hidden to do the job. Drifter had always warned the woman of her, how’d she experiment on Moira if she ever got her fingers on her. Darkness wasn’t welcome at the Tower. “How’d you do that dear? It was very pretty.” Ikora’s voice was tauntingly soft, as if the Warlock was trying to lure the woman into a false sense of security. It would never work however. The kid nodded and smiled brightly. “Do it again!” The boy squealed out, gently tugging on Moira’s leather robe. Drifter’s second in command refused however, staying silent. Moira quickly straightened her back and placed her hands behind her, standing at attention. She had no idea what to do. Drifter thankfully came to the rescue, the man placing himself between the Warlock and the Dark creature. “Hey, hey, making my partner uncomfortable. Take a few steps back alright?” The man wasn’t asking and it was clear in his tone of voice. However Ikora wasn’t scared of him. “Why?” The Warlock pushed, looking for answers. The man’s face changed from a happy con man to a killer. “Cause I Asked.” His voice deepened as he pressed a hand against Ikora’s shoulder and gave it a shove. He had no fear towards the Warlock, minus her big ass shot gun. Under normal circumstances, shoving Ikora would be a death sentence. Thankfully for the Drifter, they needed both of them alive to get the City’s people to safety. The Warlock’s smirk grew as she placed her sight’s on Moira. The woman could feel the Vanguard’s raw power flowing through her, she was completely terrified of Ikora in every way. “He has you well trained.” Ikora purred before walking towards Devrim. Moira finally released the breath she had been holding in, her legs slightly shaking. Fuck, this was gonna cost them. Drifter turned his head and gave Moira a harsh look. “The hell were you thinking?” The man hissed out, grabbing Moira by the arm and bringing her back over to his work bench. “You wanna get killed? That’s how!” Drifter continued to speak in a hushed tone, his face covered in worry. Moira’s eyes saddened as she slowly looked down at her feet, unable to even think of an excuse. Sighing, Drifter rubbed his forehead before placing a hand on top of Moira’s head. “I-I can’t lose you. Okay? Just play it extra safe...please.” He gently gave Moira’s head a pat before giving the finishing touches to his new machine. Moira’s lips curled into a soft smile as she slowly looked up and watched the man. Words couldn’t express the joy going through the woman’s body. Drifter was horrible with words when it came to his emotions, but it was clear the man had just said “I love you”, something Moira had been waiting years to hear.
After a tense twenty minutes, Drifter stepped away from his work bench with a satisfied look upon his face. Alright. They were good to go. Moira walked along side the man as the two went to go meet with the others. Ikora and Devrim had been talking about survivors, helping everyone get ready for flight while Ryan and Hawthorne had been loading up ships with what little supplies they had. “Good news.” Drifter called out, catching everyone’s attention. Ryan was quick to walk over to the man, giving him a trusting look. “They’re all ready for us, they got some Awoken tech witches or whatever ya call em ready to help the dying folk and some guns, more than enough to arm everybody, plus food.” Moira gently grabbed Drifter’s hand and squeezed it, proud of him for making the call. It was hard for him to do with his history of the Dreaming City. Ikora quickly spoke. “I’m surprised. But thankful. Good work. Devrim, round everyone up and get them ready, Hawthorne, get Holliday in a pilot seat.” With a nod, the two were on the move, ready to get things started. Ikora smiled gently at Ryan. “Do what you can.” The Titan nodded before he shot Drifter a smile. Drifter smiled right back before the two were left alone with the Warlock. “I wish to speak to your friend alone.” Ikora said softly, turning to face the Drifter. The man’s back tensed, his form stepping in front of Moira as she normally did for him. “Nah, I ain’t really comfortable with that idea.” “I don’t need you to be. You both seem to be scared of me, yet you have no reason for that fear. We are all on the same team right now.” “And when that changes?” Drifter challenged, Moira’s hands clinging to the back of his robe. “Nothing will change. You’ve helped us. I simply just want to know more.” Drifter scoffed and rolled his eyes, his arms crossing his chest. “You warlocks and always wanting to know more, ya ever realize that it’s one day gonna get you killed?” The man was like a brick wall, unmovable and unwilling to sway. Ikora’s smile faded as she realized she was getting no where. “Fine. However, my offer still stands. If your friend ever wants to speak alone with me, I’d be more than willing.” “I’ll remember that.” Drifter growled, watching Ikora walk away.
“ALRIGHT PEOPLE, LETS MOVE!” Hawthorne’s commanding voice helped people climb aboard the ships, while Guardian’s carried supplies. As the last few people and supplies loaded, Hawthorne turned to meet Ryan’s gaze. “You coming with us? Or going with them?” Her voice had softened as she watched the Titan’s eyes. Ryan turned to look at Drifter and Moira, the two seemed to be waiting but for what? Slowly Ryan turned back to Hawthorne and gave her a smile. “I’m...I’m gonna go with them. Do you wanna join? They’re actually pretty neat once you get to know them.” A sad smile crawled on Hawthorne’s lips. “I’m good bud. I’ll see you there I guess.” And with that, the Clan Steward climbed aboard the ship. The engines began to start and the Titan took several steps back, watching as it flew into the sky. Drifter and Moira both smiled as they watched Ryan walk over to them. “Hey hero.” Drifter teased as he gently punched Ryan’s shoulder, making the Titan smile. “Quit that or I’m gonna start calling you Old man.” Moira laughed and snorted as the group transported upon the Derelict.
The trip to the Dreaming City took longer than everyone thought it would. Drifter had everyone take a special route, one told by his friend in the Reef. It would keep them safe and hidden from anyone attempting to find something in the vast emptiness of space. They had no idea what Zavala had planned, it was best to play it as safe as possible. Moira had thrown off her leather clock and was simply wearing a dirty white tank top and black jeans. Her feet were covered by mismatched socks. Drifter had taken her lead, his form now free of his large robes and covered in a black t-shirt and dirty gray sweatpants. His snake necklace still dangled around his form as he let out a yawn. Ryan had removed most of his armor, keeping his large boots on. The man had borrowed one of Drifter’s shirts, it was covered in grease and oil but it was better than nothing. “Do you guys know what cleaning is?” The Titan teased as Moira brushed the knots out of her long brown hair. “Cleaning? Never heard of her, she sounds cute though, tell her to hit me up.” Drifter laughed as he drank water from his glass, or so he claimed to be water. “Yeah, is she into three ways?” The older man carried on causing Ryan to let out a snort. The Titan rolled his eyes as he relaxed into his chair. Moira’s ghost had been zipping around the Titan’s head, examining him before flying over to Drifter, booping the man’s form. “Ack, fine!” The man snarled out, swatting at the creature before his own ghost came popping out. The two made chirps before flying off. “Damn bugs.” Drifter snarled as he took another sip of his drink. Moira smacked the top of Drifter’s head with her hair brush, smirking. “Hey, be nice.” She taunted before she tossed the brush to the side, sitting down in the chair beside her boss. “So you do have a ghost.” Ryan said with a smirk.“Yeah, I call her Farah. I told you I had one.” Moira said simply as she stole Drifter’s glass and took a sip from it. Drifter smiled brightly watching the woman. “Yogi’s my ghost.” Ryan said softly as Yogi appeared, flying around the table. “Hah that’s a great name! Did he give you the name Ryan?” Moira asked, curious. “Yeah, said it suited me.” Drifter laughed and stole the glass back from Moira. “I guess it does, I woulda called you Freddy.” Moira let out a giggle as Ryan’s face twisted with disgust. “Freddy? Really?” “Well what would you call me?” Drifter teased, giving Ryan a look. The Titan thought for a moment before a sly grin curled on his lips. “Shit face.” “Wow, nice to meet you shit face!” Moira joined in, reaching her hand out to shake Drifter’s. The rouge smirked and took Moira’s hand, shaking it. “Hello bitch tits.” Moira let out a fake offended gasp as she ripped her hand away from her boss. “Dirty man!” She cried out, pointing at Drifter’s face unable to hide her smile. Drifter smiled right back, getting to his feet as he held his hands in front of him. “Oh, we doing this?” Moira’s eyes filled with fear “DON’T TICKLE ME ASSHOLE!” The woman cried out as she began to run, Drifter on her heels as he laughed maniacally. Ryan couldn’t stop smiling. A part of him felt like he had chosen right. This was beginning to feel like home.
As everyone reached the Dreaming City, Drifter, Moira and Ryan had slipped back into their usual attire. None of them wanted too, the group craved sleep. Moira’s head rested gently on Drifter’s shoulder as she struggled to keep her eyes open while Ryan couldn’t keep himself from yawning. The older man smiled as he dug his gloved hand into Moira’s hair, playing her long brown locks. With a sigh, Drifter knew they had to keep going. “Alright, let’s go.” The man sighed. Moira’s eyes fluttered before she yawned along side Ryan, removing herself from her bosses form. Ryan got to his feet, struggling a little with his balance. “Think we can get some rest when we get in there?” The woman asked in a tired tone while Ryan stretched his arms above his head. Drifter thought for a moment. Petra was far more willing to help that he had first imagined. It felt like something else was at play. Maybe they’d finally have a chance to sleep inside the city’s walls once they scoped everything out. “Can’t imagine why not.” Drifter stated in a soft voice, his body trying to fight off sleep as he watched Ryan and Moira struggle.

Drifter’s Wild Card Chapter 3
It had been four months since the incident with Eris. The man hadn’t heard from Moondust since but the tower had gone crazy. Guardian’s began searching for the “creature made of Darkness” as the Vanguard put it. A dangerous being that had been born from the Dark, Guardians were everywhere on every planet searching every damn corner and trash can. Drifter however had to give some credit to Three eyes. She didn’t say where the girl was or what she was. A part of him respected her for it but another part of him was going crazy. Moira hadn’t been allowed to leave the Derelict since. The brunette gazed out the ships large windows, staring at each planet they passed with longing in her eyes. She would give anything to go out and explore, see each world and breath in some fresh air. But Moira understood, the risk was too great. Drifter had finally returned to the Derelict after a day of hell. The man was trying to find a way to bring his activities to the Tower without the Vanguard climbing on his ass or noticing what he doing. His original plan was completely destroyed by Eris as the Guardian’s he paid to help went on a wild goose chase for Moira. They didn’t know what she looked like, where she was but everyone was looking. As Drifter stepped out of the Airlock removing his robe from his body, a smile brighter than the Traveler's light met his eyes. “Hey boss!” Moira cheered as she practically hopped up and down excited to see him. She was like a puppy some days. “Hey kid, get that stuff done?” The man asked as he kicked his shoes off, walking towards the kitchen with Moira following right behind him. “Yup! Plus I finished the package for Spider, I got those guns all finished up and painted, OH! I also finished up that last bank! It’s good to go, all ready for Gambit!” The brunette let out a small laugh, happy with what she had achieved today. “Damn, you keep doing this good and I might be out of a job.” Drifter teased as he began to dig through the broken old fridge. His wandering eyes landed upon two meals already made for the man. A smile crawled onto his lips as he pulled the plates out and gave the woman a look. “Ya even made food?” He asked questioningly. Moira nodded and shot him a look right back. “I’m on this ship all day, you think I’m not doing everything I can to not be bored out of my mind?” She teased before leaving the kitchen. The Drifter smiled genuinely for what seemed like the first time in ages.
After the man ate, he walked over to the large black bag he had brought back with him. Drifter had been working on this for some time but he had issues with the final design. It was his gift to Moira, something that he thought would mean the universe to her. Plus, he had a job. Two pairs of hands were better than one. Moira had been in her room, staring at the drawings of each planet she made. The man had been kind enough to clean out one of his many storage rooms for her, letting her make the place her own. The woman’s ghost helped her color the walls with art, make soft blankets and even a small stuffed bear. Even if her ghost couldn’t speak, it was still her best friend. Drifter didn’t know if calling it a Ghost was right, it didn’t have an ounce of light in it an couldn’t do the same things as the others. Healing wasn’t an option from it and he had no idea if it could resurrect. Drifter highly doubted it could ever bring the woman back if she died. Still, Moira had gotten attached to the creature right away despite all of the rouge light bearer's warnings. To be fair though, she had gotten attached to him as well. Drifter wasn’t exactly the poster child of trust. Moira had given her Ghost a name that came to her mind instantly. Farah. She didn’t exactly know why that name came to her, it was almost like a part of a past life she knew nothing about. Farah was like a helpful pet, the ghost would share recordings of adventure’s it found even if the thing had no voice of it’s own. It helped Moira cope with not being able to leave the Derelict. “Knock Knock.” Drifter’s form leaned against the doorway of the woman’s room holding a box out to Moira. The brunette’s eyes widened as she smiled and hopped off the bed. She was wearing her Gambit leather robe with her heels still on. The girl was always ready to go it seemed.  “What’s this?” She asked her boss, taking the box from his hands. “Nothing big, just a little gift.” Drifter said softly. His eyes watched as the woman ripped open the box and gazed deep within. A small gasp left Moira’s mouth as she pulled an emerald mask from the box. It had a snake’s face, fangs and all, like it was ready to lunge and attack whatever came close. The woman quickly realized what this meant and her eyes filled with joy. “Boss-” “Suit up.” Drifter interrupted the girl before she could continue. The man wasn’t one for thank yous, but he did appreciate it. Moira smirked and nodded, adjusting her long brown hair as she slipped the mask upon her face. It fit her perfectly and felt like a part of her almost instantly. “We got a job to do.”
