U.S. conservatives always talk about creating jobs but get SO MAD whenever anyone mentions banning prison labor like imagine the insane ammout of jobs that would be created literally overnight if companies in your country had to actually employ people instead of using slave labor from people that got caught with weed 10 years ago.
Maybe this is the wrong platform to pose this question given the average tumblr user but
Is it just me or did our generation (those of is who are currently 20-30 ish) just not get the opportunity to be young in the 'standard' sense?
Like, everyone I talk to who's over 40 has all their wild stories about their teens and 20s, being young and dumb, and then I talk to my friends and coworkers and classmates, and we just... dont.
White ppl will say they want stuff with "representation" in it, but if theres a movie with mostly nonwhite people but 1 or 2 White characters then they'll obsess exclusively over the White characters, and if there's no White characters then they don't watch it at all
Knowing a fic author through AO3 is like attending someone’s thesis presentation and politely clapping at the end, knowing a fic author through this hellsite is like going over to their house at 3AM to watch them eat mayonnaise out of a jar
Zukka is a ship that I'm ultimately indifferent to but its existence gives me more glee than any other ship. As someone who obnoxiously spent the majority of my pre-teen years going to forum war for Kataang against Zutara, and watching as that war went on strong for years after I'd left my station, the rise of Zukka basically felt like this
"After ten long years the fight shows no sign of stopping. Kataang is once again bringing its ultimate attack of canon-compliance, while Zutara has released another essay on how it better suits the show's themes of balance- wait. What's this? Why it's-it's- IT'S ZUKKA WITH A STEEL CHAIR!!!!"
I think a big reason why I became so interested in his character is cuz as a Black person, I know exactly what it's like to hold your tongue and not say your piece and feel like your opinions may not matter. Especially in the face of Whyt people. I've had my fair share of speaking up and attempting to set boundaries with a couple of Whyt friends in the past and lets just say...we're not friends anymore lmao.
However, there definitely comes a point where that become a You Problem. That in some cases it's *you* who's holding yourself back. And it was VERY refreshing seeing Toshiro admit there are things he should've said. And that's he's envious of Laios' very open nature. Because I too get envious even 'till this day of those who are readily open about their thoughts and feelings. And it's something that is hard to try to do yourself, to try and be like that when you've grown up the opposite. It's envy and self loathing, but also a lot of admiration for the other person. A lot.
I definitely noticed how Toshiro spoke more after the fight. It made me happy to see lol If he reaaally hated Laios, he honestly would've just left him to die. However, despite appearing as this Law Abiding Citizen™️ (not affectionate) that some of the audience want him to be, he literally was like "ring this bell and I'll help you escape the police ✌🏾" And that's something I'm not surprised quite a few people are willing to ignore.
Toshiro and Kabru, in my opinion, are very similar in that they're shown in what appears to be bad light first. But it's up to the audience to pick up what's been put down in order to understand that they're also valid in their thoughts and feelings. Laios and The Gang are not the only ones who deserve understanding, and this is something that's suggested so far throughout the story.
the Columbia University arrests are worse than they seem. They're arresting protesting students for trespassing. It goes without saying students cannot meaningfully "trespass" in the common areas of a university they attend. So Columbia University has suspended all student protestors from their institution, in the process revoking their access to housing, their belongings, and most crucially damaging their academic futures. We are witnessing full scale silencing and removal of anyone of conscience from the next generation of academia.
i was going to make a post like "if you have an owl house or hazbin hotel pfp im NOT listening to your political opinions" and then i remembered my pfp is from an explicit yaoi anime
