Baby fever kicking in 🥺
https://www.tumblr.com/mandarinmoons/746904302327644160/cute-new-dad-spencer-with-baby-and-hes-all | i need to see baby Bailey taking her first steps and Spencer being a little too emotional 🥲 mb she falls on her butt but she’s still all giggly and Spencer is intently recording and softly cheering her on to share with the team <3
Sorry that it's so short 😅
“C’mon sweetie, you can do it!” Spencer coos at her daughter as he’s holding up his phone towards your direction.
You were helping Bailey stay up on her feet as you were practicing on taking her first steps. Her legs were a bit wobbly, but she had started to stay up on her feet more and more, so it was only a matter of time until she took her first steps.
Spencer was extremely keen on documenting his little girl’s achievements, even though he has an eidetic memory he still insists on taking pictures, videos and keeping the smallest of keepsakes from her first outings.
Bailey laughed as Spencer kept making funny faces her way, she was known as a daddy’s girl and what better way to have her run to his father’s arms than to make her laugh.
“Okay sweetie, go to daddy now,” you slowly removed your arms from your daughter and hoped that she wouldn’t hurt herself.
Bailey took a step forward, and then another step and, boom, she fell on her little butt. However, a giggle fell from her mouth instead of a cry and both you and Spencer smiled at each other.
Before you were able to help the girl up on her feet again, Bailey managed to stand up on her own and ran into Spencer’s arms.
“I’m so proud of you!” Spencer set his phone down to make room for Bailey, he took her in his arms and kissed her head.
You walked over to the two of them, sitting down next to Spencer as you watched Bailey cling onto his shirt, a smile on all of your faces.

How adorable! You just know Bailey is only gonna say momma to Spencer and vice versa. Just because she finds it to be silly
Hi! I thought of a request I thought would be cute 🥰
Spencer and female reader have a toddler daughter who’s just learning to talk. She says mama for the first time while with Spencer and dada for the first time with reader and they’re both so excited that she said the others name but also trying to hide it so the other isn’t disappointed they missed it
(In my head they’re both in the bau but that probably doesn’t matter)
(Hope this makes sense!)
It is cute x
Ever since Bailey was born you decided to take some time off from the BAU so you could give your full attention to your sweet girl. Spencer was adamant about being the one to take care of her, but knowing you it would be a waste to put up a fight.
As the time passes Bailey keeps on growing and so do the smiles on yours and Spencer’s faces. Her looks were starting to come through and it was no doubt that she had inherited Spencer’s genes, her eyes were just as puppy dog-like as her dad’s and she also had small curly bits of hair at the sides of her face, it was the most precious thing.
Walking was already established, both you and Spencer told each other stories of how Bailey would run into each of yours arms whenever either of you would have some alone time with her. In fact, there were some other things both of you had experienced.
One morning when making breakfast you heard Bailey making her usual little sounds. You looked over at her and saw the sparkle in her little brown eyes and chuckled. You finished making her porridge and walked over to her.
“Okay baby… oh, wait, forgot your spoon,” as soon as you turned your back you heard Bailey speak again, except this time an actual word came out of her mouth.
“Dadda.”
Your eyes went big and you turned around quickly and looked at your daughter.
“What did you say?”
“Dadda!”
A tear pricked to your eyes and a wide grin spread across your face, your baby just said her first word.
“Oh my god Bailey! Do you miss your daddy?”
“Dadda! Dadda!
You giggled at Bailey’s cheering and ruffled her hair, “Don’t worry baby, daddy will be home soon enough.”
The day goes on and soon enough Spencer is home.
“Hey there daddy.”
Spencer chuckled and walked over to his girls, he gave you a kiss and took Bailey into his arms.
“You’re never going to believe what happened today.”
“Oh yeah? What happened?”
“Bailey said her first word!”
Spencer’s eyes went big and looked over at his daughter, “Really?”
“Mhm, and you know what the word was?”
“Hmm, what was it? Huh Bailey, what did you say?”
“Momma!”
Hearing the word that came out of the little girl’s mouth made your jaw drop, that was not the same word that you had heard earlier today.
“Wait what, Bailey you said “dadda” earlier.”
“She did?”
You nodded and chuckled, “I didn’t know she could say that.”
“Well uh… I did.”
“What?”
“Well, remember last week when you went out to the store, yeah Bailey said it as soon as you left.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?!”
“I wanted to, believe me! But we got caught up watching cartoons and I sort of uh, forgot.”
“And I thought you were one to never forget things.”
Spencer chuckled and sat down next to you with Bailey on his lap, “I’m sorry honey, but good thing is that we were her first words.”
“Yeah I guess, still I wish I would’ve been there to hear it.”
“And I wish I could’ve been here when she said “daddy” for the first time.”
“Dadda!”
Both you and Spencer looked at each other and laughed, “Well may not have been the first time, but it’s one of the first.”

It’s seriously amazing! I gotta find time to finish going through your masterlist, starting now!
Spencer was lying on his couch completely motionless, cradling a book into his chest, the same book that you had gifted him. His eyes were bloodshot from crying and a lack of sleep, it had been nearly two weeks since you passed, two weeks since he hadn’t been able to save you.
It was quiet in the apartment, usually the ticking sound of the grandfather clock could be heard in the background, but it hadn’t been wound in a good while and Spencer hadn’t noticed it. His mind was too busy playing back the last scenes of seeing you alive, a vicious cycle that he had no control over.
Sometimes Spencer swore that he heard your voice when he closed his eyes, it felt so lifelike that his eyes shot open and he frantically looked from side to side hoping, praying that all the events that took place were a horrible dream and that you were safe and still with him. However, when the silence was the only thing to be heard and he noticed that he was still wearing your cardigan, the hope came crashing down and his head hit the pillow again in a thud, it wasn’t real, it was his mind playing tricks on him again.
