Dear students of Islamic knowledge don't be lazy and simply blindly rely on what your teachers say. Be seekers of truth and verify by checking the sources of the classical works (when you gain that ability to read at a decent level). A sheikh may have more tools to bring the daleel (argument) but he himself is not an argument. Someone's eloquent and having deep information about Islamic issues is not necessarily an argument of their sincerity. Rather most of the times can be the opposite.
Dear teachers of Islamic knowledge, don't be dictators using the adab card as your shield. Be windows of truth for the seeker by showing them where and how to find the source of what you say. You are not gate keepers, you are transmitters with the responsibility of making things understood without blemish.
This is what passing on knowledge entails.

It was an incredible experience to be surrounded by my sisters in the presence of the esteemed @drhaifaayounis a respected scholar, activist, and community leader who inspires and empowers individuals, particularly women, to challenge societal norms and strive for personal and collective growth. She promotes inner beauty, self-worth, and meaningful goals, encouraging others to make a positive impact in their communities. Her dedication to philanthropy, activism, and community service showcases the transformative power of using one’s influence for the greater good. As Muslim women, we have the opportunity to redefine what it means to be influential by embodying knowledge, compassion, and social justice. Let us honor and support those who prioritize these values and encourage others to follow in their footsteps.
Indeed, being surrounded by our sisters in the House of Allah (SWT) is a truly blessed experience. The atmosphere is filled with a sense of peace, tranquility, and spirituality. It is a reminder of the strength and unity that comes from worshipping together and the blessings that Allah (SWT) bestows upon us when we gather in His house. May we always cherish and appreciate these moments and continue to support and uplift one another in our journey of faith.

The Akram Jomaa Islamic Centre has been selected as a recipient of the City Of Calgary 2023 Accessibility Award for Advocacy. The Advocacy Award recognizes an individual or group that’s helping people with disabilities in Calgary live fulfilling lives and/or are advancing accessibility to improve quality of life for all.
While I am honored to receive this award for my center, I am equally saddened by the dire situation faced by people with disabilities in Gaza. It is imperative to raise awareness about their plight, as they are among the most vulnerable individuals in a humanitarian crisis. Witnessing their disproportionate suffering is truly heartbreaking.
Gaza is home to nearly 50,000 people with disabilities and increasingly daily. Tragically, since October 7th, numerous children have had to undergo amputations of their limbs. These individuals are now seeking refuge in overcrowded shelters that lack basic sanitation and accessibility. Furthermore, many have been displaced without their essential assistive devices, further exacerbating their challenges.
International aid organizations have issued warnings, highlighting the alarming harm being inflicted upon people with disabilities in Palestine. These individuals not only face immense vulnerability but are also being denied their fundamental human rights.
It is our duty to advocate for their rights and and safety. We urge humanity, humanitarian organizations and donors to adapt their activities to ensure that no person with disabilities is left behind.
We pray to Allah (SWT) to alleviate their suffering. Ameen 🤲🏻

There are moments in life when Allah brings someone into our lives who teaches us valuable lessons through their actions. These individuals show us the true meaning of loyalty and purity through their sincere companionship, surpassing what we can learn from books alone. They inspire us to make heartfelt prayers for their well-being, wishing them nothing but goodness. May Allah be pleased with them. For me, that person is Dima. I deeply admire her unwavering faith and resilience. She has been a source of immense knowledge and guidance, and I am truly grateful for her friendship.
Dima had always cherished the dream of going to Umrah. This spiritual journey holds immense significance for many Muslims as it provides an opportunity to seek blessings and forgiveness from Allah. With utmost sincerity, I have prayed on her behalf, fully aware that she, too makes this Du’aa to Allah for these blessings upon herself and her family.
In the Quran, Allah emphasizes His power to bring things into existence with a simple command of "Be, and it is." This reminds us to place our complete trust and reliance in Allah, knowing that He is the originator of the heavens and the earth.
By the grace of Allah (SWT) Dima and her family will be joining Muhsen November Ummrah trip!
We express our gratitude to Allah, the Lord of the heavens, and extend our heartfelt appreciation to organizations like Muhsen. Muhsen's meticulous planning and unwavering dedication in organizing Umrah trips for families with special needs and disabilities deserve commendation. Their efforts have made it possible for these families to experience the sacred journey of Umrah, despite the unique challenges they may face.
Muhsen has played a crucial role in making dreams of going to Umrah a reality for individuals like Dima and Ousama. Without the support and aid provided by Muhsen this trip would have been challenging for this family. Muhsen's dedication and commitment to facilitating Umrah journeys for individuals with special needs and disabilities have made it possible for them to embark on this sacred journey. We are grateful for Muhsen's efforts in ensuring that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to experience the blessings of Umrah.
Muhsen provides one-on-one volunteers and professionals in the field of physiotherapy to assist individuals with special needs during their Umrah journey. Their attention to detail and commitment to ensuring a smooth and fulfilling experience for these individuals deserve recognition.
In times of uncertainty, it is important to remain patient and trust in Allah's plan for us. We should have good expectations of Him and believe that whatever He has planned for us will always be what's best for us, bringing us happiness and fulfillment. We should have firm faith that our prayers will be answered and our wishes granted, for we have asked the King for whom nothing is impossible. No matter how big our needs or how difficult our problems may seem, it is a matter of "Be, and it is" for Him.
Please support Muhsen Ummah Campaign:

