this might get me hate but…
I’m almost glad that JYP stepped in and either stopped or put a pause on Chan’s Room. (I AM NOT HAPPY IF IT WAS MEANT AS A PUNISHMENT FOR CHAN but from what I see it does not look like it)
Chan’s room used to be a kinda chill space where the comments were mostly stays when it was on Vlive. As the boys grew so did the fandom and a bigger fandom always means that there will be more people with different opinions and things started to get a little bit messy with the comments. After he had to move it youtube… it was much more of a big public thing. It was no longer Chan and stays and then more and more people started taking his words and twisting it and I feel like it would only get worst in the future. The boys were also getting busier and busier.
we all know Chan, we know how much promises mean to him and… we’ve seen first hand how he would often go live when he was meant to be resting. I knew that trying to do weekly Chan’s room wasn’t going to be healthy for him with his schedule. We know how Chan loves being open with us but I feel there are so many people watching him and trying to get him in trouble now. as someone who overthinks, if I had to go through what he did with how people twisted his words, I’d need a long break to mentally recover and I hope at the very least that he gets that break.
I’m devastated if this is the end of Chan’s room but I can also see how this might be better for Chan. It doesn’t mean he’ll never go live again, but it means at least the pressure of keeping his promise is taken off his shoulder whether for a little bit or for ever now.

Things I Would say to Stray Kids at a Fansign (Hyungline +Hyunjin)
I don’t think I’ll ever get to go to a stray kids fansign but these are some things I would say to them at this moment. I got too emotional so it’s just Hyungline and hyunjin for now. Warning: I feel like a lot of these are cheesy and emotional but I’m in that kinda mood rn.
Tumblr media
CHAN
Hi Chan, how are you? This is going might be a bit cheesy and I apologize for that. I think you’ve done so well and you are still doing so well. You’re not perfect and you’re never going to be perfect at least not in the way that the voice in your head tells you to be. Maybe I’m overstepping but I want you to know that no one can be perfect and no one can be you either. You are amazing even with the flaws that you see in yourself. We don’t love perfection but we love you and will continue to love all the different aspects of what makes you… you. It’s okay to be imperfect and it’s okay to make mistakes and fail but you don’t have to shoulder everything yourself because no matter what we will be by your side. I know there’s only so much that we can do for you as fans but I just hope that you won’t have a hard time by yourself and you can take care of yourself. Make mistakes, continue to grow, eat well, try and sleep well and I hope that you will be happy and healthy more than anything else. I love you.
Tumblr media
LEE KNOW
Hi Lee Know, how are you? I hope you don’t mind if I immediately say something serious? I have a lot of anxiety and am usually scared of interacting with people but I’m not scared of interacting with you. There’s a kindness and warmth in you that I know people like to joke isn’t there but I see it clearly. When I watch videos of Lee Know talking to stays I just get filled with so much happiness. There’s a shine in your eyes that shows how much you care about stays and how much you care about the members. I find your singing voice super soothing and Limbo is such a good song I really look forward to more from you. Please also keep sending videos of Soonie, Doongie, and Dori. I really love watching your vlogs, I love watching the world through your eyes and thank you for sharing that with Stays. Love you!
Tumblr media
CHANGBIN
Hi Binnie! Is it okay for me to call you Binnie hehe? I laugh the loudest when you make a joke. You really have managed to cheer me up on days that are rough. You’ve brought me so much joy. Sorry I Love You is one of my favorite Stray Kids songs. The words you wrote touch me deeply and I wish we had time to just sit and talk about love and life. I wish I was more like you, more steadfast in beliefs, more about to joke around about myself, more able to be there for others. I often see you taking care of others but I hope you take care of yourself as well. Our Binnie really is the cutest member and honestly don’t worry about abs. We love you just as much with or without abs because you are so much more than just some muscles. Your personality shines so brightly even in comparison to the gleam of your arm muscles. Love you Binnie!
Tumblr media
HYUNJIN
Hi Hyunjin! How have you been lately? I know you’re super busy with a lot of fashion stuff and I hope you’re getting enough rest. I feel like with every fashion event you’ve gone to you have completely taken the spotlight! To be honest in everything you do I feel like you take the spotlight. I know part of that is your natural charisma but part of it is how much effort and hard work you put into it. I love each art piece that you share because I love seeing the world through your artistic eyes. I really look forward to you having a fashion line collab in the future because the jacket you painted in the music video was just so awesome. Every part of you is just so amazing and so lovely. Please take care of yourself~ love you~

Not Yet Spring
Not Yet Spring
Pairing: chan x fem reader (established relationship)
Genre: angst, comfort, healing
Warning: talks of depression, healing, loss of close friend, mental health struggles, implied loss of friend due to suicide, that incredibly disrespect comment during Chan’s vlive, reader curses, reader threatens violence ( does not act upon it)
Summary: Chan struggles after losing a friend and you try your best to help him.  Healing is never easy and grief sometimes never goes away but the two of you do your best for each other.
( same pair as in Winters Frost and Winter Breaks but can be read alone)
Word Count: 1.6k
Authors note: this is not an accurate representation of stray kids but an interpretation based on an idea that stems from them.
This is the same pair from Winter breaks and Winter frost but this can be read as a stand alone
This makes references to the tragic passing of Chan’s friend but I do not name him out of respect.
This was so hard to write but I tried my best. In all honesty the best thing to do would have been to get the reader to help Chan get a therapist but after previous dealings idk how much I trust therapists in Korea. If you are struggling, healing is hard and takes time, take all the time you need and try your best to heal in healthy way.
Tumblr media
“Come here ye?” Immediately at those words your false face of composure crumpled up and you dived into Chan’s arms. He gently patted the back of your head as you sobbed into his shoulder. Your loud cries almost echoed in the otherwise silent studio. Chan was silent but you felt the little tremors that indicated he was also crying. As the tears left you, so did your energy and soon enough your loud cries became soft hiccups muffled by the wet fabric of Chan’s hoodie.
When you first heard the news you didn’t believe it. You didn’t know him personally but you had greeted each other a couple times before. You remembered the shy smile he gave you before he and his band mates were whisked away by their manager. They were bickering and laughing about something that you couldn’t quite make out. You were once again hit with the reminder that you would never know what someone was going through just by looking at them.
“How are the boys handling it?” You asked as you pulled slightly away from Chan to look him in the face. You gently wiped at the tears on his face with your sleeve.
“They’re all together right now comforting each other and I’m having them check in every hour. I already got management to cancel our next few schedules so everyone has time to process and mourn.” Chan choked a little at the word ‘mourn’ and you felt your heart clench painfully.
“How are you handling it?” You asked as you reached for his hands to take them in your own.
“I’m not sure, I think I’m still in shock? How… can he … just be gone?” For the first time in your life you saw Chan look utterly lost and you squeezed his hands.
“Why were you still alone in the studio Channie?” You had thought Chan would have made his way back to the dorm to be with the boys when you called, you didn’t expect him to say that he was still in Chan’s Room all alone.
“I was here when I heard the news and then I guess I’ve been busy calling the boys and calling our managers and…”
“You haven’t had a moment for yourself to process things yet?”
“I didn’t want to go back to the dorm before I figured out how to be there for the boys and be strong.”
“Oh Channie,” you wrapped your arms around him and pulled him in the strongest hug you could muster. “You don’t always have to be strong, it’s so hard to be strong about losing someone.”
It is,” Chan whispered as you felt his arms wrapped around you. “It’s not fair,” he said ever so faintly.
“It’s not,” you agreed. It wasn’t fair that someone so young and bright was no longer someone that you both could ever meet again. Chan’s shoulders shook more and you held him tightly in your grasp scared that any moment he might slip away.
“I wish there was something I could have done, something I could have said.”
You understood how Chan felt, those were the same feelings you felt when you lost someone close to you. The fear and guilt that stemmed from wishing you could have changed things so that they would still be here with you. There was nothing you or Chan could do to change what had already happened and you understood how soul crushing that was.
You held Chan as he cried himself to sleep and you gently positioned him so he laid somewhat comfortably on the sofa. You wiped the remaining tears on his sleeping face and just sat on the floor watching how his chest rose and fell with each breath.
Your phone vibrated in your pocket and you took it out to see Han calling you.
“Hello?” You answered softly, careful not to wake Chan.
“Noona? Are you with Chan Hyung right now?” Han asked and you could hear from how  hoarse his voice was that he had been crying.
“Yeah, he’s taking a little nap right now, when he wakes up I’ll take him back to the dorm.”
“Okay that’s good, we wanted him to come back as soon as the news broke but… we knew he needed time to… process,” Han said and you could almost picture him shaking his head. “Is he okay?”
“Everything is still a little raw but I’m with him,” you didn’t want to just say that he was okay and trivialize the pain that he was feeling. “How are you guys doing?”
“A lot of crying, bring some packs of tissues when you come over because we’re running out. But we… are a bit lost, a bit confused and just majorly sad I guess.”
“It’s hard to process but remember you guys need to take care of yourselves.”
“Yeah we know, Minho Hyung is already ordering the others around to help him make soup. Take care of Chan Hyung.”
“Of course.”
“When does it start to feel real?” Chan asked suddenly as you were driving him back to the dorms.
“Sometimes it never does, like there are still times where I think that maybe it was just a horrible prank and at any moment he’s going to show up at my studio to work on a song together. Other times it’s too real, so real that I don’t know what to do with myself. The emptiness never quite gets filled.” You and Chan knew that you didn’t always  handle the pain and sadness you felt in the healthiest way but you wanted nothing more than to help Chan with his pain. “A lot of times I remind myself that even if he isn’t physically here, the memories of him will forever be with me.”
“It hurts to even think about… anything.”
“I know and for a lot of people the pain doesn’t lessen, you just kinda grow numb to it. I don’t believe time heals all wounds but it does help dull the pain.” You placed your hand on his knee and gave it a squeeze. The rest of the drive was silent, you glanced at Chan every once in a while to see him simply staring into space.
“Channie I know you love your fans but I swear to fucking god that I’m going to punch the one that asked you that right in the fucking face.” You were seething in anger as you pulled Chan into your chest, the two of you lying on his bed. You had watched him go live for Chan’s Room from a corner of his actual room, out of view of the camera. Things went really well until you heard Chan read out the question “were guys close?”
“I guess I never really mentioned it so they didn’t know,” Chan mumbled into the fabric of your hoodie.
“They had no right asking that and you had no need to justify your sadness,” you tried to hold yourself back but you could feel the angry tears slide down your face.
“Baby why are you crying?” Chan asked as he slid up so his face was next to yours and he pressed his forehead into yours.
“Because you won’t cry for yourself, you carry the weight of the world and everything unfair on your shoulders like you think you need to and that you deserve to. You don’t Channie, you don’t,” you turned around because you knew that if you kept looking at him you would fully break down. You felt his arms encircle your waist and faintest kiss on the back of your neck. “If you apologize because I’m crying right now I will punch you in the face along with that fan,” you lightly threatened through your sniffles.
“You know me so well, what did I do to deserve you in my life,” Chan spoke quietly with a soft chuckle at your threat.
“You did nothing but exist and that was enough to draw me to you.”
“I love you,” he said as he gave you a soft squeeze.
“I love you too.”
“It really doesn’t get easier,” he said suddenly as the two of you were in the studio trying to workshop a song for the next stray kids album. The melody was soft and almost nostalgic in a way you didn’t know how to describe in words.
“It doesn’t,” you agreed, knowing what he meant.
You wished that he had more time to himself to work out his emotions and to just be sad but he didn’t. The boys had their comeback and they were already trying to put together another album. They could only push back and cancel so few things before the company and some of the boys got anxious about timing. They were at the height of their careers and nobody on the team wanted to take too much of a break in fear of that height sliding down. There was only so much you could do or say to convince Chan of anything otherwise so you spent your days just by his side. Making sure he ate his meals and at least put his phone away at a sorta healthy hour to try and get some sleep. Sleep didn’t come easy to either of you but at least the two of you could cuddle and talk about nothing and everything all at once.
“It hurts less but it still hurts,” he sighed as he closed his laptop and leaned back in his chair.
“Take all the time in the world you need Channie, as long as you’re not hurting yourself or others then there’s no wrong or right length of time it takes to heal.”
“I wish one day I would wake up and it just stops hurting,” Chan said as he leaned his head against your shoulder.
“I can’t promise that, but I can promise that one day you’re going to be able to remember their smile and the happier memories more clearly than the painful ones,” you turned to give him a quick kiss on the head as you felt his body relax into your shoulder.
“I really hope so.”

Note
just read your serendipity series and i loved it. i love canon fics and the fact you brought in so many realistic details about kingdom and the specific end of teh year shows and i love how you portrayed minho.
oh thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it! I worried about adding too much realism but I’m so happy to hear that you liked it!

Tumblr media
You looked up and in walked Felix followed by two of his group mates again. He made a habit of coming by almost every day and usually he was followed by a buddy of his or two or sometimes more. You had heard Boss mention that maybe it wasn’t wise for idols to be visiting your particular establishment so often but most of them had said they liked the atmosphere and how different it was from their day-to-day. Weird kids, but then again it would be hard to find a place like Ace bar with its moody lights, pool tables filled with rowdy gang members, and the most respected/feared bartender/owners in all of Seoul.
Felix looked around and didn’t see Boss so he walked over to you while he waved and smiled at a couple of regulars who greeted him, his bandmates bowed politely and you couldn’t tell if it was amusing or endearing to see.
“Boss in the office with Danny, be out soon,” you told him before he had a chance to open his mouth. He gave you a shy smile as he and the rest of them sat down.
“Hello to you too,” he said with a chuckle and you held everything in to make sure you kept a poker face. His two bandmates, Changbin and Minho greeted you much more nervously. You only nodded as you reached down to grab Felix his Cola.
“You two drinking?” You asked as you passed Felix his drink which he took with glee.
“Could I get a Mojito?” Minho asked.
“Driving?” You asked, usually, you didn’t care but you needed to make sure nothing happened to them or Boss would probably get a bit crazy. Minho seemed surprised before he quickly shook his head.
“No he’s driving today,” he pointed at Changbin who gave you a nod and you started work on the Mojito.
“Could I get a soda water?” Changbin asked after you handed Minho his Mojito. You saw Minho say something to the two boys and he walked off to the pool table area. You’ve seen him hang with some of the rookies in Danny’s group and it surprised you to see them all laughing together. You thought back to the hard stare Minho had when he approached boss to talk about Felix and you had to admit he did look like he would fit in the most with your crowd.
Felix and Changbin talked about some track they were working on and Felix asked you a couple of things that you mostly gave one-word answers to. You made the mistake of smiling at something he said once, a mistake you wouldn’t make easily a second time.
“Kiddo you’re here early today,” Boss said as she walked out from where her office was followed by Danny. Felix stood up fast and nearly ran over to give her a big hug. Danny had such a sappy look on his face as he watched and you did your best not to have one too.
“Missed you,” you heard Felix say, and damn it was cute to see.
The two of them walked over to Boss’s section of the bar and he sat in his usual spot as they chatted.
“They’re so different but so good for each other,” you looked over to see Changbin who you had almost forgotten was still sitting in front of you. He had the softest smile on his face and you could tell how much fondness he had for Felix.
“Never thought I’d see the day where boss would get so attached,” Danny said as he sat down next to Changbin. Danny was six foot and built like a wall so Changbin looked tiny next to him, even if his own arm muscles were rather impressive.
You silently slid over Danny’s usual vodka shot and went about cleaning glasses.
After a bit Danny had gone off to the pool table section and your area of the bar was just silent drinkers and… Changbin. He was silent as well but every time you glanced over at him he glanced away like he had been caught staring at you. After the tenth time you finally had enough and asked, “what?” which seemed to have caught him off guard.
“Hmm?” He questioned as he looked past your head and not at you.
“You keep looking at me, what do you want?”
“I wasn’t! I was just- I…” he was flustered and you couldn’t help but applaud how easy it was for him to wear his feelings on his sleeve.
“What do you want?”
“I was just wondering how to get you to smile,” he confessed and it took a moment to register what he said.
“What?”
“Felix said you smiled at something he said before before and it’s just been stuck on my mind,” there was a light pink dusting on his cheeks as he spoke and you found it endearing but you wouldn’t say it aloud.
“Weird fixation,” you said as you poured someone a shot of whisky.
“I know I’m sorry, I've just been wondering what it’s like to see you smile.”
“You’re honest.”
“It’s one of my worst best traits,” he said with a little chuckle. You took a moment to just look at him, with his messy fluffy hair, his black t-shirt that was tight across his chest and the pink on his cheeks. He looked like he could fit in as one of your goons but somehow just…cuter. Plus you were pretty sure that he was too good a person to survive in your world.
“Is there something on my face?” He asked and you shook your head.
“Just looking,” you continued to stare at him before he had to look away and you turned around to hide your smile from him. Too fucking cute.
Changbin spent most of the night trying to make small talk and ask you questions that you mostly gave one-worded answers to. You thought he would give up trying to talk to you like most others have but he kept at it and seemed almost proud of himself when you said more than two words to him. He often went on little tangents as he told a story about some of the antics he and the boys would get into.
“Then Hyunjin spilled coffee all over his shirt and he screamed loud enough that our manager ran in thinking that someone died,” he smiled fondly  as he took a sip of his drink. “He got scolded for 30 whole minutes as the coordi-noona had to try to scrub the coffee out.”
“Coordi-noona?”
He patiently explained the idol terms that you had no idea about.
“It’s late,” you finally told him when you noticed that it was almost past midnight, not late for you but for the boys. He checked his phone and then groaned as he turned to see where Minho was.
“Guess we should leave before Chan Hyung gets nervous,” he said even though he didn’t make an effort to actually get up. “It was really nice talking to you,” he said and you raised an eyebrow.
“Was it?”
“Yeah, it really was,” he gave you a smile before he stood up to fetch Felix and Minho.
After the boys left, with Felix and Changbin giving you a final wave, Boss walked over with a grin that you could only describe as trouble.
“I saw you chatting with Changbin,” she said, her tone spelling more trouble.
“He was mostly talking to himself,” you told her, hoping that she would just drop it.
“I see, I see,” she still had the same smile on her face.
“What do you want?” You asked, letting the tiniest bit of annoyance come out in your voice.
“I just happened to see you smile at him, sadly it seemed like I was the only one that saw it.”
You stilled and cursed how observant Boss was even when she was with her boy.
“There’s nothing wrong with that, you know? They’re charming kiddos,” Boss’s expression softened and you knew that she meant well. You wouldn’t be where you were today if it weren’t for her and you owed her to be truthful.
“He’s cute,” you finally admitted.
“Damn I never expected you to say that out loud.”
“I despise him,” you turned away once again, hardening your heart.
“You can only build so many walls before you run out of material,” Boss warned with a sigh before she gave you a pat on the back and walked back to her section of the bar.
That night you asked Vickie to let you use her boxing facilities to let out some of the feelings you had to keep under wraps.
“Oh my god, are you alright?” Felix asked as he rushed over to you the next day.
“Fine,” you told him and Changbin, who ran over with him. They both tried to get a better look at your face but you turned away the best you could.
“Was there a fight after we left?” Changbin asked as he leaned over the bar to try to get closer to you.
“No,” you answered, not yet turning around.
“Then what happened? Why are you hurt?” You heard the frustration and worry in Changbin’s voice and it made you feel… something.
“She’s fine, just a bit rusty is all,” Vickie said and you turned around to see her standing behind the boys who looked at her in confusion and shock. “We were just exercising a bit,” she supplied with a wink at you while you rolled your eyes.
“I doubt it would end with just a black eye if I were really just a bit rusty,” you told them as they sat down in front of you now that they knew you were mostly alright.
“No fair, the two of you should have invited me to join in the fun as well,” Boss chimed in as she walked over. Felix’s face lit up and she gave him a light kiss on the forehead.
“Nope, the one time I had a mock fight with you, you ended up breaking one of my ribs,” Vickie pointed a finger at Boss who was fairly focused on patting Felix in the head.
“That was years ago, besides, now you always know to guard your ribs,” Boss chuckled as she handed Felix a Cola.
“So you girls just fight each other for fun or something?” Changbin finally brought up as he looked between the three of you.
“Fun is a strong word although that’s probably what it is for Vickie, for the rest of us sometimes we need a bit of practice or to let off some steam,” Boss shot you a look and you knew that she knew exactly why you needed the exercise.
“Your drink?” You asked Changbin just hoping that everyone could move on from the conversation.
“Uh, just a soda water please,” Changbin answered and you passed him his soda water.
“Y’all turning this place into a soda bar,” Vickie shook her head before she wandered off into the pool area to keep her eyes on the customers there. Felix and Boss walked over to her end of the bar whispering to each other and soon it was just you and Changbin in your section.
“You don’t play pool?” You asked. You hoped that maybe he would leave so you didn’t have to look at him and think about how fluffy his hair was.
“Not really, I don’t have the brains for it to figure out the angles and stuff.”
You wondered if maybe you should talk to Boss about adding some new facilities or something? Just to get the boy something to do instead of sitting there distracting you.