When his body gave in and Spencer finally fell asleep, his dreams were all filled with you. The two of you sitting at a table in a cafe, soft music playing in the background and the smell of the freshly brewed drinks filling your noses.
Spencer would slide his arm over the table to take your hand in his, but your hand would feel cold. The only time he was able to hold it was when he ran toward your lifeless body and took your hand in his to feel for a pulse that wasn’t there anymore.
Spencer would feel his chest tighten in his dream, but the image of you in his mind wouldn’t let him associate your passing with the last moments of seeing you alive. The dream version of you was determined to remind him of all the joyous times spent together instead, all the time spent sending each other letters, which later turned to phone calls. Spencer still remembers the first time he heard your laugh and how he knew that it would become one of his favorite sounds.
As time went on Spencer felt your hand getting warmer and the hold you had on him felt stronger. Spencer didn’t know what was going on, but the dream no longer felt like a dream, but as if it was a moment in real life. Your face was no longer hazy and he could clearly make out all of your features. He knew that this could be his final time seeing you and he wanted to treasure it as much as he could.
Eventually he woke up and saw that hours had passed, it was his first time having a proper sleep in weeks and he finally felt a bit lighter. What had happened made absolutely no sense to Spencer, it could’ve been his brain protecting him from any further emotional pain, or, maybe it was you coming to him in his dreams to tell him that you’re alright, whatever it was, he was thankful for it.

I thought this was gonna be a breakup blurb… the first sentence was comforting. Then I died?!?! 😭😭 but the ending was sweet!

Absolutely adorable!
baby wearing
spencer reid x fem!reader, fluff
w/c: 465
welcome to the spencer reid dilf agenda: blurb edition. re: spencer reid. baby wearing. that is all.
Tumblr media
You felt his presence over your shoulder as he watched you maneuver the baby on the bed. Her eyes were closing as Spencer reached over and cupped her head with his hand, causing her to watch him with wonder while drifting off into a, hopefully, deep slumber.
The newborn was resting on your bed as you pulled the silky fabric that would secure her to you off of the comforter. You knew that your window of opportunity was closing quickly and soon enough she’d start crying. Spencer had told you that, by being held, she’d learn a sense of security, comfort, nurturing, and warmth.
At two weeks old, she spent more time being held than anything else, so you hoped she felt like the most secure, comforted, nurtured, and warm baby in the world.
“Can I try it?” Spencer asked, eyeing the cloth that you were holding as your daughter squawked impatiently, needing to be held again.
You halted your movements, turning your head to look at him curiously. “You want to babywear her?”
He nodded enthusiastically, hazel eyes flickering between you and the baby. “She seems to like it,” he observed.
She couldn’t talk, but being cocooned in a sling with her mom always seemed to calm her down when she was fussy. You assumed that Spencer was correct, your baby enjoyed being close to people.
The two of you were trying to get as much bonding time in between Spencer and the baby as possible before he had to go back to work, skin-to-skin, bottle feeding. You were willing to try anything, but you didn’t want to force it on him. So, if he wanted to babywear her, then you’d show him how to do it.
He was wearing a T-shirt, which was probably for the best. You didn’t know how she’d react to buttons or zippers, but you kept an eye on her while handing Spencer the wad of fabric. Without missing a beat, he started wrapping the cloth around himself, “Am I doing this right?”
Nodding, you helped Spencer wrap the silky fabric around his torso and shoulders. Luckily, he’s watched you do it enough times in the past two weeks that he had a pretty good idea about where to tie and where to tuck. “Now, she just needs to rest on your chest, and you can pull the fabric over.” You helped guide his hands until you were sure she was secure.
Watching him, you smiled softly as he shushed the newborn when she stirred while being moved.
“What are you thinking?” He asked, gently rubbing the baby’s back through the cloth. She had likely already fallen asleep, keeping warm and remaining comforted by her father.
Your grin remained pasted on your face, “It’s a good look on you.”

Tumblr media
in which penelope hosts a new year's eve party. with a murder mystery theme.
who? spencer reid x fem!journalist!reader
category: fluff, slice of life
content warnings: all of the characters are dressed as detectives. marriage, murder, mentions of blood, fireworks, slight descriptions of fake violence, reader wears a dress, this is very haphazardly proofread. very slightly suggestive in the beginning if you squint.
word count: 2.95k
a/n: happy new year's eve friends! this idea has been rotting in my brain since i read the prompt. i started with the idea that i wanted reader and kristy to win and a dream, and now here i am. it was genuinely so much fun to write. (and now i have spencer x journalist!reader brain rot) i always see people writing for these challenges but this is my first time participating!
i wrote this for @imagining-in-the-margins' office party challenge based on the prompt "Penelope planned a Murder Mystery party... with a bunch of criminal profilers. Great. (Bonus if a non-profiler wins)" thank you so much for this challenge!
Tumblr media
“I have no idea why Penelope felt the need to rent an AirBnB for a New Year’s Eve party,” you whispered, getting out of the car along with Spencer. “Or why we had to dress in costume,” you said, pulling your shawl over your shoulders.
Gently reaching over, Spencer tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ears, “It’s a Penelope Garcia party, that means it’s a production. Additionally, this is the first New Year's Eve we’ve been in town in four years, which means there’s no need for an MHM.”
Grinning up at your fiancé, you responded, “There does seem to be a moratorium on violent crime this holiday season.” The best Christmas gift you received this year was finding Spencer sleeping in bed next to you when you woke up.
You watched him reach into the back of the car for his jacket. The costume description Garcia had given him was similar to what he wore on a normal day. You helped him pick out the brown sweater vest and matching tie, but he selected the rest of the ensemble. “Did I tell you that you look incredible?” He asked, pulling his jacket on.
“I believe those were the words that caused us to be fifteen minutes late, Dr. Reid,” you chided but smiled nonetheless when Spencer pulled you close and embraced you.