Moira’s dark brown eyes were wide as the two landed on the Reef. The beautiful colors, the light’s reflecting off of the crystals, it was almost surreal. The woman gasped softly as her heels sunk in the sand of the shore. The wind hitting her skin was a welcoming feeling. Drifter simply smiled and watched Moira react to the outside world for the first time. She had been so wonderful to him, helping wherever she could. It was only fair that he returned the favor. Sure, Drifter may not have been a kind man, but he wasn’t heartless. After minutes of the woman simply standing, taking in each feeling The Dreaming City brought upon her, Drifter spoke up. “Alright, ready?” Moira let out a hum and nodded. Her leather robe blew in the wind as her bare arms felt like they were being attacked by air. She loved it so much. “So where are we going?” Moira asked, keeping up with Drifter’s fast walking pace. The man was surprised how quick she was, like she had been ready to help him no matter what. Little did he know, Moira had been practicing almost everything. Walking quickly, dealing with attacks from behind, sabotaging machines, hell, you name it, she practiced it. Her ghost helped a lot in that area. It was almost like the creature knew she was going to be in peril for most of her life, Farah wanted to protect her and have Moira ready for anything. The Ghost was terrified of Guardians, the thought of one coming close to them was almost too much for the creature.  “Gonna test something. This place is covered in those taken things. Ya haven’t tried using any powers yet, let’s see what you can do. A test run we’ll call it.” Moira smirked beneath her mask. The woman was prepared to do whatever it took. Unknown to the Drifter, she had been practicing her powers on the Derelict almost every day, trying out new things, seeing how far her reach was. She was quite good with what she had been given and she was careful to clean everything up before the Drifter came back to the ship and saw. The woman trusted Drifter to the moon and back but a part of her was cautious. What if he saw her powers and got scared? What if he didn’t like what he saw? So many things entered Moira’s mind as she thought about what he might say if he saw the Derelict covered in ice. As the two walked, Moira couldn’t help but stare at all the beautiful things The Dreaming City had to offer, even the taken blights were gorgeous in the sunlight. It was so wild a place could be this perfect. If only she could bring this land back to the ship. Moira almost didn’t want to leave.
“Here we are. Ain’t it shining?” Drifter purred as he pointed to the doors of what could only be described as a castle. Moira’s eyes glistened as she took in the view. “Holy shit.” The woman muttered. The place was absolutely stunning. Taken energy covered it’s walls and climbed through glass windows but the crystal of the castle was still a sight to behold. As the doors grunted, opening slowly, Moira readied herself. She wanted to prove she could be more than a helpful hand on a ship. She would do anything for the boss. She could do ANYTHING for him, Time to show it. Almost instantly Taken began to appear, zipping closer and closer to the two. It was almost like the creatures had been locked away inside this giant building, cursed to forever wander it’s halls. The moment light entered the castle, the Taken became instantly agitated, running for whatever had set them free. Drifter reached for his hand cannon, the man assumed Moira wouldn’t be able to attack, maybe she could throw a few punches, maybe somehow use the light but Drifter was ready for the worst. He was overprotective in so many ways. Drifter claimed he didn’t care about anyone but hell, it was all a lie. The woman had reached inside his heart in a way no one had ever before, His soft chewy center had been exposed and fuck that made him nervous. A smirk crawled onto the woman’s lips as she watched her boss reach for his gun. It was clear to see what was going on in his mind, it was only fair for him to assume she had no plan, no powers, nothing. Moira was more than excited to prove him wrong. The moment the Taken got close, Moira’s hands went straight into the air, her body twisting with movement. It was almost like she was dancing. Ice flew from the palms of her hands, covering her entire arms in an almost armor way. The ice shot out from her hands began to cover the entire castle floor. Anything that had stepped upon the ice instantly was frozen. Taken screeches were stopped as each one of the creature’s became encased in ice. With a cocky smile she learned from Drifter and a snap of her fingers, anything that was frozen shattered into pieces. The sound of falling ice filled the air as the woman turned to look at her boss. Her smile was still on her lips, hoping she had passed whatever test he had planned. Moira was terrified, praying to whatever god was out there that she didn’t scare him. Drifter was a tough man and he had said on many occasion that nothing could freak him out this late in life. Moira hopped that was right. The man’s eyes were as wide as dinner plates, Drifter’s jaw had been dropped as he gazed upon the glistening ice that covered the castle. It had happened so quickly, Moira was more powerful than he could have imagined. This was perfect.  But what was that? It wasn’t light clearly, was this Darkness? Is this what using the Darkness as a tool would turn to? It was amazing, beautiful, strong. “Kid-” “I can show you how to use it.” Moira quickly cut the man off, her legs shaking slightly from nerves. The brunette was terrified that he was about to cast her aside. Drifter was quick to notice the nerves. The man placed a hand upon the woman’s shoulder’s causing Moira to take a deep breath in and relax. The touch of the man was always so calming. The cocky smile had been replaced with a soft gentle one as she gazed up at her boss through her mask. “Wasn’t what I was gonna say. Yer amazing. Think you could do that all the time?” Drifter tested, removing his hand from Moira’s shoulder. The woman nodded confidently. “I think I could.” A evil grin curled upon Drifter’s lips. Originally Moira was going to be his back up plan, a person who could do whatever needed to be done if he was downed but now...now he didn’t have to worry about that. The man knew exactly what role to give the woman now.
As the two began walking away from the castle, Moira tilted her head in curiosity. “So, why did we need to clear that castle out?” Drifter laughed and wrapped an arm around the woman’s shoulder, pulling her close to his body as they walked. “Eh, I promised Spider I’d clear some things up so he could sell them back to the Awoken. Figured it was a good chance to see what you could do.” “Ohhh I see.” The woman purred, leaning into Drifter just to fluster the man. Drifter’s face quickly blushed but the man held his ground, not giving in to the woman which caused Moira to laugh. “Hey, don’t get comfy. I got plans for ya kid.” “Can’t wait to hear them old man.”

A Titan’s Gamble Chapter 6
Hawthorne’s eyes were full of betrayal, The woman had placed her trust in Zavala, in the Vanguard, and this is what she got in return? The entire farm was covered in wounded Guardian’s without ghosts, dying civilians and smashed up Exo’s. This wasn’t the deal. A part of the woman thought that the City would be her final home. A place she could finally be at peace. Why did this happen? The man she decided to place her trust in, he was gone now, leaving an empty spot in her soul. Zavala had been a turning point in Hawthorne’s life, she finally felt as if she had a new purpose but now? That was all slipping away. At least Shaxx got most people here and Ikora was doing her best to heal everyone. Things couldn’t get any worse could they? Holliday’s eyes gazed up into the sky as she waited. Where was Shaxx and Ryan? Were they okay? They should be here by now right? The brilliant pilot twitched, her finger nails digging into her skin. A part of her wanted to fly right back to the Tower and make sure that they were alright but Holliday knew she couldn’t. That would risk too much. Like Hawthorne, Zavala had changed her life. All of this was almost too much, she needed her hero’s right now. Devrim jogged over to Hawthorne’s side and gently grabbed the woman’s arm. The man could see the distress printed all over her face. “I know you already thought of this my dear but this place isn’t safe.” The older gentlemen said softly. It was true. Zavala knew about the farm and it was probably going to be his first place to strike. He was smarter with strategies than any of them were. Where was Cayde when you needed him? The Exo would know exactly what to do. “We need people mobile before we can do anything Dev. How many days can we last here?” The woman asked quietly, attempting not to alert anyone. “Not even a day. We need to move, quickly.” “But where do we even go?” Ikora’s form suddenly entered the picture as the wounded Warlock spoke. “We don’t go anywhere. We wait.” Hawthorne and Devrim quickly turned to meet the powerful Warlock’s gaze. Was she serious? They had little to no supplies and she wanted them to wait? “You’re joking, right?” The Clan Steward whispered. Ikora spoke in a hushed tone. “We need to, We still haven’t heard from Ryan or Lord Shaxx-” Hawthorne quickly interrupted the Vanguard Warlock. “Then isn’t safe to assume that they’re gone? We need to think about our people, not our lost.” Devrim quickly placed a hand on the brunette’s shoulder and gave Hawthorne a smile. She had grown so much. “You’re right. But we can’t protect our people without them. I know Ryan very well. He’ll have a plan.” “For everyone’s sake I hope you’re right.”
“AHH FUCK, FUCK!” Ryan’s pained voice filled the Derelict as he crumpled onto the floor. The Darkness that had been shot into him started to overtake the Titan, curling through his inside’s and reaching for his mind. “Shit, SHIT!” Moira’s voice was frantic as she attempted to figure out what to do. She had no choice, she had to try and absorb the Dark out of him. If she could do it with motes, she could do it with Guardian’s right? Right?! “Okay just-just hold on!” The woman cried as she dropped to her knees and placed her hands upon Ryan’s gaping wound. “Ryan! It’ll be okay!” Yogi said in the most calm tone he could muster, the calm was a lie however. The ghost was terrified that he was about to lose his only friend. Yogi’s voice was practically screaming as he watched his Guardian struggle in pain. He couldn’t do this, He needed Ryan by his side. Drifter was quick to prop Ryan up, the man’s form pressed against the Titan’s back as he shoved him forward, closer to his second in command. Drifter gave Moira a nod, she could do this. The rouge lightbearer knew she could. She had to. “If yer gonna do something kid, Do It Now!” With a deep breath, Moira’s eyes closed. The woman was so nervous. She had never done anything like this before. The only Darkness she ever dared to even touch was the ones from the motes Drifter created. Slowly exhaling, the brunette began to focus. Ever so slowly the darkness began to crawl out of the man, answering the woman’s strange call. It was like her body was singing to it. The black liquid curled around the woman’s fingers and wrists, reaching up her arms as it finally left all of Ryan’s form.  As the last bit of Darkness was pulled from Ryan, the man let out a gasped breath before crawling back as fast as he could, His form shoved away from Drifter as his hands shook and his back crashed onto the hard flooring. Drifter was quick to let go of the Titan but even faster to check on his Second in Command. Moira’s closed eyes tensed as she absorbed the Darkness through her skin. It hurt so badly, a feeling she had never had before when she ate Darkness. It was so cold, so empty, but the pain was gone in a matter of seconds. So was her energy however. The woman let out soft pants as her hands pressed against the floor. A drop of sweat landed on the steel. “Ryan!” Yogi squealed before he gently rubbed up against his guardian’s face. The Titan was speechless, attempting to process what had just happened. It felt like his mind was going to melt, as if a hand reached straight into his brain and started pulling strings. He saw something or rather...someone? The form was shadow like, he couldn’t make out the figure but it was trying to say something to him. The moment Moira pulled the Darkness out of him, the figure vanished. Was he okay now?  With a weak smile, the Titan began to sit up, placing a hand upon the top of his ghost’s head and gave it a gentle rub. “Hey bubby…” At least the man still had Yogi. “You okay Titan?” Moira asked as Drifter helped the woman to her feet. Moira gave Drifter a kind smile before she walked over to Ryan and extended her hand out to him. The Titan took her hand, welcoming the help up to his feet. “You saved me.” The man stated, slightly shocked that she had. “I did.” The woman stated back, giving Ryan a calm smile. “Now, are you good?” Ryan nodded as he released the woman’s hand. “Yeah I-I feel okay.” Moira let out a relieved sigh. “Thank whatever god’s out there. I didn’t think that would actually work.” The brunette smirked, causing Ryan’s eyes to widen, “Oh that’s cool, no it’s fine, I’ll just be your test subject.” Ryan growled out as his arms crossed his chest. Moira laughed as she playfully punched the Titan’s shoulder. “Hey it worked though right?” The Titan rolled his eyes and let a small smile escape his lips. “Sure. You win.” The woman laughed once more and turned her attention to Drifter. The man was smiling as he watched the two interact. A part of Drifter hoped that this would become the new normal. Moira laughing and making jokes, Ryan staying on the Derelict. The two were going to be amazing friends. He could already sense it. That is, if Ryan got over his fear of the Darkness. The Titan would be amazing for his crew.  “Boss man? Where do we go now?” The brunette asked softly, gazing into her boss’s eyes. Drifter thought for a moment as he met Moira’s gaze. The man wanted nothing more than some alone time with her, his heart had been pounding in his chest since the kiss on the Tower, all he wanted to do was tell her how he felt, all his emotions, everything. He wanted to finally open up after thousands of years. Moira had been there, pounding and breaking down his walls since day one. It was time for him to finally let her in. It was freeing, knowing that he could. Unfortunately now wasn’t the time for that. “You said the farm, right kid?” Drifter reluctantly removed his gaze from Moira and stared at the Titan. Ryan nodded, rubbing the back of his head. “Yeah, they said they were taking everyone there.” Drifter’s head tilted to the side as he scratched his beard. If they went to the Farm it could mean trouble. Zavala was sure to attack that place soon once he healed up, who knows what kind of army he has built up now? But, if he was alongside a hero, helping others to a safer place then he could be put on Ikora’s nice list. A thing that would certainly pay off in the future. Not to mention, he still needed Ryan to help him with cleaning up the shore. Spider didn’t care about delays, the job needed to be done. Drifter needed that power supply. Moira smirked as she watched her boss deep in thought. She loved watching him ponder. He was clever, crafty. It was an amazing experience to be apart of it. Ryan thought otherwise as he tapped his foot impatiently. “So what’s going on, are we going to the Farm or what?” The Titan interrupted Drifter’s thought process causing Moira to let out a small laugh. The rouge shot Ryan a look before he turned to the cockpit of the ship. “Alright. Let’s get to the farm.”