“Is your eye really okay?” Changbin asked gently. You sighed and leaned over so that the two of you were at eye level.
“Just bruised, it’s fine,” you said as you pointed at your right eye. In all honesty, it still throbbed with pain but you’ve handled worst… you’ve handled far worse.
“Should still put some ice on it maybe?” He suggested as you straightened back up.
“You won’t drop it will you?”
“I just want to make sure you’re really okay,” he said with so much sincerity that you didn’t really have much choice but to grab a clean towel and put an ice cube in it. You held it to your eye making sure to not wince at the pain of the towel touching your swollen face.
“Happy now?”
“That depends, do you feel a bit better?”
“I guess,” you admitted, the cold helping the burning heat in your eye quite a bit.
“Then yeah I’m happy now,” Changbin said with a giant grin.
“What’s that?” You pointed at the pink figure on the back of his phone case. He must have gotten a new phone case since you were sure you hadn’t seen it before.
“It’s Dwaekki!” Changbin exclaimed as he held it closer for you to see. It was a bright pink figure with both a pig snout and rabbit ears in a black T-shirt and a grin on its face.
“Dwaeji dokki?” You asked, unsure of why exactly a pink pig rabbit existed.
“Yes! It’s my skzoo, all of us have our own animal figures,” Changbin explained as he searched something up on his phone and showed you a row of animal figures on his screen.
“It’s cute,” you admitted and it took you a moment to realize what you said. Changbin didn’t seem to notice as he excitedly explained each member’s character.
“But of course, the cutest one is Dwaekki right?” He asked you with a smug smile and you suddenly saw how similar he looked to his figure.
“Sure,” you said as Changbin then whined about how you needed to admit that Dwaekki was the cutest because he was the cutest.
“I brought you a present!” Changbin came over with something behind his back and a huge grin on his face.
“Why?” You asked unsure what he could have gotten you.
“Because I wanted to! Guess what it is,” Changbin teased as he sat down still holding his hands behind his back.
“No idea.”
“Not any guess?”
“Nope.”
“It’s a Dwaekki!” Changbin brought out a doll of the figure he had previously shown you. He held it in front of his face and put on a voice to say, “hello I’m Dwaekki please take care of me!”
You let a giggle slip out and Changbin whipped the doll away from his face to look at you in shock.
“Did I actually manage to make you laugh?” He asked but you reverted your face back to being expressionless.
“Who knows,” you teased as you took the doll from him. “What am I to do with a Dwaekki?” You asked as you resisted the urge to poke at the doll in front of Changbin.
“Hold him, and give him plenty of love!”
“…I’ll use him for target practice.”
“Wait, you're not serious about that right?”
“Who knows.”
“Dwaekkiiiiii!”
“You look well,” you told your mother through the phone as you glanced at her through the glass scene separating the two of you. She looked expressionless as she always did, the orange of the suit drowning out her colors til she was as pale as a sheet of paper.
“As well as I can be,” she replied, her voice void of all emotion. “Has something good happened to you lately?” She asked and all the warmth drained out of your body.
“Why?”
“You have a look about you, a happier look about you.”
“There’s nothing,” you lied even though you thought about the boy with the fluffy hair who would always come by and chat with you even when you barely responded.
“There better be nothing,” your mother said as she leaned forward into her chair, the chains around her wrist clanged on the metal table separating the two of you. “People like you and me don’t deserve to feel happy.”
“My office couch,” Boss said as soon as she saw you walk in the door.
“I’m fine,” you assured as you made your way to the bar but Boss maneuvered around til she was standing in front of you blocking your way.
“Couch,” she said sternly as she pointed toward her office.
“I said I’m fine!” You shouted at her. As soon as you realized you had shouted you looked down at the ground in shame.
“I told you, you don’t need to come in on days that you see her,” Boss said as she pulled you into a hug and you didn’t struggle as she pushed you toward her office. “Get some rest,” she opened the door and watched until you laid down on the couch.
“I’m sorry,” you said softly just before she closed the door.
“Rest up,” Boss told you as the door closed behind her.
You closed your eyes and tried to not think about anything at all. To not think about the dead look in your mother’s eyes as she told you over and over again what you did and didn’t deserve.
You felt something hover over your face and you quickly reached out your hand to grab at and restrain whatever was over you
“It's just me!” You heard the familiar voice shout and you loosened your grip around the throat of a bewildered Changbin as your eyes adjusted to the light.
“Shit I’m sorry,” you said as Changbin started coughing and you knelt down on the floor next to him patting him on the back.
“That was more of my fault,” he said with a grimace through his coughs. “Should have known better than to stand over you while you were sleeping.”
You looked over his throat and sighed with relief when you didn’t notice any marks. “What are you even doing back here?”
“I asked where you were and Boss told me that you were sleeping in the office. I thought I’d come over and check up on you, make sure you didn’t have a fever or something,” his coughing subsided and he chuckled too good heartily for someone that you just almost choked.
“You could have died,” you told him point blank hoping that maybe he would view the situation more seriously.
“Lucky you realized it was me and let go then,” you couldn’t believe how he was smiling after that. “Let me know what your grip training regiment is because it must be damn impressive.”
“Ha,” you held a hand over your mouth but you couldn’t stop the laughter that overcame your body. “You’re insane,” you said through your laughs.
“I knew it,” he said with a bright grin.
“That you’re insane?” You wiped at a tear that escaped your eye from laughing too hard
“Well, that and you’ve got a really beautiful laugh.”
“Do all your band members like to flirt after a near-death experience?”
“What can I say? We’re special like that,” he looked at you seriously for a few seconds before the both of you burst out in laughter.
You helped him up so that the two of you were both sitting on the couch instead of the floor.
“No one’s ever made me laugh like that,” you told him after a brief moment of silence.
“Well, I am hilarious like that,” Changbin teased and you scoffed at that.
“Hilarious with a death wish,” you retorted and Changbin looked at you with a pout.
“Still hilarious!” He grinned at you again and this time you couldn’t help yourself as you reached your hand over to his head.
“Can I touch your hair?” You asked just before you made contact. He leaned his head into your hand and you finally felt through the fluff.
“Guess I understand why Felix likes to be petted now,” he said as he leaned more into your touch.
The two of you stayed like that just chatting and you petting his hair until Felix came to find him.
“We need to go now Hyung,” he said with a knock on the door and you hastily moved away from Changbin.
“You wait by the car I’ll be out in a few minutes,” Changbin told him and Felix gave you both a very… suspicious smile as he left.
“I’m not sure why you needed a nap back here but I hope you’re alright now?” Changbin asked as he turned to face you.
“Yeah… I had a rough day but… I feel much better now,” you answered, feeling lighter than you had in a while.
“That’s good, I was wondering… if tomorrow, maybe you would want to eat dinner with me?” He blushed and looked away while your mouth dropped in surprise.
“You’re asking me on a date?”
“Yes, I want to get to know you better and thought it would be nice to meet in a different environment. One not separated by a bar.”
You should have said no, you knew that but you didn’t want to. You were surprised by how much you wanted to agree to the date. How much you wanted to see Changbin and get to know him more.
“Fine,” you told him, agreeing before you could change your own mind.
“Give me your phone number so I can text you the details?” He shyly handed you his phone and you entered your digits before he rushed off with a promise to text you.
You arrived at the surprisingly fancy restaurant and swallowed down your nerves the best you could. When was the last time you were nervous? When you were much younger. You walked up to the hostess and gave her Changbin’s name. She walked you to a more secluded area of the restaurant and you saw Changbin sitting there with a black button-down shirt, a big change from his usual short sleeve black t-shirts. He stood up when he spotted you and rushed to your side to pull your chair out. You sat down with a soft thanks and he went back to sit at his side.
“You look really nice, that's a great color on you,” he said and you were glad you chose to go with your red top instead of your usual black one.
“You look rather nice yourself,” you complimented him, the nerves slipping away as you got comfortable in his presence again.
“This is a pretty fancy place,” you commented after the waiter took both your orders.
“Well I asked the boys for suggestions but they were all saying places like McDonald’s or all you could eat meat barbecues. I ended up calling my Noona and after she stopped teasing me she suggested this place.”
“Teasing you?”
Changbin coughed as he looked away from you. “I’m not repeating it, but I hope the food here is as good as she says so it will have been worth the teasing.”
“I see.” It falls silent after you speak and you wonder if you were meant to say something more. You weren’t used to Changbin being so silent and you wondered if maybe he expected you to talk more outside of the bar? Finally Changbin let out a sigh and you thought for sure that he was going to tell you this whole thing was a bad idea.
“It’s weird isn’t it?” He suddenly asked as he ran his hand through his hair.
“What is?”
“I don’t even know, I feel like I’m being so weird and nervous because I haven’t been on a proper date in so long and I don’t want to mess this up.”
“Why not?”
“Hmmm?”
Why haven’t you been on a proper date in so long?” You assumed with the way that Changbin looked, his confidence and not to mention arms that rivaled some gang members that worked out everyday, he’d have plenty of people that wanted to date him.
“It’s the whole idol thing you know,” he explained just as your food arrived. The two of you waited for the waiter to leave again before the conversation continued. “The first three years after debut we had a dating ban and honestly we were so focused on performances that there was no time for anything else. After that when we gained some level of popularity, I could never be sure why people would approach me  or what they would do after they found out I am an idol.”
“Sounds rough,” there were times that you forgot the man sitting in front of you was a superstar from how normal he and the rest of them acted.
“Maybe that’s why we hang out at Ace Bar so much,” Changbin said as he cut into his steak. “No one there treats us like we are anything special, no one cares if we’re idols or not.”
“And here I thought superstars would like getting treated like superstars.”
Changbin made a face of disgust at your words. “Absolutely not us, we’re just a team that wants to make music for people. That’s way more important to us than being treated specially or differently because of our popularity.”
“And here I was ready to tell Boss to make you boys a VIP section.”
Changbin stared at you with his mouth wide open in shock. You let him stare at you for a few extra seconds before you reached over and pushed his chin up so his mouth closed. “It’s a joke.”
“You scared me!” Changbin whined loudly before he realized the fancy setting and shushed himself. “You can’t make jokes with such a straight face!” He whispered yelled at you with a pout.
“Adorable,” you let out before you could stop yourself and his eyes widened.
“You think I’m adorable?”
“Don’t let it get to your head.”
“Don’t worry I think you’re adorable too.”
“You must be a maniac then.”
He laughed at that and you thought to yourself that it wasn’t fair for even his laugh to sound adorable.
The evening went well as the two of you continued to chat about various things. He paid for the dinner, “I invited you so I pay,” and reached a hand to help you get up from your chair. A hand you didn’t need but you took it anyway and he didn’t let go even after you stood up. His ears were fully pink as he led you out of the restaurant. It was weird that this was the first time you really stood next to him without anything separating the two of you. The two of you were about the same height which was interesting because you thought he was smaller. His hand were warm and fit very well with your own and you were happy to keep holding hands as you two discussed where to get desserts.
“Hello, pretty lady, on a date with your fella?” Three tall men in suits stood in front of the two of you. They towered over both of you as they came in quickly to surround you from three sides. You didn’t recognize them but you recognized that they were most likely looking for you due to your job.
“What of it?” You asked as you pulled Changbin behind you so that you were standing between him and the men.
“Nothing much, we just want to talk to you for a bit,” the goon in front of you jerked his thumb toward an alley away from the main road.
“Why can’t you just talk here?” Changbin asked as he tried to get in front of you but you pushed him back.
“You go home,” you told him, whatever these men needed, it was clear that it didn’t involve him.
“I’m not just leaving you-”
“It would be best if you leave the pretty lassie while we settle our business with her,” the goon on the left said with a patronizing tone as he clearly was trying to rile Changbin up. You placed a hand on Changbin’s chest so that he wouldn’t rush forward.
“Go home now,” you told him sternly and he looked at you with wide eyes.
“I’m not-”
“This has nothing to do with you,” you pushed his shoulder and he took a stumble back.
“If prince charming wants to come along he’s welcome to,” the goon sneered at the both of you.
“It’s easier for me to deal with this alone,” you told Changbin firmly and he stared into your eyes before finally clenching and unclenching his jaw.
“Fine,” he said with a huff as he walked away without looking back. His back looked so lonely as he walked but you knew that you drove him away for his safety.
You turned toward the three men and they gestured toward the alley.
“Shall we?” The goon you had been speaking with reached out his hand to grab yours but you pushed it away as you walked toward the alley.
Once the four of you were deep enough in you finally stopped and asked, “What do you want?”
“Sorry to interrupt you on your little date but your boss recently messed with some of our men and we need you to pass along a little message.”
The idiots from Busan you thought to yourself as you barely resisted the urge to roll your eyes. Danny and Boss were planning a full-scale Busan takeover but you guessed that they hadn’t made any moves yet.
“And what’s this message?” You asked as your crossed your arms. You made note that the other two goons were making their way behind you.
“Nothing too extreme, a finger or two would be appropriate,” he smiled in a way that was probably meant to be threatening but you thought he looked constipated.
“And if I don’t agree with the message?”
“I think a head with a bullet through it might send an equally good message,” the goon pulled open his suit jacket to reveal the piston hanging in the holster on his left side. A stupid move as you started calculating the amount of time it would take to knock him out  and grab his gun. You didn’t carry your pistol with you since it was a date but you still had the knife you kept hidden in the side of your boot. You wondered if the people in Busan just picked brawns over brains since they had been stupid enough to mess with you and boss.
The goon took your silence as fear and sneered as he walked closer. “I’m surprised your boss would let a pretty thing like you walk around without any guards. Even your little Prince Charming left you all alone with us like some sort of coward.”
Idiots the whole lot of them, you thought as he grabbed your shoulder. You were about to bring up your leg and knee him in the chest when you heard a shout behind you that made you seize up in fear.
“Let her go!” Changbin shouted as he dashed forward only to be restrained by one of the goons. He struggled in his grip to almost no avail. “I’ve already called the cops!” He continued to shout before getting punched in the face. You let out a gasp as Changbin went limp only managing to not fall on his knees because he was held up.
“Some sort of Prince Charming,” the goon in front of you said with a grin.
You saw white-hot rage as you brought your knee up and hit him right in the middle of the chest. There was a distinct crack. You grabbed your knife from your boot and embedded it in his right shoulder before you reached for his gun and pulled it out. He slumped to the ground and screamed in pain as you turned around and shot the goon who had punched Changbin in the head. The goon that held Changbin dropped in to try to reach for his own gun but you shot him in the neck before he managed to bring it out. You rushed over to grab Changbin who was barely conscious and wiped at the stray blood splatter that had gotten on him. He had his eyes scrunched closed as he groaned lightly. There didn’t seem to be any evidence of damage besides the cut on his lip, likely from his own teeth.
“You idiot, I told you to go home,” you said as you cradled his head in your lap, careful not to move him too much. You knew that the goon has used a lot of force and you were worried about any possible lasting damage to his head.
“Couldn’t leave you alone,” his voice came out quite wobbly and you swore that you would burn down all the gangs in Busan.
“Don’t talk too much right now but make sure you don’t fall asleep on me.”
“I can’t sleep, head hurts too much.”
“FREEZE POLICE!” You looked up to see four police officers rush into the alley. They pointed their guns around until one officer you knew as Sergeant Cho spotted you. He quickly signaled the others to keep their guns pointed at the two alive goons who were whimpering in pain before he rushed over to you.
“Are you two badly hurt?” He asked as he knelt down beside you.
“I’m not but get an ambulance for him, I’m worried about brain damage,” you told Cho who nodded and got to work on ordering ambulances on his walkie.
“Are you going to be okay?” Changbin struggled to grab you forward so that you were leaning down for him to whisper to you. “If you need to leave me and run, do that,” he tried to move only to wince and stop immediately.
“You don’t worry about any of that, you idiot. Worry about yourself,” you scolded him, astounded that he was thinking about you when he was the one that got punched in the face.
“I’ll be fine, still be as handsome as ever,” he tried to laugh but winced again. You shushed him gently.
“Ambulance will be here in two minutes,” officer Cho came back to tell you as his people started dragging the goons away. “How do you want us to mark this incident down?”
“They had an internal fight and it got out of hand, the one that got stabbed shot the other two, here’s his gun, wipe it down clean and add his prints,” you handed Cho the gun.
“Does he want to file a claim against them?” Cho asked as he pointed at Changbin but you quickly shook your head.
“He cannot come up in this at all, no record of his involvement must come up in any of this. Once you find out their names and their affiliation, tell me immediately,” you ordered and Cho gave you a long look.
“Warn us ahead of time if there’s going to be some large-scale bloodshed,” Cho pleaded as he rubbed his forehead.
“I’ll do my best,” you told him as the medics came over and you moved to let them handle Changbin. Or you tried to but he refused to let go of your hand so you ended up right by his side as they checked his vitals and got him on a gurney.
“It’s probably just a light concussion but we’re taking him to the hospital to give him a scan to make sure everything's alright.” They told you as everyone filed into the back of the ambulance. You continued to hold his hand as you got your phone out and called Boss to tell her everything. She cursed for a solid minute before she calmed down enough to tell you that she would call Felix so that he could tell the boys where Changbin was.
“How are you feeling?” You asked as you handed him a glass of water. They had scanned him and found that it was indeed only a light concussion and there was nothing else wrong. He had am iceback on his cheek that had clearly swollen up and his lip was bandaged to cover the cut but overall you were happy that it was nothing too serious. You knew that you needed to talk to him about how serious it could have been but you didn’t want to at the moment while his head still hurt. You both sat in the waiting room just waiting for Chan to come to pick him up.
“Not gonna lie, it doesn’t feel like these painkillers are working on this headache,” he complained as he took a sip of the water.
“Give it three more minutes,” you said as you gently rubbed his back.
“That’s speaking from experience?”
“Do you really want to know?”
“Maybe later when my head doesn’t feel like it’s going to split in two.”
“BIN,” you both looked over to see a frantic Chan rush in and immediately run towards Changbin.
“Oh my god, Bin you look terrible!” He cried out as he took in Changbin’s swollen face.
“Geeze thanks Hyung that’s nice of you.”
“I knew it! I knew this was a bad idea! I told Felix and I told you but none of you listened to me!” Chan was shouting as he paced back and forth and Changbin winced at his volume.
“Hyung can you-“
“This is not happening again! I don’t care how you feel I’m not risking you or Felix or any of the members!”
“Chan, quiet down,” you told him calmly as you noticed Changbin holding a hand to his head again.
“No! You don’t get to tell me to quiet down when you almost got my member killed!” Chan got right up in your space and you stood up to face him.
“Quiet down because he has a concussion and your loud fucking voice is hurting him,” you jabbed at his chest and you saw the anger deflate from him as he turned to look at Changbin.
“Shit, sorry Bin,” Chan said as he rushed to help Changbin stand. “Let’s get you back to the dorm and rest up.”
“Bye,” you quickly said as you rushed off ignoring the calls of your name from behind you. Once you were alone you finally let everything hit you at once and you let out a deep sigh. Changbin almost died because of you. He got hurt because of you. He saw you kill people. Once he processed everything he wouldn’t want to be around you anymore and you wouldn’t blame him. Your mother's words once again echoed in your head. People like you and me don’t deserve to be happy.
“Felix said that Chan’s still on edge but he seems to be coming around to letting the boys out again,” Boss told you a few days later. Felix and the rest of the boys had been banned from leaving the dorm for anything other than idol-related things as Chan had them on lockdown. Boss had been mostly in the back with Danny going over their plan to completely take over Busan but you knew that she missed seeing Felix around from the way she would sigh when she spotted his empty spot. Another ping of guilt hit your gut. You always ruin things when you let your emotions out.
“Smoke break,” you quickly told Boss as you grabbed the newly purchased pack of cigarettes and left the bar before she could further comment anything. You made your way tothrough the back entrance and arrived at the dimly lit alley behind the bar. You squatted down and leaned against the brick wall as you let out a deep breath. You were lighting up your second cigarette of the night when you heard his voice.
“I didn’t know you smoked.”
“There’s a lot you don’t know about me,” you said not looking up, you threw the unlit cigarette on the ground. “You shouldn’t be here.”
“Chan finally gave up or I think Felix finally wore him down. So he’s lifted the travel ban,” Changbin squatted next to you. You looked over and saw that the swelling in his cheek had gone down and the cut on his lip had scabbed over. “You’re finally looking at me,” he said with a brighter smile than you deserved.
“That’s not what I meant,” you quickly looked away before you let yourself get lost in his eyes.
“You mean the back entrance? Boss said I would find you here.”
“No, you shouldn’t be here at all Changbin, go back home.”
“That didn’t work the first time you told me to do that so why would you think it would work now?”
“Changbin!” You turned to look at him in frustration. “Why are you here? You got hurt because of me! You saw me kill people!”
“To be fair I didn’t really see that, I had my eyes closed the whole time, the whole events after the punch are a little fuzzy,” he shrugged lightly while you just stared at him with your mouth open.
You couldn’t believe him. You reached your hand over and grabbed at his throat with enough force that he landed on his ass. “I could kill you right now.”
“But you’re not going to,” he said calmly, too calmly for someone whose life was literally in your hands.
