Winter Watercolor Work
yes, it's summer, but I'm looking back on winter watercolor work...
“Do not think that I have stopped painting, for at any moment, I am liable to paint a good picture.” – Winslow Homer With just a quick look at the home page for this blog one can see how immersed I had become teaching visual art in a 1:1 iPad school, developing learning experiences in digital art, animation, 3D design, and so on, balanced with hands-on experiences in clay and paint. My students…

Photography: The Thing With Feathers
Photography: The Thing With Feathers
“Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul – and sings the tunes without the words – and never stops at all.” Emily Dickinson Rose Breasted Grosbeak in flight in our back yard! For years I’ve been taking photos of the birds in our yard using my cell phone or cameras, trying to capture the spirit of their flight, the flutter or their wings, the intensity of their diverse…

Emerging: Power Line Park
Emerging: Power Line Park
“And then we emerged to see the stars again“- Dante Alighieri* I’ve been meaning to write this post for a long time. It’s about a National Grid project nearby that has had a far-reaching, positive impact on my life. And it occurred after nearly a year and a half of having our lives changed dramatically by the Covid pandemic. This will be my final post for the #HomeTime and #pandemiclife category…

Haiti Earthquake Relief Update - March
Haiti Earthquake Relief Update – March
St. Gabriel’s Parish (and the former Holy Angels Parish) has been in a twinning relationship with St. Anne Parish in Sucreri Henry, Haiti for 20 years. The church is the hub of the community and also hosts a K-12 school, vocational school and medical clinic. On August 14, 2021, a 7.2-magnitude earthquake destroying or severely damaging all of the buildings at St. Anne’s. Several of the buildings…

Rocky Pine Potters
“Almost all creativity requires purposeful play.” – Abraham Maslow                                                                                                             For the last few summers I’ve enjoyed working with clay in the pottery studio/woodworking shop in our backyard. I’ve explored wheel throwing and hand-building and on most of the pieces have incorporated imprints from clay…