It took only a matter of minutes for the group to transport onto the familiar land. The moment Ryan’s feet touched the ground, a part of the man felt at home. The Farm was a beautiful place, a spot where he felt safe. It had been ages since he last visited which was his own fault. Ryan always told himself he was far too busy with the Vanguard to pop down. A lie, the man was always worried that if he came down here again he would never return to the Tower. Hawthorne was the first to spot the group, relief flew over the woman’s form as she quickly hopped down from her perch and ran towards them. “Thank the Traveler…” She huffed as she grabbed Ryan by the arm and pulled the Titan into a hug. Ryan smiled, hugging the woman back just as tightly. Hawthorne had become a close pal since the Red War. Cayde would normally bring her along on missions and the two grew close as time passed. She didn’t care about rules, which was refreshing to the Titan. She made terrible jokes and she had her priorities straight. Hawthorne knew who she was. It was nice.  Moira smiled, watching the two interact. The woman had her replacement snake mask on and was close to Drifter’s side. Even if they were in the middle of a disaster, she didn’t want to risk anyone remembering her face. It was safer this way for everyone, especially Drifter. The rouge lightbearer smirked as he looked down at the woman by his side. Gently, his hand curled around her fingers, giving them a squeeze. Moira’s entire face turned red along with her ears. She let out the softest squeak before she slowly inched closer to her boss’s form, resting her head on his upper arm. Drifter’s cheeks heated up as a proud smile grew on his lips. “Cocky bastard.” Moira muttered causing the man to laugh victoriously. Devrim and Ikora were quick to follow in Hawthorne’s footsteps once they saw the woman running. The group was thrilled and relieved to see Ryan alive and unaffected by Zavala’s attack. “Where have you been?!” Hawthorne snarled out as she ripped away from Ryan’s form and gave the man a smack on the shoulder. “Hey ow!” The Titan teased, causing Devrim to chuckle. “I needed to regroup. Is everyone safe here? How long do we have?” Ryan threw out questions fast causing Ikora to let out a sigh. The Warlock gazed upon the hurting people. There was no where to go and it was only going to be a matter of time before Zavala’s army came knocking. “Not long at all I’m afraid.” The older gentleman said softly, meeting the Titan’s gaze. “We have little to no supplies and we need to move. We have nowhere to go however.” Moira’s eyes widened as she looked up at Drifter, wondering if he was thinking what she thought he was. “Shit...with the Tower off limits, where can we go?” Ryan muttered as he went deep into thought. There had to be a place somewhere right? Ikora let out another sigh as she turned her gaze towards Drifter and the strange woman. “Glad to know you’re alright.” She said in a kind tone, giving Drifter a clearly fake smile. The man countered with an equally fake grin. Moira removed herself from Drifter grasp, straightening her back and placing her hands by her sides. She was like a solider, always ready to protect what was most important. “Well that just warms this old heart of mine. Lucky enough, I know a place.” The man purred as he began to walk towards Ikora, Moira in tow. Hawthorne and Devrim stared at the con man, aware of his crimes and how he was not the man of trust he claimed to be. “They owe me a favor. Besides, Zavala losin his mind is gonna cause everyone problems. Might as well get an army of our own.” Ikora’s eyes hardened as she challenged the man’s gaze “And where do you suggest we go?”  “I’m sure you’ve heard of it. The Dreaming City?” Ikora’s eyes widened as the words left the man’s lips. The dreaming city? He had to be joking, Guardian’s were far from welcome there. “Thing is, we gotta contact someone first.” Hawthorne turned to face Ryan, her face said it all. Was this man to be trusted? Unfortunately they had to. Drifter was all they had right now and the damn smug bastard knew it. He was gonna use this to his advantage, Ryan knew it. A part of the Titan admired him though. Drifter was damn smart, almost as smart as Ikora. He was sly, charming. He knew how to put things in his favor. “Then contact them.” Ikora stated. She was no longer playing around. Every second passing was time for Zavala to regroup. “Alright sister. Remember, you agreed to this.” The man teased as he turned, beginning to walk over to whatever tech the escaping people of the city had been able to salvage. Drifter wouldn’t be able to get a hold of his contact without getting on an untraceable line. Petra, the Queen’s Wrath, owed him a big favor. Now seemed like the perfect time for her to repay him. “We’re going to regret this.” Devrim stated, letting out a soft huff. Hawthorne crossed her arms against her chest, glaring at the ground. “Great, the shadiest man ever survives but we lose all the Titan’s. That’s a GREAT deal.”  Moira smirked and gazed up at Ryan. She knew what the boss was doing, who he was calling. It would be interesting to see if the Queen’s Wrath would agree to help. There was practically a war going on in the City, how would he sell this? A part of the woman wanted to go listen in, see how he charmed his way to victory but another part of her didn’t want to let these people out of her eye sight. She trusted none of them, well...besides Ryan. Ikora had made it very clear she would destroy Drifter if she could.  The Titan turned and gave Moira a look. She knew Drifter better than anyone else. Ryan needed a little bit of hope right now. A smile, a gesture, anything to let him know that they were gonna be okay. Moira gently grabbed Ryan’s forearm and gave it a squeeze. A good enough sign for him. With that the Titan turned to Ikora, Hawthorne and Devrim. “Let’s get these people ready.” Ikora nodded, beginning to walk over to the Guardian’s while Devrim turned to help the lightless who had been wounded. Hawthorne however had not moved. The woman stared into Ryan’s eyes, watching. Something about the man had changed and she wasn’t sure she liked it. It was like his light had dimmed. “Ryan. You really trust this guy?” The woman tested. Ryan took a deep breath and thought. After everything, Drifter and Moira had saved his life. They at least earned a bit of his trust, not all of it, but a tiny portion. “Unfortunately yeah...yeah I do. Now please, let’s get these people moving.” Hawthorne was unconvinced but walked alongside Ryan as they moved towards the supply shed, packing what could be of use. Moira watched as the group dissipated, beginning her walk over to the boss. Time to be heroes.

A Titan’s Gamble Chapter 5
The curiosity from Ryan had not ceased as the group flew to the Tower. The anger had dissolved into something else entirely.  A thought rang through the Titan’s head as he began to connect the dots. Ages ago, at least a solid hundred years, a warning was issued. A monster born from the Darkness had come, it was hiding somewhere and the Vanguard had sent out every Guardian they could to find it. Ryan had been one of them, searching every planet he could hoping to find this dark creature. But it wasn’t some animal, no. It was a human. It was HER! After months of searching, sleepless nights and anger being taken out on his fellow guardian’s, Ryan had given up. How had he not realized it was a person, not a creature? Drifter glared at Ryan, watching as the Titan figured everything out. The man was more than ready to take the Young Wolf out if he had to. Sure, the fate of the universe and hell, his own life rested on the Titan’s shoulders but nothing was going to hurt his second in command, not on his watch. Moira was completely unbothered however. She had proven that she wasn’t a threat. She helped Ryan out and risked her own life for him, would he really turn on her now after what they had been through with the Rider? She didn’t think the man would, not with his kind of ethics. The Drifter’s hand was firmly on his hand cannon tucked into his belt. His protective form stood between the Titan and Moira as they finally arrived at the Tower. “What the-” Drifter’s voice was soft as his eyes gazed upon the gruesome view. Flame’s spewed from the top of the Tower, growing higher and higher as ships burst forth, attempting to get away, escape. People were pushing each other out of the way, attempting to reach some sort of safe haven from whatever was chasing them. Exo parts laid scattered upon the ground while blood splattered next to them. The group couldn’t believe what they were seeing. No. This couldn’t be real. “Holy Shit.” Moira breathed out. Her mind was scrambling for answers as she turned to look at her boss, the man who she thought knew everything. Drifter was speechless for the first time in his life. Ryan had already made his way for the airlock. This was his City, his damn home and if anyone thought they could destroy it, they would have to answer to him. Drifter looked at Moira, worry in his eyes. The two needed to get down there and fast. If something got his machines, who knew what kind of trouble it could cause? Moira returned his look and gently placed a hand upon his chest. “Let’s go.” She whispered before the two turned and ran for the airlock after Ryan.
The Tower’s heat was almost unbearable from the roaring fire. Blood had been splattered all over the walls and screaming echoed through the rooms. It was almost as bad as when the Cabal attacked. Specs of Darkness were floating through the air as the Tower’s flags burnt to a crisp. Ghosts were flying all over the place, trying to help their guardians and protect the people. Hunter’s and Warlock’s corpses littered the ground while Titan’s were nowhere to be seen. Ryan’s feet could barely keep him up as he gazed upon the horrid scene in front of him. What had happened?! Dammit, why did he leave the tower?! “RYAN!” Shaxx cried out, running towards the City’s hero. “Thank the Traveler you’re here! We need to evacuate the citizens!” Without even bothering to think, the Titan nodded, following Shaxx’s lead. The two ran through the buildings and the Last City grabbing every lightless civilian they could. Tess, one of the Awoken who ran the Eververse stand, was shaking as she carefully helped the two bring children to the evacuation point at the lower part of the Tower. “What happened?!” Ryan yelled out as he reached the hanger, helping people one by one onto the evacuation ship. “Zavala. He’s gone-gone mad.” Shaxx’s heart hurt as he spoke, getting the last child upon the ship before turning to meet the Titan’s gaze. “We need every Guardian out of here now, he has this device. A weapon! He shot the Titan’s with it, It’s almost like they’ve been Taken! He attempted to use it on Ikora but it only cut through her body, He claims she has to use hers on the Warlock’s so that no one else will be lost, it doesn’t make sense! The man is spewing nonsense!” Ryan’s eyes widened as he took in Shaxx’s words, this was all a bad dream, it had to be! A weapon that could take Guardian’s? Drifter was the only man who would know about this kind of thing, he had to find him. Holliday quickly climbed onto the ship and looked at the two Titan’s. The blonde prayed that they had a plan, any kind of plan. Zavala meant the world to Holliday, if she lost him...no, they would figure it out. She just had to believe. “Ya’ll need to hurry! I’m taking them to the farm! Ya better be there or I’ll be pissed!” The woman stated before the ships dock closed and it took off towards salvation.
Moira was shoving everything into large black garbage bags, chucking them onto the transporter in the middle of Drifter’s room. The Tower was filled with screams and blood, she needed to get everything out NOW! The Drifter had told her he needed to search Zavala’s office, he had an idea of what happened but he had to be completely sure. As she practically threw everything onto the transport pad, beaming it upon the Derelict, she heard the sounds of stomping feet making it her way. The woman’s body tensed as she held her breath and placed herself in the dark corner of the room. She just needed to get the bank out of there and they would be home free. Her eye’s widened as she saw what was making the noise. It was Titan’s! Their eyes were all pitch black and their movement’s were almost Taken like. She could practically taste the Darkness leeching off of their bodies. Her hands slapped over her mouth as she attempted to not make a noise, praying that the zombie like creature’s hadn’t seen her. But it was too late for that. They were like blood hounds. Two large male Titan’s stepped into the room, their eyes locking on Moira’s form. Their mouths didn’t move and their eyes remained unblinking. She quickly began to raise her fist in hopes that she could freeze them in place and run but the Titan’s were strangely faster than ever before. One of the men grabbed her by the wrist’s shoving her form into the metal bookshelf causing her to cry out in pain. Her eyes watered before she began kicking her feet and screaming. “LET GO OF ME YOU BASTARD!” She cried out, attempting to wiggle out of her captures hands. Suddenly the Titan let go of one of her wrist’s and slammed it upon her neck, beginning to choke the woman. Moira’s eyes widened as she attempted to break away, gasping for air as the Titan squeezed her neck like a squeaky toy. Suddenly a loud gun blast echoed through the room and both Titan’s fell to the ground in a matter of seconds. Blood dripped from between their eyes but strangely no Ghost’s came to their rescue. Moira’s form dropped as she covered her neck, coughing and gasping as she took in as much air as she could. Drifter’s blue eyes were hard and cold as he glared down at the dead creatures on the floor. “B-Boss!” Moira cried out as Drifter placed his hands on the woman’s waist, helping her to her feet. “The bank...” She breathed, attempting to gesture to the machine. Drifter nodded, checking the woman over before he rushed over to the bank, beginning to unscrew it from the floor. “They’re like zombies, what are they?” The woman asked, beginning to dismantled the top of the machine. “It ain’t looking good kid, I got no sweet clue how big blue got his damn hands on it but we gotta hurry! Go get that Titan, Ryan!” Moira’s brown eyes looked at her boss with fear. “I can’t leave you!” She cried out, dropping to Drifter’s side as she gazed upon her hero. “You gotta, this all rides on you kid, if ya can’t help him, we can kiss all of this goodbye.” The brunette swallowed hard and nodded. She had to do it didn’t she. With a deep breath, Moira grabbed onto Drifter’s face and turned the man’s head to face hers. “Please! Be safe.” The woman begged before she smashed her lips against her bosses. Drifter’s eyes filled with joy, panic, confusion, happiness. So many emotion’s hit him all at once but it vanished quickly. Moira ripped her form away from the man and ran out of the room, searching for the Titan. Drifter could only watch as the only thing he loved left. If he couldn’t pull this off they were all as good as dead. Still, Drifter had been waiting for this moment for over a hundred years. The two had always seemed to play chicken, unable to tell the other how they felt. If one attempted, something would always get in the way. This was the best kiss he had ever had. A smile grew on the rouge’s lips as a new kind of determination filled his body. It was go time.