“How do you know that?” You hissed through your teeth.
“Because you’re trying to make your point but you're not actually hurting me,” he said as calm as ever and you felt the strength leave your arm. You let him go and joined him sat on the floor.
“You’re either really brave or a real idiot,” you chuckled lightly at how silly the situation was.
“That’s the second time I managed to make you laugh.”
“You’re a real idiot I see.”
“Yah! I just like your laugh, is that such a crime?”
“It probably should be. Now that you know what kind of person I am.”
“But I don’t.”
“What?”
“I don’t know what kind of person you are, I don’t know enough about you to know that, but I want to.” Changbin reached for your hand and you let him grab it. “I really want to.”
“Why?” Your voice as barely above a whisper as you tried to keep your emotions under enough control.
“Because from what you’ve shown me so far, I really like the kind of person I think you might be.”
“Again, you were literally there when I killed a person,” you felt insane to have to once again point that out to him.
“They would have killed us if you didn’t kill them,” said so matter of fact that you wondered if secretly Changbin was also involved in a gang you didn’t know about.
“The only reason you were in danger at all was because you were with me.”
“I was in danger because I couldn’t leave you alone even though you tried to drive me away and keep me safe. In hindsight, while I would probably do the same again, I should put more trust in how much absolutely kickass you are.” Changbin gave your hand a light squeeze as he spoke.
“You’re a complete idiot,” you uttered in disbelief.
“You keep saying that and at some point I’m going to take offense to it,” he complained with a pout.
“Seo Changbin, you could have died if they decided to shoot you in the face instead of punch you.”
“You know Felix never told us what exactly happened the night he called Minho hyung to pick him up,” the change in topic surprised you but you let him continue. “He said that there was a fight with some gang members and he was shaken up but nobody was hurt.” You had to snort at the simple explaination when in reality you knew that boss was ready to blow someone’s brains out if Vickie hadn’t stopped her. “I told Chan Hyung and the boys a kind of similar story you know, that there was a fight and I got punched, not the whole rundown. I didn’t want to worry him when he already was in protective leader mode over the idea of just a fight. Felix I guess knew what was up and we exchanged our real events of what happened. I won’t say that it doesn’t scare me to think of all the worst possibilities. I asked him how he got over his fear when he seemed, so happy and content around Boss and he told me that he cared for her more than he cared about the things that mader her scary. It wasn’t that he wasn’t scared but that the thought of being without her presence made him more scared so he just decided to accept everything about her. Call me an idiot or call me insane but ever since I first saw you and got to know you, I was ready to accept everything about you.”
“That doesn’t make any sense.”
“You might not even realize it but when you look at Felix and Boss you get such a soft expression on your face for just a second before you revert it back to try to be expressionless and ever since the first time I saw it I wanted to get to know you more. To know why you try not to show your feelings when I know so clearly that you want to express them. When you pretend you don’t care or don’t want to talk but you diligently listen to the things I say no matter how mundane they may be. When you want to be happy but seem scared to be happy at the same time.” It was the first time anyone has ever looked at you the way that Changbin looked at you and you didn’t know what to do with yourself. It was the first time since that incident many years ago that you felt so confused and lost.
“I don’t deserve to be happy,” you told him, already feeling the walls around your heart crumble down once again.
“Who told you something stupid like that?”
“My mother.”
“What?”
You wondered if it would be alright to tell Changbin everything. To let him see the reason that you didn’t deserve to be happy and maybe then he’d finally run away from you like he should. You felt another squeeze at your hand and you saw the look of concern on Changbin’s face.
“My mother always says that people like me and her didn’t deserve to be happy.”
“People like you and her?”
“We killed my father.” You expected Changbin to let go of your hand and move away in fear but he still held on as he patiently waited for you to explain. “I’m sure you noticed that when the police got to the scene of the crime they didn’t try to arrest me at all and instead were following my orders.” He nodded slowly.
“Again I barely remember much after the punch but I was sure that you needed to run away from the police and not order them around.”
“My father used to be chief of Seoul police. He was… a terrible man, often as cruel and as angry with me and my mother as he was with criminals.”
“He hurt you?”
“Quite often but we were expected to keep quiet about it and play the role of a perfect wife and perfect daughter at all his fancy gatherings. He always said that we needed to be happy and grateful for everything that he provided for us. One day my mother just… snapped and she told me that she needed to set us free and I needed to help her. I distracted my father and she would stab him in the back and then we would be free. Except obviously, she didn’t know what she was doing so he didn’t just die, he turned around and tried to beat her when I…I grabbed the chair and I hit him in the head, over and over again until he finally stopped moving. My mother held me and told me over and over again that we were free but we didn’t deserve to be happy.” You replayed the memory over and over in your head many times, more times than you ever wanted to, your mother grabbed onto your shaking hands covered in blood as she looked into your eyes without any expression.
“People like you and me don’t deserve to be happy, not after what we’ve done.”
“What happened after that?” You snapped out of the memory and looked at Changbin who to your surprise was still there and was still looking at you like you weren’t the monster you knew that you were.
“When the police came, mother took all responsibility for the murder, going as far to say that the reason I was covered in blood was because I tried to save my father. As they were deciding what to do about such a high profile case, I met Boss.” You couldn’t help but smile at the image of 18 year old Boss who stepped into your house with the confidence the king of the world. “She told me that she more or less knew what kind of person my father had been and the police were filled with people like him. There were enough shitty people worried about some sort of investigation that would come out of this that they might try to silence me and my mother before the case could even reach a judge. So I had two choices, work with her and try to find evidence that my father was not just a terrible father but a terrible and corrupt officer or get killed by someone as equally horrible as my father. So we searched his office and found hundreds of records of corruption, embezzlement and general shady operations of many high profile members of the police force. With that, we basically made it so that I was in charge of Seoul Police from the shadows.”
“I will kill you both and no one would know about any of this,” the deputy chief of police said as he threw all the papers you presented him across the table.
“I’d be careful with these threats if I were you buddy,” Boss said with a grin as she put her feet up on his desk,
“And what would two kids like you be able to do?” He asked with a smirk as he reached out to swat her feet off the desk but she quickly leaned forward and grabbed his hand.
“I have two men in the building across the street, one has a sniper aimed at your head ready to shoot as soon as I give the signal and the other has a walkie talkie to tell my people to hand over everything to all the major newspapers in Korea. That’s what two kids are able to,” Boss released his hand and leaned back in her chair with a larger grin.
“You’re bluffing,” he challenged as he looked between the two of you. Boss lost her smile as she raised her right hand and you saw the red dot on the window before he did. You stared a it and he turned to look at what you were staring at and then immediately let out a gasp. “Okay, okay I believe you,” he said in such a panic and you were infatuated with how much control Boss had over the grown man.
“Good,” Boss put her hand down and the dot disappeared. “Now I’m ready to talk about all the ways you’re going go give her everything she wants.”
“I didn’t realize how bad the police could be,” Changbin spoke as he looked off into the distance.
“The less you know the better you sleep at night,” you repeated something that you knew Boss had told Felix.
“But I still don’t see why you don’t deserve to be happy.”
“I killed my father and used his crimes to blackmail the higher-ups of the police force to essentially take over his position and you don’t see why I don’t deserve to be happy?”
“All I saw in that story was a scared little girl who did everything she could in order to stay alive. What you’ve been through and what you had to do in order to survive does not mean you don’t deserve to be happy, in fact, it means that the world owes you some extra happiness.”
“I don’t think the world thinks the same as you,” you commented as you wiped at the tears that were making its way down Changbin’s cheek.
“Well I don’t care what the world thinks, I decide things for myself.”
“Why are you crying?” You asked as more tears were falling from his eyes.
“It’s just not fair, for all this to happen to you, for the circumstances to be this way and for your own mother to think that you don’t deserve to be happy,” he didn’t sob loudly like other people you know but with soft gasps of air and little whimpers. You gently wrapped your arms around his wide shoulders and pulled him in so his chin was resting on your shoulder.
“Thank you for crying for me,” you said, not sure what else to say or do.  When you had expected him to run away in fear or disgust instead he cried for you and all that you had gone through. Nobody except boss and Vickie had ever cared about you so much and you weren’t sure how to convey what you felt. You rubbed gentle circles on his back hoping that he would understand all the words you wanted to say. The loud gasps of air reduced to soft sniffles as you felt his hands on your back.
“Did he make you cry?” The two of you snapped your heads up to see Vickie with a stony expression on her face.
“No, kinda the opposite,” you said as the two of you pulled apart and Changbin wiped at his face with his hands. You removed his hands and used your sleeves to clean up the remaining tears.
“Good cause I don’t know if your man here could handle taking a punch from me,” Vickie said with a wide grin at Changbin.
“Don’t worry I am not looking to get punched in the face again anytime soon,” he chuckled before giving you a soft look and you couldn’t help but look away.
“Alright alright, Boss wanted me to tell you that this smoke break is taking too damn long,” Vickie gave you an attempt at one of Boss’s glares. “Best be heading inside kiddos,” you resisted the urge to snicker at her boss impression. She went back inside as soon as she finished speaking, most likely to report back that she had fulfilled her mission.
“Let’s go back in then,” Changbin stood up rather quickly. You were about to stand when he held out a hand and you grabbed it to let him pull you up. Once you were standing he didn’t let go and instead tightened his grip. “I’m not letting go,” he looked you straight in the eyes and you knew that he was talking about more than just the hands.
“No matter what?”
“Only if from the bottom of your heart want me to.”
“You’re an idiot,” you said as you walked forward and pulled his hand for him to follow you back inside.

Pairing: boyfriend chan x gn reader
Genre: fluff, drabble, light humor
Warning: cursing, mentions of threatening messages and calls,
Summary: Just a light moment when you confess to your boyfriend why you didn’t go to him for help.
Word Count: 900ish
Authors note: this is not an accurate representation of stray kids but an interpretation based on an idea that stems from them.
Wanted to do something light for Chan’s birthday and managed to get this done as I finish up a longer piece. Happy Birthday Channie~
Tumblr media
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Chan yelled as soon as he walked in through the door. You were so surprised that you dropped your phone in panic as you looked at your boyfriend who was clearly very angry.
“Tell you what baby?” You asked cautiously as you bent to pick up your phone.
“That you’ve been getting threatening messages and phone calls,” he asked with his arms crossed and you felt your heart drop down to your stomach.
“How did you even find out about that?” You asked as you gulped nervously.
“My manager told me to pass you a list of lawyers that you had asked him for. When I told him I had no idea what he was talking about, he explained everything. You went to my manager for help but not me?” His voice went from quite loud to incredibly soft as he got in front of you and grabbed your shoulders. You realized that in your desperate need to find a solution you had forgotten to tell his manager not to tell Chan about your request.
“I was going to tell you soon,” you explained without really explaining in hopes that would be enough for Chan to drop it but of course Chan being Chan… it wasn’t.
“How soon?”
“As soon… as I dealt with it,” you finally said with a soft sigh. His hands dropped from your shoulders only to come around your back as he pulled you into a hug.
“Why not ask me for help? Or at least talk to me about it?” He let you nuzzle your face into his neck as he patted your back in a slow rhythm.
“I didn’t want to bother you while you were busy preparing for the comeback,” you grabbed at the material of his black hoodie, feeling safer than you had in weeks.
“Baby you’re never going to be a bother, come to me for anything especially if it's something scary like this.” Chan moved one hand from your back to the back of your head as he pressed your body against his with slightly more force. “I’m here to protect you yeah?”
“But I don’t want to always get protected by you, I want to be strong enough to protect you too.” You complained into his neck letting out more of your true emotions. Chan was the best boyfriend, he was busy but he made sure to be there whenever you needed him. He wasn’t always physically on your side but you knew that if you needed him, he’d be there for you through whatever you were going through. You lifted your head from his shoulder to look up at his face. “Want to protect you too,” you said with a pout that made Chan giggle.
“But look at me! I’m your big strong wolf!” He made a growly barking sound that was more cute than threatening and you laughed at him.
“Big strong wolves need protection too sometimes, I wish I could be one there for you instead of you being here for me all the time.”
“But you are there for me baby, whenever I can’t sleep and you make yourself stay up to keep me company when I missed my mom’s curry and you called her up to ask for the recipe.”
“Those are such small things though,” you complained while Chan leaned in to give you a peck on the lips.
“They mean the world to me. With you, I know that whenever I’ve had a good or bad day, I can come to you and you’d be there to listen to me and make my day better.” Chan leaned in again and this time he gave you a much longer kiss. He lightly nipped at your lips before pulling away. “That’s why always come to me first yeah?” He asked in a pretend stern way and you nodded.
“Alright Channie,” you said, and almost on cue before you could say more, your phone rang. You moved to check who it was even though already had your suspicions and you cursed them for ruining the moment. It was an unregistered number on your phone, not one that you were familiar with but you knew exactly who it was.
“The person who's been threatening you?” Chan asked when he noticed your reluctance to pick up the phone.
“Yeah no matter how many numbers I block they always seem to have a new one,” you complained as you showed him the number on your screen. Chan gently took the phone from you with a grim expression and he pressed to answer.
“Listen here you fucker, I don’t know who you are but if you don’t stop harassing my girlfriend I will personally make sure to give you as much distress as you have given to her,” he spoke harshly before he hung up and handed you back your phone.
“That was kinda hot of you,” you said as you slipped your phone into your pocket.
“Guess I’m your big strong hot wolf then,” he said with a grin as he pulled you closer again.
“Didn’t know you were such a furry.”
“What- that- I didn’t mean it like that!” Chan exclaimed as you laughed out loud.
“I love you my big wolf,” you said as you hugged him.
“I love you too,” he hugged you back and you felt that no matter what happened, as long as the two of you were in each other’s arms, things would be alright.
“But I’m not a furry,” he started tickling your sides, ruining the moment as you started giggling hysterically while trying to get him to stop.
Things would be more than alright.

Curses and Blessings
Pairing: idol chan x reader
Genre: Drabble, slightly spicy, best friend seonghwa, forward chan,
Warning: anxious reader? Curse words, reader wants to fuck chan that's the whole story lol, indecent thoughts
Summary: You’re backstage reading the script with Chan but you can only really focus on wanting to fuck him. You really gotta be a professional and keep your feelings to yourself but can you really?
Word Count: 1k
Authors note: this is not an accurate representation of stray kids but an interpretation based on an idea that stems from them.
Just a short thought I had while working on some longer stories lol, enjoy. If any good smut writers want to take this and write a smut for it be my guest.
Tumblr media
You cursed every single star in existence for everything that was happening at this exact moment. For the fact that you were invited as one of the hosts for this award ceremony, the fact that your cohost was Bangchan of Stray Kids, the fact that the two of you were the only ones in the waiting room at the moment, the fact that he was so handsome in just a black hoodie and black shorts as he read over his notes, the fact that you had neglected to bring a jacket and the ac for all of backstage was on super high and the fact that Bangchan was not just super handsome, he was a gentleman that noticed your obvious discomfort.
“You sure you don’t want my hoodie?” He asked for the third time as you failed to cover up another obvious shiver.
“No I’m fine,” you flashed him as professional a smile as you could. You needed to be professional because you could not reveal what you wanted to do indecent things with the man ever since you happened to watch the Wolfgang performance on Kingdom. You had a thing for strong arms and wonderful abs and the fact that he was such a nice gentleman? Perfect combo known as your ideal type. But you were here in a professional setting not here to tell him that you wanted him to fuck your brains out. You thanked your amazing willpower for only thinking about how much you wanted him to bend you over the table a few times.
“It really would be no bother, I’m a bit hot anyway,” he began unzipping his hoodie but you quickly held your hand up.
“No really I’m perfectly fine BangChan-sshi,” you were barely holding yourself together as it was, how on earth would you survive if he was wearing short sleeves? How would you hold yourself together if you were surrouned by his scent when already the few sniffs you had gotten when you two stood close had you squeezing your thighs together?
“You can just call me Chan or Chris comfortably,” he told you for the second time that night. The first you had semi-ignored with a smile and a nod.
“I’d prefer Bangchan-sshi if that’s alright,” you said and you regretted it the moment you noticed the frown on his face.
“Did I do something to make you uncomfortable?”
“No, not at all!”
“You just seem to jump every time I move even a little bit and you’re obviously freezing but won’t take a hoodie. If I make you uncomfortable I can go get a manager or a member of staff to sit with us?” It broke your heart for him to think that he was the problem so the next words out your mouth were….not your best.
“I‘ve been holding myself back from telling you that I want to fuck you since you’ve walked in so, of course, I can’t take your hoodie,” you blurted out before you quickly stood up. His mouth was wide open in an oh shape and you felt sick to your stomach about how he probably thought about you. “Excuse me,” you squeaked out as you ran out of the room as fast as you could.
You had no idea where you were going but you just needed to not be in front of Chan as he processed what you just told him. Luckily, you spotted your best friend Seonghwa in the hallway on his phone.
“Hwa!” You cried out and he turned his head up and immediately opened his arms for you to dive in.
“What happened to you?” He asked as he patted you on the back.
“Just fucked up majorly,” you whimpered into his chest and you felt him push you slightly off to look at your face. You felt how hot your face was and could only imagine how red you were.
“Mess up a line?” He asked, confusion clear in his voice.
“So much worse,” you cringed as you thought about what you said.
“Finally told Bangchan you want to fuck him?” The look on your face must have given the answer away as he then gasped and said, “no way!” You told Seonghwa everything, including your little issue of self control over thoughts of Bangchan and while it was embarrasing that he knew, at least you wouldn’t have to explain yourself.
“He thought he made me uncomfy so I kinda just blurted out I wanted to fuck him,” you once again dived into Hwa’s chest.
“And what did he say back?”
“Nothing, he just stared at me with his mouth open like I was crazy. How the fuck am I supposed to face him let alone host with him?” You wanted the ground to just open up and swallow you whole. Already in your brain, you were forming plans to maybe break your leg and get out of hosting when Hwa suddenly got very stiff.
“You're going to have to think of something pretty quick,” he whispered in your ear.
“Why?” You asked in a whisper not quite sure why you both were suddenly whispering.
“He’s walking down the hall clearly looking for you,” Hwa whispered back and now it was your turn to stiffen up.
“Hide me before he sees me!” You whisper shouted in panic.
“Little too late for that.”
“Hi Seonghwa,” you heard Chan say almost directly behind you. You still had your head in Hwa’s chest and couldn’t bring yourself to move to face Chan.
“Hi Chan Hyung,” you heard Hwa say with what you imagined as a strained grin on his face.
“We need to get back to the dressing room to practice our lines,” Chan said simply and you were scared to pull away from Hwa but at the end of the day, you had your professional duties to attend to.
“Alright,” you said as you loosened your grip around Hwa and stared down at the floor to see Chan’s boots. Something black was thrust towards you and you looked to see that it was Chan holding up his hoodie.
“Take the hoodie, it's quite chilly,” he said while you just stared at the article of clothing with confusion. With a sigh, Chan moved to place the hoodie over your shoulders and the warm vanilla scent enveloped your body. He then started pushing you from behind as he let out a cheerful, “bye Seonghwa, good luck on the performance later!”  And you heard Hwa let out a very confused “bye” back.
Chan had essentially pushed you back into the waiting room before your brain managed to restart and you hastily jumped a little bit away from him. The scent that surrounded your body made you a bit dizzy in the best way possible but the situation itself was more dizzying.
“Bangchan-sshi, the hoodie, I- what I said earlier,” you stammered to form complete sentences while Chan chuckled and closed the door. You finally looked at his face and he had such a wide grin on his face as he moved closer to you while you moved back.
Your back hit the wall and he placed his hands on the wall on either side of you and trapped you in position.
“You don’t have to explain anything as long as you just tell me what you want,” he said as he leaned close enough for you to feel his breath on your face.
“What I want?”
“Yeah, what have you wanted to do since I walked in the door?”
“I wanted to fuck you,” you answered honestly mostly from the shock. Chan let out a laugh as he leaned in closer so that his lips ghosted over your ear.
“Good because thats what I want too.”

Torrential Rain
Pairing: Idol Felix x Bar Owner Reader
Genre: kinda mafia au, mature, strangers to kinda lovers, a little bit fluff
Warning: cursing, drinking, mafia themes, guns, mentions of murder, the reader is pretty morally gray, reader gets cursed at, violence, protective stray kids lol, Chan goes missing Felix panic mode, Felix gets called Kiddo (playfully), reader is older than felix but not specified by how much. Going by korean drinking age not US drinking age.
Summary: Story 1 in Good Boys Like Bad Girl Series “It’s not good for Felix to be with you.” “I agree so could you convince him to stop coming around?” “What?”
Word Count: 7.5k
Authors note: this is not an accurate representation of stray kids but an interpretation based on an idea that stems from them.
I feel like we talk about bad boy au skz a lot but what about bad girl au? Felix’s story was the first to come into mind as he’s just so…good you know?