You felt him smile against your neck, “Worth it,” he whispered.
Dragging him by the arm, you stood on the porch and knocked on the door. Almost instantly, a familiar voice rang out, “You have to use the knocker!” Penelope called out.
Sighing, you rolled your eyes and took the bronze adornment in your hand and knocked it against the red-painted door. The heavy door swung open and you were greeted by Penelope Garcia, “Welcome Dr. Reid and Someday Mrs. Reid, to the New Year’s party that will, likely, be the New Year’s party to end all New Year’s parties.”
“I have no doubt, Pen,” you stepped forward and hugged her. “You look great, I love this color,” you told her, settling your hands on your shoulders. She wore a lime green button-down dress with an old-timey collar, and her blonde locks were pulled up into a French twist.
Spencer and Penelope greeted each other, and Garcia led the two of you to a sitting room, “Where did you find this house?” Spencer asked, walking in behind you.
She waved him off, “I am the master of all things Internet, I found it online and thought it was perfect.”
Your heels clicked as you followed the two of them. They were quicker, Penelope knew where she was going and Spencer naturally had a long stride, not to mention the restriction of your gown. “Perfect for what, exactly?” You inquired.
“A BAU Murder Mystery party!” She answered as if it was obvious.
A wolf whistle from the other side of the room caught your attention, you turned around to see Tara grinning at you, “Well how about you.”
Blushing, you spread the skirt of the red silk dress out and gave a fake curtsy, “Oh this? Just something I had lying around.” In reality, you borrowed the dress from a coworker. Its only fault was being just barely too long for you.
Once you observed Tara’s costume, an off-white button-up with brown suspenders and matching pants, the gears in your head clicked into place. “We’re dressed as characters from Clue?” You asked, looking at everyone’s costumes. It all suddenly made so much sense, you were Miss Scarlet, and Tara was meant to be Colonel Mustard.
“Well, there are only so many characters to choose from, so I needed some other detectives to choose from. I picked Nancy Drew, Spencer is Sherlock Holmes with Matt as his Watson, and Krystall is Jessica Fletcher from the renowned television show Murder She Wrote.” Penelope pointed at guests as she explained their outfits, “Kristy is Daphne of the differently renowned television show Scooby Doo, and Luke refused to dress up at Hercule Poirot.”
Your eyebrows raised up, “I didn’t know not dressing up was an option,” you admitted. Despite the weather being unseasonably warm, you were still cold in your dress.
Sending a pointed look in Luke’s direction, Penelope cleared her throat before responding, “It wasn’t.”
Putting a hand to his chest in mock hurt, Luke feigned shock, “I did dress up as a very famous detective. Matt Simmons of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit.”
“But does that really count as famous?” The man himself, Matt asked teasingly.
In response, Luke gestured around the room, “Everyone here has heard of him.”
You tuned the two of them out. When provided the time, the two of them could bicker for hours. You looked at everyone else’s costumes, the rest of the group was from the board game. Emily was Mrs. White, Rossi was Professor Plum, JJ was Mrs. Peacock, and Will was Mr. Green.
The BAU spent so much time sequestered solving crimes that it was a wonder to have the entire group here at the same time.
After effectively shushing Luke, Penelope made her way to the center of the room, “Okay, I know what you’re all thinking ‘Penelope, we spend all of our days solving murders, why would you plan a murder mystery party?’” She stood up straight, pushing her shoulders back, “Well, I’ll tell you, the idea for this party came to me when I had the flu last month.”
“Are you telling us this party was conceived from a fever dream?” Emily asked, she leaned forward in her all-white outfit, resting her elbows on her knees.
Pointing at Emily, Penelope grinned, “That is exactly what I am telling you, my dear. Now, let me set the stage for you.” She clapped and the lights went out, bringing everyone’s attention to a projector screen that had just lit up against the only bare wall in this room. “Our victim was a resident of this house. What’s her name? You might ask. Patricia Gomez, heiress to a large fortune and a company that makes socks.”
A quiet chuckle came from the other side of the room, “This is quite the fever dream.” You had to agree with Rossi, Patricia Gomez was an almost painfully uncreative name. Still, everyone went along with it.
“Save all questions until the end, please!” Penelope scolded, “I have folders made up for each of you, with information on where your characters all were at the time of the murder. Before attending this party, the killer was already notified of their status, they may try to fool you.”
You skimmed through the folder that the technical analyst had handed you, it looked like a real FBI folder, but you didn’t doubt that Garcia had resources to make realistic fake files. The body had been found, stabbed in the kitchen, the time of death set at noon.
Matt stood up first, reaching out his hand for Kristy to take, but they didn’t get far. “Oh no, no partnering with your partners,” Penelope said, laying down another rule for her party.
“What are you saying?” Spencer asked, looking between you and her. It was sweet knowing that he had wanted to team up with you, it reminded you of how you first met. The FBI profiler and the investigative journalist.
Garcia sighed, “If you are canoodling with someone, you may not investigate with them.”
You shrugged at Spencer and walked toward Kristy instead, “What do you say, Daphne? Shall we?”
“Oh, I think we shall,” Kristy responded, hooking her arm through yours.
“Hey,” Luke interrupted, “It’s not fair for the investigative journalist and the lawyer to be teamed up to solve a murder.”
Stopping in your tracks, you stared at him for a moment, “Luke, you work for the FBI. If anything, I think we’re at a disadvantage.”
Together, you and Kristy made your way to the kitchen, as you walked away you heard Luke ask Garcia to be his partner, the two of you laughed as she told him she wasn’t playing because, “Somebody has to keep things organized, Newbie!”
Looking around the kitchen, you found a chalk outline, but not much else. Of course, this wasn’t a real crime scene, there would be no blood, and for all you knew, Kristy was the killer.
“What are you thinking, Dave?” You asked Rossi, who had teamed up with JJ. Maybe a seasoned profiler would push you in the right direction.