“SHAXX!” Ryan’s pained voice screamed through the air as the master of the Crucible fell to the ground, shaking and twitching. “There you are Ryan.” Zavala had cornered the two. In the Vanguard’s hand was a weapon bleeding with Darkness, you could hear it whispering your deepest darkest thoughts and secrets to you. Suddenly Shaxx’s body halted movement. It was clear the man was fighting whatever was trying to take over his form but he couldn’t stop it. It was like every little bit of who Shaxx was had leaked out and vanished. The awoken’s lips curled into a smile as he watched Shaxx slowly begin to stand up like a monster, his movements were not his own. “S-Shaxx?” Ryan called out to his friend once more, praying for a response but the man was silent for the first time in his life. “Will you join me Ryan? Or do I have to shoot you as well.” The Vanguard’s voice was twisted and grey, completely corrupted with Darkness. Suddenly a giant ice staff rammed it’s way through the Vanguard’s stomach causing Zavala to throw up blood all over Ryan’s form. Shaking, the Vanguard dropped to the floor. Shaxx turned, ready to attack whatever had hurt Zavala but was quickly encased in ice. “RYAN!” Moira cried out, grabbing the hurt Titan by the hand. She pulled Ryan to his feet and began to drag him back to the Drifter’s room in the tower. “We Have To Go!” She cried, as Ryan’s eyes stared blankly ahead. He couldn’t wrap his brain around what was happening, it was all going so fast. What was that gun, why did it have the word “Titan” carved into it and why did Zavala have another one on his belt with the word “Warlock”? “Come ON!” Moira screamed, causing Ryan to snap out of it and run. “Ryan!” Zavala called out, struggling to his feet.
The two reached the Drifter just in time, the man had just finished dismantling the machine and had propped it on the transporter. “Get on!” Drifter shouted, grabbing the two by the arms and pulling them along side him on the pad. “We gotta get out of here, where were the people being taken?!” Drifter looked Ryan in the eye, demanding locations faster than Ryan could think. “The EDZ, The farm!” With a nod Drifter hit a button on the pad. Zavala’s form appeared in the doorway, his weapon pointed straight at Ryan’s stomach. “NO!” The Vanguard cried out as he fired a bullet. The black darkness shot through Ryan’s form. “RYAN!” Moira screamed, grabbing onto the Titan as Drifter gripped onto Ryan’s arm. “SHIT!” The older man snarled as The transport fired and the group vanished.

A Titan’s Gamble Chapter 4
The moment Ryan stepped into the Spider’s den a horrible stench overcame him. The man’s dark brown eyes instantly watered, it was so powerful it almost knocked the Titan off his feet, causing Drifter to let out a chuckle. The older man was used to this, the shit he smelt when he was out on his own trying to survive, this was fresh air compared to his adventures. It was a mixture of gasoline, blood and sweat. There were other scents hidden within the stench but Ryan wasn’t exactly interested in finding out what they were. Drifter walked ahead of the man with Erebus directly by his back, she was clearly protecting him, making sure nothing could get to him when his attention was forward. They must have done this thousands of times. Their movements were almost snake like, they trusted each other to the moon and back. Ryan was behind the woman, constantly checking over his shoulder. As they walked the Titan thought he realized his role in this whole operation. He was the muscle, Drifter was going to use him to try and scare whatever was down there. The Titan prayed that he could fit the role and that nothing went awry. Little did the man know that he wasn’t there to strike fear into anyone. He was part of a deal. After a few minutes of thin hallways, they made their way up to one of the strongest fallen in the universe. Drifter had said it’s name was Spider, the only law on the Shore. The creature was bigger than any Fallen Ryan had ever seen. It’s stomach bounced as the Eliksni spoke and coughed, it’s eyes were like daggers piercing into someone’s soul. It held a royal kind of energy, someone who gives orders and plans attacks. Ryan knew very little of the Fallen. The Titan in a way felt responsible for the Traveler leaving the Eliksni. The strange god had decided to bless them, abandoning the Fallen, letting them suffer in the darkness and made them become pirates, mercenaries, desperately trying to find a new home. It turned the Titan’s stomach, causing Ryan to try and forget any information about the race. It only reminded the Guardian that the Traveler could leave them without even a moment’s notice. “Ah, if it isn’t my little...Friends.” The Spider spat his words at the Drifter, his right arm fiddling with what appeared to be a dead ghost while his other arms rested on his legs. The Titan’s eyes snapped onto the dead ghost shell, anger beginning to rise. What the hell?! The Eliksni smirked, seeing that he had caught Ryan’s attention. The creature’s gaze moved on from Drifter’s form and onto the Guardian. “I see you brought a new pet.” Clearly this was a jab at Erebus but the woman neither moved nor spoke. What’s your name?” The Titan’s fist clenched as he attempted to tear his eyes off the dead ghost. Quickly, his brown eyes met with the fat Spider’s, it was clear the creature was trying to dominant him. “Ryan. Maybe stop playing with a dead thing huh? Show it some respect.” The Titan snapped, refusing to let his eye contact with Spider sway. The creature was silent for a moment before he broke into laughter. “Have it your way.” Suddenly, Spider crushed the ghost shell within his hand and let the bits of metal tumble to the ground. “Whoops…” Ryan’s eyes sharpened as he felt his face turn hot. The Titan’s form flinched as he felt a cold hand on his back through his armor. It was Erebus attempting to calm him down. She moved from Drifter, standing next to the Guardian giving him a look. With a deep breath Ryan tore his eyes away from Spider, allowing the Fallen to win the battle of dominancy and took a step back. Erebus gave the man a nod of thanks before she made her way back over to Drifter. The Fallen watched the woman return to her boss’s side. The creature had an interest in her, if only he could get his fingers on the snake. If he had her, Spider was certain Drifter would do anything to get her back. “Maybe someday I can see under that mask, perhaps I would lessen the price of some supplies.” The Spider purred at the woman. The brunette did not respond as she stood silently next to her boss. She was like a brick wall. Drifter purred right back at Spider. “See, she only does that for people she likes, maybe toss in a few extra things and we can see about next time huh?” The fallen clearly did not appreciate the teasing but he let it slide for the moment. “You did your part. The Glimmer is on it’s way to the tower, no tricks. Here’s your payment.” The Spider gestured to one of it’s foot soldier's holding a rather large black box. It had a strange energy humming from it. The old man’s smile was all teeth as he snapped his fingers. Erebus moved instantly, walking over to the Fallen Spider had by his side. The creature was holding the package as tightly as he could, terrified of the girl. She could almost taste the Eliksni’s fear. The woman ripped the package from the creature’s four arms and returned to her bosses side. Drifter opened the package in Erebus’s grasp as she held it out for him. With a satisfied smile, Drifter closed the package and gave Spider a nod. “Now, I have another deal for ya. I heard you were having problems with a prince.” The giant fallen’s head tilted, clearly interested in what Drifter had to say. The Shore had become an absolute mess. “I know someone who’s more than willing to take the man out, maybe even help with the Trickster and the others. For the right price.” Ryan’s eyes widened. This was it, the moment Drifter proved he would help the Titan out. But this wasn’t what they discussed. Was Drifter using him as a pawn? “And what is that price…” The Spider growled, his fingers beginning to twitch. “Simple, ya know that power supply you’ve been hiding from me? Maybe old Drifter can finally get his hands on it.” The creature went deep into thought as he debated the deal. It was clear the Eliksni didn’t trust the Drifter but the thought of restoring law to the shore and destroying those bastards was more than appealing. All of Spider’s trade routes would be clear and perhaps a Guardian wandering through the place could bring a new kind of fear and respect to the Spider. All those who dare to disobey would meet a painful end by the hands of a Titan. It was too good to be true. Ryan’s face twisted with emotion as he glared at the Drifter. He didn’t like this, this was gonna end badly, the man just knew it. After minutes of silence, no one moving and no one daring to make a sound, the Spider let out a sigh and put on his best face. “A deal’s a deal. You get the power supply the moment the shore’s clean to my standards. If it isn’t done by two weeks, you can kiss the power supply and your glimmer to the tower goodbye.” Drifter’s shoulders visibly flinched. The old man knew this was a terrible idea but he had to place it all on the Titan. With a charming smile and a shrug of his shoulders, Drifter nodded and spoke. “Sounds like a deal to me. Care to give us a lead?” The man asked in a rough voice. It was clear Drifter was playing a part, attempting not to care, pretending that this didn’t matter to him at all but in truth everything was riding on this. He needed that power supply, this is why he needed Ryan in the first place. Gambit wouldn’t be able to grow and evolve without it, of course the most stuck up creature in the universe had their grubby little fingers on it, unable to tell it’s worth. “The Rider has a den, not far from the main road. You can grab her attention easily if you can find her pikes. Her garage is nearby...” The Spider purred once more before giving a wave of his hand. Instantly the foot soldiers by his sides began to raise their weapons and walk towards the group. “See you in two weeks my friends.” Drifter quickly began to back up, Erebus stood in front of her boss as she gestured for the Titan to follow. Ryan had no complaints as he followed the two out of the den.
The moment they stepped out of the horrid den Ryan took a deep breath, thanking the Traveler that he didn’t have to take in that stench anymore. Ryan’s fists began to twitch as his mind screamed in anger. That fucker, this wasn’t part of the deal! He would help out but not like this! Cayde-6’s murderer was still out there and they were chasing one of his lackeys?! What good would this do?! Drifter’s hands went deep into his hair as his mind traveled from thought to thought. This became more intertwined with his own goals than he had wanted. If Ryan couldn’t do this, he could kiss everything goodbye. The woman saw the stress in Drifter’s eyes and gave the man a gentle pat on the back. The Drifter turned his gaze to Erebus and smiled at her genuinely. Ryan didn’t even think the man could be genuine about anything. “So was this always your plan? Use me to get what you want? Our goals cross paths and you think you can just use me?” The Titan’s voice was rough and deep, glaring at the two as he began to take long strides towards them. Erebus was quick to stand in front of Drifter, like it was a habit to protect the man. “Hey hey, Easy!” Drifter carefully moved from behind the woman’s protection and gave Ryan a look. “Ya knew I needed something from you from the start, You agreed to this...remember?” The older man’s voice was like gravel as the Titan sighed and placed a hand on the back of his neck. He was too hot headed for his own good some days. Drifter was right, he was the one who agreed to help with deals even if it ended in misery. Plus, rouge was straight forward with him the day they met. Dammit, why was Ryan like this? Swallowing his pride, Ryan looked Drifter in the eye and crossed his arms against his chest. “I’m sorry.” “Sorriest thing I’ve ever seen.” The man spat out.
“Boss, do you really want me to help?” The woman asked, confused on Drifter’s plan. He had always kept her as a guard, constantly by his side. If she hid her face and never spoke, no one would know where to look for her, she was as good as a ghost. Drifter liked it that way, she was his dirty little secret, a plan B that never expired. If she got caught and someone noticed her then that plan B would be good as gone. With a nod, the older man spoke seeing the confusion in his partner’s eyes. “Listen, if he doesn’t do this, we can kiss Gambit goodbye.” The woman’s teeth grit as worry covered her face. She didn’t like leaving Drifter alone for too long. The man always found trouble. “Then you have to promise me that you’ll stay on the Derelict and you wait.” Drifter laughed and patted the woman on the shoulder. “Hey who’s the boss here?” The man joked, attempting to lighten the mood. Erebus sighed and quickly hugged the man before she pulled back, refusing to give him anytime to react. Drifter was terrible with affection. “We’ll see you soon boss.” Drifter’s face slightly brightened with a red before he smirked, winking at the woman. With that, the man transported onto the Derelict and began his long wait. Erebus turned to Ryan, the Titan was already figuring out routes and ways to reach the Rider. “Alright, where do we start?” The woman asked, walking right up into the Titan’s personal space. Taking a step back from the snake lady Ryan spoke. “Here.” The man pointed to the road directly in front of them. “Apparently she has a den you can only enter if you have the keys, her goons have to them. They’re all riding pikes, we’ll need to steal two in order to get into the den either way.” The brunette nodded before she quickly ran into the middle of the road. A group of Scorn were already heading their way, luckily enough it was exactly the one’s they wanted. Each pike had a special flag on the back, The Rider had groups of her scorn riding around the Tangled Shore every twenty minutes or so as a fear tactic. Nothing could get on the roads without being shot down by those pikes. Erebus wasn’t waiting around. Leaving Drifter to his own devices meant she could be returning to a ship completely engulfed with flames. As the Scorn aimed their pikes for the girl, she waited. “Three...Two...ONE!” She cried out, her hands slammed upon the dirt road causing a giant wall of ice to shoot up from the ground. Each Scorn smashed into the wall, their pikes flying in different directions while the bodies of the Eliksni lay battered and broken. The ice vanished in an instant and the woman ran for one of the lesser destroyed bikes. “Grab one!” Erebus called out to the Titan who had been standing there with his jaw completely dropped. What was that power? There was no way it was from the Traveler. Now that the man thought about it, he had never seen the woman pull out a ghost. What was she? Shaking himself back into action, Ryan ran for the bodies of the Scorn. Each one was laying like a rag doll, their limbs facing different directions. As Ryan quickly searched the corpses he found what seemed to be two gold plated keys for the den. Perfect. As he grabbed a pike, Erebus quickly revved her engine and began to drive, Ryan was quick to follow. “So where are we going?!” The woman called out, looking beside her. The Titan was incredibly good at driving that damn thing, almost a natural. He caught up to her in seconds which was impressive. “To the Boils!” The woman nodded as the two shot through the Tangled Shore.
