Out here in the wastelands, too many looked with nostalgia to the world that had poisoned them. The Eagle Clan nestled as it was in a valley protected from radiation held so little affection for the world that was they didn't even speak of it.
Noa had grown to manhood without ever knowing that there had been much of a world beyond the valley or even a world that was. In that sense the story of his life so far had been a short one but an old story, Adam in the garden before Eve or apple, Noah before the voice of god rained down, Moses before the flames.
He halted his horse, his eyes narrowed. This was a stranger. He approached cautiously redy to ride away at moments notice. "Are you lost, stranger?"

A faint smile ghosted across his lips as he kept his gaze on the bird. Eagle Sun had been his father's bird and it was a point of pride that the eagle now answered to his call now. "It's a partnership," He said speaking with the slow halting accent of a Caladan rustic, as if each word was a slow moving wave. "We raise them and they trust us, but they . . . do not always obey. Each one has it's own personality."
@ncvusaquila <3'd for a starter!
"They always come back to you?"
Voice a drawl, exhaling sweet iodine smoke, the cherry of the seaweed tobacco cigarette a burning ember. Nicotine hits her like a dart, in her veins, in her lungs. Something soothing for a planet she's only set foot on a handful of times. It seems different each step, like Spice on the tongue.
A head tilt, as she gestures to the eagle above. "Or do they ever want to be free?"