He cocked his head like he was weighing his options, “Well, the folder says there were only four people in the building at the time of the murder, and only one of them was close enough to the kitchen to pull it off. Logically, the best option is Mrs. White.”
So, he thought Emily was responsible. You scrawled some notes down about the kitchen before you and Kristy decided to move to the bedroom, “It says Watson – Matt - was in the main bedroom at the time of the murder, Mrs. White – Emily - was in the pantry, Jessica Fletcher – Krystall – was in the basement, and Professor Plum – Rossi – was in the library,” you read from the file.
“Then Dave is right, Emily is the only one who was close enough to get to Patricia,” Kristy reasoned. There wouldn’t have been time for anyone else to commit the crime in between the time the body was found and the time of death. The timeline of events was very short.
You shrugged, “Then I guess we could probably go to the library until the timer runs out.” Picking up the skirt of your dress, the two of you left the bathroom and walked into the library. Leaning up against the shelves, you intertwined your fingers in front of you, “Do you have plans for the new year?” You asked Kristy, tilting your head.
She hummed, “A lot of our plans tend to change. You know, with Matt’s job and the kids, but we’d like to take some kind of vacation, even if it’s just a day trip.” She answered, brushing her long hair over her shoulder, “What about you?”
“Oh,” you said, “You know, getting married.” You answered, “Then we’re just planning on seeing where life takes us, I think. You’re right, it’s hard to plan around the job. I can’t imagine adding kids into the mix.” The thought gave you a whole new respect for Kristy – and Will, for that matter.
Kristy smiled, “Totally worth it, though.”
Laughing it off, you pushed yourself off of the shelving, “I think I’ll take your word for it,” you responded. “For now,” you added, looking around the library.
“What’s wrong?” She asked, following your gaze around the library.
Realizing this must be how the BAU feels all the time, you answered, “Something is bothering me about this case.” Kristy beckoned for you to go on, “They all solve crimes like this every day, so in order to make it fun for them, Penny would have to make it at least a little bit of a challenge, right?” You asked.
“You think it was too easy?” Kristy asked.
You started pacing around the library, along the front of the desk. “The answer being Emily is too easy. There has to be something more to it.”
“Well, the file says she had experienced a blow to the head shortly before her death. So, is it possible she was incapacitated somewhere else and then moved to the kitchen to be killed?” Kristy asked, flipping through the file, she was sat on top of the wooden desk.
Nodding, you looked at the generated picture of your fake victim. She wore a large ruby necklace, her hair was pinned up, but in the list of effects and evidence, a necklace was never mentioned. “Did you see a necklace in the kitchen?” You asked, flicking your eyes over in her direction.
Immediately, she shook her head you spun around to go back to the kitchen. Mid-spin the heel of your shoe hooked into the too-long fabric of your dress, causing you to tumble ungracefully to the floor. “Are you alright?” Kristy asked. Not for the first time tonight, you found yourself jealous of her shorter dress. Damned board game characters.
Groaning in response, you blinked in an attempt to reorient yourself. In your peripheral vision, something caught your eye: a necklace. “Kristy,” you whispered urgently, hoisting yourself up into a sitting position before reaching over to grab the gold chain. It was crusted with something red that you could only hope was ketchup. Unless Penelope was taking this game way too seriously.
You lifted the chain curiously. “That’s the necklace that Patricia was wearing when she died!” Kristy exclaimed, “But that means…”
“Rossi did it,” you said from the floor. “And he tried to fool us with his poker face.”
Setting the necklace on the desk, you reached down to take your heels off. Kristy spoke, “Do you think the necklace is enough evidence for us to make our case?”
Raising your eyebrows, you looked up at her, “I don’t know. You’re the lawyer, do you think it’s enough evidence?”
She nodded, “I think the evidence pointing to Emily is circumstantial, but this necklace has substance to it. And no one else has gone through the library, so at the very least we’ll have a unique answer.”
You grinned, “I like the way you think, Mrs. Simmons.” You reached out your hand and she helped you up, “Let’s go show these FBI agents how it’s done.” The two of you headed back to the sitting room.
The room was full when you got there, “Ah, I thought we were going to have to send out a search party for the two of you!” Penelope said, “Sit, sit, I’m sure we have some excellent conclusions to go through.” She handed the both of you glasses of wine before you sat down next to each other on the velvet chaise lounge.
Honestly, it reminded you of grade school. When your teacher would go through the answers on the homework, only for you to find that, somewhere, you had done something terribly wrong. By the time it got to you and Kristy, half of the people said it was Emily, almost half had said it was Matt, and one person said it was Kristy.
Nonetheless, the two of you stood up and announced your conclusion, “it was Rossi,” you said in unison.
“First, we met with David in the kitchen, and we asked him what he thought,” you said. “He could’ve said no, he could’ve said something else, but he told us how he thought Emily Prentiss was the killer.” You explained, “Now, as extremely professional detectives, we know that frequently, killers can’t help but insert themselves into the investigations.”
Lifting her hand in a waiting gesture, Kristy continued, “But we heard him out, and we trusted his conclusion. Until we didn’t, that is.” She said, “After some more expert investigation, we went to the library, where Rossi had claimed to have been at the time of the murder. It was there that my partner discovered the victim's necklace. It was broken as if it had been torn off of her neck, and there was blood on the chain.”
“This is combined with the report that the victim had experienced a blow to the head before she died, which could’ve easily been inflicted by the corner of the very desk I discovered the necklace beneath,” you resumed. “We propose that David Rossi, otherwise known as Professor Plum, incapacitated the victim in the library, before moving her to the kitchen so he could claim he had no part in her death.”
Rossi looked up at Penelope, who grinned and nodded, “I didn’t even realize I had done that in the kitchen earlier. Are you by chance looking for a new line of work?” He asked, getting a chorus of laughter in response.