Tumblr media
He sat down on the barstool and you could already tell that it was probably his first time in a bar like yours. He glanced around seemingly mesmerized by all the different lights that the place had going on. He had a kindness and brightness on his face that you weren’t used to seeing and you wondered why on earth he had chosen your particular establishment. He moved around on the seat a bit and then winced just slightly and you observed the hollowness in his eyes that followed. He glanced back at where everyone was gathered around the pool table and then glanced back at the lights, seemingly looking at them and through them. You frowned before you shook your head and walked over, if he wanted to tell you about what he had going on he probably would.
“What can I get you?” You asked and it seemed to startle him to realize that you were in front of him on the other side of the bar. He glanced at the tattoos on your arm before he glanced at your face and gave you a smile that made you again think that he did not belong here.
“Is there a menu?” He asked you politely and you had to hold everything in not to snort aloud, thankful that none of your usuals were seated close enough to hear him.
“At a place like this? No, just tell me what you want to drink and I’ll try to make it for you,” you said as you leaned over at the bar to get a closer look at him. His face was filled with freckles that gave him a very unique youthful look. He was dressed in a leather jacket with a black shirt underneath and you were glad that at least he tried to dress the part to fit in even if a little too fancy for your establishment. His nose scrunched up like a rabbit as he seemed to think about what he wanted to drink.
Finally, he just sighed and then asked, “could I have a glass of whisky?”
“Yeah sure thing kiddo, what kind?” You couldn’t help but want to tease him now that you were 100% sure he had no idea what he was doing. He looked away at your comment before he glanced back at you with a defeated look.
“I’m not sure,” he said after a beat.
“I’ll start you off with a glass of Jack?” You suggested out of what was left of the kindness of your heart.
“That sounds good,” he said with a quick nod, relieved that you decided to just suggest something to him.
You poured some Jack into two whisky glasses with a large square ice cube and placed one in front of him and held the other in your hand. You drank yours after you tilted your glass at him in a sort of mock cheers signal. He looked at his glass for a few moments before he brought it to his lips (rather cute pink lips) and took a sip. He immediately made a face of displeasure and put it down. You couldn’t help the laugh that left your mouth. You knew that Lexi was probably looking in from the other end of the bar when you heard a faint giggle from that side.
“First time trying whisky huh?” You asked as you reached under the table.
“Guess it is kind of obvious,” he said with a self-deprecating laugh.
“All alcoholics gotta start somewhere,”  you brought up a can of coke and waved it at him. “Wanna mellow it out?” You asked and he gave you a much more eager nod. You topped off his glass with coke and stuck a little straw in the glass to give it a quick mix. “Should be more palatable for ya,” you said as you pushed the drink toward him again.
He gave it a little kitten lick this time before he took a sip. He still made a face but took another sip.
“So what brought about this terrible life decision to try drinking whisky in a place like this?” You asked just as a shout rang out from the other side of the room, you glanced over to see that no one seemed to be throwing punches. Your eyes met Vickie’s and she gave you a thumbs up to signal that everything was still okay. She turned back toward the boy in front of you.
He had his brows furrowed as he seemed to think hard about the question you asked him. A little too hard for your taste so you poked at the middle of his forehead and he looked at you in confused shock.
“Don’t think so hard about it, just tell me about what brought you here, it ain't rocket science kiddo,” you teased in hopes that he would lighten up because you could already tell that he needed it.
“I just… wanted … needed… a change of pace?” He clearly phrased it like a question unsure of himself.
“ Got scorned by a lover?” You supplied and he let out a laugh that sounded quite hollow.
“No, nothing like that. I haven’t dated in a long time,” he said as he took another sip of his drink.
“Look this really isn’t really the best place to come if you're looking to date or to get laid, the girls here would eat you alive,” you warned semi-seriously with a grin on your face. He was handsome enough to get any of the girls to take him home for the night but you knew the usual crowd and those girls would probably break him. They weren’t here for romance, they were here to find a quick lay and to forget about everything else in the world.
“Noted,” he said rather good naturally as he glanced around. You already could feel yourself develop a soft spot for how well he was taking your humor.
“Something to do with work then?” You asked as you mixed up another drink for someone further down the bar. When you came back to him he looked like a kicked puppy and you knew that it was probably something work-related that drove him here.
“I really messed up something at my job,” he said once he saw that he had your attention again.
“Told your boss to go fuck himself?” You supplied, only half joking as you knew a few people that came to drink for that reason.
“No, I actually like my boss. I hurt my back…and that messes things up for everyone else on the team.” He stared hard at a spot on the table and you made sense of why he winced earlier.
“They gotta handle your workload now?”
“Yeah, and they have to figure out new routines for my position.” He took another big gulp of his drink, now used to the taste of the whisky. “And it's the first time that we would get to see our fans after such a long time, I ruined it,” he lamented, the alcohol already loosening his lips.
“You a big shot or something?” You asked at the mention of fans.
“Oh shit, I’m not supposed to talk about that,” he said with widened eyes as he realized what he said.
“Don’t worry your secret is safe with me mister superstar,” it didn’t surprise you that he was a celebrity of some sort, he had a face for it.
“Promise?” he asked as he held out his pinky finger, a light pink dusting his cheek. You shook your head but hooked your pinky over his.
“Promise,” you said as the two of you linked pinkies and pressed your thumbs together. “Now finish telling me what a big superstar like you is doing here.”
“Well, because I hurt my back, the members they have to rearrange everything but they keep telling me to not worry about it or that I shouldn’t let it bother me when they have to do so much extra work because of me. They smile but I know how tired they are and how they should be angry at me.”
“Careful there buddy,” you let out a low whistle at what he was saying and he looked at you with confusion and slightly glazed eyes. “Self-depreciation doesn’t look as good on you as you might think,” you said as you moved away to top up some drinks for the others sitting at the bar. You checked to see that Lexi was handling everything alright on her end. When you came back you were met with a very large frown on his face.
“You’re not very nice are you?” He asked with a pout.
“Never claimed to be, never will,” you replied back with your best customer service smile. “Look, kiddo, you’re upset because nobody is blaming you for getting injured? That doesn’t make any sense now, does it? Wasn’t like you went out and got injured on purpose? Unless you're a masochist like that?”
“Wha- no of course not,” he looked so scandalized at your suggestion that you couldn’t help but giggle at him.
“So if they did blame you for getting hurt on accident they would be huge assholes, want another drink?” You gestured at his empty glass.
“Yes please,” you took his glass as he sat and seemed to silently ponder what you said. You placed another Jack and coke in front of him before seeing Jacie walk over. You moved toward one of the more empty seats slightly away from the boy.
“What’s the story with him over there?” Jacie asked as you handed her the usual vodka and orange juice. She glanced over that at the boy you were talking to and clearly eyed him up and down.
“I’m going to stop you right there girl, he’s already hurt his back, and wouldn’t be able to handle whatever new position you want to try,” you told her as you made a shooing motion with your hand.
“Too bad,” Jacie said with a dramatic sigh before she walked away back to the pool table eyes already set on a tall man with a broad back.
When you went back to the boy, he was staring deeply at his drink. “If you stare at it any harder, it might start to stare back at you,” you joked as you wiped a couple of glasses down.
“Why do people like drinking?” He asked you rather suddenly.
“To feel something or to forget something,” you replied as you thought of a couple of your regulars. “There are all types of drinkers but the ones that do it the most often have their demons. Hope I don’t see you around too often kiddo,” you were honest in hoping that he’d deal with his issues and not have to turn to drink here again. He didn’t fit in and you hoped that he never would.
“Why do you call me kiddo? You don’t even know my age.”
“I call a lot of people kiddo,” you shrugged, “besides you look like a kiddo,” you teased as you pointed at his face.
“I’m 21!” He cried out as he scrunched his nose at your finger.
“Hmm, a little older than I thought but still in my eyes, you look like a kiddo figuring out the world. It’s not a bad thing, better to be a kiddo than a dead souled adult in my eyes.”
“I guess you’re right about that,” he mumbled as he took another sip. “I’ll never understand how anyone can drink this straight,” he confessed with a sigh.
“We’re dead on the inside,” you told him as you went down the bar to serve another group that showed up. You ended up giving the boy one last drink before you had to deal with an incident at the pool table with Vickie, once you were done kicking one unruly gentleman (cue eye roll) out you went back to the bar only to see that the boy was asleep. He looked peaceful with his body leaned over the bar and his head on his arms. You shook your head at the thought that anyone could fall asleep like that after three jack and cokes but you let him sleep undisturbed.
You were wondering what to do as the last few guests started leaving and you cleaned things up. It had been two hours since the boy fell asleep and you shook him a little bit to no reaction. Just as you were considering moving him to one of the booths, a song started playing from his pocket. You reached in and pulled out a phone with the name Lee Know Hyung followed by a cat emoji as the caller ID. You looked again at the boy who did not react at all to the loud ringtone and answered the call.
“YAH FELIX! What time is it? Why are you still not back at the dorm?” An angry loud voice came from the other end and you moved the phone away from your ear with a grimace.
“Hey, this is the bartender at Ace Bar, your friend Felix? He’s asleep and it’s time for me to go home so you want to give me an address or do you want to come to pick him up?”
“He’s asleep? At a bar?” You heard someone ask a question in the background and a hushed whisper of some kind.
“Yep, asleep like a baby.”
“Ace bar you said? I’ll be over in 10 minutes, could you watch over him until then?”
“Yep, no problem.”
Almost exactly ten minutes later, two men walked, one introduced himself as Minho (the voice of the man who had spoken to you over the phone) and the other as Seungmin. They were clearly surprised to see Felix asleep on a barstool even though that's exactly what you told them had happened.
“Careful with his back,” you told the boys as they started to lift Felix onto Minho’s back. Minho looked up at you with wide eyes.
“What did he tell you?” He asked as he exchanged a nervous glance with Seungmin who was biting his bottom lip.
“Enough to know that he’s got a bad back and one of you should probably be around if he decides to try drinking again,” was all you said and that seemed to get enough information across as Minho nodded at you slowly.
“Noted,” he said as they got Felix onto his back and they walked out, Felix still soundly asleep as you watched them carry him to a car parked outside.
“You think he’ll be back?” Lexi asked, she had found it absolutely adorable that Felix had fallen asleep so soundly (of course that was something she would never say out loud).
“Hope not, this place doesn’t suit a kiddo like that,” you said as you went back to cleaning everything up.
You were talking to a regular at the bar two days later when you looked up and saw Felix walk in. He was in the same black leather jacket but he has swapped the black shirt for a white top. He looked better in white. He gave you a shy smile as he sat down in the same seat as last time.
“I’m surprised your back, even more surprised that they let you come back alone,” you said with a raised eyebrow.
“I wanted to come back and thank you, for all that happened. I did promise the Hyungs that I wouldn’t drink tonight,” he scratched at the back of his neck with clear embarrassment.
“No need for any thanks kiddo, you were one of the most peaceful customers we get around here,” cue rather loud cheer that came from the other end of the bar. You looked over to see Jacie kissing someone that she as she sat in their lap. Nothing to worry about.
“I realized that I never ended up paying,” he started to dig through the bag at this side but you held up your hand.
“Don’t worry about it, I can afford to treat a kiddo to a drink or two.”
“You sure?”
“Yep don’t worry about it,” you waved him off as you refilled the drink of someone sitting further down. When you turned around you had expected Felix to be gone but he was still sitting there.
“You still need something?”
“Could I get a regular coke?” He had a light pink dusting across his freckles.
“You want to sit here and drink a regular coke?”
“I wanted to talk more with you,” he admitted not quite looking in your eyes. You let out a laugh and reached out to pat him on the head. He let out a sound that sounded like a squeak but made no move to stop you.
“You’re a sweetie aren’t ya,” you said as you poured him a glass of coke with ice. You knew that you should have probably told him to go home but it was one of your slower nights so you saw no harm in letting him stay a bit.
He spent the night telling you bits and pieces about his life. How when he woke up the next morning Chan (who was like an older brother to him) had given him the longest scolding of his life. “I swear I was going to have to start calling him dad if he brought up how disappointed he was in me one more time.” They talked about how he felt about his back injury and the two of them cried and hugged it out. Then they talked to the other members and everyone except Minho cried.
“So seven of you guys just sitting in a room and crying?” You asked as you tried to imagine the scene and the cat-faced man just in the corner stoically watching everything.
“We’re a pretty emotional group,” Felix admitted as he thought about it.
“Nothing wrong with healthily expressing some emotions,” you sneaked a glance over at Lexi who thankfully did not hear your words.
He told you how excited he was to finally be performing in front of his fans even though he couldn’t perform to his best abilities because of his back.
“Just sing your heart out then.”
“I will,” he said with so much certainty that you believed he would give everything his all. You reached over to pet him on the head again and you swore that you felt him lean into your hand.
“Hey boss a shot for me and the boys,” Danny one of your regulars said as he and his group of men arrived at the bar. Danny stood at about six feet dressed in a suit that stretched tight over his muscles. He had a knife scar on the side of his face that he claimed gave him character.
“Danny you son of a bitch I thought you died,” you reached over to give him a one-armed hug over the bar as he sat next to Felix. The four men in his group just stood around him as they gave you a light bow.
“Pretty close to it this time honestly, those sons of bitches from Busan jumped us and got me right in the chest.” You shook your head as you passed out five shots of vodka.
“I swear you're now as full of holes as swiss cheese,” you said with a little laugh.
“You were shot?” Felix said in shock and honestly, you had almost forgotten he was there in your excitement to see Danny. You saw Danny eyeing Felix up and down as he was observing whether the boy was being serious.
“What never heard of someone getting shot before?” Danny asked as he took his shot with the rest of his boys. He then raised a hand and they left, some headed to Lexi’s section and some went over to the pool tables.
“Honestly no,” Felix looked between Danny and you in pure confusion on how the two of you weren’t as worked up about it as he was. Danny looked at you with a raised eyebrow.
“Don’t freak the kiddo out with your jokes Danny, he’s a good kid,” you emphasized the good and something clicked in Danny’s head as he nodded.
“Yeah ha ha it was a joke,” Danny had the stiffest laugh you had ever heard and you knew that there was no way it was convincing but Felix just nodded in response. You handed Danny another shot of vodka to help this awkwardness pass.
“I’m going to go see if Jacie is up for some fun,” Danny said as he stood up after shooting down the shot.
“Just no fucking indoors,” you half scolded.
“I know, that's what the back alleyway is for,” Danny responded with a laugh and a wave back at you.
“You alright kiddo?” You asked Felix who was looking down at his drink.
“He wasn’t really joking was he?”
“I’d honestly rather you believe that he was.” You told him sincerely as you reached out to tap his hand. “Probably would help you sleep better at night.” He finally looked at you and you gave him a smile.
“And he called you boss?” You snorted at that question.
“A lot of people call me boss, it's more of a nickname than a title at this point,” you purposely didn’t reveal too much detail about why exactly Danny and everyone else called you boss. Again some things were better left unsaid for the sake of Felix sleeping better at night.
“I see,” Felix said as he nodded again.
“It’s pretty late and you got practice tomorrow, right? Think it's about time you head home,” you patted him gently on the head again as he nodded.
“Yeah, I didn’t realize how late it had gotten,” he pulled out his phone and grimaced at the time. “How much?” You shook your head at him again.
“I’m not charging you for a coke, now run along,” You shooed him off and watched as him until he was out the door.
A week later Vickie knocked on the door to your back office as you were scanning through all the paperwork. You stood up in haste sure that something was wrong for her to need to find you but you saw the shit-eating grin on her face.
“What?” You asked as you crossed your arms.
“Your puppy is here and asking for you,” she sing sang as she walked over to grab your arm.
“Puppy?” You asked as you let her drag you out of your office toward the bar.
“Yep, he’s back and actually asked Lexi if you were around.” Vickie pointed and you saw Felix and Lexi engaged in what seemed like a very serious staring contest. Today Felix had ditched his leather jacket in favor of a black hoodie that looked incredibly soft and large on his frame.
“I honestly didn’t think he’d be back,” you half whispered as you headed over to save the poor kid from Lexi’s stare. When you got closer Felix spotted you and he had such a wide grin that it reminded you of a golden retriever. You let yourself behind the bar and gave Lexi a pat on the back.
“If you wanted to pet him you could just ask,” you whispered low enough so that only Lexi could hear. She shot you a glare before walking away.
“Is she mad at me?” Felix asked as you finally turned toward him.
“Nope that’s just how Lexi is sometimes,” was all the explanation you could offer. “So what brings you back this time?”
“Well we had our fan meeting yesterday and I wanted to tell you about it if you're not busy?”
“I’m not busy but shouldn’t you be out with your boys celebrating or something? Instead of talking with little ole me.”
“We went out for meat at noon. And I really wanted to come to talk to you this whole week and now finally have the time.” He looked at you with such earnestness that you felt your heart melt a little. Whatever attachment he had with you surely couldn’t be healthy but you also didn’t have the heart to turn him away.
“Alright but this time I’m not letting you stay as long, it ain’t safe for a cute kiddo like you to be out so late,” you poured him a coke and slid it in front of him.
“You think I’m cute?” It came out of him less like words and more like a series of chirps.
“Absolutely adorable,” you poked at his nose and he let out another chirp.
Once he got over his mental at you calling him cute, he proceeded to tell you everything about what happened at the fanmeeting. He had to sit at the side but the Hyungs made sure to come over and cheer him up when he was upset about it and he enjoyed seeing all his fans in person again.
“It was like a dream,” he said with a starry look in his eyes that you couldn’t help but admire.
You shooed him away after an hour so that he wouldn’t be out as late.
“Can I come back tomorrow then?” He asked with the biggest puppy dog look on his face and you again didn’t have the heart to tell him no.
“I swear superstars were supposed to be super busy or something,” you teased after Felix walked in again. He had been coming in every night for two straight weeks. In fact, even some of the regulars were starting to notice him and came over to chat or say hi. You had warned a couple of peeps that he was a good kid and they usually were on their best behavior when he was around. He even managed to get a smile from Lexi which was almost a miracle in your book.
“We were given a little bit of a break, anyway I’m supposed to be resting my back,” he said with a shrug.
“I don’t think the doc meant sitting at a bar every night as a form of resting.”
“It’s resting when I’m with you.”
“Careful kiddo, any slicker and I’d think you were flirting with me,” you told him expecting him to blush but instead he looked straight at you rather seriously.
“And if I were flirting with you?”
“I’d question if you needed to get your head checked instead of your back,” you replied calmly to try and call his bluff.
“I’m being serious!” He whined as he reached for your hand. You let him take it and he started playing with your fingers. “I like talking to you and I like the way you treat me,” he confessed as he looked into your eyes.
“Kiddo this ain’t-” you didn’t get to finish your sentence before there was a shout by the pool tables. Vickie had her hand raised which was a sign you needed to get over. You jerked your hand outta Felix’s hands and jumped over the bar to get to where the growing shouts were. You saw one man already on the floor with a nasty bruise already forming on his face. Vickie was already fighting another dude while there were three groups shouting and fighting with each other.
“What the fuck is going on?” You shouted and most of the men stopped what they were doing as they turned to look at you. You saw a few people move to the back as they bowed to you while some others you didn’t recognize looked around in surprise. “I asked what the fuck is going on,” you repeated and you saw Vickie drop the collar of the man she was fighting to make her way over to you. Before she could get over and explain, a taller man walked right up to you as he sneered down at you.
“Why is a bitch like you acting like the boss of this place?” He asked as he got in your face and you heard a couple of gasps that went around. He must be new to the scene, you thought, or incredibly stupid. “What? You all pussies scared of this woman?” He laughed as he looked around at the nervous faces that surrounded him. You saw Vickie start to walk toward the man but you held up a hand to stop her, you were honestly amused at this person’s inability to read the situation.
“Who are you associated with?” You asked calmly as you were planning out who to send his body to.
“What?” He asked as he seemed surprised that you weren’t cowering in front of him.
“I asked who you were associated with or are you just some hooligan without any backing?” You purposely were fucking with him to get him more riled up.
“Listen here you bitch, my brother basically runs things in Busan so I suggest you watch how the fuck you’re talking to me.” He growled in your face as you wondered if you could get Danny to help you with shipping his body. The idiot seemed more angered at your silence than anything and tried to grab you but you were much quicker. You grabbed at his throat and pushed hard enough so that he was on the floor on his ass. One of his goons moved forward to try and help but they were held back by the other men in the room as they moved to make sure no one else could approach you. You looked up at them as the man on the floor was clawing at your arm.
“If any of you want to live through this, I suggest you behave and stay right where you are,” you didn’t want too much blood spilled in the bar, after all, it was a mess to clean up.
One brave soul was about to try and step up but he was kicked by the person next to him who seemed to realize the situation they were in. The one smart person from Busan you thought as you turned your attention back to the idiot on the floor who was turning purple. You let go and he completely dropped as he squirmed like a dying fish on the floor.
“You bitch! My brother is going to kill you!” He screamed in between coughing fits. A few people around laughed at that and you only smiled.
“That’s a direct threat then?” You asked as you squatted down to look at the pathetic man on the ground.
“It’s more than a threat, once my brother finds out-”
“I hope he finds out quickly then, I’ll make sure to send him your body with express shipping.” There was a look of horror that flashed across his face as he realized how serious you were. He tried to scramble away but you grabbed him by the hair and he let out a scream.
