Honestly as a blind person I’m so tired of seeing fictional blind characters who don’t use white canes or other guides. “They have special powers so they know what’s around them” or “they’re confident enough to not need a guide” are common tropes, and I’m tired.

Are people scared that using a white cane will make their blind character seem weak? They can’t use a cane because they’re so special that they already know what’s around them, and other blind people who use guides are inferior because they’re not special?

I’m tired. Give your blind characters white canes and other guides. Let them hold onto their friends, let them have guide dogs. Don’t make white cane users feel ostracized for not being “strong enough” to go without.

Another thing that pisses me off is when a sighted character comes up with the fantasy equivalent of braille and teaches it to the blind character. Braille was invented by Louis Braille, a blind man, in 1824. The blind character should be the one coming up with it.

Please watch out if you go on Twitter! There is some people using fan cams as a way to show violence and gore videos. They will pop up in the middle of the fan cam or at the end!

So there has been this thing going down on social media where people are posting fancams that contains gore and many other triggering content. Please be aware and stay safe online!

I’m only active on Twitter, so I don’t know much about other social media platforms. I know there’s this one Instagram account that has more information on this situation. Go find someone called @/fancamsituation.

If you’re on Twitter, please turn off auto play. I’ve seen a couple of those gore fancams and it is scarring. Also be aware of people with this “⍎” symbol in their bio or anywhere on their account. Most of the gore accounts has this symbol and it’s important to block/report those accounts!

It has also been said that these people would come into your dms, asking questions like:

“What are you afraid of?”

Usually, they’d use this and then send you gore content.

Please do not engage in any of the conversations, block & report. Let’s hope this would come to an end soon.

So I think all of you need to be aware of this

Most of the people on here are minors I’m assuming, but there’s also most likely people on here that are even younger than 13.

It’s no big surprise that pedophiles are on here under the term map (stands for Minor Attracted Person.”) They claim to be “non-contact” or “non-offending.” I’m making this post to tell you just how dangerous the map community is on here. Perhaps others will chime in with their stories of how the map community has affected them. Anyway, I’m with the story.

Also known as Beatrice, she is a 10 year old that found her way onto tumblr. I discovered her while gathering information about @map-face, who I’m sure most of you have heard of. But for those who haven’t, this post explains who he is.

I’m not exactly sure when Beatrice met map face, but I’ve attempted to document their “relationship” as much as I can. According to my research, the first posts about him showed up on her blog on 4/3/2018

Now I’m not sure exactly when they started talking. Maybe someone can correct me on this. But it got worse from there.

Map face is clearly accusing her of being a fake and calling her a slut and basically degrading her.

He’s degrading a fucking 10 year old girl. This is absolutely disgusting. That, along with the stress of all the hateful messages that she got from people defending the actual human piece of shit that is map-face, led her to attempt suicide that day on July 6th

She survived and was put in the hospital the next day on the 7th of July. God only knows why her parents didn’t interrogate her as to why she did what she did, or why they didn’t go through her phone and iPad, but some of the blame must be put on them too.

That day she presumably continued getting harassed by map face, so she reached out for help by connecting with someone known as @nomap-nebula