“For my two winners,” Garcia said, her smile still bright as she draped two medals around your and Kristy’s necks. “Thank you, everyone, so much for playing this game. I know it’s hard to see it as a game when it all feels so real, but I appreciate you for separating fact and fiction for tonight.”
It was Luke who responded first, “Of course.”
“But maybe,” Rossi said, raising his wine glass in his hand, “Maybe next year we’ll just do a normal party.”
Tara raised her glass in response, “If you’re hosting, I’m attending.”
You nodded, concurring, “Far be it from me to miss a BAU party.”
Behind you, Spencer loosely wrapped his arm around your waist, “It’s almost the new year.”
“Aha!” Penelope said, “I have one last surprise for all of my favorite people! If you’ll just follow me out to the deck, we’ll be able to see the fireworks from here!”
Outside, the cool air bit at your bare skin. Ever the gentleman, Spencer draped his jacket over your shoulders. Grateful for the warmth, you pushed your arms through the sleeves and turned to face him, “You know, we’ve been together for years, but this will be our first New Year’s kiss.” You said, studying his face, every detail that you’ve come to know over the past few years.
Distantly, you heard the rest of the group counting down, but you were too focused on Spencer. “It won’t be our last, though,” he promised.
You grinned up at him, “As long as we get to go to the BAU party, Sherlock.”
“Of course,” he whispered, leaning down to press his lips to yours. “Happy New Year, Miss Scarlett.”

It came over you just after Spencer and Rossi had left to investigate a lead. This case was going nowhere fast, and the morale in the FBI field office clearly displayed it. “Are you alright?” JJ asked from right next to you, blonde hair curtaining around her face.
You nodded tightly, enough to show the newly minted profiler that you were, in fact, not alright. Nonetheless, you were motivated to push through. People were being murdered, you could brave a little vertigo to bring their killer to justice, right?
“Hey, you look a little pale,” Emily said, walking into the conference room with Hotch trailing close behind her. “Are you feeling okay?”
Rolling your eyes dramatically, you huffed at both of your coworkers. “I’m fine,” you insisted while your head was spinning. You lowered yourself down into an office chair, hoping that being sedentary would prevent your dinner from coming up.
Emily looked over at Hotch before saying, “Maybe you should head back to the hotel, it’s been a long day for all of us.”
Furrowing your brow, you frowned at your colleague. “I’ll make it through, we have work to do,” you insisted, flipping open a file as your stomach churned.
“You’re no help to anyone if you’re sick,” Hotch told you authoritatively, and you knew from his tone that he was going to send you back to the hotel. “Get some rest, we’ll start taking breaks in shifts,” he instructed, turning back to the evidence board.
It didn’t feel like shifts, especially considering you were the only one being cast off. You mumbled an acknowledgment while you stuffed your things in your bag. JJ offered to drive you, so the two of you exited the field office.
The two of you spent most of the ride in silence, just the fuzz of the SUV’s radio as background noise while you tried not to hurl in the government vehicle.
Once you were in the hotel parking lot, you closed your eyes and took a deep breath, trying to get your bearings before heading inside. “You know, I used to get sick in the evening when I was pregnant with Henry,” she said offhandedly.
It felt like a pointed comment, even if she didn’t mean it like that. You started fishing in your pocket for your room card, “But I’m not pregnant.”
“Are things good with you and Spencer?” She asked, looking for details on your relationship like an older sister. JJ killed the engine before turning to face you.
Sighing, you looked at her, “Things are great with Spencer.” You wanted to scold her for prying, but you knew it was an occupational hazard. It had been seven months, and all you had been telling anyone was “great” or “nice.”
The both of you knew that the more details you gave them, the more they’d want to pry. Penelope especially. “You know he wants kids, right?” She pushed.
You frowned at her, “Jennifer.” She put her hands up in surrender as you hauled yourself out of the SUV, “I just want to go to sleep, I feel awful.” That much was true, as you stood up outside the car, your stomach started to roil again.
“I’ll check in on you later,” she said, recognizing that she had begun to pry. “Let me know if you need anything,” she urged you, the mom in her coming into play.
Nodding, you shut the door before poking your head in the open window, “Thanks, JJ.” You said, turning around and walking to your hotel room.
Luckily, the team was already checked in, so you didn’t need to waste time trying to explain the whole ‘I’m an FBI agent’ thing to the front desk. Once you got into your room, you immediately dropped to your knees in front of the toilet, eyes burning as you upchucked into the toilet.
While you were digging through your go-bag for your toothbrush, you found yourself thinking about what JJ had said to you in the car. You couldn’t be pregnant. Well, you supposed you very well could be pregnant.
Sighing, you returned to the bathroom and started brushing your teeth, having needed to take the toothpaste out of Spencer’s bag. You made a mental note to buy more for your bag – you had been using his for the last four cases.
You silently cursed JJ for planting the thought of a baby in your head as you stared out the hotel window to a convenience store on the corner. At the very least, you could get some saltines and a Gatorade. At the very most, you could get a test.
Begrudgingly, you changed into more comfortable clothes and walked across the street to the convenience store. Grabbing a sleeve of crackers and a drink before stopping in the family planning section.
Why were there so many options?
Not wanting to draw any attention to yourself, you grabbed a digital test off of the shelf and tossed it into your basket. Your shoes squeaked on the linoleum floors as you elected to use the self-checkout, not needing to provide anyone with a front seat to your misery.
Other than the nausea, your trip back to the hotel was uneventful, and thankfully it didn’t look like anyone else on the team had made the trip to your lodging.
After you took the test, you set a timer on your phone, tossing it onto the bed before you sat on the edge of the mattress, sitting on your freshly washed hands. The timer scared you when it went off, not expecting the two minutes to go by so quickly before you returned to the bathroom.
Flipping the test over, the wind was knocked out of you as you read the results.