“Gun?” You reached out your other hand expecting one of the men to give you their gun but instead was met with Vickie grabbing your hand. You looked up in annoyance, “what?”
“The puppy,” she leaned in to whisper and that’s when you remembered that Felix had been sitting by the bar. You looked over and he was standing close by with his eyes wide at the scene in front of him. As much as you wanted to shoot the idiot's brains out you knew that you couldn’t do it in front of Felix. You let go of his hair and stood up with a sigh, “someone bring him out back and call Danny, he has some unsettled debts with Busan to take care of anyway. Make sure one of you tells him that I send my regards to this idiot’s brother. As for the rest of you all,” you turned to face some of your regulars who flinched at your attention. “Settle whatever the fuck you need to settle outside,” with that almost everyone else sprang into action. They dragged the idiot and his goons out the door as you saw someone on the phone with what was probably Danny. Vickie gleefully followed the ones that had the goons in tow in what you guessed was an attempt to get a piece of the action. Everyone else moved back to doing what they were before the ruckus rang out. Everyone except Felix who was still stood in place like he had grown roots there. You walked over and tried to reach out a hand but he flinched and took a step back. You expected that but you didn’t expect to feel as hurt as you did. You sighed and took a step back as you gestured toward the bar.
“Go back to the bar and calls someone to pick you up, I don’t want you walking back alone  in shock.” You spoke as softly as you could before you walked away and hoped that he would at least listen to you. You told Lexi to keep an eye on him before you retreated to the backrooms for the night.
You wondered if it was your fault for underestimating Felix when you were surprised to see him turn up the next night. It was clear that he hadn’t slept well but gave you a light smile as he walked over to the bar.
“Hi,” he said quietly as he sat down on the barstool across from you, people had been calling it his spot and it only hit you then how empty the space had been without him.
“Hey kiddo, you get home alright?”
“Yeah Minho Hyung came to pick me up,” he fell silent and for once neither of you were sure what to say. Well, you knew what you needed to say but you didn’t know if you could.
“Felix I think-” he cut you off before you could finish.
“Could I get a coke please?”
“Felix…”
“Please?”
“Alright, kiddo,” perhaps you gave in too easily, perhaps you liked him more than you would admit. Perhaps things would be alright?
Of course, life wasn’t that easy when the next day someone you recognized as Minho walked into the bar instead of Felix. He looked around before he saw you and walked straight toward you with purpose in his eyes.
“We need to talk,” he said and you weren’t yet sure what Felix had told him but you had to applaud him since men twice his size wouldn’t have dared to just approach you like that. You saw Vickie start to head toward you but you waved her off assuring her that you were fine.
“Let’s head to the back then,” you saw his gaze waver just a tiny bit but he still nodded. You walked out from behind the bar after telling Lexi and walked Minho to your office in the backrooms. You gestured for him to take a seat on the couch while you sat at your desk.
He glanced around the plain decor before he carefully sat down. Like a cat in enemy territory, you noted and could almost imagine the bristling fur on him.
“What did you want to talk about?” You asked as you leaned forward on your desk.
“It’s not good for Felix to be with you.” “I agree so could you convince him to stop coming around?”
“What?” He clearly looked surprised at your question as he was prepared for you to argue with him.
“Look, I understand better than you probably why Felix shouldn’t be around me but I… I don’t have what it takes to turn him away. So if you could do it, that would be great.”
“You really like him,” Minho spoke with some uncertainty like he was asking you a question.
“He’s a bit like sunshine in a place where there’s always usually rain,” you explained and he nodded like he suddenly completely understood.
The two of you reached an agreement and when he left your office, you leaned back in your chair and closed your eyes. Letting go was harder than you thought but at least it was for a good cause.
“What did Minho tell you?” Felix yelled as he entered the bar and it was the first time you ever heard him raise his voice. Everyone looked over and then just turned back to what they were doing when they saw it was Felix. He walked right up to the bar and you saw the hurt in his eyes.
“What makes you think he told me anything?” You asked keeping your expression as neutral as possible.
“Because he told me that he spoke to you and you didn’t want to see me anymore,” there was hurt thick in his voice and he looked like he was about a few words away from crying.
“Let’s talk somewhere more private,” you suggested as Felix wiped at his eyes. It felt weird deja vu situation as you now led Felix to your office just a day after leading Minho. He sat on the couch and you chose to sit beside him instead of at your desk. You wanted to be gentle with him because at the end of the day the last thing you wanted was to hurt him in any way.
“We just agreed that it would be best for you not hang around me or come here anymore,” you explained as you gently patted him on the back. A part of you was much too relieved that he didn’t flinch at your touch.
“And why do you two get to make that decision for me?” He asked as the tears finally fell down his eyes.
“For your safety kiddo, you saw what happened that night,” you reminded him gently.
“But I wasn’t hurt and he provoked you first,” Felix argued as he quite angrily wiped at his eyes and you couldn’t help but let out a laugh.
“You almost watched me kill a man and you’re here tell me that it was okay because he provoked me first?”
“Would you really have killed him?”
“Yes.” You answered without hesitation because you had been planning exactly that.
“Why didn’t you?”
“Because Vickie reminded me that you were there, but that’s not the important part kiddo, the important is that’s my world. That’s not your world and I rather keep things that way,” you grabbed a tissue to wipe at the tears that fell down his face.
“I really like you.”
“You have terrible taste,” you proclaimed as you rubbed his head.
“What are you going to do if I refuse to stop coming here?”
“I could just ban you from the store.”
“But you won’t.”
“How are you so sure of that?”
“Because you like me too,” it was your turn to be shocked but he smiled at you sweetly as you made no move to argue with him,
“I mean Minho was supposed to keep you from coming but I see he failed that mission.”
“I sneaked out when he was taking bath,” Felix looked so proud of himself, and you couldn’t help but pinch his nose. He wiggled his face around and then buried his head into your shoulder. “I’m not going to stop seeing you.”
“Felix,” you tried to pull him away but he clung onto you as tight as a koala.
“I’m not letting go until you agree to let me keep seeing you,” you mumbled into your shoulder. It would have been easy to push him off but you weren’t going to and you felt like he knew that.
“Scary shit is going to happen around me.”
“I won’t say it’s not scary but I would rather be scared and with you than not scared without you,” and at that, you knew that this was a losing game. You wrapped your arm around his shoulder and gave him a light kiss on the head.
“Looks like I’m stuck with you then,” you fake huffed as you heard him giggle into your shoulder.
“Boss,” you both looked toward the door to see Lexi standing there with a grim expression on her face.
“What’s up?” You asked confused that it wasn’t Vickie who came to get you.
“His friends,” she pointed at Felix, “are here,” she then pointed in the direction of the bar.
“Guess he finished his bath,” you joked as the two of you got up. Felix slipped his hand into yours as he gave you a nervous expression. “Where’s Vickie?” You asked as the three of you headed out of your office.
“She’s got on of in a headlock,” Lexi answered.
“What?” Felix shouted as you walked faster.
“They came in screaming about where’s Felix, she told them you were in the back and one of them yelled at her to get you out right now.” Lexi filled in as you came out to the bar area. You made a mental note to ask how his group was so brave later. The scene you saw would have made you laugh if you didn’t feel the tight grip Felix had on your hand.
Vickie had her arms around the neck of a pretty muscular young man who was struggling but to your relief looked like he was still able to breathe. Vickie had a lazy smile on her face and you were glad to see that she wasn’t actually mad. If she were then even you would have a hard time controlling her. Minho was holding back an even more muscular man who was shouting things you couldn’t hear clearly and by their side was a very handsome man who stood frozen in fear and shock.
“Chan Hyung,” Felix said as he tried to run forward but you pulled him back.
“Let me handle this,” you told him as you let go of his hand and marched forward. There was a group of men at the side clearly ready to jump in if needed but they stood back and watched with relief as you walked forward.
“Hi boss, this dude wants to talk to you,” Vickie said cheerfully as she was the first to spot you.
The boys turned to look at you with varying expressions. Minho looked apologetic, the man he was holding back stopped trying to get out of his grip but looked toward you with suspicion and the scared man looked even more scared. The one being held by Vickie looked at you with what you identified as anger and you once again had to applaud him for his courage.
You pushed Felix toward the other boys before turning again to Vickie who looked like she was having way too much fun.
“Why don’t you let the poor thing go so he can talk then,” you said and Vickie dropped him almost immediately as she skipped over to stand by you. Chan rubbed at his throat but you knew that probably his pride was more hurt than he was. “So what did you want to talk about,” you asked careful to keep yourself from smiling at the situation. The other two boys had grabbed Felix like he was in danger while Minho rushed forward to make sure Chan was okay. You heard Felix tell the other two that he was fine but they didn’t appear to be listening to him.
“We’re taking Felix and leaving,” Chan said as he squared up his chest wanting to appear not frightened in front of you and all the people watching the situation.
“Go ahead,” you turned toward Felix who seemed to look hurt but you gave him a smile. “He’s not captive, he’s free to come and go as he pleases. He gave you the brightest smile at those words.
“Hyung I tried to explain if you would just have listened,” Minho said as he flashed you another apologetic look.
“You told me he was missing and you thought he was at the bar run by the mafia!” Chan argued back as he slowly realized that he didn’t need to be on a rescue mission.
“OH MY GOD,” Felix shouted as he marched over and linked your hands with his again. “I didn’t get kidnapped, I’m here because I like her.” He told his bandmates 3 of which who looked at him like he grew a third head while Minho just sighed. There were a couple of shouts and laughs from everyone else watching and Felix realized he just said that in front of everyone. He let out a squeak and once again hid his head in your shoulder. You gently patted him on the head.
“Why don’t you all go sit down and I’ll pour you some drinks so we can talk things out like adults,” you suggested and all five boys nodded at you with varying expressions of embarrassment.

My Beautiful Choice
Pairing: idol chan x ex idol reader
Genre: angst, some fluff
Warning: break up, reconciliation, overthinking, anxiety, reader does not communicate, Changbin is that best friend that is frustrated and tries to fix things. Chan overthinks too
Summary: You ran away and were more miserable than ever but at least Chan would be happy. It never crossed your mind to think...what if he wasn’t?
Word Count: 2.3k
Authors note: this is not an accurate representation of stray kids but an interpretation based on an idea that stems from them.
Part 2 to My Beautiful Mistake
Really dug through my brain for this so I hope you guys enjoyed this. I honestly think this could be better but I wasn’t sure how.
Tumblr media
Over and over again you hit the block buttons, over and over again you had to hold in your tears. 21 people relating to Stray Kids that you had grown close to over the years. You finally went to Bangchan’s contact on your phone and as you clicked block you felt your heart sink completely. You finally let the tears fall down your face as you collapsed onto the bed of the hotel room you rented for the next few days. You had your own apartment but it was pretty much almost empty since you had spent most of your time at Chan’s dorm. His twin-sized bed wasn’t the comfiest but you two always hugged each other tightly when you fell asleep. You also couldn’t risk getting found by Chan at your apartment so you decided to hide away in a hotel until you figured out what the next step was. Everything so far was both thought out but also such an impulse.
You knew that you had to run away from Chan to set him free but to be alone after being with him for so long, being with the boys and the team. It had been so long since you felt so small and on your own. Ever since you were kicked out of your previous company. Back then you didn’t meet up with Chan for seven days because you were a mess as you cried about losing your group and your dream at the time. When you finally messaged him to say that you wanted to see him, the two of you flew to each other and clutched each other tightly. The memory brought forth more tears as you mourned the loss of your relationship. It would at least make him happier, you thought. It would make him happier now that he didn’t have to keep his promise. You closed your eyes and hoped with all your heart that Chan would be happy now.
Weeks had passed and your heart still ached just the same as the night you left but you couldn’t afford to wallow in the sadness for the rest of your life. You had to get back to work and earn enough money to rent out your own studio now that you couldn’t record in Chan’s room anymore (a thought that brought another round of tears when you first realized it). You threw yourself into making music in hopes that if you worked enough, you could think less. That worked out well as long as you didn’t accidentally click any of the old tracks you had worked on with Chan (you couldn’t delete them, so you stored them all in a folder titled DONT OPEN). You managed to dodge all the job requests relating to JYP (deleting anything from a JYP email address without reading it) and it almost felt like you were reaching some sort of normalcy in your life again.
In hindsight, you should have known that you couldn’t completely run away because you choose to still work in the music industry. Sooner or later you would end up running into Chan or a member of Stray Kids again. Did you expect that to come in the form of Changbin and Chan sitting waiting for you in a studio at KQ entertainment? Not at all.
“Before you run out the door, we just came to talk and get some answers,” Changbin said as he raised both of his hands up to show that he meant no harm. Chan didn’t look at you and kept his head down. He looked so tiny and shrunk down in that oversized black hoodie and perhaps that's what kept you from running away, the fact that he didn’t look as happy as you thought he would. Changbin gestured toward the chair that was nearest to you and you sat down on the very edge, ready to get up and run at a moment’s notice. How far could you really run though? If Changbin or Chan wanted they could catch you before you would even make it to the stairway. You wondered if you should have left the music industry entirely but you knew that you wouldn’t have been able to do that. Music was the only thing keeping you afloat without Chan by your side. So you could only take a deep breath and look at Changbin in hopes of quickly getting through whatever it was they wanted to say to you because the more you saw of Chan the more you wanted to dive into his arms.
“Wooyoung?” You asked even though you already knew the answer. You didn’t personally know any of the Ateez members so you thought it would have been a safe job to take but you were clearly wrong.
“We were worried about you and didn’t know what else to do,” Changbin’s voice was colder than you had ever heard but you knew that you deserved it. You didn’t dare look at Chan directly so you stared into Changbin’s eyes and saw the hurt there.
“I’m sorry Bin- Changbin,” you almost reverted to how you usually called him but you knew that you no longer had the right.
“I’m not the only one you need to be apologizing to, everyone is so worried about you,” Changbin’s voice was cold and you heard the slight tremble. You didn’t know how to respond so you could only look away as you pretended that what he was saying didn’t affect you.
“I’m sorry.”
“We didn’t come here to hear you say sorry, I want to know how exactly the happiest couple I knew,” he pointed between you and Chan, “ended up like this”.
“Bin, we should-” Chan started to say and you could feel yourself tense up at just hearing his voice, oh how you missed it.
“No, you don’t get to try to wiggle out of this because I’m sick and tired of this, sick and tired of you crying alone in your room not telling us what the fuck happened.” You snapped your head over to see Chan shrink further into the chair. “And you!” Changbin pointed a finger directly at you, “I’m sick of not knowing if you’re even alive because you decided that you had to cut all of us out without explanation like we mean nothing to you. Like we aren’t your friends as well,” Changbin angrily wiped at his eyes while you did your best to hold yourself together.
“I’m sorry,” you said once again because that was the only thing you could think of.
“I don’t want to hear you say sorry, I want to know what exactly is going on-”
“It's my fault,” this time it was Chan that cut Changbin off and you both looked at him in shock. You noticed how much thinner his face had gotten and how deep the circles under his eyes had gotten.
“What are you talking about?” You asked confused about how on earth he thought any of this was his fault.
“I ruined everything and you have every right to leave I just had a hard time accepting it,” you saw the tears slide down Chan’s cheek and you jumped up in a panic.
“No Chan I told you in that letter that I didn’t want to chain you down anymore, you didn’t ruin anything, I was the one that ruined things by keeping you with me,” you blurted everything out through the tears that had started running down your own cheeks.
“I can’t believe this,” you both turned to Changbin who you had forgotten was still in the room. He stood up from his seat and pointed at it for you to sit in, “I’m going to leave so that you two can figure this out, don’t come out of this room until you’ve actually communicated,” he shook his head at the two of you as he walked out the room. The room was silent as you sat down in the chair that he just left. The tension felt like it was crushing you but you knew that you needed to make sure Chan understood that he was not at fault for anything.
“I didn’t leave because you ruined anything,” you started saying carefully, “I left because I realized that I needed to set you free.”
“What do you mean set me free?” He asked and you finally looked into his eyes. You saw the warm brown eyes that you love now filled with pain and confusion.
“You promised me that you would always be by my side,” you saw him nod at that, “and you never break a promise…even if it hurts you.” You choked out the last few words as you couldn’t hold back the sobs. “Even if I was hurting you.”
“But you never hurt me, I was the one that hurt you,” you felt Chan’s hand grab onto your own and you felt the warmth that you had missed.
“What do you mean? You’ve never hurt me.”
“You lost your dream because of me because you were dating me,” Chan said as he looked away from you.
“That wasn’t your fault.”
“Dating me took away your dream, you won your first bosang, you could have made your way to being a member of one of the top girl groups if it wasn’t because of me.”
“Don’t tell me you’ve been holding that against yourself this whole time?” You asked as suddenly the fact that he was watching your old fancam made so much more sense. “I told you I was happy working behind the scenes and I meant it, Chan, I’m happy as long as I can work in music. I’ve never once blamed you for being kicked from my group.” You wanted to pull him into a hug but you managed to hold yourself back by just giving his hand a light squeeze.
“What did you mean when you said you were hurting me?” Chan finally asked as he squeezed your hand back. Finally, it was your turn to talk about what you feared the most.
“Remember how we went drinking the night before I left?” You asked and you saw him nod. “Hyunjin asked if you thought we would get married someday, do you remember what you said?”
Chan seemed to think deeply before the look of realization crossed his face. “I said of course I promised I would always be by their side,” he whispered.
“I’ve seen yourself work half to death because of a promise, you’ve kept every promise even at the expense of yourself and I… I couldn’t be such an expense any longer.” You finally told him and you felt a weight lifted off your chest.
“No, no you were never an expense, you were one of the few things that kept me sane in my worst moments and you were my joy in my best moments,” Chan pulled you into a hug, and you were overwhelmed by the familiar yet distant feeling.
“But Chan, I want you to be happy and marry someone you love, and not marry me because you promised that you would stay by my side,” you tried to push him away but he didn’t budge as he tightened his arms around you.
“I felt like I didn’t deserve to say I love you,” he said and you stopped trying to push him.
“What?”
“I didn’t deserve to say I loved you because I took away what you loved but I was too selfish to let you go.” You felt his tears soak into your shoulder. You finally couldn’t hold back and wrapped your arms around his shaking frame.
“I love you Chan,” you said as you gently rubbed his back.
“I love you too. I want to hold you, to marry you, to grow old with you. I made that promise because I love you so much.”
The two of you held onto each other for dear life, both worried that the other would simply vanish in thin air if you were to let go. When you finally felt your own tears calm down you tried to gently push away but Chan let out a whimper and held you tighter.
“I want to look at you Channie,” you soothed him until he loosened his grip. You pulled back enough to look at his face, his eyes were red and there were still tears falling but he looked absolutely beautiful in your eyes. You reached your hand up to hold his face and he leaned into your touch with his eyes closed.
“We both get anxious, and overthink, but I promise that the next time I get too in my head, I’ll come to talk to you about it instead of running away, I’m so sorry Channie.” You pulled your head forward so that your foreheads were touching.
“We need to talk to each other better but we’re going to be okay you and me,” Chan said as he gave you the gentlest of kisses. In his arms, with his lips on yours, you knew there were a lot of things that the two of you needed to talk about, a lot of things you needed to make up for but no matter what you would always choose to be with Chan.

Our Hue
Pairing: hyunjin x female reader (reader uses artist name Dahlia)
Genre: idol hyunjin x artist reader strangers to lovers, slow burn, almost like love at first sight, fluff, some angst
Warning: some cursing, anxious reader, small lies, protective leader chan lol, secrets and anxiety about fame and crowds
Summary: He was drawn to your art and you were drawn to his soul but you two existed in vastly different worlds. Would your two colors come together to make a brilliant hue or would it just end up murky brown?
Word Count: 10k
Authors note: this is not an accurate representation of stray kids but an interpretation based on an idea that stems from them.
Another story that sorta spiraled outta control, it's a bit dramatic but I liked writing it, I hope you guys enjoy this one. It’s kinda like a brainstorm that took on a life of its own.
Tumblr media
“At least go to the gallery on the last day,” your agent James begged as you did your best to ignore him. “I promise on my grandmother’s grave that the place would practically be empty,” he further tried to convince you.
“Your grandmother is still alive, she literally made you bring me homemade kimchi last week,” you retorted as you added a dash of white onto the canvas.
“It’s just a saying oh my god,” he placed his hands on his hips as he shook his head at you. “This is your third big gallery exhibit, you should at least go and take it all in, see how far you’ve come. I’ve even prepared a staff pass for you so that you don’t have to go through ticketing, just enter from the back and flash this to get in.” He dangled a lanyard with a card with a barcode and the letters STAFF on it.
“If I agree to go would that get you to stop bothering me?” You asked, ready to give in since it was clear he would not let you focus on anything else.
You were an up-and-coming artist that had never shown your face publicly and barely gave out any personal information to the press. Your art went out under the name Dahlia and that was about all the art world knew of you. The official reason given was that you wanted your art to be appreciated for itself without any other attachments but in reality… you weren’t good with crowds and public events and all the attention. You just loved art and didn’t want any of the spotlights that came from how well your art was loved. You never went to any of your own exhibitions, as you much rather stay in your studio or wrap yourself in a warm blanket and sleep, but James had been pestering you for a straight week already and you just needed him to leave you alone.