It only took them minutes to arrive. The Tangled Shore looked huge but in reality it was quite a small place. As the two drove, their eyes instantly fell upon what seemed to be a raiding party. It was directly in front of what had to be the Rider’s den entrance if the Spider had been telling the truth. Cabal had set up shop and the Scorn were fighting tooth and nail to get rid of them. The Titan watched as scorn harassed and destroyed the disgusting creatures. A part of him didn’t want to stop it, he enjoyed watching the Cabal get wrecked after what they did to the tower and the Traveler. The creatures took everything from them, this was like free therapy. Erebus was quick to jump off her pike and run towards the mess of fighting. Her hands became engulfed with ice but the Titan was quicker. Suddenly a flaming hammer flew past the woman’s head, her eyes widened as she jumped to the side, barely dodging the projectile, startled from the attack that came behind her. The hammer flew into the group of Scorn and Cabal, causing flames and a small explosion. The creatures flew through the air, dying almost instantly. The woman’s brown eyes were filled with confusion. She had never seen the light used this way. Another hammer flew towards the scattering enemies, quickly taking them out and ending their life's in a second. Were all Guardian’s this strong? DID HE JUST SUMMON A HAMMER?! The Titan’s body was covered in flames as he stood beside the shocked snake lady “What, you never see a Titan fight before?” The man teased. The woman shook her head. “Not like that…” Erebus was fairly sheltered in a way. Drifter was the only lightbearer she knew. He was there the day she was re-born and any other Guardian she crossed paths with were normally so corrupt by the Darkness that they couldn’t use anything other than Stasis. It was strange to see a Titan using his powers so fully, un-tempted by the dark. Ryan felt proud for a moment, normally he was the one impressed by the girl. He still didn’t know what powers she had, the man had no understanding of the Dark and it’s ice. One day he would. But it was too soon for that. The two quickly made their way into the tunnel behind the dead Cabal.
“Zavala, what’s happened to you?!” Ikora cried out, blood dripping from her stomach. The Titan glared down at the woman as she struggled to get to her feet. The Vanguard had lost his mind, there was no light in his eyes, only darkness and grief. The Warlock had simply wanted to check up on her friend but before she could even get a word in, a bullet shot directly through her form. Ikora didn’t dare summon her ghost, fearful of what her former friend would do. “I Woke Up.” The man snarled out taking loud thundering steps towards the woman. The warlock quickly began to back up, not wanting to hurt her fire team member. “Woke up? You’re making no sense! Look at you, Cayde wouldn’t want this!” With quick movements, Zavala aimed his sidearm at Ikora once more and pulled the trigger. The Warlock struggled a dodge, causing her form to leap to the side, crashing into the man’s bookshelf. “He would realize that this was the way.” Ikora’s teeth grit as she attempted to run for the office door. She had to get Shaxx. Another bullet fired.
“RYAN!” Yogi’s voice broke through the Titan’s head as the man used a stolen pike to jump over boiling water. The ghost was trying desperately to get his Guardian to focus, calling out enemy locations left and right. The moment the two entered the den Scorn were on them instantly. Ryan and Erebus had been lucky enough to steal pikes and shoot down wave after wave of them but they were struggling to keep up with the Rider. Her laughter taunted the Titan as the man went as fast as he could after her. “YOU’RE SLOW!” The creature sung out, taking turns faster than Ryan could register them. As the Rider prepared to take another corner and lose the man, Erebus’s pike flew out from no where, the woman had angled it perfectly from above. The Rider looked up a second too late, the creature realized that she couldn’t escape as the flying pike rammed straight into her bike and form. Erebus had jumped off seconds before the collision, her body tumbling onto the harsh rocks. The Rider’s pike exploded, flames roaring from the scrapes of the bike. Ryan pulled his pike to a stop, he scrambled from the bike, attempted to reach the woman’s form but before he could even take a step the Rider emerged from the flames, roaring with anger. Her shot gun blasted straight for the Titan, Ryan’s feet came to a halt as his brain went into panic mode. Shit. He had no escape from the bullets. Suddenly an ice wall shot straight up in front of the Titan, taking the bullets like they were no issue. Erebus struggled to her feet, her body covered in ice. Her mask had split in the middle, struggling to stay on her face. “It’s On Bitch.” The woman hissed, charging at the Scorn. Ryan smirked as the ice wall vanished, running to the woman’s side as he’s form became covered in flames. A red hot hammer appeared in the man’s hands as he began throwing them at the Rider while Erebus threw a fist full of ice, it traveled along the ground, colliding with the Rider’s form, freezing the Scorn so that the hammer could hit her square on. The creature cried out in pain as the two pummeled her, Ryan’s fists sank deep into the creature’s skin while Erebus’s ice sliced part of the Scorn’s arm off. The fight ended almost as soon as it started. The shot gun blasts couldn’t land a solid hit on the two, The woman was too quick and Ryan’s flaming body simply melted the bullets. They were an insane team. The creature let out one last pitiful laugh before she collapsed onto the ground, her body shaking as blue blood dripped from her form. A smirk crossed onto the Rider’s lips as she gasped. “You-you’ll die just like The Cayde-6!” Suddenly the Scorn pulled a small green button from her clothing pocket, her thumb slammed the button as her eyes rolled back into her head. Loud beeping echoed from every corner of the den, Erebus’s eyes filled with fear as she grabbed onto the Titan’s arm. “RUN!” She cried out. Ryan reacted instantly. “Sparrow, NOW!” Yogi was quick to comply, Ryan grabbed onto the woman, holding her by the waist and pulling her onto the bike as Ryan drove as fast as he could towards the den’s exit. The beeping began to quicken as he took the turns better than before. “Hurry!” The woman cried, her eyes scanning the area. She was so busy chasing the Rider down she hadn’t noticed the entire area was covered in old land mines, bombs, every kind of explosive. As the two reached the last turn before the exit, the bombs let out one last beep before exploding. They were so damn close to escaping. A loud bang emerged from deep within the cave before a cloud of fire, metal and dust began charging the two. The power of the bombs rocked the two off the sparrow and they flew through the air. Their bodies flew out of the den’s exit, crashing and tumbling as flames burst forth. Metal and god knows what else shot out of the Den’s entrance hitting both Erebus and the Titan, hard. Their forms became cut and bruised, they struggled to find cover as the ground shook. The woman crawled on her hands and knees behind a weak pillar of stone while the Titan scrambled for a dead cabal. He propped the creature up and hid in front of it like he was using a shield. After minutes of endless pain, the flames calmed and the last bit of metal flew out from the cave. It was over.
The Rider was a taste of what was to come. The two may have been battered and bruised but it was only the beginning. Ryan smiled through bleeding lips, The woman knew how to fight, she was like a hunter and a warlock mixed into one. Watching her defeat crowds of Scorn in a matter of seconds was nothing short of exhilarating. Erebus smiled back at Ryan, blood trickling down from her nose and onto her lips. The Titan was a wonderful ally, he was strong, fast, he took more hits than she thought he could. A part of her thought they would make a wonderful team. Another part of the woman realized that he was still a goody two shoes and she would have to pay him to keep his mouth shut. Snitch. Erebus’s broken mask dangled from her ears before she got annoyed and ripped it off completely. Ryan’s left leg was completely shattered and his stomach was bleeding rapidly. The woman watched with worry in her brown eyes. She couldn’t hide it, she had grown attached to the Titan. Before she could even step in to help, Yogi appeared instantly, scanning and gently healing each of his partner’s wounds. “Do you have to be this reckless?!” The ghost growled out. The Titan laughed as his leg healed in a matter of seconds. Ryan got to his feet like he hadn’t been completely destroyed by an explosion. Erebus gripped onto her broken arm and struggled to her feet, limping as she walked. They needed to get to the Derelict. Ryan decided to bite, asking a question he didn’t think he had to ask. “Do you have a ghost?” Erebus laughed weakly, her hand clutching her broken arm. “I do.” She said simply, not giving the Titan the information he wanted. “Then heal.” Ryan’s form stood in front of the girl, refusing to let her continue until she recovered. The brunette turned her gaze away from the man and looked like she was deep in thought. After minutes of silence and Ryan refusing to budge the woman let out a sigh of defeat. It was clear they were going to be working together for awhile so might as well bite the bullet now. “I can’t. My ghost can’t...do things yours can. Look, Boss man can patch me up, I’ll be ready for the next Scorn in no time, now please. This really fucking hurts.” Annoyance filled the air as the woman shoved past the Titan. She appreciated the act of kindness but it was not wanted. Ryan’s eyes filled with confusion as he took in Erebus’s words. “What do you mean it can’t? Is it damaged? All ghost’s can, what do you mean it can’t!?” His voice grew louder as he pressed the issue. “Now isn’t the time, My arm is broken, I’m bleeding, can I please get to my ship before I die and Boss man sobs over my corpse?! He’s a real ugly crier.” Ryan’s jaw tightened as the man kept his words inwards. He wanted nothing more than to keep pressing, he knew he could get his answers this way. “Then will you tell me why after?” The Titan grabbed Erebus by the shoulder, causing the woman to flinch in pain. “FINE! NOW PLEASE!” She shouted, before ripping from the Titan’s grip.
As the two transported onto the Derelict Erebus fell to her knees. Damn this fucking hurt. Tears were beginning to form in her eyes but she was quick to shake them away. Drifter’s large form quickly came into view as he stared at the two. “Moira!” The man cried out, he rushed to her side, helping the woman get to her feet. “Shit. I’ll fix ya up kid.” Ryan’s eyes widened. Moira? Was that the girl’s real name? Before the Titan could even offer to help Drifter began to pull her form towards one of those strange machines he had at the tower. He called it a bank didn’t he? The woman was placed into a flimsy looking chair and the man pulled out a small white mote. The Titan’s eyes filled with even more confusion as the snake lady took it into her hands and began to...absorb it? With a flash of darkness, all lights on the Derelict went out. “The hell!?” Ryan cried out, running over to where Drifter and Erebus once were. Suddenly the lights returned and the woman was standing by Drifter’s side, her wounds completely healed and her mask repaired. Erebus smiled gently at Drifter, joy and much more in her eyes. But Drifter didn’t return the look, his eyes were fixed on the Titan who was staring at them like they were monsters. “How…” The older man stepped away from Erebus as the girl quickly straightened her jacket and fixed her hair. She seemed completely unbothered by the Titan seeing what had just happened. She had trust for him, unlike the Drifter. “Ya say something kid?” The rouge lightbearer asked with a hiss in his tone. “What. Was. That?” The Titan demanded, not giving in to Drifter’s fear tactic’s. The man smirked and laughed. “Something you ain’t ready to deal with.” Ryan snarled, Yogi appearing by his side. “She’s not a Guardian...She’s made of-” Suddenly Yogi got caught off as Ikora’s voice rang through the ghost’s body “RYAN! WE NEED YOU, NOW! GET TO THE TOWER!” There was screeching, crying, the sounds of flames. Suddenly the feed was cut and the group were staring at each other with confusion. “We need to go, Now.” Yogi stated, turning to look at the Drifter. “Let’s go.” The Derelict began to make it’s way back to the tower. No one could have prepared them for what came next.

A Titan’s Gamble Chapter 3
The Drifter made Ryan an offer. It was simple, the Titan helped the man with this project he called Gambit, banked motes of darkness and helped with the occasionally deal. In return Drifter would help him locate Uldren and the others that murdered Cayde. At first Ryan was hesitant. Drifter had put a rule forward that the Vanguard couldn’t know a thing, that they were to be in the dark the entire time. Ryan could lie, say that he was looking for the snake woman, struggling to find her trail but anything more and Drifter promised he would make the Titan’s life a living hell. Ryan had never done anything without telling the Vanguard first. After the two agreed on terms, Ryan went to his small apartment inside the tower and collapsed onto his bed, his armor still on and everything. Yogi appeared with a chirp and sighed at the sight of his Guardian. “Are you going to take the armor of or…” Ryan grunted as he listened to the sass coming from his ghost. “In a minute, I’m tired man. Have some pity.” The ghost gently flew around Ryan’s head and huffed. “Do you really think that man is going to help us?” The Titan thought for a moment. He had acted on instinct, trusting that Drifter would play his part. “Time will tell I guess.” With a soft grunt, Ryan pushed himself off the bed and began to remove his armor. The man’s body was covered in scars, you could see each battle unfold on his skin. The biggest scar he had was in the middle of his stomach. It looked as if someone tried to cut him open and eat what was inside which wasn’t far from the truth. Hive were nasty little buggers, if it hadn’t been for Cayde-6 he would be dead. The man’s skin was pale and rough after many years of violence. After the armor hit the floor with a thud, Ryan reached for his glasses, placing them upon his face before making his way to the bathroom. He was quick to get cleaned up and ready for bed. The Titan wanted sleep more than anything at the moment. “I’ll find them buddy...I won’t let them get away.” As Ryan walked back into his bedroom, the man crawled into the bed and passed out almost instantly.
