another update

they really like the underneath of my bed for some reason and sunny will meow until i open the door for him and moon to run in and tackle each other under my bed

spending time this week to let myself prepare for the kittens and draw some pets!

expect the queue to have some stuff by next week! i've been leaving you guys hangin for a bit too long methinks

i have a doc full of petfinder profiles i need to draw and i promise i'll be getting to them

i was hoping to fill the queue last week but the excitement and prep for Sunny and Moon (Formally Caramel and Brownie) pushed the plans outta my mind and now that im taking care of them my energy to sit down and draw with my mouse has been quite low </3

i do hope by next week there will be some in the queue! i'll be at my dad's this weekend so that (unfortunately) separates me from the kits but it will let my mind be able to focus on drawing!

and as for an update on said kits: they're doing great! they're eating and drinking and playing, all good kitten stuff :]

they're also getting used to the dog! Moonshine's less keen on him but SunnyD seems to like him somewhat. Linc, the dog, is not aggressive to them in any way! he is very sweet, but he's much bigger than the kits and his way of playing scares them a little </3 we make sure to let them interact supervised! we let them sniff each other out at their own pace

but yeah! that's about all! i just gave them baths and they got a nice meal so they'll most likely be napping for a little bit. Here's some fun photos for yall :]

#bathroom is a temp setup while we get them used to the house and the dog #lincoln is okay around them abeit a bit nervous #brownie/moon wants none of it she is not a fan of linc so far 😭 #trust me i wouldn't have had them see each other yet but my mom thought letting them sniff each other out meant holding moon while linc #sniffs her #guess who got a couple claw marks on her face from trying to introduce them like that!!! #muscle man voice MY MOM #she's okay lol barely grazed her but it certainly says something here when i say #'hey we should get them situated and comfy before introducing them' #'okay yeah we get it' proceeds to keep holding moon near her face while the dog sniffs #girl you have admitted i have more cat knowledge than you maybe listen to me for once 😭 #anyway not gonna get into that in the tags of a cute tumblr post #i was zonked out yesterday so sorry for the late update #we chillin #sunfyre and moondancer #caramel brownie

WE GOT EM!!! they are chillin in the carrier and we have a room setup for them at home ready! they appear okay for now, albeit a bit nervous about the carrier and the car but we'll be home soon

aww i found my black tabby on pet finder! His name was Chuwy. We changed it to Sir Lancot, and then when we brought him home discovered that the name chuwy was more accurate than we thought. He bites all the time- little play bites, not too rough. Ofc he is only 2 so hopefully it'll calm down as he gets older but... chuwy was a good name. i still like sir lancelot better !!

that's awesome!! Chuwy does seem to fit him quite well lol

Caramel is super similar in terms of biting, he wouldn't stop nibbling on my jacket and fingers when i held him akjdhkdfgj

guess who's getting adopted next week!!!!

we're visiting the foster home today so i'm gonna be able to see caramel and brownie again!

hopefully they won't be as overstimulated as last time, i know they were really sleepy from being around a lot of people at the petco

genuinely kinda surprised i havent seen anyone else try it before me, it's super fun to just sit down and draw random critters from petfinder and learn about them

i recently doodled a ferret (which will be in the posting queue soon once i finish some other doodles!) and i got to learn about their different fur patterns!!!

also being able to help these critters get adopted faster makes me happy :] i hope linking their profiles encourages people to check them out and possibly adopt them they deserve good homes

pretend i didn't just reblog this on my main by accident

mom and i met Caramel! along with Brownie and the other foster kitties :]

his fur is much longer now! i don't think he's actually a domestic shorthair like how he was listed LOL

he's also very sweet! he was pretty sleepy when we got there because he was playing with Brownie in the crate and im sure being around so many strangers tires a little guy like him out

he was very interested in chewing on my jacket and fingers and then he started falling asleep in my arms i wanted to cry i was so happy

ANYWAY this is why i've been really slow on the pet paints these past few days! i've been researching literally everything about owning cats, kittens specifically, and making sure i have enough knowledge to care for him (and possibly Brownie if we convince my step dad!)

we're gonna, hopefully, be filling out adoption forms for this little cheeto! i'm so excited

it's gonna be a few more weeks before we actually sign anything because my mom is going out of town for a week and we don't want to leave him alone right after bringing him home LOL

the shelter does home visits as well to make sure everything's good for the cat! so even if we filled them out now it would still be a couple weeks before we brought him home

#also a bit unrelated but the foster lady was really nice and i got to impress her with my cat autism #im not kidding when i say i've done HOURS of research on these beasts they're a big special interest for me lol #answering #caramel

Oh my gosh your blog has inspired me to do the same with outlining pens and colored pencils. This summer will be so much fun

hell yeah dude!

drawing animals is so much fun and i love learning the shape language of them all

branching out and drawing pets in all the categories is really good drawing exercises as well, for me anyway

just seeing how the bodies are shaped and learning how to draw new things is just fun to me!