“Promise you won’t hear from me for at least a week,” he said as he placed his hand over his chest.
“Fine,” you grumbled as you snatched the lanyard from him.
You had to admit that James had been honest about pretty much everything he promised. You headed to the gallery just a little bit after noon and it was almost completely empty. The guards at the back gate had given one look at your pass and let you in without as much as a second glance. You walked around the gallery in peace as you looked at your work and the work of fellow other artists. You had seen the pictures from the articles but really walking in the space and taking everything in felt different. You internally grumbled about James being right and you knew that he would be smug about that for at least a few months afterward. You were so deep in thought that you didn’t notice someone standing next to you until they waved a hand in front of your face. You jumped about a mile back as you glanced up to see who that someone was. You had to control yourself to keep your mouth from opening in shock at how handsome the face in front of you was. You immediately noted how good the proportions of his face and body were. It was clear that he styled himself casually in jeans and a white T-shirt but the accessories and bag he carried showed how stylish he was. The feeling he gave off reminded you of honeysuckles.
“Sorry I didn’t mean to scare you,” he said as he gave you a slight bow and you cursed the heavens that of course, he had to have a good voice too.
“What is it?” You asked, your voice coming out angrier than you meant it to but in your defense, he had indeed scared you.
“I was just wondering if the special exhibit  gift shop would be opening up at all today?” He asked in a rather timid voice and you couldn’t help but feel bad for sounding angry. You stared at him confused as his eyes flicked from your face to your neck and then you remembered the STAFF lanyard you were wearing.
“Ah right the gift shop,” you searched your brain for any info you had on the gift shop instead of trying to explain that you weren’t actually a member of staff there. You knew that James had mentioned something about the gift shop. “Right it won’t be opening today since everything sold out yesterday,” you finally remembered that he told you t gleefully as he went on to gloat about how high the demand for your printed postcards and posters was.
“Any chance it will be restocked by tomorrow?” The stranger asked with hope in his eyes.
“It's the last day of the exhibit so no,” you told him bluntly and you had to watch the hope fade from his eyes. “Was there something specific you wanted or something?” You asked curious about why he looked so defeated at not having to spend his money.
“I wanted to get a poster of  Pink Dreams to hang in my room,” he said as he turned to stare at the actual painting. Pink Dreams was a painting of a single pink Dahlia flower cut at the stem and placed in a cup of water in a room that was covered in ice and snow. The bright pink flower was clearly starting to droop and there were petals that were curling in but you especially kept the colors vibrant in comparison with the more cool-toned surroundings. It wasn’t one of your most praised pieces but it was one you were proud of for the meaning attached to it.
“Why that one in particular?” You couldn’t help but ask.
“I’m not sure, I just feel really drawn to it, there’s something about that flower…that makes me want to keep on looking at it. Would it be weird to say that I want to be like that flower?” Hyunjin trailed off clearly not sure how to explain what he felt.
“You’re trying your best huh?” You supplied for him and his eyes widened. “Anyway if you take a good picture of it you could blow it up to be poster-sized and get it printed out somewhere,” you told him trying to change the subject so that you didn’t end up trying to psychoanalyze a stranger in the middle of a gallery.
“I couldn’t do that!” He looked absolutely scandalized as he stared at you.
“Why not?”
“It wouldn’t be official!”
“And that matters because?”
“It wouldn’t be supporting the artist!”
You could only chuckle at that as he looked at you like you had grown three heads. You remembered that you had something better than a poster that you could give him. It was a little risky but it wasn’t like you were going to see him again. You took your sketchbook out from your bag and flipped to one of the earlier pages. It was a small draft painting of Summers Change that wasn’t exactly like the finished painting but it was about 98% the same, just much smaller. Your nerves made your hand shake as you carefully ripped the page out but it wasn’t often that you got to interact with someone that liked your art.
“It’s not a poster but probably better?” You questioned as you tilted your head at him waiting to see his reaction.
It took about 30 seconds of looking between the painting in your hands and the one on the wall before he covered his mouth and looked at you. “You…” he barely got out as he pointed at the painting on the wall to get his point across.
“In the flesh,” you smiled amused by his reaction. The nerves subsided a little bit as it was clear that you had the power in this situation, “Now hurry and take this, my arm is getting tired,” you complained as he took the painting from you with both hands.
“How should I, this must cost, should I?”
“Don’t worry about it, it's a gift,” you told him as you deciphered what he was trying to tell you. You never revealed yourself like this before so you were quite stunned by his reaction.
“But I, Dahlia-nim I’m such a big fan I can’t believe,” he still wasn’t making much sense and you were worried that you broke him.
“Look I gotta go, keep the painting, don’t tell anyone you met me, bye,” with that you pretty much ran off not wanting to make a scene even if the gallery was nearly empty. You were happy to give something to a fan of yours but you weren’t ready to have to turn him down if he asked for a photo or something. You thought of the smile on his handsome face as he took in the painting you gave him. You made a risky choice today but it was worth it.
“Now this might be a stupid question because I know for a fact that you’re only close with like 5 people including me but do you know Hyunjin of Stray Kids?” James asked you a week later as he handed you your coffee.
“Who of what?” You asked, not awake enough in the early morning to make sense of James’ question.
“Thought so,” James just nodded as he went back to something on his phone.
“Are you going to explain or?”
“Why does Hyunijn of Stray Kids have what I recognized as one of your drafts?” James thrust his phone into your face and you saw an artwork station surrounded by a few paintings, one of them was your Pink Dreams.
“Oh these are pretty good,” you commented on the other paintings in the picture as James sighed in exacerbation.
“Again why does this man,” James swiped to a picture of the handsome man you met in the gallery, this time with darker hair. “Have your painting?”
“I gave it to him,” you answered as you took a sip of your coffee, you felt yourself become much more alive.
“And when did you meet an idol?”
“He’s an idol?” You asked the question on purpose to annoy James who threw up his hands in frustration.
“Yes! He’s an idol from a group called Stray Kids and the internet as well as I am dying to find out why he has your art.”
“He said he was a fan at the gallery so I gave him the sketch,” you answered truthfully not really seeing why James was making such a fuss.
“The two of you are trending right now,” James nearly shouted as he should you a page with a bunch of numbers and a bunch of words that you didn’t understand.
“Is that a bad thing?” You asked seriously, having no clue about anything to do with things like that.
“No, but next time tell me if you happen to give something to an internationally popular idol so I won’t be caught off guard when I get 500 emails asking how this happened.”
You let out a low whistle at the number. “I honestly didn’t think it was a big deal, I just gave him a draft.”
“Okay let’s put aside the fact that he’s a billboard charting idol, your paintings can cost tens of thousands of dollars when we auction them, and in the future, they will be worth much more. An original sketch of a painting that ends up being sold could go for almost the same price as the painting if collectors were trying to get their hands on it. Paired with the fact that he’s famous and you’re mysterious, there are a million theories floating around.”
“Theories?”
“Some pretty wild stuff and then some stuff I’d rather not repeat. We should probably release some sort of statement before things get too blown out of proportion.”
“Do people really not have better things to be doing?” You asked as you set your coffee down and leaned back in your chair.
“It wouldn’t have been so bad if he just said you gave it to him at a gallery,” James was frantically typing in his phone as he spoke.
“What did he say instead?”
“I can’t talk about it.”
“What the fuck? Was it so bad?”
“No he literally said and I quote, “I can really talk about it” when his fans asked him. Makes the whole thing sound so damn suspicious,” James sighed some more and you pushed your coffee toward him.
“That might be my fault then,” you said as James raised his eyebrow at you in the middle of taking a gulp from your coffee. “I kinda told him not to mention that he met,” you explained, “ I meant not to reveal anything about my identity not make it sound like he got it from an art heist.”
“Well at least we know he’s a good kid. Hasn’t used you for clout at all.”
“Isn’t he more famous than me?”
“This is why I need you to go out more, how do you not know how insanely popular you are?”
“Because thinking about it makes me super uncomfortable.”
The incident with Hyunjin passed by with James making a statement on your official Instagram (that he ran 100%), he posted a picture of Pink Dreams and wrote “hope my friend liked the gift”. You had argued that he wasn’t a friend but James assured you that it was easier to just write ‘friend’ than ‘stranger I randomly met at the art gallery’.
After knowing Hyunjin’s name and his group, you couldn’t help but look up his group and listen to some of their songs. You were curious about the kind of person that liked your art enough to be upset that he couldn’t buy a poster of it. If you were honest his group’s songs weren’t the type of music you would usually listen to but his song Little Star was a song you had on repeat from the moment you first heard it. You were so inspired by it you made a small sketch and later a larger painting and titled it Little Star. It honestly shouldn’t have mattered but a part of you hoped that Hyunjin would see it and he would like it.
James kept you updated on Hyunjin, from randomly sending you screenshots of Hyunjin’s Instagram posts to barging into your studio to show photos of Hyunjin wearing clothing with your art on it.
“He’s wearing the latest Little Star hoodie,” James nearly screamed in excitement. The hoodie was the first article of clothing you ever sold as merch and although you had argued against it, you were glad that James convinced you to release it. Hyunjin looked amazing in the hoodie and you couldn’t help but think that he must have liked the painting.
You let out a big yawn as you walked around the museum. Your work was being exhibited in the USA and although you would never go to your own exhibits, you wanted to visit the museum and look at some of the works by far better and more famous artists than yourself. It was also James practically forcing you to take a vacation because as he put it “if you don’t get out more you will start to grow mold”. To hide from the potential afternoon crowd you arrived as soon as the museum opened and it felt like you were walking through a private collection.
“No way,” you heard in Korean, and being curious you turned around to see… Hyunjin with two other men by his side.  He looked at you with wide eyes as the other two looked from him to you.
“Do you know each other?” You heard the shorter freckled face man ask. You recognized the two strangers as being members of the same group as Hyunjin but you had yet to place a name on them. Your mind was racing to see which way was fastest to an exit. It was one thing for Hyunjin to know who you were, you trusted him after he never mentioned meeting you in the media but two extra people to keep a secret filled you with anxiety. You were about to step away when the look of surprise in Hyunjin’s eyes softened to a look you couldn’t quite place your finger on.
“Ah yeah! That’s a friend from high school, we haven’t seen each other in forever, so unexpected to run into her in the US,” Hyunjin explained as the three of them walked closer to you. “Hi! What a surprise,” Hyunjin said as he pulled you into a hug, “sorry about this,” he whispered into your ear before letting you go.
“Yeah it’s a big surprise to see you here,” you said as you tried to play along with his scenario.
“Hi, I’m Felix!” The boy with freckles said as he gave you a big smile and a light bow. He reminded you of orange blossoms blowing in the wind.
“I’m Jeongin,” the third member of their group said as he also gave you a slight bow. He had charming eyes and reminded you of yellow forsythia flowers.
You bowed back as you tried to think of what name to give them. To say Dahlia and hope they didn’t connect you with the artist or give them your real name. To save you from further internal debate Hyunjin jumped in front and said, “do you guys mind walking around on your own for a bit, we have a little catching up to do.”
The two boys looked at each other before Felix gave Hyunjin a grin and he pulled Jeongin’s arm, “of course, you two take your time,” he wiggled his eyebrow before walking off with Jeongin who shot a few glances back in clear confusion.
“They’re going to be insufferable on the way back to the hotel,” Hyunjin groaned as he watched them leave.
“Good luck with that,” you said as you slowly calmed your anxious nerves.
“I’ll survive,” Hyunjin turned to give you a soft smile and you felt something tug at your heart.
“Thanks for not saying anything about me,” you said earnestly and you gave him a smile, “I’m sure they’re going to ask you a lot of questions.”
“Your secret is safe with me I promise,” he was so serious as he spoke that you couldn’t help but feel a little bit moved.
“What are you doing here anyways?”
“We have a concert here tomorrow and there was some downtime today so I wanted to check this museum out. Felix tagged along cause he wanted to take aesthetic pictures and Innie was bored. What are you doing here?”
“It’s a museum, I’m an artist, it’s not odd I’d be at one,” you gestured toward the art and then yourself to make a point.
“I guess that’s right…” Hyunjin mumbled clearly embarrassed.
“Have you seen my exhibit yet?” You asked kindly to try to change the subject.
“Your exhibit?” Hyunjin asked as he looked up in shock. He opened up the pamphlet in his hand to quickly read through it and saw that your name was indeed written in the section under Special Exhibits. “Is Little Star here?”
“Yep let me show you,” you said as you started walking toward where your work was being exhibited. “I take you like the piece?”
“Of course! I’ve been waiting for a chance to see it in person, I just didn’t think it would be like this halfway across the world. Is it really… based on my song?”
“What makes you say that?” You teased as you turned to look at him. He looked away with a light blush on his features.
“Right, sorry I just assumed because that’s what Stays have been saying.”
“Well they’re right then,” you said as you arrived in front of the painting in question.
Hyunjin looked up as he noticed you stopped and let out a little gasp. “It’s even more beautiful in person,” he said as he walked closer to take everything in. Little Star was a painting of a puppy made of starlight sound asleep and looking very content under a shrub of blooming honeysuckles. You had the idea after you read the comment under the video of the song saying that it was written for his dog that passed away.
“Why honeysuckle?” He asked after a few moments of just observing the painting.
“Reminded me of you,” you answered honestly and the blush on his face deepened.
“I remind you of a flower?”
“A very pretty one,” you teased, unable to help yourself. You wouldn’t explain the meaning to him, but maybe one day he would find out. “Anyway, shouldn’t you get back to your friends?”
“They’ll be fine and besides, if it’s alright, I would much rather walk around the museum with you,” he looked at you with such hopeful eyes that you didn’t have the heart to turn him down.
The two of you spent two hours walking around and discussing art as well as random little tidbits in your lives. You learned how artistic Hyunjin was as he talked about how he got into art and all the different mediums he was trying out.
“Oil paints are so expensive,” he whined.
“Tell me about it,” you chuckled along. “Although I’ve seen some of your art, I think you’re very talented.”
“No, I’m still learning, not nearly as talented as you.”
“Don’t say that about your art, every artist and every work is different and special in its own way. There’s no need to compare,” you told him and he looked to be in deep thought for a little bit. It was rather easy to talk to Hyunjin because it always seemed like he listened deeply to what you were saying.
You told him how you loved museums and galleries but didn’t like going to a lot of them because of crowds.
“It’s nice just to walk amongst the art instead of walking amongst the crowd,” you explained and Hyunjin nodded along. “I don’t know how you handle being an idol and being surrounded by people all the time,” you said as you shivered at the thought.
“Sometimes it gets tiring and a bit much but other times it’s so exciting. To look out to a sea of people and know that they came for you and you can make them happy,” Hyunjin spoke with such a bright look on his face that you almost wondered what it felt like to stand in such a crowd.
The two of you took a little break at the cafe in the museum, you ordered a coffee and a danish each. You paid for it as Hyunjin was grabbing his wallet from his bag and he said a quiet thank you as he carried the tray with your orders to the table.
“So how long are you going to be in this city?” Hyunjin asked as the two of you started eating your danishes, the food wasn’t great but you were both hungry enough not to complain.
“I have no set time for when I need to be back in Korea so maybe a few more days,” you wanted to fly back soon so you could go back to your studio but James would throw a fit saying that you didn’t get enough of a vacation from work.
“Would you want to go to our concert tomorrow?” Hyunjin blurted out quite suddenly.
“You said it was at the stadium right?”
“Yeah,” Hyunjin nodded as he seemed excited to think that you would be agreeing.
“I’m sorry, but I’d rather not,” you tried to turn him down gently but you knew that he took it the wrong when he flinched and looked away from you. “It’s nothing against your group or music, I just can’t really do crowds you know,” you softened your tone as much as you could in hopes that he realized it wasn’t personal.
“Right a stadium is a big crowd,” he said softly as he gave you a light smile, clearly still disappointed but at least he was looking at you again. “How would you feel about coming to watch us soundcheck? We didn’t sell any tickets for that this stop so it would just be you, the members, and some staff.” The excited glint was back in his eyes and you found yourself wanting to agree just to make him happy. Dangerous.
“Why are you so set on trying to get me to watch you perform?”
It’s just I’ve seen so much of your art and I was hoping to show you my art,” he explained as he shyly looked away.
“I mean I love your song Little Star if you couldn’t tell already,” you told him.
“I just, really like talking with you and I was hoping that if you saw me on stage it would sort of change your impression from me just being a fan of yours to someone you would want to be friends with. Ah, it's so embarrassing to say aloud,” Hyunjin covered his face as he squirmed in his seat. You found him absolutely adorable.
“I would already want to be your friend Hyunjin but I guess I could spare some time to watch the soundcheck,” you teased. Sure it was rather weird to agree to go to the soundcheck of an idol you had met only twice (and much more briefly the first time) but there was something so pure and heartfelt about him that you wanted to get to know more.
The two of you talked a bit more and exchanged kakaotalk IDs so that he could tell you how to get to the soundcheck. You parted after that since he needed to go back to the hotel as they were having a group lunch. You left the gallery a little bit after he did as it started filling with people. The whole way back to your hotel you couldn’t help but grin as you thought over how happy he was when you agreed to go.
You clapped as hard as you could once the song finished and the boys got to the front of the stage in a sort of mock bow so the camera could track them. You arrived at the stadium at the time Hyunjin directed and found a manager waiting for you. She brought you backstage where Hyunjin hugged you and introduced you to the other members, keeping the story that you were a high school friend of his. The boys welcomed you nicely although you were a little on edge from meeting that many people at once. There was a little bit of small talk that you and Hyunjin mostly gave vague answers to in hopes of not revealing too much or being too suspicious. You had a feeling that Chan (who reminded you of acacia) and Changbin ( who reminded you of cornflowers) exchanged quite a few glances during your intro to the boys. When it was time for them to do their sound check you were led by the same manager to a front-row seat. You had to admit that watching the boys live, even if they were only performing at 50% of their usual energy (according to Hyunjin), was very much different from hearing the songs on your laptop. You found yourself focusing on Hyunjin for most of the soundcheck as there was a sort of fluidity to his movements that attracted your attention. Sometimes he’d catch your eye and throw up a V sign or wink and you’d just smile.
“So how was it, Lia?” Han (who reminded you of an iris) asked as he squatted over the edge of the stage, using the nickname that Hyunjin had suggested to you over KakaoTalk.
“You guys were amazing!” You gave two thumbs up to show what you thought.
“Who was the most amazing though?” Seungmin (who reminded you of lily of the valleys) waddled over to ask and you could hear the teasing tone in his voice.
“Hmmmmmm,” you pretended to think long and hard about the question. “I guess I would say…I’m the most amazing since I got to watch it,” you made a joke to save yourself from revealing who you really thought.
Lee Know (who reminded you of an orchid) let out a big “ha” laugh while the others giggled or just shook their heads at your joke.
“Want to join us for lunch?” Hyunjin asked as he hopped off the stage to go to where you were in the audience.
“No it’s alright, I should leave you guys to eat your lunch in peace so you can relax before the concert.”
“No, you should totally join us!” Felix said as he also jumped down and threw a hand over Hyunjin’s shoulder. “We would love to talk to you some more,” he put a really heavy emphasis on the we part.
“If you’re sure that I wouldn’t be bothering you,” between both Hyunjin and Felix, it was pretty hard for you to just directly say no. It’s not that you minded eating lunch with them, it was that you were really worried they would rather eat in peace and not have to socialize until the concert.
“Not a bother at all,” Hyunjin said with so much sincerity that you couldn’t help but nod your head and follow the boys backstage.
They decided to order Chipotle and played a round of Rock Paper Scissors to decide who would pay for it. You insisted on joining in even though everyone told you that you didn’t have to. Luckily you managed to be safe from paying almost immediately and Han ended up paying for everyone. There was a bit of chaos as he tried to order on the app and Lee Know screamed that he would eat a quokka if his bowl had any cilantro in it. A joke that Hyunjin had to explain to you. You had some fun ideas for paintings you could make after he told you about all the animal mascots the boys had.
“You have the tote too?” You asked as you brought up the tote bag with Little Star printed onto it. For a second you didn’t realize why Hyunjin looked at you in a panic until you remembered it was dangerous to bring up your art at all.
“Yeah, he brought every item that had that painting printed on it. He’s obsessed with the artist,” Jeongin told you as he stuffed his mouth with an alarmingly large amount of food.
“He is! Did he tell you, he actually got a painting from the Dahlia but he won’t tell anyone where or how he got it!” Changbin complained rather loudly while Hyunjin just facepalmed at the absurdity of the situation.
“They’re friends right, that’s why Dahlia made that Instagram post? And the Little Star painting must be based on Hyunjin’s song,” Felix joined in the conversation from the couch.
“That’s all speculation since Jinnie refuses to talk about it,” Chan also chimed in and the conversation was slowly spiraling out of your comfort zone.
“Guys, can we please talk about something else?” Hyunjin begged as he subtly glanced at you. You gave him a weak smile in return. It wasn’t often that you heard about yourself like this.
