my instructor last semester made us do these but thats all i know ab it (according to my ss i was an intj if anyone cares). maybe one day ill really have to get into this for all my characters but just based on the alignments (extrovert introvert, sensing intuition, etc) id say bryce is an estp and tai is an infj

i imagine they started hanging out at the start of book 1 started :) bryce knew raf before the rest of the group; the first day on bryces lunch break he playing basketball like usual, and raf had a little lull in his schedule so they ended up playing together. bryces obnoxious personality and rafs humble beating his ass made them click ig lol, but since then they started hanging out during lunch, going to events together, etc etc

for the stuff outside of work, they do a lot of activities like go karting, getting good food, and other boston attractions. raf knows the city well and showed bryce some of the cooler unknown places, and bryce forced them to go to the touristy places too lol

they text a lot when bryce and jensen leave boston!! bryce isn't the best at keeping in touch but raf makes sure to call him here and there and they chat for a while. i think they lose touch for a bit, maybe a year or two (like just the occasional message), but then they start talking more and as bryces schedule is more consistent, he plans a trip to go see him. jensen and bryce also made sure they had a guest room so raf comes to visit them here and there too !!

hmmm as for a double date i think raf would want to do something like a simple dinner, meanwhile bryce is playing An Excursion including an escape room and movie and dinner and some other big event w a local attraction and raf is like ily but,, stop. so they meet in the middle. raf would pick the place to eat and bryce gets to pick One activity for the group. and if they were keeping it a surprise for their partners thank god it's the two of them bc bryce likes to yap and usually it's raf or jensen so as long as one of them know it's fine

i think that's it!! i just love their friendship bc they are opposites in the sense that raf is quiet sweet and humble and as we know bryce is the exact opposite of all of those. so. but yeah they both help each other adventure and get out of their comfort zones!! also it's nice bc they both are good friends to talk to, so it let's them both open up a bit but not in a super intense or obligatory way. they just get along well and have similar interests so it works

guys no im telling you bryce never could've been w another surgical intern (yeah yeah unless enemies or smthn but it's not that serious) bc everybody FUCKIN HATES HIS ASS. and guess what? mr elbows others out of the way to get to the top and cut in front for opportunities doesn't give a fuck!!! he doesn't care!!! he's there for himself and himself only!!! bryce only comes off sweet and caring bc he's not in competition w mc. if he was? he'd have a VERY different role. but bc mc doesn't see that competitive side they get sweet kind slightly annoying bryce, not competitive, pushy, get out of the way or get run over bryce. amd that's so fucking real of him

time to unpack bryce's sordid past~ do you see bryce being able to reconcile with anyone he knew back in hawaii?

ooh this is a GOOD one (and long bc im going to talk ab this forever)

honestly no. he makes new friends in hawaii, and is on neutral terms w most people from when he was younger, but he's also ready to move on from all of it. incident or not, bryce is not the person he was in high school and doesn't click super well w anyone he used to talk to anymore

in canon, there's a moment where mc can encourage bryce to hear his mom out, or say that he doesn't have to if he doesnt want. in my hc though, jensen says he will gladly give bryce advice if he wants it, but it's his decision to make. and bryce thinks it over for a minute, makes his decision, but asks for jensens advice anyway. jensen tells him that he is under no obligation to listen to what she has to say, and if he does he should be careful ab where she thinks it will lead and what her intentions are (ironic coming from him, ik). bryce takes that and decides to listen to her, but doesnt go further than that. he respectfully ends the conversation and that's the last time they talk ab anything to do w the two of them. he calls her on rare occasions to talk ab keiki, but thats it. i doubt he ever speaks w his dad (again unless it's ab keiki)

that decision he made earlier was that he could never truly reconcile with them. he knew he'd always be hurt by what they did. on one hand, being out on his own and completely independent was somewhat of a gift bc he got to have an understanding of the world from a perspective he never thought he would. it really kicked out that rich privilege he grew up w. but on the other, they never prepared him for the real world, and he felt it when he had to leave--but that wasn't what hurt him. they turned on their community, their friends, and destroyed any relationship they had for money. they put people out of their homes. they heightened the divide between the rich and the poor, the people who had always lived there and the people who decided to move there after they retired then never left. as he got into college, he met people who were proud of their culture, and knew and shared their customs, but he would've rather died than have to tell people where he was from bc he knew what they'd find. and to that point in canon, he still hadn't mended his relationship w it. he continued to hide it from his friends, and even when he told jensen it was still incredibly difficult. and atp it had been 8 years. he knew there was no way any relationship w them could fix that, esp bc they didn't have any plans to apologize

also. can we talk ab bryce and his cultural healing. bc i know i already mention it all the time. but imagine having your parents. YOUR FAMILY WHO IS SUPPOSED TO TEACH YOU AB YOUR CULTURE. buy out, gentrify, and turn your entire community against you. bc it fucking killed him. and he didn't magically come back from it. it took time and pain and a lot of meltdowns. (in my hc) it takes him YEARS before he is comfortable even looking into hawaiian history and beyond what he knew before. the tattoo he gets (in my hc) is a HUGE breakthrough for him bc he didn't get it "just bc". he got it bc there was a time in his life where he felt like there would never be a space for him. like he was so irreparably contaminated w what his parents did that he could never come back from it. and to be at a place where he wanted to embrace it took so fucking long to achieve. it was worth symbolizing

Btw Israel let Palestinians celebrate not one (1) holiday in peace. They didn’t grant Christian Palestinians access to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, they actively attacked families who were already starving at Iftar during Ramadan, and now there are several reports of families being killed on Eid al-Fitr—a sacred multi-day holiday practiced by lots of Arabs. It breaks my heart imagining the Palestinian families in Gaza right now, most of whom are spending Eid mourning loved ones who were taken by Israeli strikes. Most of us will never understand the sheer magnitude of that pain.