Ryan woke up with a jolt. His entire body was coated with sweat, his nails had clawed into his skin leaving rather nasty marks. It reminded the Titan of when he was re-born. Sadly nightmares had been flooding his dreams ever since Cayde’s death. It had been two days and still he couldn’t escape those images. His friend’s corpse on the ground, clutching the shell of his former ghost, the woman with the snake mask laughing at him. The palms of Ryan’s hands rubbed at his brown eyes as the man let out a soft sigh. “What’d I miss Yogi?” Without even missing a beat, the Titan prepared for duty. Today was the day he would head to the Tangled Shore with Drifter and help him out with a deal. Hopefully he could get some Vanguard patrols in so no one would notice him gone. It was Drifter’s idea and honestly it was kinda smart, not that Ryan wanted to admit it. “You have a message.” The ghost said softly. The creature of light was almost nervous as he spoke. “It’s from Zavala.” “Shit.”
“What do you mean you can’t find her?” Zavala asked, anger and confusion filling the large office. The awoken had no idea why Ryan was being this idiotic, normally the Titan could track anyone down in a matter of hours. “No one’s ever heard of her, it’s like she doesn’t exist. I got a lead for a place called the Tangled Shore but-” “THEN WHY ARE YOU HERE?!” The Titan Vanguard’s voice boomed, his eyes were like cold steel and his body towered over Ryan’s. The Titan had never felt this kind of fear towards Zavala before, Ryan always looked at him like a hero, maybe even a father figure but now? All he could think was he needed to get away. This was terrifying, he had never seen the Vanguard Titan like this, was this all because of grief? Ryan was quick to leave the office, heading towards the hanger. “I didn’t think Zavala could get that mad…” Yogi said shaking slightly. Poor little ghost. The thing couldn’t handle this kind of stess. Ryan gave Yogi a weak smile and gently cupped the ghost’s shell in his hands. “Hey, listen. I’d never let him hurt you.” The Titan spoke in a gentle tone, attempting to make his partner feel safe. “I know, it’s just-I don’t like the thought that Zavala WOULD hurt me. Or You!” Ryan looked down at his feet as he nodded. Zavala had turned into a monster. The ghost made a soft chirp and summoned Ryan’s ship as the two made their way into the hanger. Ryan was slightly nervous, he had never even heard of the Tangled Shore. A part of him wondered what he would find while the other part of him was ready for shit to hit the fan. The man, Drifter, said he was bringing the woman with him today. Ryan had to be ready for anything.
The flight over had been smooth, for the most part. Both him and Yogi talked, trying to comfort each other, making excuses for Zavala. He was just stressed! He was just tired! He was just overworked! The two fake laughed as they realized that none of it was true, the man had truly just slipped into a void of grief. Hopefully there would be a way to pull him out of it. Was there a way to end that kind of spiral? As they reached the Tangled Shore, Ryan gripped Cayde's gun. Banshee had patched it up as best as he could for the time being, it worked but not like it did before. The exo stated that Ryan needed to calibrate it by killing some shit with the Ace Of Spades which the Titan was more than willing to do. As the man left his ship, landing on a rough patch of ground his spine shivered. The view was gorgeous but completely ruined by the fighting that was taking place. It was like every creature was battling for supremacy. Fallen, Hive, CABAL!? This place was a festering eye sore with no real law. No wonder he had never heard of it before. As he took two steps from the spot Drifter had told him to land, a voice rang through the air. “There you are hero!” Ryan turned, facing the direction of the sound. There stood Drifter, only a few feet away with the woman who was dressed like a snake on his arm. The old man almost treated her like she was a trophy he earned. Her long brown hair was flowing in the shore’s breeze and her face was still hidden under her mask. She gave the Titan a small wave, he could tell she was smiling under the mask. “What took you so long?” Drifter laughed out as Ryan jogged over to them. “It was nothing, just some Vanguard business.” The woman giggled as she watched Drifter roll his eyes. “Yer such a goody two shoes, maybe we can change that huh?” The Drifter teased. As the two talked, the woman moved herself from Drifter’s side and walked towards the Titan. She stood a few inches away from him and held out her hand. “Hey, Ryan right? Call me Erebus.” Ryan almost snarled at the girl as he watched her try and shake his hand. Ryan could only feel disgust as he gazed upon her form. The Titan pushed his anger down and grabbed her fingers, shaking her hand harshly before pulling away. Erebus seemed unbothered and simply made her way back to Drifter’s side. “That your code name?” The Titan asked, attempting to hide his rage. The woman simply nodded giving the man hardly anything to work with. “Can’t have you knowing my real name now can I?” She joked, placing her hand upon her hip. Drifter could already tell this was gonna either end beautifully or with a bullet between Ryan’s eyes. “Alright kids, shall we?” The man gestured towards the long road. “Where are we going?” The Titan asked, getting ready to summon his sparrow. “We’re gonna see the Spider.”
The walk was long. Ryan had attempted to summon his sparrow but the other two refused to do the same, enjoying the trip. Drifter claimed it was like the quiet before a storm, take it all in before it was ruined. The woman nodded in agreement, hooking her elbow on Drifter’s arm as she removed her mask for the time being. Her skin was pale and her eyes were a soft earthy brown. She had light pink lips and freckles covering her nose. Erebus took a deep breath in, enjoying the fresh air before they arrived at Spider’s doorstep. She carefully put her mask back on while Drifter gripped his hand cannon. “Alright, you ready kid?” Ryan’s eyes were filled with confusion, the Titan thought that they were only there to make a simple glimmer deal, that this would get Spider talking about where that Uldren guy went. Where they gonna shoot up the place? What was happening? “Are we murdering someone, what’s with the gun?” The Titan demanded, his shoulders tensing up. Drifter smiled and shook his head. “Nah hero you got it all wrong. This is plan B. Always be ready, am I right brother?” The woman smirked watching the Titan get concerned, it was kinda cute, like a puppy who didn’t wanna do anything wrong and upset it’s masters. The guy was really under the Vanguard’s thumb huh? “Scared to break a few rules?” Erebus teased, tucking her bangs behind her ears. Ryan’s face heated up as he quickly whipped out the Ace Of Spades. “I break rules every day.” The man stated, attempting to seem cool causing both Drifter and the woman to laugh. “Well then, this will be easy for ya.” Ryan instantly realized he had made a grand mistake as they entered the Spider’s den.

Drifter’s Wild Card Chapter 2
The woman ate everything Drifter put in front of her. The brown eyes that held soft warmth now held a darkness, like she could consume everything in the room if the man let her. It was like watching a starving animal. The old man had been in this position before, He remembered the pain that came with his stomach eating itself. The rouge lightbearer had helped the new re-born onto Derelict, the brunette was tattered and bruised, weak and hungry. Drifter was quick to get her patched up and fed while he waited for Eris to come examine her. Moondust had been completely speechless when Drifter explained what he had found. She called him a liar and demanded the truth. When the man insisted that was the truth, she turned her ship around and made her way straight for The Derelict. “Slow down kid, you’ll kill yerself at this rate.” Drifter chuckled before carefully removing the plate from in front of the woman, trying not lose a finger. Wiping her mouth with her torn sleeve, the nameless woman gazed up into the strangers eyes. Each time they made eye contact it felt like they were dancing. Drifter had never felt like this before, it was so new, so...nice. “Thank you.” With the kindest smile Drifter had ever seen, the man felt his legs turn to jelly. Taking a deep breath in and quickly attempting to put his mental walls back up, Drifter smiled and nodded. “Your welcome, save some for me eh?” The woman laughed, turning her eyes away from the man and began taking in the view of the ship. The ice glistened in the rooms dull lights creating a calming wave of energy. The woman knew nothing, she had no name, and her ghost couldn’t talk, like the old mans. It raised a lot of questions, truth be told, Drifter thought he was the only one in the world-hell the universe with that kind of ghost, one that snapped, one that was ready to kill. “I take it I’m different.” The woman asked in a soft voice as she began to get up from the table. The man was startled by her sudden question, placing the plate into his small kitchen sink. Shit. How was he meant to answer that? Did he go the brutally honest route? Tell her that she’s going to be hunted, to be tormented if anyone found out she was born from Darkness? Or did he charm his way out of it, saying that she was special like him? Before either one of them could continue the conversation, the dining room doors opened on the Derelict, revealing a terrified looking Eris Morn.
“Amazing…” Eris’s cold fingers trailed over the woman’s face, causing the young one to flinch. The woman didn’t like this kind of contact, it wasn’t like Drifters. It wasn’t there to help or calm her down, it was to poke and examine. She felt like test subject. “You’re ice cold. Yet you cannot feel it?” The brunette shook her head, watching as Morn circled around her, examining everything about her. “No I just-I just feel okay? Do you feel cold? Should I feel cold?” Panic began to set in as the woman thought about what this meant. She really was different wasn’t she? How long before she was in a zoo for people to stare at and play with? Eris Morn took a step back and let out a small hum. “Um, if it’s not too much to ask, Drifter left some clothes out for me, could I go change?” The woman’s manners were strange, she didn’t need to ask permission to get comfortable and yet she did, treating Eris like a figure of authority. The old man laughed and gently placed a hand on the girl’s shoulders. He knew that she was mentally freaking out, and to be fair he would be too. There was so much happening in such a short amount of time. “Go for it kid.” Drifter’s touch instantly calmed the woman down. The brunette gave the man a smile before she turned, heading down the hallway Drifter had showed her earlier. The moment she was out of ear shot Eris spoke. “We must tell the Vanguard. Zavala and Ikora need to hear about this. If there are more like her out there, this could be the Darkness making an army-” Drifter was quick to cut Moondust off. No way in HELL was he letting that big blue idiot near the woman. Just by looking at her you could tell she meant no harm, for fuck sake she didn’t even have a name! But Zavala would take her as a threat the moment he would lay eyes on her. “Moondust, you really think you can just stroll in there, show them this kid and they won’t kill her on the spot? This isn’t a Vanguard issue. This is a US issue.” Eris’s lips fell into a frown as she listened to the Drifter’s words. There was some truth to the statement. There was no telling what would happen if they brought the woman to the Vanguard. But if they hid her? The outcome could be much worse. It was worth the sacrifice in Eris’s mind. “It is just one soul. If she has to die, then so be it. This could save lives Eli. This could save us from the future.” The Drifter flinched hearing Eli come out of Moondust’s mouth. A logical part of him knew that someone else needed to hear about this, The Vanguard may be filled with idiot’s but they did help upon occasion. However deep inside the old man’s soul he knew he couldn’t let that happen. Dammit why was he so attached to this kid? Something about her, she felt like a part of him even if they had only met hours ago. “Then tell em this. You found a signal from the Darkness, you went to find out what it was, ya got there too late and missed the whole show, now the signal’s alive and there could be more like it. Simple. Hell don’t even mention the kid, the weird signal should keep em sniffing around for days.” Eris’s eyes sharpened upon the Drifter’s form, she could smell his desperation. “I am taking her with me. You do not get a say.” The man’s gaze turned into a glare as the two stared each other down. “Don’t do this moondust.” “I have to.” With a swift sudden movement, Drifter’s hand cannon Trust was placed upon Eris’s forehead. The man was fast, faster than she thought. Why was he acting like this? What was with this caring, this compassion? He had never had it before, did he see this woman as a gift from the Darkness instead of a threat? She could kjll them all without a moment’s notice! The former lightbearer slowly began to reach for her pocket, her fingers searching for her knife before Drifter’s foot landed directly upon her stomach, kicking her harshly into the ships wall. With a pained grunt Eris wrapped her arms around her stomach and glared up at the man. The gun continued to be aimed straight at her head. “I Think Its Time To Go.” Eris’s teeth grit as she slowly began to inch her way towards the dining room door. “You cannot hide her forever Eli. Do not think this is over.” “We’ll see about that.” The man snarled back, watching Morn leave the dinning room. He kept his gun pointed at the door for a few moments before he heard Eris’s ship leave. With a loud sigh, the man put his gun back into his belt and rubbed his hand on his forehead. Fuck, what had he done? Drifter began to turn, facing the hallway the girl went down. He had to put on a play, make sure she didn’t know what had just gone down. However he was too late for that. As he faced the hallway, his eyes instantly locked with the girls. She had seen the whole thing, DAMMIT! The man quickly shoved his hands into his pockets as he stiffened his back. Now she probably thought he was a monster huh? Suddenly, with no warning, the woman flew into the Drifter’s form, hugging him as tightly as she could. A tear trickled down from her brown eyes as she spoke. “Thank you…” The man’s arms were struggling, he had no idea what to do with this form of affection, he didn’t even know how to return it. Speechless, the man simply just took it, trying to hide his smile. She had just watched him attack another person and she was hugging him? Was she insane? A small chuckle left Drifter’s lips as he thought about it. Yeah, she was nuts, but so was he. This trusting feeling was nice. Too bad it wouldn’t last. After a few moment’s the girl pulled away from him, wiping the tears from her eyes. She was wearing Gambit clothing, snakes trailed over her form as the clothes hugged her hips and curves. Her long hair covered the back of the black leather robe while she stood easily in green heeled hunter boots. The old man smiled “No worries Moira.” The woman’s eyes widened as she heard the name leave Drifter’s lips. “Moira?” The man shrugged as he gave the girl a wink. “I think it suits you.” Moira was a strange name, one of the few that Drifter knew the meaning of. Funny enough, the name meant Destiny. The man had quickly realized why he had become so attached to her. She was going to change everything but first...she was going to change him, for the better.

