Carlos “Botong” V. Franciso was known as the National Artist of the Painted Art in 1973. He was born on November 4, 1912 in Angono, Rizal to the couple Felipe Francisco and Maria Vilaluz. He graduated from the School of Fine Arts of the University of the Philippines. It is said that the “Botong” name comes from the name of one of the most popular characters in Cainta, Rizal as black as the color. She started working as a lay-out artist in The Philippines Herald and Tribune. He died at age 57 on March 31, 1969 and was buried in his hometown, in Angono, Rizal.
Botong was the second Filipino to receive the title of National Artist in Painting, after Fernando C. Amorsolo. He was best known for his works depicting some of the country’s impactful historical moments. Botong, the 1964 Republic of the Philippines Cultural Heritage awardee, was hailed as Philippine National Artist for Visual Arts in 1973. He was one of the first Filipino modernists who revolutionized art and deviated from Fernando Amorsolo’s romanticism of Philippines scenes.  His great works include Blood Compact, First Mass at Limasawa, The Martyrdom of Rizal, Bayanihan, Magpupukot, Fiesta, Bayanihan sa Bukid, Sandugo, Portrait of Purita, The Invasion of Limahong, Serenade, Muslim Betrothaland and the famed Nose Flute.
MAGPUPUKOT
One of the artwork of Carlos V. Francisco is Magpupukot, it means pulling in the net, this was made and finished from an oil in a canvas. Through Magpupukot his purpose was recognized by revitalizing the forgotten art of mural and remained its most distinguished expert in the field of canvas painting. The artwork emphasized the life of being a fisherman. The art consists of three boats.  In the first boat, there are six persons who help each other to pull the net. The second boat has a lady who is barely observing and a man who is fixing their sail. The third boat has five men who row the boat where each individual are using two oars. The fishermen are the focus point of this painting or artwork, and Mr. Francisco longs to identify to his art the value of being a fisherman and how we should see the job fishing as one of the noble job.
The artwork itself symbolizes the lives of the fishing community where they give their workload to live up to the necessities of their household and also to grasp or contribute to the agriculture or economy here in the Philippines. The artwork consists of many fishermen and it is a reflection that there are a lot of fishermen in our country. Shall we say, the artwork is trying to express that there are several fishermen here in our archipelago country, since the Philippines is abundant in water resources or the Philippines has a wide maritime territory and long coastlines and so people in their environment use this as an opportunity for economic activities such as fishing as a stage where human drama unfolds. As we can recognize to his painting, there is only one woman in the artwork and she clearly just observing what does the males are doing. It means the artwork perceives that the fishermen are always for males and it symbolizes a matriarchal society in which men are doing the job. The artist wants to convey about gender roles hence fishing are always for masculinity the reason that he draws a lot of males than a female gender. The artwork also symbolizes the identity of being a Filipino where the arms and hands of the fishermen are holding the same net and it signifies the camaraderie of being a Filipino and how they live the “Bayanihan” or brotherhood mark. The fishermen in the artwork are also wearing the traditional clothing of Filipinos before, their attire are sombrero, ordinary shirt and a bandana around their necks. Also, one of the interpretations of this artwork is that fishermen in 60s are doing the primitive way of fishing. As we can see, fishermen were using oars rather than automatic boats and they also use their strength to hook-up different and various kinds of fishes rather than using involuntary machines. It is also a reflection that on the time when Mr. Francisco drew the Magpupukot artwork, fishermen are doing the traditional or primitive methods of fishing. Up until at this instant, we can also notice that most of the fishermen are also doing the process of fishing same as before the reason that we can appreciate the Magpupukot artwork because of that system.