“See he tries to change the topic every time, he must be hiding something,” Lee Know pointed his fork at Hyunjin like a weapon.
“I still think maybe he’s been Dahlia this whole time and he’s been hiding it from us,” Han proclaimed.
“That makes absolutely no sense,” Seungmin said, finally joining in this madness.
“Maybe he met Dahlia then and she was super ugly so she gave him the painting to keep him quiet,” Han suggested next and you felt your stomach sink at the thought that such a theory was out there.
“Guys,” Hyunjin tried to diffuse the conversation to no avail.
“Or she was actually a he this whole time!”
“Or maybe she was a cat!”
“Lee Know that makes even less sense than Hyunjin being Dahlia,” Chan shook his head in a disappointed father-like way.
“I say it’s for sure that she fell for our Hyunjin at first sight and used the painting to ask him to model for her!”
“GUYS CAN WE JUST DROP IT?” Hyunjin shouted and the room went deathly silent.
Everyone continued to eat as Felix brought up something about a game he was playing and the conversation moved on. You picked at your food until it was a muddled mess and then just put the aluminum top back on to hide it.
“I should get going so you guys can prepare for the concert, thanks for the meal Han,” you said as you tossed the box into the trash.
“I’ll walk you out,” Hyunjin stood up but you shook your head at him.
“It’s fine, I know the way out,” and with that, you left the room quickly before Hyunjin could try to convince you otherwise.
As you got to the hotel room, your phone dinged and you pulled it out to reveal a text from Hyunjin.
Hyunjin: I’m sorry for what happened today, the boys weren’t trying to be mean they just have a wild imagination.
Dahlia: don’t worry about it, good luck with the concert!
You weren’t really sure what else to say, you weren’t mad at the boys. It was just weird to hear theories about yourself directly, usually, James fed you the info and it made you feel more removed. If people talked like that without knowing anything about you, you wonder if the theories would be better or worse if they had more info about you.
You returned to Korea and went back to the studio so that you didn’t have to think about things you didn’t want to dwell too deeply on. James made a comment about how you seemed more stressed than when you took your vacation but you didn’t know how to explain what had happened. Hyunjin texted you once in a while to ask about your day and what you were up to. Sometimes he would send you a photo he took in a new city and he always used the same line of “wanted to share the view”. He made you want to step outside so that you could show him the view from your end too even if it was always from the same spot. One night he called you super excited because he brought a travel-size watercolor kit and wanted your opinion on it. The two of you stayed on the phone just painting and chatting until the early hours of the morning on your end. You really liked it when he told you good night and he hoped that you would have a good dream.  After that the two of you had more phone conversations, sometimes you would talk to him until he fell asleep while he painted and other times he would talk to you until you fell asleep just as he had to leave to prepare for the concert.
When the tour finished, you thought that the phone calls would too, and they did for a few days. Then one day out of nowhere Hyunjin called you to ask if you heard about the new Van Gogh exhibit that recently came to Seoul.
“Of course, I was thinking of checking it out early in the morning one of these days,” you stretched out on your bed.
“What would you think about going together?”
“I don’t know Hyunjin, is this you asking me out on a date?”
“Would you say yes if it was?” You heard the hesitation and nervousness in his voice as you thought it over. There was no denying that you felt connected to Hyunjin, more than you had to any other person in recent years. He was sweet, he was kind and he matched well with you in a way you weren’t sure you could explain in words.
“I would,” you answered as you stared at your phone feeling more nervous than you would like to admit.
“Then yeah this is me asking you on a date.”
You were nervous. Why were you nervous? You stepped out of the car and it almost felt like you would pass out at any moment. You styled yourself simply because you didn’t want to overdress. It was just going to the museum together, it wouldn’t even be the first time but you found it hard to think that now it would be a date.
You spotted Hyunjin as he stood right by the ticketing booth, he looked like a model even if he wore simple black pants (that showcased his long legs) and a muscle shirt (that showcased his surprisingly toned arms). The two of you made small talk as he bought both your tickets (he insisted). You were more comfortable when you entered the museum and you were in your element. As you two walked through the exhibit you explained and talked about the more technical things or told stories about the pieces that you knew.
“I hope I’m not boring you,” you said as you realized you just went on a long lecture about the Road With Cypress And Star painting.
“No, not at all, in fact, I love hearing you talk about art,” he said and you felt yourself melt at how sincere he sounded. At one point you grabbed his hand in excitement to rush over to a painting you didn’t expect to see and neither of you let go. It felt so right to hold his hand.
The date went great…until it didn’t. You had to use the restroom and left Hyunjin standing nearby, when you came back there were three girls around him and it was clear that they were fans. They chatted excitedly at him as he nodded and laughed at something they said. You weren’t sure what you were supposed to do in that situation and then his eyes met yours for about a second before he turned them away to focus back on the girls. You knew that he couldn’t acknowledge you in front of his fans but, at that moment it hurt more than you were expecting it to. You turned and practically ran out the exhibit, you sent him a text to tell him that you left, and then you turned off your phone.
“Would it kill you to turn your phone on?” James asked as he sat on the couch in your studio.
You ignored him in favor of focusing on the painting in front of you.
“Does it have something to do with Hyunjin??” He asked rather suddenly and you couldn’t help but stiffen at the name. “So it does?” He asked as he leaned forward, clearly invested in the conversation.
“What makes you say that?” You asked, unable to help yourself.
“Just a feeling, you know that you can’t hide much from me.”
You sighed and put the paintbrush on the table knowing that you wouldn’t be able to push James away. “It’s just, it’s such a small thing but I haven’t been able to get my mind in a space where I can understand my actions. I can’t explain it to myself, so how do I explain it to him?”
“Why don’t you tell me what happened on the little museum date that you were so excited about?” James suggested as he got himself comfortable on the couch in your art studio.
You told him about how great the day had been going up until he got surrounded by fangirls. “He looked at me and just looked away. And I get it, he couldn’t say that he was with me in front of the fans but it just hurts and it hasn’t stopped hurting even when I try to rationalize it. I sound fucking possessive and insane but I can’t shake the feeling away.” You clutched tightly on the fabric of your pants to try and stay grounded as you explained.
“Oh sweetie,” James said as he looked at you with eyes full of worry. “Would you have felt better if he did say that he was with you in front of the fans?”
You immediately shook your head, “No he couldn’t.”
“Why not?”
“He’s an idol,” It was the most obvious thing in the world, idols couldn’t date.
“There’s plenty of idols with girlfriends these days, besides he’s already introduced you to his bandmates and none of them questioned him on that. If it was an issue his members would have probably stepped in to tell him off.”
“I was introduced as his friend,” you argued even though it felt like a ridiculous statement.
“Right and I’m sure they believed it,” James rolled his eyes while you thought about the looks the boys had given each other when Hyunjin introduced you.
“Even if it was okay for him to, he couldn’t just say that he was on a date with me!”
“Why not?”
“Because how would he even-” you cut yourself off as you realized what James had been trying to get you to understand… “how would he even introduce me…”
“Exactly, that’s the root of it all. If you and Hyunjin were to become a couple, things like this would happen quite often, and then what? He who lives under the light of others and you who chooses to hide herself in the shadows. There are bound to be issues and you subconsciously realized that. He can’t acknowledge you when you need to keep almost everything about yourself a public secret.”
The words sunk in and you felt the energy leave your body, “so it just wouldn’t ever work out,” you whispered out in defeat.
“That’s not my point at all, I’m just saying that you need to think about what it is that you’re really upset about and how you move forward. I think the two of you would be really cute together but I also know that it would impossible to hide things as well as you have if you were to date him.”
You couldn’t really paint anything much after the talk with James. You liked Hyunjin, you really did but you were scared, scared of everything falling apart because you liked someone in the spotlight. You tossed and turned in your bed as you realized the most important thing, how did Hyunjin feel? He took you on a date, you ran off halfway through, and then ended up ghosting him.
You grabbed your phone and stared at it and wondered if you even deserved to know how he felt. Perhaps it would be easier to just ignore it and go back to how things were before you met him. The two of you didn’t even know each other that long, would it really hurt to just let things die off like this? You thought back to the smile Hyunjin gave you as you talked about Van Gogh’s art and you knew that you at least needed to know if he was okay. You powered on your phone and waited with bated breath as it slowly turned on. As soon as your phone lit up and you put in your passcode, it dinged with about twenty notification sounds and you watched as the messages and missed calls flashed across the screen.
Hyunjin: Hey sorry about that they were fans and wanted an autograph. You said you left already? Could we maybe reschedule this date?
Hyunjin: Dahlia? Are you okay?
Hyunjin: I’m really sorry, I shouldn’t have ignored you
Hyunjin: Please just tell me if you’re okay
Hyunjin: I’m sorry
Hyunjin: I’m so sorry
Hyunjin: I really hope you’re alright
Hyunjin: please give me a chance to fix this?
Hyunjin: I’m sorry… I like you
You cried as you read his messages the last one being sent only a couple of hours ago. You quickly pressed call before your brain fully processed what you were doing. The dial tone rang twice before he picked up.
“Dahlia?” you heard him say on the other end and you had to cover your mouth to stop the loud sobs from being heard. You missed his voice more than you had thought.
“Hi Hyunjin,” you managed to choke out through the tears.
“Are you okay? Is everything alright?” He asked and you heard the panic in his voice.
“I’m sorry Hyunjin.”
“What? Why are you sorry?”
“You didn’t do anything wrong, I just, ran away because…” you wondered how you would explain to him how you felt when you only just realized everything. “I really like you,” you said and then covered your mouth at the realization of what you blurted out. There was silence on the other end and your brain ran a mile a minute to try and think of how he would respond.
“I really like you too,” he said after a little pause.
“But… I don’t know if I can do this,” you said as you ignored how fast his words were making your heart beat.
“What do you mean?”
“You live in the light Hyunjin, and I’ve been hiding in the shadows,” you explained James’ words clear in your head.
“Could we please talk this over in person?”
“Hyunjin I can’t.” You couldn’t let him see how much of a crying mess you currently were.
“Please let me see you and talk to you in person, give me a chance, give us a chance,” Hyunjin pleaded and you heard the emotion in the trembling of his voice.
“Tomorrow, let’s meet tomorrow” you compromised, not fully able to say no but knowing that you couldn’t see him without preparing yourself some more mentally.
“Okay tomorrow, send me the address and I’ll come find you,” there was so much promise in his voice that you felt a fresh round of tears spring forth.
You decided to send him the address of a small gallery that James was planning on opening up. It didn’t feel right to invite Hyunjin to your studio after what you planned to tell him today. The gallery was still being worked on and there weren’t any paintings so you felt especially small in the large space filled with white walls and bright lights. There was a knock at the glass door and you heard it being pushed open. You looked up to see Hyunjin walk in. He was dressed in black pants and an oversized black hoodie and even though it had only been a week since you last saw him, he seemed much more haggard. The black circles under his eyes were much more pronounced than what you remember seeing. He gave you a soft smile as he sat down in the seat across from you.
“Hi,” you muttered quietly.
“Hi,” he said back almost just as quietly.
“I’m sorry for ghosting you for a week, I needed to sort through some feelings and thoughts,” you had practically spent the whole night thinking through what you wanted to say to him.
“That’s okay, I understand, as long as you’re okay.”
“I really like you Hyunjin but it’s not going to be easy to keep hiding who I am and that’s not fair to ask you to keep such a secret.” You spilled your heart out not brave enough to look at him so you stared at your hands.
“What if I wanted to try? For us to try?”
“Remember how much shit the boys and the internet gave you about the painting? About Little Star? I’m going to want to make art about you Hyunjin and there’s going to be so many questions,” you knew that you wouldn’t be able to hold back your feelings from your art and that would result in more questions.
“And I would be able to handle it,” he reached his hand over and placed it on top of yours. “I think I fell for you that moment when I saw you again in America and you looked at the painting with such a glow on your face. I couldn’t help but want to call out to you. I fell for you fast and hard and you haven’t left my mind since, I like you so much and am willing to do whatever for us to work.” You looked up and saw the sincerity and unshed tears in his eyes. Not able to hold yourself back, you reached up and pulled him into a tight hug.
“I like you so much too,” you said as you buried your face into his neck. He gave off such warmth that all thoughts of doubt flew out of your head.
“Give us a chance?” He asked again and you agreed with all your heart.
Hyunjin was officially your boyfriend and it felt like quite a dream. You invited him over to your studio and he spent hours just marveling at all your work and equipment. He praised you so much that you were red in the face and had to physically shut him up by giving him a kiss. The studio was where the two of you spent most of your “dates”. You made Hyunjin his own work corner and you would paint while he worked on music or made art of his own. It was nice to just chat about each other’s days or work in comfortable silence. Sometimes you two would grab the extra pillows and blankets you had in the studio (courtesy of James knowing you spent too many nights working) and had a little movie night with his laptop perched on his belly as you leaned onto his shoulder. You slipped little drawings and scribbles into his pockets whenever he had to leave for practice and he would always send you a selfie posed with it when he found it.
Two months into the relationship he asked if you wanted to come to the practice room to watch him prepare for a dance stage. It would be late at night and the other boys wouldn’t be there so you agreed. You were once again in awe at the way he moved with the music and you took out your sketchbook to make little sketches of the way he danced. There was something so delicate yet so strong about the way he danced that you were mesmerized.
You were adding the details of his shirt to a sketch when there was a knock on the practice room door and then it opened to reveal Chan. You quickly hid your sketchbook behind you as you stood up and Hyunjin paused the music. Hyunjin had told the boys that you were dating but you had yet to see them since you last ate Chipotle with them.
“What’s up Hyung?” Hyunjin asked as he wiped the sweat from his forehead.
Chan looked from you to Hyunjin and then just smiled a smile that you could tell wasn’t sincere. “Just wanted to make sure that you weren’t practicing too hard,” he gave Hyunjin a pat on the shoulder while Hyunjin just grumbled and pushed him away.
“You’re such a dad,” he whined before he shot you an eye roll as if you ask ‘can you believe this dude’. You could only smile stiffly back, not yet comfortable in the situation.
“Anyway I was going to ask you to come to listen to this section of a song I just finished but actually I’d like to ask Lia,” Chan turned his attention to you and you instantly knew that it wouldn’t be as simple as that.
“Why Lia?” Hyunjin asked, not picking up on the same things you were but clearly confused at Chan’s choice.
“Be nice to get the perspective of someone not on the team,” Chan said with a shrug and Hyunjin just nodded.
“What do you think babe?” Hyunjin asked you and there was such a large part of you that didn’t want to agree, but you knew that Hyunjin trusted Chan and you had no way to explain why you didn’t want to go with him.
“Sure sounds fun,” you managed to get out with a smile on your face.
“Great follow me,” Chan said as he headed toward the door, you followed and carefully dropped your sketchbook next to the pile of your and Hyunjin’s stuff. The walk with Chan was quick as he led you to a room that was only a few doors down from the dance practice room. “This is Channies room,” he said as he opened the door and gestured for you to walk in. “Go ahead and take a seat.”
You sat on the black sofa as he sat on the gray office chair and spun it around so that he was looking at you.
“Look I’m sure you know that the song was just an excuse, in fact, I’ve been wanting to talk to you for a while but Hyunjin never really brought you around. These days we rarely even see him around if not for schedules and practice.” Chan had a gentle expression on his face but his tone was quite serious.
“Has that been a problem?” You asked as you wondered if perhaps you should start hanging out with Hyunjin less so as to not affect his relationship with the group.
“No in fact everyone’s noticed that he’s been so happy and relaxed since the two of you started dating. It definitely had a positive effect on him, and I’m happy that he’s happy but there are some things as team leader, that I need to talk to you about.”
You felt your heart sink as you wondered what Chan wanted to talk to you about.
“Hyunjin told us that you guys went to the same high school and that’s how you two knew each other,” Chan began as you nodded remembering the lie he made up when you saw each other again at the museum. “He must have forgotten that Jeongin also went to that high school and they were only a year apart. He told me that he doesn’t remember you at all or ever heard about a Lia at their school.” A part of you really wanted to laugh at how Hyunjin managed to forget that he went to the same school as someone else and another part of you wanted to cry at the information. “I don’t know why he would lie about something like that but I do know that he probably did it for you,” Chan continued, and with every word your heart sank a bit more. “I don’t know you, but I know Hyunjin and he's a really good man, he doesn’t give his heart out easily but he’s a romantic at heart.” You silently nodded in agreement. “I know you two have your reasons and he generally seems happy but I just need you to promise me that you won’t hurt him.”
“I can’t promise that Chan,” you looked up, met his eyes, and saw the shock in them. “It’s a relationship and sometimes that means we do things that hurt each other even if we don’t mean to, but I promise that I’ll never hurt him on purpose.” The look of confusion morphed into one of understanding and Chan gave you the first real smile of the day.
“How was the song?” Hyunjin asked as you walked back into the dance room.
“Very exciting,” Chan had actually let you listen to a snippet of a song he was working on, as a sort of apology for “acting like a dad”. You walked over to where Hyunjin was standing and dove into his chest. He was pretty sweaty but you didn’t mind as you took in his warmth.
“You okay?” He asked as he gently wrapped his arms around you.
“You’re a terrible liar, you know that?”
“What?” He tried to pull you apart enough to look at your face but you only tightened your grip on him. “Babe, what are you talking about?”
“How do you forget that you went to the same high school as Jeongin?”
“What does that have to do with anything?”
You looked up to give him a mock glare. “I don’t know maybe the fact that he would know that Lia did not in fact go to the same high school as the two of you.” The look of realization and then panic flashed across Hyunjin’s face.
“What did Chan say?”
“He doesn’t know why we lied but he knows we probably have our reasons and he’s not going to ask about it until we’re ready to talk about it. Your dad is scary,” you complained as you buried your face in his chest again.
“He’s just protective like that,” Hyunjin laughed as he gently rubbed your back.
“We’ll have to explain at some point.”
“Only when you’re ready to reveal it,” you felt the lightest kiss on the top of your head.
It was three months later that one of your worst nightmares came true. Hyunjin called you and it took a while for you to fully understand what he was saying through the noise in the background.
“Someone took photos of us from last night and posted them online,” you finally understood as he shouted for the boys to quiet down.
The two of you had decided to go for a midnight walk along the Han river, sure that it was chilly and late enough that no one else would be around. Clearly, you were wrong as you looked at the photos Hyunjin sent you. It was the two of you holding hands and laughing, you don’t remember what you were laughing at but it must have been something dumb one of you said. If it wasn’t such a gross invasion of privacy you would have thought the photos were cute. You expected to feel panic over the photos and the relationship getting leaked but surprisingly, you felt rather calm. You had been thinking and worrying about your relationship getting revealed for so long that you were almost too mentally prepared. You didn’t realize that you had been way too silent until you heard Hyunjin ask if you were still there.
“Guess we really didn’t notice anyone following us huh,” you said, still feeling rather numb about everything.
“Can I come over?”
“Of course,” you were surprised that he asked since usually he just popped by your studio whenever. You had even given him a spare set of keys.
Thirty minutes later you heard a knock on the door which was not very normal to hear. You opened the door and saw a very nervous Hyunjin standing there, his eyes not quite looking into yours.
“Did you forget your key?” You asked as he followed you in. You sat on the couch and he would have usually joined you but instead, he stood in front of you awkwardly. “Hyunie?”
“Are we going to break up now?” He blurted out suddenly.
“What why?” You were absolutely taken aback and stood up to try and get him to look at you.
“Because now people know,” he said as he looked toward the wall instead of at you.
“Did you want to break up because of that?” You wondered if the company had told him off for dating you.
“No!” He finally snapped his head around to look at you and you saw the tears that threatened to fall from his eyes. You grabbed his hands and gave them a squeeze as you waited for him to tell you what exactly was the matter. “It’s just when we started dating you talked about how it would be impossible to keep your identity hidden if you were to date me and now the photos are out and people might dig around,” he was crying now and you gently pulled him in for a hug.
“I’m not breaking up with you over this.”
“But what about your secret?”
“I used to think that the worst thing that could happen to me was that the public would find out I’m Dahlia and then I realized that there was something much worse than that,” you glanced up and tiptoed to give Hyunjin a peck on the lips. “Losing you would be so much worse,” you said as earnestly as you could. With Hyunjin by your side, you felt like you could do anything, even if it meant the whole world finding you who you were. Hyunjin grabbed the sides of your face and brought you close to him again to kiss you deeper. You circled your arms around his neck and the two of you pulled apart for just a few seconds to look into each other's eyes.
“We should probably tell your members first though before the world finds out,” you sat down on the couch cuddled against Hyunjin as the two of you discussed how things would be going forward. “James is so going to have a field day with pr,” you complained as you buried your head in your hands at the thought. Hyunjin chuckled and you felt the tender vibrations on your back.
“How do you want to tell them?” Hyunjin asked as he gave you a lingering kiss on the back of your head.
“I might have an idea,” you turned your head to look at Hyunjin and gave a smile as bright as his own.
“Wow,” Chan said as he stared at the painting in front of him, a realistic blue wolf sat under the shade of the Acacia tree, eyes clearly alert as it looked off into the distance.
