Thinking about the way Murderbot refers to itself and SecUnits in general as murderbots (derogatory) and then ComfortUnits as sexbots (derogatory)
Like yes. It definitely had some issues with ComfortUnits as a concept that it needed to work through but it's also funny to think that maybe it'd just be like that for any given "unit," regardless of function.
CulinaryUnit: Oh if you need a weapon there's knives in the kitchen, if you want to stop by.
Murderbot: (Disdainfully) I don't need to take advice from a chefbot.
Murderbot: (Internally) Yes, I did stop by the kitchen, and I did get the fucking knives. Whatever.

If you ever feel like you’ve made bad decisions just remember that somewhere out there is a theatre director at an all-white high school about to choose the spring musical

MISHA: change in the culture- when he first started on supernatural there was no way that would have happened- but by the last series there had been a huge change where that declaration of love could happen. talks about how fag and homo were used so often when he was younger and how his kids have such a different world now- decades away from eliminating homophobia but if the show had happened later on who knows what have happened

It became common knowledge that ancient societies cared for the disabled & were more sensitive than we assumed, and people overcorrected from the grim, primitive portrayal of old into an assumption that in ancient times people were peaceful until something corrupted them. And now others are overcorrecting back in the opposite direction - no, they weren't even slightly peaceful, they were ghouls bashing in heads with rocks. When the truth is probably that they cared for their sick and disabled, and bashed in other people's heads with rocks.
Societies can have advanced, positive aspects and horrible ones. Example: all of them

before the poll, a quick definition of terms:
"mutual" - you found this post from a mutual (on their blog or your dash) "following" - you found this post from someone you're following, but who isn't following you "random" - you found this by scrolling through someone's blog, who you don't follow. this includes people following you "For You" - you found this on the For You page "recommended" - you found this in a "Check out these blogs" popup, or a "recommended" post when looking at a different post "other" - you found this post some other way. comment how? "reblog ✅" - you're going to reblog, queue, or schedule this post "reblog ❌" - you're NOT going to reblog, queue, or schedule this post
with that out of the way:

thinking about that post thats like. to avoid bloatware every game dev team should be required to have one guy that has to play the game on a shitty laptop. in the same spirit i think every movie and tv director should have to watch their movie/show on a small tv or laptop screen in a bright room and fix the lighting until its possible to see whats going on on the screen in those conditions

professors who have only interacted with other academics for years: “what do you MEAN you don’t know multi-variable calculus yet??”
professors with small kids: “thank you for not putting the lab equipment in your mouths when I turn my back”

here's a fun parchment fact for you re: reusing a surface: sheepskin was often used for legal documents because it's hard to scrape out a word and rewrite without it being obviously damaged, unlike good quality calfskin where it can be undetectable that something has been altered