A Titan’s Gamble Chapter 2
Zavala’s fists shook as he stared down at the body that was once his former partner. His former friend. The two rarely met eye to eye but Cayde-6 meant the world to him. This couldn’t be real. Ikora had her hands placed over her eyes, trying her hardest not to break out in tears. Cayde-6 couldn’t be gone, this couldn’t be the reality, this had to be a cruel joke played on them. Ryan stood at the back of the room, he hadn’t spoken since he arrived at the tower carrying Cayde-6’s body in his arms. It took all of Zavala’s strength to rip the Hunter Vanguard from Ryan’s grip. After what seemed like minutes of silence, Zavala finally spoke. “What. Happened.” This wasn’t a question. It was a demand. The Titan Vanguard needed to know exactly what went down and where he had to put the blame. “...He ran ahead. Something shook him, he remembered something, I don’t even know. He just ran faster than I could and before I could reach him, he-he was already gone.” Ryan’s voice cracked as he spoke, remembering was too painful for the time being. Ikora slowly moved her hands to her sides, her eyes were bright red as tears trickled down her face faster than she could hold them in. “Who did it?” She asked softly. The Warlock needed to know more than anything in the world. Ryan shook his head as his shoulders slumped. “I don’t know. There was this woman dressed like a snake, she ran off with his gun but-” “Find HER.” Zavala’s voice boomed through the room, shaking both Ikora and the Titan. The two stared at the Vanguard quickly seeing that the man was overwhelmed with anger and grief, just like Ryan had been when he first witnessed Cayde’s body. There was no more reasoning with this man.
As Ryan walked the hallways of the tower, lightless civilians whispered and gossiped. “I heard he was carrying someone when he came in.” “I heard that he killed Cayde-6!” “I heard he failed his mission.” It was too much for the man. Every little noise, every little bit of light, it was all pissing him off. Yogi was careful as he chose his next words, his Titan needed sleep more than anything. “Ryan. How about we go back to the apartment? Cool off?” The ghost suggested softly. There was no response. The man was on auto pilot, wandering aimlessly through the tower, twitching at every sound and sense he came upon. With a soft sigh the ghost simply followed. Yogi knew there was no getting through to him for the time being, he just needed to walk. The Titan had a unique way of dealing with stress, his feet would carry him wherever they could and his mind would run over every little detail. Sometimes you could hear the man talking to himself as he walked. Yogi thought it was sweet in a way. All of this was new for Ryan, the Titan had never failed, he had never let a life get lost on his watch, he was the HERO for Traveler’s sake. Was this all his fault? There were so many new emotions to register. As the man wandered for a good hour, two hands appeared from the shadows grabbing the Titan by the shoulders and stopping him in his tracks. Ryan’s eyes widened as he snapped out of his self pity and saw a stone wall inches away from his face. “Whoa there kid, watch where yer going!” A rough timeless voice broke into Ryan’s mind as the man turned to face whoever saved him from smashing right into a wall. With a smirk and kind eyes, a man stood tall, removing his hands from Ryan’s shoulders. “Ah so your the city’s chosen one, nice to meet ya hero.” The stranger had dark brown hair, a rough beard and an emerald snake necklace dangling down from his neck. He wore a large robe with huge brown shoulder pads and had a hand cannon safely tucked into his belt. As Ryan took the man’s form in his eyes quickly snapped to the necklace. It was so familiar. Suddenly Ryan connected the dots, that was the same snake pattern shaved into the side of that woman’s head! Without even thinking, Ryan grabbed the stranger by the collar of his shirt and pulled the man close. “Where is she?!” The strangers hands instantly went into the air attempting to prove he was no threat. “Whoa, easy, easy!” The Titan’s teeth gritted against each other as the man glared at the random lightbearer. “She had that snake all over her, YOU’RE WORKING WITH HER!” People began to stop and stare, whispering and yelling. “What’s going on?!” “Is Ryan going insane?!” The stranger carefully placed his hands on top of Ryan’s and met his gaze. “This ain’t the place to talk about this kid.” The man’s voice was taunting, pissing Ryan off even further. The Titan turned, there were so many people staring. The stranger was right. Ryan released his grip on the man and took a few steps back. “Then where is the right place to talk?”
“Well if that wasn’t a good first impression I don’t know what is.” The man joked with the Titan as the two sat in a small room next to a strange machine. It was deep inside the tower, far from prying eyes. Ryan scoffed at the man, unhappy with his humor. There was no time for jokes, his friend was fucking dead and the killer had run off doing whatever murderer’s do. “Who are you, who was that woman, where is she?!” As the man spoke, his voice grew louder with rage. Patience was not Ryan’s strong suit. The Titan had a temper which he could normally hold onto but he had very little will power at the moment. “Hey take it easy. The name’s Drifter.” With a smile, the Drifter extended his hand and held it out to the Titan. The Titan took it carefully and the two shook for a moment. “That girl? She’s my second in command but she ain’t the one you’re after.” The rouge stated plainly. He removed his hand from the Titan’s grip and smirked. “You’re looking for a man named Uldren.” Ryan’s eyes tensed with disbelief. “No, I’m not. She was the only one in that room with Cayde’s-” The Titan’s voice halted as his mind flashed back to the event. Shaking his head, Ryan continued to talk, removing the pictures from his mind. “-His..body. She took his gun and ran.” The Drifter laughed and pulled the broken Ace of Spades from his pocket. “Ya mean this gun?” Ryan’s eyes widened as he gazed upon his dead friends weapon. “How did you…” “Like I said kid, she ain’t the one yer after. Might wanna thank her, if she hadn’t scared the group of them off they woulda taken this thing.” With a flick of his wrists, Drifter tossed the broken gun towards Ryan, the Titan caught it, clutching the gun to his chest. He had so many questions. “Not gonna lie to you, this was part of a plan. I needed ya to come talk to me, we figured this would be the easiest way to do it. I get something you want, you come meet me, magic happens.” A jade coin appeared in the Drifter’s hand as he began to play with it, running it over his fingers, flicking it in the air. “I mean, we were gonna originally kidnap Uldren but hey, things get messy sometimes.” Ryan tore his gaze away from the gun and watched the man flick the green coin. Uldren had no importance to him, he didn’t even know who that man was. Did Drifter and the girl know about the prison and the mission? Did they know Cayde would freak out? “Why Uldren?”  Ryan asked, confusion covering on his face. The Drifter smirked once more as he gave Ryan a side glance. “You never heard of The Prince of the Reef? Figured you Vanguard would be all about him, ya know, with him mass murdering millions and what not.” The older man flicked the jade coin once more into the air before he pocketed it. It was interesting that Ryan knew nothing about the reef, more than likely the Titan knew nothing of Mara Sov. That meant Old Drifter had to change some plans up. The energy in the room changed from tense to calming, causing Ryan to stand up and relax his shoulders. “So where’s the girl.” Drifter laughed and rested on the railing inside the room. “Why? You gonna kill her hero?” The Titan grit his teeth once more, the thought was tempting. She had locked him in a room with his friend’s corpse for hours just so she could get away, but if this man was telling the truth then she did save his gun, even if it was part of plan to meet this shady guy. “No. I wanna thank her.” Slowly Ryan met Drifter’s gaze and let out a huff. “You two are gonna tell me where Uldren is.” The smirk on the rouge’s face never faded. “Then you’ll owe me a favor. Ever heard of Gambit?”
As the Titan left the room, Drifter’s heart pounded in his chest. It wasn’t out of fear however, the Titan didn’t scare him one bit. What did scare him was the man’s obsession with finding his second in command. Even after Drifter stated that Uldren was the one to kill his pal, Ryan still wanted her location. The older man’s eyes sharpened as he thought. Drifter was always one to fight alone, using others to get what he needed. The girl however, she was different. She had put her life on the line for Drifter so many times, she broke through all his walls with no warning and gave him her loyalty without him even having to ask. She abandoned everything she had ever known for him. The Drifter’s hands clenched into fists as the thought of the Titan hurting her entered his mind. If Ryan even attempted anything plans were going to change, and change fast.

Drifter’s Wild Card
"When we aren't looking for it, we always find what we need."
Grumbling as he walked, Drifter checked the signals coordinates one last time. The old man had been sent out by Eris, normally they both would have called upon a random Guardian but all of them seemed to be busy with hero work. Word spread of a Titan who saved the world and now everyone wanted a god damn statue. Drifter scoffed as he thought about those goody two shoes running around, helping people. However this was probably the safest bet for them both, Guardian’s weren’t ready to witness the Darkness. Not yet anyway. The Darkness's signal wasn’t like any other, it was almost...alive. Struggling to survive or something. The Darkness’s signals always stood loud and proud as the saying goes. “You know I pay people to do my dirty work right moondust?” The rouge light bearer sneered out as he trudged through the mud on the EDZ. “I do.” Eris spoke in a calm tone, almost as if she enjoyed watching the man struggle. After what seemed like hours (but was only minutes according to three eyes) Drifter found himself on a vantage point, staring right down at the signals location. The light from the sun was overbearing, causing Drifter to struggle with his sight. After the man cupped his hands above his eyes, he almost tumbled down his small cliff. No...that can’t be right can it? “Eris, you seeing this?” Drifter’s voice was hushed, almost like he didn’t want to disturb what was happening in front of him. “Something is cutting off the signal, I can-t s- Dr-” and just like that, the signal to Eris was gone. The old man’s jaw had slightly dropped. Directly in front of him was a slab of darkness, glowing, shaking...transforming? It’s sharp triangle form began to soften and change, almost like it was ready to release something. “The hell?” Carefully Drifter began to make his way down the cliff. He didn’t want to disturb it nor did he want to get caught up in it. This could all be a trick for what he knew but something was pulling him towards it. Suddenly a small chirp of a ghost rang through the air. The rouge light bearer quickly caught sight of a ghost as it began to circle around the shifting darkness but something was off. It’s eye color. It was red! No...No that can’t be right, his eyes were playing tricks on him! As Drifter refused to believe the display in front of him, the ghost made one final last chirp. Without warning the darkness’s form stopped shaking, halted every moment and then? Released what it had been holding in. A blast of dark covered the entire area, light had completely vanished from the zone leaving Drifter and the other creatures of the EDZ lost and confused. “Ah Dammit!” The blast from the triangle had caused the man to lose his balance and Drifter fell straight onto his ass. As the old man reopened his eyes and struggled to get to his feet, he saw the scene that laid out perfectly before him. The blast from the slab of Darkness had caused the entire zone to turn pitch black, power was out and there was faint screaming from the fallen covering the area. The triangle though...it was gone. “Holy shit.” Laying under what once was the Darkness was now a young woman. Her hair was a dark chocolate brown and it fell far past her shoulders, her skin was extremely pale and her body was covered by torn out dated clothing. Carefully the ghost that had been chirping examined the woman's body. With a satisfied robotic noise it turned it’s attention to the old man. It knew the Drifter had been there for some time, almost like the Darkness had been waiting for him. Drifter hadn’t moved. His eyes were at a lose as he tried to make sense of this whole scene. Did the Darkness make a guardian? After minutes of standing and struggling to figure out what had just happened, the man carefully made his way towards the woman laying on the harsh pavement on the road. Drifter slowly got on his knees and sat down beside the girl. His hands gently touched her skin, he treated her like she was made of glass. She was cold, but she had a bit of heat to her. The rouge checked her pulse but it was extremely weak. Normally when Guardians are born they wake up with a jolt covered in sweat, their heart pounding in their chest but this lady? She was barely alive. “The hell do I do with you…” Drifter thought for a moment as he stared down at the girl. If he left her, god knows what would happen when Zavala and Ikora heard about her. The hunters and warlocks would make game out of her, she’d be hunted down by titans for sure. There was only one logical thing to do. As Drifter started scooping the woman into his arms, her eyes slowly began to open. The rouge’s chest tightened he ceased movement. “W-Wha? Where-where am I?” The woman’s voice was soft, cold, confused. Her earth brown eyes met the man’s and his heart felt like it had been jump started. Her gentle hands carefully clenched onto the man’s robe as they stared at each other. It was like staring into a warm new world full of hope. Quickly shaking the feelings out of his body and calming his heart Drifter spoke. “Well hey there Mavrick. Welcome to the world.”