“This explains why I didn’t hear about you at our school,” Jeongin said as he looked at the painting that you presented to him, a cheerful fox that peaked out from behind a vibrant blooming yellow forsythia bush. In fact, all the boys were staring deeply at the paintings that you had painted to represent them.
Changbin couldn’t hide his smile at the bright pink rabbit that nibbled at a blue cornflower. Lee Know stared directly into the eyes of the white rabbit that stood strong in front of a delicate potted orchid. Han had laughed when he saw the quokka that smiled as it looked up at an iris. Felix giggled at the little chick that sat on a branch filled with orange blossom flowers.
“This is meant to be me?” Seungmin asked as he pointed at the painting of a puppy that smiled brightly as it wore an oversized lily of the valley flower as a hat.
“Yeah, what's wrong you don’t like it? You had painted everything as how you saw them from the faint understanding of them you had and some things Hyunjin had told you in passing. You wished that you knew them more but you would have more chances for that now that you revealed your real identity.
“It’s just so… cute,” Seungmin said as he gestured at the painting with his nose scrunched up. Han came over and threw his arm over Seungmin’s shoulder. “That’s you, you’re so cute,” Han said while Seungmin tried to bat him off. Chan ran over and attacked the two of them with a hug as all the other boys laughed and shouted out various versions of “Seungmin cute puppy”.
Hyunjin tightened his grip on your waist as the two of you took in how well everyone was reacting to finding out who you were. You shared a look with him and he leaned to share a kiss with you. At that moment you wanted to paint the exact moment and feeling down to keep it in your memory forever.

Hiiii!! I love your writing a lot!! Would you ever consider a pt 2 of My Beautiful Mistake? I'm wondering how Chan reacted to the letter and if they get back together somehow or move on.
wow I’m so happy you liked it! There was never a plan to make a part two since the idea of My Beautiful Mistake came this from longer piece that I was working on that I felt was too wordy and backstory heavy. So I sort of took the main conflict of that and wrote a shorter more condensed story. I’ll for sure consider it! When I finish this Hyunjin story I’m working on, I’ll brainstorm a bit to see how a part two would look!

Tightly Wound
Pairing: idol Chan x professional dom reader
Genre: honestly idk…mature, bdsm scene, dom reader, first time sub Chan, non romantic bdsm relationship, no real plot just a look at a non romantic BDSM scene. A healthy BDSM scene.
Warning: cursing, no sexual intercourse but mentions of sexual organs, BDSM, punishment (consensual), spanking, whipping, BDSM used as method to de-stress.
Summary: You were supposed to be on vacation but Sana needed your help with a friend of hers. Could you help the wound up stressed out leader of Stray Kids relax? Of course, you were a professional after all.
Word Count: 4.4k
Authors note: this is not an accurate representation of stray kids but an interpretation based on an idea that stems from them.
I don’t know, my brain goes places when sometimes I want Chan to find ways to relax… also there’s too many BDSM fics out there that focus one side of it or honestly just reads like abuse so I thought I'd put more thought into this piece. (reuploaded due to tags broken)
Tumblr media
“Sana I’m literally here on vacation and now you’re telling me that you have work for me?” You complained as you stabbed at the shaved ice in front of you. It had been two years since you last traveled and you were prepared to just kick back, let loose and relax. That was until Sana just told you there was someone she needed your help with.
“It won’t even feel like work I promise! He just needs… a bit of help and you're the perfect one to help him,” Sana assured as she pleaded with her big eyes. You knew better than to trust those eyes though, the things you knew that she could do…
“What is his usual dom busy or something?” you asked with a raised eyebrow only to be met with Sana looking away. “Sana, what’s going on?”
“Look, he’s not technically in the scene, I just know he needs it, right now more than ever and who better to give him his first session than you?”
“Sana this is ridiculous, I’m not here to entertain some newbie who's going to faint at the first sign of some ropes,” you shivered and crossed your arms at the mere thought.
“He’s going to be worth your while I’m sure! Just needs you to show him the ropes,” Sana giggled at her own pun while you just rolled your eyes.
“And you’re pushing him to me instead of taking care of him yourself because?” Sana might look adorable to everyone else but you knew she could play as hard as you could.
“Ew that would be gross, we’ve known each other too long. Besides I’m already his sunbae, it wouldn’t be as fun,” Sana wrinkled her nose at your suggestion while you perked your head up at something she mentioned.
“It’s a member of Stray Kids?” You asked and then cursed yourself as she smiled at you, knowing that you got caught showing interest.
“Not just a member, the leader of Stray Kids.”
And that was how you found yourself sitting in what was known as Chan’s Room in the JYP building room while you were supposed to be on vacation. Chan had welcomed Sana in and she dragged you along on the pretense of introducing her friend from Japan to him. As soon as you saw him you knew why she had been insistent that you needed to help him out. Everything about him screamed tensed up beyond belief. The way his jaw would unconsciously tighten every once in a while, the way he fidgeted in his seat, the way his hands would every so often clench around nothing. The telltale signs of bruises on his knuckles suggested that he boxed without gloves, mostly likely to feel some sort of contact, to feel grounded. A much less healthy way to deal with stress than what you could offer. You caught Sana’s eye as she mouthed “ told you so”. You would definitely be able to help him out if he let you.
“So what is it that you do,” he asked you rather politely, trying to make small talk after Sana introduced your name.
You looked at Sana to ask with your eyes if she was sure this was okay and she gestured with her hands to ‘go ahead’.
“I’m a professional dominatrix,” you stated matter of factly and you saw Chan’s eyes grow wide at your statement.
“I’m sorry what?” He asked clearly thinking that he misheard you.’
“A professional dominatrix,” you repeated as you anticipated how he would react.
“One of the best in Japan,” Sana chimed in as Chan glanced between the two of you with his mouth wide open.
“Oh wow,” he said as he leaned slightly back in his chair, “I was not expecting to hear you say that.”
“Why not?” You asked with a smile on your face but a slight edge in your voice. Sana clearly heard the edge as she sat up a bit straighter in her seat.
“I didn’t mean it in a bad way, it’s just not not a job I’ve interacted with before,” he was quick to explain himself in case you thought that he meant it in a negative way.
“Is it a job you would like to interact with though?” You asked as you leaned a little more towards him. You clearly saw him swallow at your question.
“I’m sorry?” He asked, not quite meeting your eyes.
“Well, a little birdie told me that you’ve been stressed lately and I am reallly good at de-stressing people,” you softened your tone as you put forth the reason that you were sitting in front of him.
Chan gasped as he turned toward Sana, “Noona?” He questioned in shock.
“Look, everyone has been complaining about how wound up you’ve been lately and I know you're under a lot of stress with the new album. She is literally the perfect person to help out with that,” Sana explained with her big innocent eyes like she didn’t just suggest that he needed a Dom to relax him.
“But I- I’m not, I don’t think sex is going to solve-”
“There will be no sexual intercourse,” you carefully cut him off. “How much do you know about sceneing and BDSM Chan,” you saw the pink in his ears at the mention of his name and you internally cooed at how cute he was going to be if this worked out.
“Um not that much, I’ve seen Fifty Shades of Grey,” you and Sana both gagged at the mention of that film.
“Nope no no do not say that name around us,” Sana cried as she rapidly shook her head.
“Ugh, I’d rather you knew nothing at all,” you said as you shivered just thinking about that cursed film.
“What’s wrong with it?” Chan asked, clearly confused at your reactions.
“That’s not a BDSM relationship,” Sana said with a pout.
“It’s just an abusive one,” you finished the thought and the both of you nodded at each other.
“He punished her for using her safe word!” Sana angrily said.
“Piece of shit not worth being called a Dom,” you grumbled.
“Wait Noona, you’re also?” Chan trailed off, not sure how to ask his question while you just laughed.
“Trust me, she would be my rival in Japan if she wasn’t so busy being an idol,” you filled him in on how hard she liked to play while Sana just blushed at your praise.
“Please I could not dare compare to your professionalism,” she praised back and you blew her a kiss. Chan again was staring at the two of you with his mouth wide open.
“Anyway we’re getting off-topic, you’re stressed and I’m currently here on vacation but I’m willing to help a friend of a friend out. The question is, would you like to be helped?” You returned to being more serious as you laid out the question. You saw the conflict flash across Chan’s face as he pondered what you asked.
“I’ll step out and let you two talk this out,” Sana suddenly stood up and said. She recognized that you wanted to turn the conversation more professional and stepped out after giving you both a hug and whispering something into Chan’s ear.
“Look,” Chan said as he rubbed the back of his head and you caught a beautiful glance of his arm muscle in action, “I won’t say I’m not intrigued but I’m also not fully sure what, your help would… mean…” he was clearly uncomfortable but not uncurious.
“Well my primary job would be to help you unwind and that means bringing you down into a headspace that you normally wouldn’t get to on your own. I’m trained in various methods to bring you to that space, and keep you there for however long we agreed beforehand. I can safely bring you up and then take care of you until you come back up to your normal headspace,” you explained carefully using the same explanation that you gave to other first-time sceners. People often think that BDSM was just about rough sex but as a professional, it was more complicated than that. It was a lot more than just sexual intercourse and name calling. You could tell that Chan was getting more intrigued as he took in what you were saying.
“Various methods,” Chan repeated more to himself than to you. His face was getting more pink as he seemed to think over what you said.
“I’m just here to offer you my help Chan, not to force you into anything contrary to what you might think BDSM is,” you leaned back in your seat now to show that the ball was in his court.
“And if I agreed, what exactly would that mean?”
“Well, we would set some basic boundaries, discuss what you need and what you're comfortable with, and then schedule a time for your session,” you held out your hand for him to shake, “you in?”
He hesitated for a bit before he took your hand. “Yes”.
At exactly 6:30 there was a knock on your hotel door and you opened it to reveal a very clearly nervous Chan. You led him in as you took in how extremely nice he looked in a black button-down shirt and black ripped jeans that nicely hugged his thighs. Sana had known that you wouldn’t be able to resist his physical appearance. As soon as you closed the door behind Chan he blurted out, “ I can’t do this”.
You weren’t surprised, you knew that he probably spent so long overthinking this session that he spooked himself.  You turned to face him and told him calmly, “alright you’re welcome to leave”. You were very calm as you walked over to the mini fridge to grab the two bottles of water you stored there earlier.
“I am?” He asked the shock clear in his voice and you couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Chan, I'm not keeping you, hostage, you know. If you’re not comfortable about the arrangement or you just want to go, you’re welcome to do that,” you handed him a bottle of water that he took without much thinking.
“You’re not upset that I’m backing out at the last second?” He asked and you cursed that stupid movie in your head a few more times.
“No I’m not upset and I’m not going to be upset. Contrary to popular belief, I’m not a Dom that wants to own you, I’m just here to help you,” you explained with a small sigh as you patted him on the head. “If you need to go or you want to reschedule that’s perfectly fine.” In your eyes Chan looked like a scared little puppy and you treated him as gently as you could. He seemed to ponder over what you said as he opened up the water and took a sip.
“No I actually do want to do this, I’m just, really nervous.”
“I understand, it’s not easy giving someone else control,” you and Chan had discussed the things that brought him the most stress lately and a lot of it boiled down to his need to be in control. How he spent so much of his younger life as a trainee without control that now he had a hard time giving it up. “I know we don’t know each other super well but I’m going to need you to trust me enough to let me take control. Know that I won’t endanger you and I’m here to help you,” you held out your hand again just as you did in his room when you guys worked out the details of the session.
He took your hand and brought it gently to his lips. “I trust you,” he said as he gave your hand a light kiss.
“You ready?” You asked as you placed both the water bottles on the table.
Chan took a deep breath and said,” yes”.
You rolled your head a bit and closed your eyes for a few seconds as you got internally ready. When you opened your eyes you immediately said, “strip and kneel” to Chan as you went to sit on the bed. To his credit, he was quick to unbutton his shirt and pants but he hesitated when it came to his underwear. He glanced at you and you gave him a nod before he pulled his underwear off and knelt down on his knees from where he stood. He placed his hands out in front of him and stared at the floor just in front of his knees.
You had to hold in the thoughts about how impressive his figure was. Beautifully sculpted muscles that you wanted to reach out and squeeze as you praised him but that would maybe come later, depending on how good he was for you. The first step as you both had agreed was that he needed to be punished.  Before even that though you needed to go over the rules.
“While we are in the scene you will refer to me as Madam, is that clear?” You saw him nod but that was not what you wanted. “Verbal confirmation Channie,” you ordered.
“Yes Madam,” he answered obediently and you watched his whole body slightly redden.
“Good boy,” you see the red deepen at your praise. It was always a risk with first-timers to see what they reacted to and how well but you were ecstatic to see how Chan was reacting so far. You carefully walked over to where he was kneeling, making sure to take slow steps to see the tension in his body as he waited for you to stand in front of him. “It’s just too bad you aren’t always a good boy, isn’t that right Channie?” There was no response to your question and so you squatted down and reached your hand onto his hair to tightly grab at a bit of it, not pulling just exerting enough force to make sure he felt it. “I asked a question.”
“Yes Madam,” he answered, his voice shaking slightly. You kept your hand where it was but loosened your grip a little bit.
“Yes, Channie has been a bad boy so he’s going to get punished today, does Channie know why he’s going to get punished?”
“Yes madam,” his voice came out much more strained and you looked down to notice that he was already fully hard. You licked your lips out of his view at how well he was taking everything.
“Well, why is Channie getting punished?” You asked as you moved your hand away from his hair and settled on gently stroking the side of his throat. He would look amazing with a black leather collar on, you thought before you realized how far ahead of yourself you were getting.
“Because I don’t take care of myself and I don’t ask for help when I need it so I end up overworking myself,” he stuttered out clearly uncomfortable with saying the words out loud. His reason for punishment had been something the two of you discussed beforehand when you were trying to figure out why he was so stressed. He was under a lot of pressure from the company but he also gave himself too much pressure and often overworked himself to a frightening extent. You were there to make sure he saw how bad that was.
“That’s right, you don’t take care of yourself and then end up tired and cranky and you take it out on everyone around you,” you tsked as you stood up and moved away. Chan let out a sound that sounded very much like a whimper. He still kept his eyes down in front of him but you saw that his gaze was much less steady than at the start.
“That’s why I’m going to punish you, so you can learn from this and become a good boy.” Chan let out another whimper that sounded absolutely beautiful in your ears. You couldn’t imagine how another Dom hadn’t already scooped him up, he was a Dom’s dream. “During your punishment, you are not allowed to pleasure yourself or use me to pleasure yourself in any way. If you feel like you are going to come then you must use your pause word and we will continue when the feeling has passed. Do you understand?”
“Yes, Madam.”
“If at any point you need to use the safe word or pause word please do so and know that you will not be punished for using them. If you use the pause word we will take a moment to assess what needs to be changed and if you use the safe word we will halt everything and I will immediately begin aftercare.” You made sure you emphasized the not as you thought back to that stupid movie. “Do you remember your pause word and safe words?”
“Yellow for pause and red for stop,” Chan diligently repeated the words you had taught him.
“Good boy,” you purred out. Just because he was being punished didn’t mean that you wouldn’t praise him when he was due praise. “I’m going to spank you, and you're going to keep counting until I stop, then I’m going to whip you 8 times, one time for each hour of sleep that you should be getting.” The punishment had also been something the two of you discussed beforehand, usually, you’d like to keep it a surprise but for a first-time punishment you wanted to lay out what he needed to expect.
“I understand Madam.”
“Come here Channie,” your voice softer now that you were getting to the actual punishment. You were going to handle him a bit more delicately than your usual clients to ease him in. He stood up, legs wobbly from kneeling so long, and made his way to you. You pulled him down so that he laid across your legs. His hardon pressed into your thighs but you made no mention of it.
You admired the plumpness of his ass for a moment before you raised your hand and hit him hard on the right cheek. The loud smack against flesh rang out in the room. Chan let out a loud yelp of surprise before he shakily said, “one”. Already his soft white flesh was turning pink at the impact of your hand. You wait a few seconds to let the anticipation build up before you slapped again at the same spot. Then you sped up and switched between the two cheeks making sure that you didn’t follow any particular rhythm that he could predict. Chan tried to hold in his voice after the first yelp but he still let out little gasps and whimpers at each hit before he called out the number. His voice had gotten shakier with each number but still, he didn’t miss a single one. You paused midway through to rub at the hot tender flesh and he let out a small hiss of discomfort.
“Hurts doesn’t it Channie?”
“Yes, it hurts.”
“This is what happens to bad boys,” you continued to rub and then without warning landed another slap.
“AH! 25,” Chan let out a scream and then the number as he jolted in your lap.
“Don’t move,” you said in a sterner tone and he whimpered a soft sorry.
As you continue his counts started to slow down and his words were becoming more and more slurred together. You stopped at the 42nd slap and by then you knew he at least had dropped a little bit, not where you wanted yet but he was getting there. His breathing was more labored as he let out little gasps and each whimper sounded almost like a laugh before he said the number aloud.
You grabbed the tiny whip that you had placed on the bed earlier when you were prepping. It was much smaller and less sturdy than what you preferred but it was the only one that you could find at such short notice. You cursed your past self for not thinking ahead to pack more toys. You had brought ropes and restraints but nothing that wouldn’t leave a mark, something he had told you would not be okay. You let the edges of the whip dangle over the bright red flesh of his ass just ghosting over the flesh.
“Now I’m going to whip you 8 times and after each strike of the whip, you're going to apologize for not taking better care of yourself. Do you understand?”
“Yes madam,” it took him a few seconds to reply to you as if his brain needed a moment to understand your words.
You shifted to take a look at his face, the material of your jeans brushed against his hard cock and he let out a moan. You were honestly surprised at how well he was handling not coming but then again he had told you that he aimed to please. His eyes were completely glazed over and he had his mouth wide open, a wet spot of drool underneath. His cheeks were flushed red as he lightly painted. You gently brushed your hands through his sweaty head. You would frame a picture of how he looked at the moment if you could.
You whipped him once, lighter than you would normally, careful not to break the skin. His whole body shook as he choked out an “I’m sorry”. You finished the whipping quickly as you could tell he was already dropping fast. With each loud thwack, he let out a sob and an apology. With the last strike, his body went completely limp, and every inch of tension faded away. He was practically like a puddle of water in your lap. He was still muttering little “I’m sorry”s and you saw the wet spot grow larger with the tears that he gasped out. You threw the whip aside, the loud thunk made Chan jump a little and you laid down on the bed as you used your strength to pull Chan’s body so that it covered yours, carefully to not hurt his bruised ass in the transition.
“I’ve got you now Channie,” you said as you wrapped one arm around his back and another placed on the back of his head and pushed him closer to your body. “It’s okay I’ve got you, you were so good, such a good boy,” as you gently patted his head you heard his cries get louder and louder as he was wailing into your shoulder, body still limp. “Such a good boy took everything so well,” you cooed at him as you pressed a kiss against the side of his head. You continued to hold him as he cried until the tears died down and he just lay there sniffling and snuggling into your neck. “Channie I have some ointment for your ass, I’m going to go get it hmm?” You tried to shift so that he was lying on the bed instead of you but his head snapped up at your movement and there was a look of utter heartbreak in his eyes. He moved his arms to trap you under him in a tight hug.
“Channie, I’ll be right back, just gotta take care of your ass so you’ll be at least able to sit down tomorrow,” you cooed at him as you took both your hands to cup his face.
“Don’t leave, please don’t leave,” Chan cried out as he buried his head into your chest. You chuckled lightly as you rubbed your hands on his back and neck. He was such a perfect little sub, you would have loved to collar him and make him yours. But you couldn’t do that, at least not until he was back up and aware.
“Alright Channie, I’m not going anywhere, let’s just cuddle, if you feel sleepy, go ahead and sleep, I’ve got you,” you lightly kissed the top of his head and he let out a little giggle through his tears. It didn’t take longer than five minutes for him to fall asleep, the experience clearly took a lot out of him. You shimmied your way out of his hold, using a pillow to replace yourself in his arms. You went over to your suitcase and grabbed the perfectly curated aftercare travel bag out and took out a few cotton pads as well as the cooling aloe gel. You walked back to where Chan lay and took a moment to admire your work. His ass was a mixture of reds and purples with dark angry red lines from the whip spread across. You carefully coated the soft cotton with the cool gel and began to spread it over the hot flesh. Chan groaned and shifted a bit as you tended to him but he did not awaken. You looked at how clean and white his back was and you wanted to make it up with rope marks and red lines and purple hickies but he had made clear that there were to be no visible marks. You lightly touched the small of his back and placed a light kiss there, maybe someday.
You grabbed the duvet you had moved to the couch and spread it over Chan before you shimmied your way back under his arms. You accidentally jarred him a little too much and he opened one eye lazily to see what had disturbed him. “Shhhh it’s just me Channie, it’s okay, go back to sleep,” you gently patted his head in apology for moving him too much. He flashed you a lazy smile and tightened his grip around you before nuzzling into your neck again. You gently closed your eyes as you felt his little breaths against your neck.