I had an incredible experience at the girl's Camp Ahmed Abbas, where I had the opportunity to speak about the significance of the Importance of Muslim women in supporting community growth. It was a powerful reminder of the important roles that Muslim women play within their households, families and communities. As mothers, sisters, aunts, and caretakers, they have a pivotal role in nurturing and educating the next generation. Their dedication to raising righteous and knowledgeable individuals has had a profound impact on the early Muslim community and continues to shape the community today. Our Ummah has been strongest and spiritually powerful when sisters were fully involved in every level of society.
Looking back 1400 years ago, Muslim women played an integral role in uplifting and establishing their communities. They have become sources of inspiration for all people, proving how Islam enabled women rather than disabling them. Their legacies have been preserved within Islamic history, serving as a testament to a tradition of learning that has spanned centuries. Whether as hadith narrators, teachers, jurists, wives, mothers, or daughters, these women have contributed to the growth and development of the Muslim community on social, moral, and intellectual levels since the 7th century.
Today's youth are often consumed by following influencers on platforms like TikTok, Instagram or Snapchat, idolizing figures like Barbie. It is essential to recognize the underrated status of the Mothers of the Believers in our communities. They hold guidance for every problem and trial we may face, as they were the transmitters of knowledge. We can learn patience from Asiyah, loyalty from Khadijah, purity from Maryam, sincerity from Aishah, and steadfastness from Fatima.
Let us strive to learn our religion rather than simply inheriting it. By empowering ourselves with knowledge and embracing the teachings of these remarkable women, we can contribute to the revival and growth of our communities.
Camp Ahmed Abbas is truly doing commendable work. I pray that Allah blesses this endeavor, allowing it to flourish and grow. Ameen 🤲🏻

Truly honoured to have attended Muhsen’s leadership conference at their headquarters in Chicago Illinois representing Canada as Akram Jomaa’s special needs facilitator amongst Islamic institutions across the nation.
This training is a means which will enable me to better to serve my community, by providing proper resources and support to accommodate various spectrums of disabilities and fulfill their individual needs, making the inaccessible, accessible.
Looking forward to taking what I learned and pouring back into my community.

I used to think I knew how a pious Muslim looked and acted. I used to think it was pretty clear cut - like a checklist of traits and behaviours that would graduate someone from average to "religious."
Everyone always says, "You don't know what's truly in someone's heart," and yeah I believed that. But still, I had a checklist in the back of my mind.
The older I get, the more I realize there are people who are passing as religious while actually being oppressors, and people who seem "average" who are actually upholders of truth, justice, and faith.
Some people are exactly what they seem, and some people are not.
It confuses the part of me that just wants to see everything in black and white. It confuses the "checklist" me. It makes me think "I don't know" more often than is comfortable.
But now I live with "I don't know" as my personal mantra. I have to humble myself and realize that only Allah knows what's hidden in people's hearts - even my own.

A milestone in my philanthropy, being invited by the Nigerian Canadian Muslim Congregation of Calgary to speak. I had the opportunity to shed light on Black Islamic History, which is an under-studied area and celebrate notable black women in history whose achievements are not as loud as they should have been, specifically the story of Nana Asma'u and the influence and positive impact she has had on me personally as a Muslim woman.
Nana Asma'u was a nineteenth-century Fulani woman from Northern Nigeria who became a renowned scholar and greatly impacted Muslim women in Nigeria and beyond. Nana Asma'u played a substantial role in shaping the history of Muslim women. By educating women, Asma'u was able to educate and rebuild households; she transformed the suffering of war-torn communities into intellectual power. She pioneered a revolutionary system of education which took the form of a grassroots movement. Her legacy is a legacy of scholarship and activism, and her name is still used today in West Africa." To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.
‎‫إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّآ إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ‎‬
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved auntie, Aziza Karbanee, who is a pillar of our Muslim community, our mentor, teacher, and leader.
Auntie Aziza had the highest level of Islamic knowledge on performing Ghusl, teaching me and many others in our community. Last year I had the opportunity to sit with her over the course of months and compile documentation of the proper protocols of washing and shrouding the deceased with the intention to pass down the teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ for generations to come.
I am grateful Allah (SWT) gave me this time with her, to be in her presence, to be close to her, to learn from her, and to gain beneficial knowledge and wisdom from her.
When I visited her in the hospital this week, she expressed to me that she would sit and look outside the window and wonder about all the cars driving by and ponder on how at least two out of the ten cars that would drive by were Muslims, maybe going to Akram Jomaa to pray, learn, perform ghusl, or going to give dawah. She always stressed the importance of consistency and how the Prophet ﷺ conveyed “the acts most pleasing to Allah are those which are done continuously, even if they are small.” It is the little things that show a believer's dedication and devotion in pleasing Allah.
I value this sacred time being in her presence, and I pray her long list of students she left a positive impact on embody and carry on her legacy in devotional worship, her mission and vision for the Muslim ummah.
Please join me in asking Allah (SWT) to have mercy on her, to widen her grave and fill it with His Noor, and to grant her a lofty place in paradise. May Allah (SWT) grant her family and loved one's patience and comfort in her passing, Allahuma Ameen.

This Ramadan which is the auspicious time, I invite the whole humanity to give a chance to critical thinking, to pave way to possibilities beyond possibilities. I urge the brethren to find similarities within our differences and discover what's mutually unique. To treasure our strengths and to embrace our flaws in order to eradicate them. To coexist with our distinctions and to amalgamate into newer cultures. This Ramadan let's abstain from what's caustic to the contemporary world and indulge in what's progressive. Let your duty be the compassion and the forgiveness your charity, Ameen.

Rizq comes in many shapes & forms.
It can be working with great
teammates. Or parents who are still
around & healthy. Or finding parking
slots on your bad days. Or having
amazing friends who appreciate you.
Money isn't the only ruler to measure