Yes +
You didn’t know how long you had stared at the test, but the sound of the lock on your door engaging pulled you out of your stupor. Thankfully, you had done the latch on the door, so you had a few extra minutes to toss the test in your go-bag before you went up to the door and let Spencer in.
“Hey, love,” he greeted you, dropping a kiss on your forehead. “How are you feeling?” He asked caringly, someone must’ve told him you weren’t well. You hoped that was all they had told him.
Humming, you leaned into his touch for a moment before he herded you to the bed. “A bit better, but not much,” you were slightly less nauseous now, possibly because there was nothing left in your stomach. There was a dull ache in your chest though, likely a result of the information you were now aware of.
He hooked a finger under your chin and studied your features for a moment, “Were you crying?” He whispered with concern-filled eyes.
You shook your head, “I threw up.” You informed him, the lack of oxygen had caused your eyes to water – similar to a yawn. Meanwhile, your head was spinning as the words balanced precariously on your tongue, I’m pregnant.
Spencer pouted sympathetically, smoothing your hair away from your face before he felt your forehead, checking for a fever. “I’m going to take a shower,” he announced softly, “do you need anything?”
Pathetically, you gestured over to your Gatorade and saltines, silently letting him know that you were all good for the night. It was only about eight in the evening, but you were exhausted. Letting your head flop onto the pillows, you sighed before shutting your eyes.
“Hey, Y/N,” Spencer spoke up in an unfamiliar tone. “What is this?”
Crinkling your nose in frustration, you propped yourself up on your elbows, looking over at Spencer as he held up your test. Your positive pregnancy test. “Would you believe me if I told you it wasn’t mine?” Clearly, in your panic to hide the test, you had tossed the blue stick in Spencer’s bag. Your subconscious must’ve recalled that you had gotten the toothpaste out of that bag, so you thought it was yours.
Any confusion fell from his face, and in that instant, he knew exactly what was going on. “You’re pregnant?”
You could feel your heart pounding in your chest, you couldn’t tell how he was feeling. “I-“ you swallowed thickly, the roiling in your stomach picking back up again. “Yes,” you answered in a small voice.
“When were you going to tell me?” He asked, there was no accusation in his voice, just pure curiosity and wonder. When you stayed silent, his eyes narrowed, “You were going to tell me, weren’t you?” He said, his volume raising from a whisper to a normal speaking level.
Pulling yourself up into a sitting position, you protectively crossed your arms in front of your stomach. “Oh my god, yes, I was going to tell you,” you clarified quickly. He didn’t seriously think you were going to hide this from him, did he?
He shook his head in confusion, “Then why hide it, angel?”
Shrugging, you thumbed the soft fabric of your sweatshirt, “I wanted time to think about it.” The admission hung in the thick tension of the hotel room.
“Okay,” he said slowly, walking over and sitting across from you on the mattress. It was clear to you that he was dealing with this situation delicately. “I don’t know if I’ve ever told you about this, but I excel in thinking,” he told you.
His implications were clear to you, he wanted you to talk it out with him. “I want kids, you know I want kids. I know you want kids,” you blurted. It was something you had talked about early on in your relationship. Spencer had been very upfront with you about wanting children, he told you he needed to be with someone who also wanted that.
Spencer tilted his head to the side, “but?” He said gently, taking both of your hands in his, holding on to you.
“It’s too soon,” you whispered, feeling vulnerable on the bed with him.
He smiled at you softly, “Have I ever told you about the first time I knew that I was in love with you?”
The question left you understandably confused, “What?” You breathed, silently pleading for clarification.
Spencer nodded, “We were on a case in North Dakota, and there was this little girl who had just lost both of her parents.” The case did sound familiar, the more brutal ones involving children tended to stick with you. “We were waiting for a social worker to come stay with her, but they were stuck in a snowbank across town. Instead of working on the case, you sat down with her and taught her how to play cat’s cradle.” His voice was soft, almost placating you.
You hadn’t even realized you were crying until tears fell onto your intertwined hands, “Spence, that was years ago.”
“Two years, nine months, and thirteen days ago. I fell in love with you while watching you put a smile on her face despite the fact that it was the worst day of her life,” he said, skimming the pads of his thumbs over the backs of your hands. “I fell in love with your ability to make people feel good when the world is against them,” he murmured.
Taking a shaky breath, you looked up at him through bleary eyes, “What if we can’t protect them?”
Gathering you in his arms, Spencer let you tuck your face in the crook of his neck, “I’ll do whatever you want, Y/N. We can leave, I could be a professor and you could be a stay-at-home mom. If you want, I could stay with the BAU and you could stay home, or you can stay with the team, and I’ll stay home. Whatever you want, Y/N.”
Silently, you absorbed his words as you caught your breath, “I’m scared” you whispered.
“I know,” he murmured, “that’s okay. It’s okay to be scared.” He tightened his arms around you and rocked back and forth.
Allowing yourself to lean into him, you breathed him in, “You’re going to be such a good dad.”
He dropped a soft kiss on the crown of your head, “You’re already such a good mom.”

Cute new dad Spencer with baby? And he’s all nervous but loves to tell baby( girl) interesting facts and ahh I jut want adorable! Thanks! Xx
Spencer watched as the little baby wiggled around in her cradle, her arms waving around and giggles falling from her mouth. Spencer smiled and felt his heart both gleam from joy and ache with dread, Bailey was nearly 6 months old and she was growing up so well. Before he knew it she would be starting school and having her first crush, it was all happening too fast.
Spencer snapped back into reality when he heard Bailey cry and he scooped her up into his arms in a second. He caressed her back and head as she rested against his chest, the picture of innocence.
“Is this better honey?”
Bailey grabbed onto Spencer’s shirt as she calmed down which earned a chuckle from her dad, she had started to get grabby recently and it was especially evident whenever she was in Spencer’s arms.
