Today, May 12, is international ME/CFS awareness day

Did you know that Melli herself has ME/cfs? It affects every aspect of her life outside of the Grid, and even some areas inside too.

ME/cfs stands for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (chronic fatigue syndrome), a serious multi-systemic neuroimmune disease.

Currently there is no cure, no approved treatments, and practically no funding for research despite the upwards of 50+ million people around the world who suffer from it. Those numbers are increasing everyday, as it’s estimated that half of people who have Long Covid will develop ME as well. The UK alone saw a 400% increase of ME since the start of covid.

1 in 4 people with ME are in the severe and very severe category. This includes people who cannot leave their house, or even their beds. The most severe patients with ME have a quality of life similar to end stage terminal diseases. This disease has gone largely neglected from governments and healthcare systems despite its prevalence and surging numbers. The majority of patients are dismissed and medically abused, leading to harm and even permanent decline.

There are many resources out there where you can learn more and help be an ally to speak for those who can’t.

I think Rinzler is basically just Tron, but stripped bare. Without any filter, any remorse and morality. Tron was never vicious, but even in the original movie, he showed a kind of righteous fury. Uprising gave us "Scars" and showed us a more personal side to that fury, one that turned very very ugly. Rinzler was always part of Tron. Clu just brought out the worst in him so to speak. Like when you piss off a kind person. Takes some time to get there, but once you've reached that point, you better get your ass out of there.