A Titan’s Gamble
“The line between light and dark is so very thin”
The tower was a beautiful place. It stood tall as a symbol of humanity’s hope for a better world. Many lightless civilians called it home. Here, Guardians used their powers to protect the people of earth and keep the world- no, the universe safe. The Traveler’s light shimmered off of it’s walls and flowers blossomed in every corner. It was a beautiful sight to see when The Dawning arrived. People would laugh, sing, dance. It had everything a person could ever dream of, life was everywhere. But life is never without loss. The day the Red Legion attacked was the day everyone lost something. The people of the city screamed as loved ones were murdered ruthlessly by Cabal warriors, Guardian’s bodies littered the streets as the Traveler’s light was taken by the monsters. The Vanguard scattered to corners of the universe abandoning the people they were meant to protect. The Traveler had failed to save them. One Guardian defeated all odds however. A Titan, ever loyal to the Vanguard and the people. Duty was all the man knew and he would die fighting to protect those in need. Nothing could stop the man as he destroyed Dominus Ghaul. With the defeat of Red Legion, the remaining Guardian’s light returned to them and the Vanguard built a new home. One they swore they would never lose. New Guardian’s began to appear, all listening to the story of the man who saved the world and the Traveler. As the years passed, more and more Guardian’s came to admire the statue built in the Titan’s honor in the middle of the Last City. Staring at it gave them the hope and courage to become something bigger, better. The hero of the Traveler was called Ryan. He had short dark brown hair shaved at the sides, his form was smaller than most Titan’s and his eyes were hidden by glasses. If he didn’t have his Vanguard gear on he would look like any other civilian which worked in his favor if he ever wanted a day away from hero worship. This isn’t a story about a hero however. This is a story about a fall.
The Titan was spread thin. Every day there was a new mission, a new patrol, someone in need of saving. The man laid face first on his soft bed, his face shoved directly into his pillow as his shirtless form remained uncovered by blankets. Ryan almost wished the bed would drown him in comfort so he would never have to wake up again. “If you lay like that you could suffocate.” With a chirp, the Titan’s ghost appeared, staring at his guardian with confusion. The two were quite a pair. The man’s ghost was called Yogi, a name that came to Ryan right away when the two first met. The ghost shell was simple, just white and orange but for some reason it was extremely adorable to the Titan. It reminded him of a past life. “I’m aware man.” Ryan mumbled back, his eyes closed and unwilling to open. “We’re twenty minutes late. Shouldn’t you get up?” The ghost asked as he gently poked and prodded at the Titan’s form. Ryan let out a grunt and swatted at his partner. “I just want one day off…” He grumbled as he began to get up. “Well hero’s don’t get days off!” The ghost exclaimed in a sassy tone. “But if you wanna be worse at your job, then by all means.” Ryan rolled his eyes at the creature as he slid off the bed. It took the man about 30 minutes to get ready as his energy was completely gone. So many missions and so many sleepless nights. There was other Guardian’s, why did he have to do everything? Sure he was a hero, he was used to the title but damn, what he wouldn’t do for a good night’s sleep. With a sigh the man shook his head and removed those thoughts. No, it was an honor to help those in need. He would do it for the rest of eternity if he had to, Guardian’s just don’t simply retire. That’s just called death.
“You’re late.” As Ryan entered Zavala’s office he noticed that all the Vanguard were there. These three were the most respected Guardians at the tower, they watched over each faction of lightbearers helping them grow and develop their powers. Zavala was an insanely strong Titan, a man with an iron will who worked tirelessly to keep the people of the City safe. Ikora was a beautiful woman with an even more beautiful mind, A warlock with almost every answer, she was the backbone of the Vanguard. Cayde-6 was a wise cracking Hunter who always made sure the job got done. Cayde was spinning in Big Blue’s chair “Oh god I’m gonna throw up!” The exo shouted while Ikora let out a chuckle. The Warlock was leaning against one of the many bookshelves in Zavala’s office. “Sorry I’m just...tired.” Ryan said quietly. “What’s the mission for today, I didn’t read the briefing before I crashed last night.” Zavala’s eyes hardened as he glared at the Titan. “Hey hey hey.” Cayde quickly hopped to his feet and placed a hand on Zavala’s shoulders. The exo had a bit of an issue standing due him being insanely dizzy. His feet shuffled before he finally found his balance. “Give the kid a break big guy, it’s been busy for him.” Ryan’s lips curled into a smile as he watched Cayde come to his rescue. The two had been friends for what seemed like ages. They would sometimes sneak away from the Tower together, get a drink, laugh and share stories of the many times they’ve accidentally died. Ryan didn’t have many friends, each guardian looked up to him, leaving him no room to relax and make mistakes. Cayde however saw the real Ryan. A goof ball with a heart of gold, even if he was a bit uptight. The exo gave Ryan a wink and Zavala let out a heavy sigh. “There’s been a riot at the Prison of Elders. We need you and Cayde to get down there and figure out what happened.” The Titan Vanguard pressed his fists onto the table in front of him as he thought. The map of the prison laid out in front of him as he stared hard at it, almost like he was hoping for it to give him answers. “It seems like a trap. Make sure you stick together and DON’T do anything stupid.” Zavala’s eyes quickly switched from the map and laid upon Cayde as the Exo smirked and shrugged his shoulders. “Why you looking at me?” The brown haired Titan failed to keep his laugh inward and Ikora followed with another chuckle. “May the Traveler help me…” Zavala muttered.
“You look like shit.” Cayde said plainly as he watched Ryan ready his guns in the front of the prison. “Yeah well so do you.” The man countered as he snapped the Hunter a look. “Hey, I look amazing, don’t take your anger out on me. Have you seen my horn?” The Hunter gestured to the piece of metal sticking out from his head causing Ryan’s ghost to let out a small giggle. “Don’t side with him!” The Titan yelled, giving his ghost a swat before he moved towards the doors of the giant prison. The building was insane to look at, huge and towering, it gave off a sense of loneliness and sadness that could only be brought by the Darkness. It was reef made, shining in the light of the sun. In a way it was beautiful, but the longer you looked, the harder it was to see the beauty. As the two got closer to the doors they began to hear the nightmares inside. There was screaming, crying, you could hear body parts being ripped off one another. The smell was overbearing as the two took in the view in front of them. At first Ryan thought this would be a fun trip with his pal, but Cayde knew better. The man had a past with this prison and it haunted him almost every damn day. “Ready?” Cayde asked as he spun the Ace of Spades around his fingers. Ryan gave the exo a nod and the two charged in together.
The entire prison was a brawl. Every creature had escaped its cell and was struggling for survival. Vex were everywhere, dismantling each other and anything they could get their hands on, Fallen crawled through the holes in the walls attacking anyone who came too close. Cabal were beginning to claim the lower half of the prison while the top layer somehow had become infested with Hive. The prison warden was nowhere to be seen, Cayde concluded that he probably fled fast when everything went downhill. As the two shot their way through the floors of the Prison they used each other as sounding boards. It wasn’t clear as to what happened. They needed to get some answers. “Any big boys being kept here?” Ryan called out as he rammed his fist straight through a Fallen’s skull. Cayde shook his head as his knife slit a Cabal’s throat. “Just your regular scum, Ya got some pretty big fallen in here though!” Cayde’s eyes widened as his body halted. Fallen. FALLEN! “Shit!” The Hunter suddenly started sprinting as his body left Ryan behind in the dust. The Titan’s mind raced as he squickly attempted to keep up. “CAYDE!” Ryan called out, shooting whatever came to close to the Hunters back. “What the fuck are you doing?!” “We need to get to the bottom floor, NOW!” Cayde yelled as he scrambled to what used to be an elevator. The vex had completely destroyed most of the machines in the prison at this point. “Shit shit shit!” The exo desperately looked for another way down. Ryan’s form finally caught up the Hunter as the man panted slightly. Ryan knew it wasn’t smart to ask questions now, whatever had Cayde panicking needed to be dealt with sooner rather than later. He had never seen the Exo act like this before. The Titan knew his friend had secrets and this was quickly seeming like one of them. “Wait, I got an idea.” Ryan stated. Taking a few steps back, the Titan’s fists filled with electricity. The Hunter quickly leapt back as Ryan slammed his fists onto the weakest part of the floor, causing metal and pipes to break and give way. It was a big enough hole that they could both hop down but god knows how far it was and how dangerous it could be. That was their only option. Cayde didn’t waste a single second. The moment the Titan stepped back from the hole he created, the Hunter jumped straight in. “CAYDE!” Ryan cried out. Crap, what is going on with this hunter?! There was no other choice. He had to jump too. After a few minutes of pacing and overthinking, Ryan’s ghost appeared and rammed his small shell into Ryan’s spine. “GO!” The ghost yelled causing Ryan to startle and fall. “SHIT!”
The Titan wasn’t graceful. The fall had too many bumps and bruises along the way. Pipes, random bits of metal, a floor that couldn’t handle the thundering Titan, all were a bit too much for the man as he passed out before he finally hit the last floor. This is what Ghost’s were for. Guardian’s died almost ever mission but thankfully if their ghost survived they could bring them back. Yogi was quick to appear as he began healing and swearing. Cayde had already run past with no concern over the Titan. Something was going on and the exo knew exactly what. “CAYDE!” Yogi cried out watching as the Vanguard charged into the very last room of the prison. “Shit shit shit!” With one final healing ray Ryan’s dead body woke with a jolt. He was given life once again. “Fuck. CAYDE!” Ryan cried out as the man struggled to his feet. “He ran in there!” The ghost called out as he vanished once again to avoid being hit. The titan quickly ran towards the final room in search of his friend. As the Titan hurried after the Hunter’s trail, Ryan quickly realized that he had made a horrible mistake. Why did he wait, why did he flinch?! It was just a damn jump, he was meant to be a hero! Now the damn Hunter was going to do something stupid, SO SO STUPID! Suddenly a powerful wave of light came from the final room and knocked Ryan right off his feet. Gasping, the Titan scrambled to stand as fast as he could. That light could only mean one thing. One very bad thing. “Was that...his ghost?” Ryan’s partner asked out softly. Ryan’s body suddenly became covered in flames as the man charged into the last room, breaking the door down ready for a fight. But a fight did not come. There, in the darkness of the room laid what Ryan thought as his only friend. There was no one here, there was no signs of anyone lingering and all Ryan could do was stare. It all happened so fast. He was only moments behind Cayde, if only he had been faster. After minutes of just standing, unable to process what had happened, how it happened and what was going on, the Titan fell to his knees with a loud crash. The man’s ghost appeared beside him as they both sat in silence. “I’m sorry Cayde.” The ghost whispered as Ryan remained silent, tears in his eyes. Who could have made such quick work of the exo? Cayde was one of the strongest Guardian’s to ever exist. It had to have been quick, instant. Ryan’s brain scrambled to put a picture together. The fall must have insanely damaged the hunter, but not enough to slow him down, his ghost must have appeared to heal him and...got taken out leaving Cayde defenseless. Fuck. FUCK! This was his fault. Ryan’s tears finally escaped his eyes and landed upon the cold prison floor. Suddenly, movement began in the very back corner of the room. Ryan’s eyes jolted towards it as the Titan filled with anger rose to his feet. His ghost quickly vanished from view as laughter swarmed the air. “Awww, you’re sensitive! That’s cute.” It was a females voice, it was tauntingly beautiful as it was disgusting. With a skip and a hop a young woman appeared in front of the Last City’s champion. “So you’re the one boss man has taken a liking too! Ya seem like a sad sack but eh, who am I to judge.” The girl shrugged with a smirk on her lips. The woman’s body was covered by a slim fitting black leather coat, green snakes covered it’s arms and chest. Her legs were hidden by black pants and what seemed to be green high heeled boots. The side of the woman’s head was shaved with two snakes intertwined but her face was covered by a mask. It’s design was like a snake lunging at you, fangs, spit and all. The mask’s eyes were an intense green. Her hair was a dark chocolate brown and it fell far past her shoulders, close to her hips. As the man took her form in, she darted forwards to Cayde’s body, ripping something from the Exo’s hand and jumping back faster than the Titan could react. “Ohhh! Shiny!” She squealed out as she played with what was left of the Hunters gun. The Ace of Spades! It had been insanely damaged from the fall and was almost crumpling in the woman’s hands. Ryan’s body shook as rage overflowed his entire form. “GIVE THAT TO ME!” The man cried out as he lunged straight for the woman. With a laugh the girl easily dodged the Titan’s charge and ran for the door he had busted down. “Whoa there cowboy! You gotta behave if you wanna get this back!” Ryan’s form crashed into the far end wall, unable to stop his movement. As he began to try and turn around, ready to charge again, a wall of ice covered what used to be a doorway with the woman on the other side. The Titan’s form halted as his eye’s widened. What was this? “HEY!” The man’s fists pounded on the solid ice as the girl giggled. The wall was cold, just touching it filled the man with dread and emptiness causing him to flinch and remove his hands quickly. “Don’t worry babe, I’ll give this back to you...in time.” And with that, silence. The mysterious woman was gone. Ryan’s form slowly sank to the ground as he stared at the un-melting ice. “Yogi. Call Zavala” Ryan spoke after a few minutes of blank staring. “I failed.”