“You’re growing so well sweetie. Pretty soon you’re going to be running around the house and I’ll be chasing you.”
Bailey smiled as she looked up at the man holding her and Spencer returned it, his head spinning with thoughts of seeing his baby girl growing up and seeing her develop well.
“That won’t happen for a while though, at first you’re going to learn to crawl which should come up in a couple of months. Then a few months later you’re going to sit up on your own and start pointing at things.”
As Spencer kept cooing knowledge to the baby in his arms he was startled a bit when you walked into the nursery and placed your hand on his shoulder.
“And what are my two favorite people doing?”
“I’m just telling Bailey all the things she’s going to do in the next few months.”
You smiled and rested your chin on Spencer’s shoulder as you looked down on your daughter, “She’s growing up so fast.”
“Too fast.”
You chuckled and pecked Spencer’s cheek, “Maybe one day she’ll be saving lives like her daddy.”
“Oh not under my watch.”
Spencer went on to ramble about how he’d make sure that Bailey would end up in a dangerous job like his own. Most of what he was saying though you didn’t register as your focus was on the child in his arms, Bailey was looking up at her dad with the most loving gaze and even though she wasn’t even half a year old it was very evident that she loved her father.

Meet-Cute
Description: It's all in the title, isn't it?
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x gn!Reader
Warnings: none :)
Word Count: 1k
Tumblr media
On a Saturday morning after a night of drinking, the last thing you personally cared for was to be awoken by the loudest noise on earth. Some terrible creaking sound, mixed with thuds that seemed to resound in your apartment every thirty seconds had you practically developing a stress-induced twitch as you laid in bed.
To put it nicely: you were at the end of your rope.
You begrudgingly got out of bed, roughly washed your face, angrily brushed your teeth, and stomped to your door. You may not usually be prone to dramatics, but you felt it necessary for your well-being this time. You opened your door, about to confront your terribly noisy neighbor, when you realized that it was someone moving in.
You wanted to be angry. You really did. But…
“Hello,” said a man who you could only describe as genuinely tall, dark, and handsome. He also looked a little surprised.
You wiped the scowl off your face. “Hi.”
He looked around, as if the answer for you standing in your doorway in pajamas, looking quite annoyed, would appear out of thin air. It didn’t. You realized as much about thirty seconds later as you finally started speaking.
“Sorry. Are you moving in?”
"Oh! Yeah," he breathed out a small laugh. God he was handsome. "I apologize for the noise.”
You shake your head. “No! No, that’s okay. Just… curious.”
He smiled a little and you tried not to melt on the spot. He reached his hand out in greeting.
“I’m Aaron.”
You shook his hand, trying not to stare at him as you gave him your name.
“Nice to meet you,” you said softly.
“You, too. Uh… I’m just gonna…” he trailed off, nodding at the box under his arm.
“Of course!” you nod quickly. “Right. Um… I’ll see you around, Aaron.”
You went back to your apartment, shutting the door behind you with a little grin. So much for staying determined to be grumpy and less than pleasant today.
It was, unfortunately, two weeks later before you saw him again. This time as you were checking your mailbox in the lobby. As you heard someone clear their throat, you muttered a small apology, stepping out of the way as you looked through the letters in your hand.
“Um… hi,” he offered as a greeting that made you jump a little bit. "Sorry, I didn't mean to... Just wanted to say hello."
You looked up at the voice that was irritatingly smooth, finding yourself getting a bit warm in the cheeks when you noticed him giving you almost a shy smile. You turned towards him more to give him your full attention.
"Oh, gosh. Uh, sorry," you chuckled softly, returning his smile. "Guess I'm not very good at being neighborly, am I?"
"You're doing just fine. I'm sure it might be a little... maybe off-putting to have a strange man approach you in the lobby, now that I think of it."
You shook your head. “It’s not that at all. I’m just… not used to people approaching me here at all.”
“Not exactly social?”
“More like nobody else here is. I don’t mind a little company,” you replied, a little more flirty than you were intending.
Clearly he didn’t mind.
“Good to know,” he nodded once with a growing smirk.
“Uh…” you clammed up a tiny bit. “So… Um, are you, like, new around here?”
“Only to this building. I’ve been in D.C. for too many years to count,” his smirk melted into a softer smile. “Just needed someplace new, I guess. My old apartment… I just needed a change of scenery.”
“Yeah. Yeah, no, I’ve been there,” you nodded softly. “How are you liking it so far?”
“It’s great. My son loves it here.”
Your brows raised a little. “You have a son?”
“I’m shocked you didn’t file a complaint last night with the tantrum he threw,” he chuckled a tiny bit.
“I was out last night, so no worries here.”
“Oh? With friends, or…?”
You couldn’t help but smile a little more. “Yeah. Just a couple of girlfriends.”
“That sounds fun.”
“Maybe too much fun.”
“You get up to a lot with them?” he asked casually, though not without humor, crossing his arms over his chest.
You smiled. “Only on occasion. I don’t think I could really handle the way they go out practically every single night. I only agree to go out like that with them once a month.”
“Now you’re sounding a little too much like me for someone so young and pretty.”
You find your cheeks warm at that, though you try not to react outwardly. You could tell that he knew just how much he had affected you, though. If you didn’t know any better, you might guess he was a mindreader.
“I think you make yourself out to be too boring for someone so friendly and handsome.”
He laughed a little at that. Then a comfortable silence falls over the both of you for a moment. Maybe two moments. Eventually, you shift your weight, and look back up at him again. He really is horribly handsome. A guy shouldn’t be able to look like that, and… God, he smelled good, too. You shuffled the mail in your hands a little bit before speaking again.
“Uh… Well, it was nice chatting with you, but unfortunately I do have to go clean my apartment. Family is coming over tomorrow,” you said softly. “I’ll see you around, though, yeah?”
