It really truly broke my heart at how devastatingly convinced Eda was that she wasn't the mother-figure to Luz and King that she wanted to be.
But then Raine took one look at the photo of Eda, Luz, and King, and quickly connected the dots. They automatically assumed that the two kids in that photo were Eda's children.
And the way Raine asked, too. Their voice was so full of emotion, so full of... disbelief that Eda was so willing to leave these kids behind.
And when Eda denied that Luz and King needed her, and was nearly driven to self-sacrifice out of despair over how convinced she was of that?
Raine instantly stopped what they were doing and made sure Eda knew that even though they didn't know who these kids were, they were absolutely sure that they needed her.