“Yes, that sounds… sounds good. Maybe if you end up wanting some of that company you were talking about, we could get dinner some time?”
You couldn’t help a giddy smile sneaking onto your face. You nodded easily, glancing at his hand as he shut your mailbox for you near your head.
“I could come knock on your door some time soon and invite you properly, if you’d be alright with that,” he said, that little smirk sneaking back onto his face.
“I’d like that.”

Rehab. (Spencer Reid X GN!Reader) Blurb
Tumblr media
word count: 510
cw: addiction, rehab, allusions to relapsing
(Note: there'll probably be a few things like this in this little story universe I'll be naming two-headed boy. its part of me rewriting spencer's addiction arc, but not the main plotline since that will not include x readers.)
Meeting new people was always hard, but going to rehab was harder, so you allowed yourself a bit of leeway with how social you were at this new place. It had been a friend that recommended it, seeing how bad you were struggling even with the fact you had finally begun to open up to them. Attending meetings was a no-go, you'd just leave after clamming up for an hour and drinking shitty coffee in a community hall. Things got dire, so rehab it was.
You spotted him the first day, sitting in the corner and reading a worn copy of some book you didn't care enough to glance at the cover of at a speed that made you think he was just staring at the pretty pictures instead. Not that you'd judge that, you'd spent 5 minutes in the centre and already were so bored you’d considered leaving.
Eventually the worker that led you into the day room went to get a cup of coffee, so you sat tentatively next to the young man, trying your best not to disturb him.
“You're new,” He points out curiously, having put his book down while you were counting the cracks on the ceiling. It startles you, but you nod, a tight smile on your lips.
“You're reading pretty fast,” You counter, showing your own observational skills, but you almost laugh out loud at his response.
“Actually, this is pretty slow for me. I wanted to, uh…soak in the words…” The man’s brows twitch oddly and you feel endeared already.
“Escapism?”
"Addicts crave oblivion" he'd told you, and you wondered where you'd heard that before, tilting your head as you listen.
"So what are you running from?" you asked in return, watching him avoid eye contact, you could see him thinking and going over it all…clearly it was a lot. “Yeah…me too…” you mumble, knowing all too well what trauma does to addicts.
The guy pulls another odd face, his mouth almost a straight line, it makes you chuckle and forget about the fire burning in the back of your head for a moment. “How is it…going…for you?” He asks carefully, clearly too scared to use words like addiction or sobriety. That would make it real.
“Four months.” You answer, though you aren't entirely sure that's true, it's all a blur and you'd rather not track it at all. “You?”
“Eight.”
It's a heavy number. So close to that coveted milestone and twice over what you had achieved so far.
“Does it g-”
“No.” He clearly doesn't even need to hear the rest of your question, it was the question every addict heard no matter what month of sobriety they'd made it to.
“Is it worth it..?” You ask hesitantly, watching the cogs turn in his head through his big doe eyes. The silence that follows stretches long enough that you start to get an inkling what the answer might be, but then he finally speaks again.
“It will be.” He nods firmly, finally looking you in the eyes.

Annabel Lee - Spencer Reid
Hello! This lil' fic was inspired by a video of Matthew reading the poem Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe found here !
Summary: When you're not able to sleep Spencer to throw out ways to help you, but turns out the solution was right in front of you
Warnings: none
I haven't written in a while so pls let me know your thoughts!
For the past week, every time you tried to close your eyes and sleep, you’d be kept up for hours on end. Tossing from one side to the other, trying out an array of different positions to feel comfortable enough to finally catch some rest, nothing would help.
When the issue was brought forth to Spencer he would list out an endless list of suggestions to try and find something that could eventually work
“Hmm let’s see, have you tried herbal-”
“Yes Spencer.”
“Okay, what about…”
You felt your thoughts drift off and eyes grow heavy as Spencer kept listing off different solutions for you to try out in hopes of finally getting some rest. A moment later you were snapped out of your thoughts when you felt a soft shake on your shoulder and were brought back to reality, “You okay Y/N?”. You blinked a few times and gazed at the concerned boy in front of you, realizing that the answer was there right in front of you and a small smile tugged on your lips, “I’m better than ever Spence. I have an idea.”
That night, Spencer came over to your apartment. The weather forecast had predicted heavy rain and when Spencer entered your apartment, you could well see that it had come true. Spencer’s hair was matted to his forehead from the rain and you were surprised he managed to walk all the way there because the rain had completely drenched the lenses of his glasses. You ran to get him a towel and chuckled as you ruffled the fabric over his hair, causing him to smile lightly.
After fetching him a warm blanket and making him a cup of hot chamomile tea, you both laid in your bed. Spencer brought over a poetry book to read to you and your eyes widened with curiosity. You just thought that you both would talk until you eventually ended up passing out, seeing that Spencer’s voice seemed to soothe you so much to the point of relaxation, but hearing Spencer's idea caused your heart to do a little flip. You thought that it was adorable.
So there you were, head resting in Spencer’s lap as he held a book of various poets' works in his hand. He would occasionally glance down at you and smile sweetly seeing how relaxed you seemed. The piece that finally did it for you was one by Edgar Allan Poe.
As the poem went on you felt your heartstrings being played with so hard that you thought you felt tears prick to your eyes. And the strangest thing of all was that when you looked over at Spencer, you swore you saw him look into your eyes as he kept reading it out loud.
“Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,”
That was it, those were the words that melted your heart and caused your breath to go shaky. A few lines later Spencer finished the poem and he placed the book down and turned his attention to you. His brows furrowed upon seeing your glassy eyes. His hand brushed against your cheek in a comforting way, “Hey you okay?”.
You nodded and shook your head lightly, “It was a really nice poem, thank you”. Spencer smiled and poked your cheek lightly which caused a small giggle to fall from your mouth.
“Do you think you’ll be able to sleep now?”
You smiled up at him and poked his cheek in return, “Without a doubt.”