The lush tropical sense of color and an abiding faith in the folk values and which the main colors that Mr. Francisco used in his painting are brown, aquatic green and yellow and can be considered to be quite alike and matching as each of its color used to express at the same impression about fishermen. For instance, the sun-tanned color skin of the fishermen symbolizes the attributes of being a Filipino. The shapes of the artworks specifically the fishermen were drew in harmony in which the arrangement is in scaled and proportionated. The fishermen are also associated with repetition of a body structure, clothing, and such elements like oars, boats and sails, because it produces a pattern. The mood and visual effect that this painting portrays can be considered to be thorough where the fishermen uses their force to pull the net and rows the boat using oars the reason that the elements are in scale and proportion and also the reason why the illusionary manner of the artwork incorporates the time and the movement of the fishermen and the boats. What makes the artwork also interesting is the variety of the elements used, for instance in the first boat fishermen are stripped while on the other hand, the fishermen are wearing the traditional type of attire. The elements also are in informal balance where the elements are not equally distributed such as the figures of fishermen and such but it is also has formal balance where the weights of each element are equally distributed. The artwork emphasizes the lives of being a fisherman in how they do their work and it subordinates such element like oars and boats to have an impact to the emphasized element which are the fishermen.
As we analyzed the artwork, the artist used dark colours for the Magpupukot artwork which it is linked to the warm climate when fishermen are doing their job thus it pertains an overall value which is a balance of darkness and lightness of various colours that’s why the texture of the art is really illusionary. The space also which is the sea pertains an emptiness and it is enclosed by a shape which are the boats the reason that ocean is a positive space but the reservoir or sea is also considered as an abstract shape. The organic shapes are human figures and other elements found in the artwork such as boat. The line used by the artist is always curve since it pertains to the sea, human body and such objects. All in all, Mr. Francisco wanted to know to the spectators of the Magpupukot artwork to emphasized with the fishermen and recognize their way of living and how they were going through. The artist demonstrates the appreciation that he has for the fishermen through the painting.

The Martyrdom of Rizal Mural
Rizal's death was an emotional event in our history as it produced a "martyr" and resulted in some form of social change or transformation in our lives as a people. Webster defines a "martyr" as a person who is put to death or made to suffer greatly because of religion or other beliefs. Other elements of martyrdom are usefulness of life and dedication to a high purpose. Rizal was put to death for "subversion" by the dominant political forces. He represented a sector of society which had begun to cause trouble and therefore constituted a real threat to the existing social order. In these times of crisis we Filipinos would do well to look back at the code of virtues Rizal abided by to help us put meaning to our own struggles for survival.  Rizal embodied and realized the best of what the Filipino can be.  His triumphs and struggles even against the certainty of failure inspired the Katipunaneros to launch the Revolution despite great odds, and realize Asia’s first independent Republic.  And today, it is still Rizal that leads this generation to continue and perchance finish what he began: the formation of a nation where every Filipino is truly free. As the nation marks the martyrdom of Rizal it is only fitting to look once again at the way he lived his brief life, to be inspired to move forward for ourselves and for nation.
The Martyrdom of Rizal Mural, done in 1960 is one of the best known works of Carlos “Botong” V. Francisco. Francisco is best known for his landmark murals depicting some of the Philippine historical events. The mural depicts the execution of Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal at Bagong Bayan (now Rizal Park) on December 30, 1896. The mural was commissioned by Fort Santiago as part of the Rizal Shrine.
The artwork made by Carlos “Botong” Francisco and finished by oil in canvas that reflects our never ending battle for sovereignty, freedom of expression, equality and recognition of human rights which the world should recognize. It is use to describe and understand the death experience of our National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. It portrays the effects coming from the painting that rely some characteristics such as history in Philippines during the Spanish Colonization, format that makes the artwork more understandable, emotion of Dr. Jose Rizal when the bullet attacked him, treatment of the human figures, space, style of how the Martyrdom of Rizal presented, the use of lines and form which is curved, the color that mostly shows lightness of the artwork, and texture that depicted the quality of an artwork. The artwork usually shows features as contributing to the overall impression of the work. The visual properties in understanding the historical context where in the time and place during the Spanish Colonization typically have common features made by Carlos V. Francisco.
With that artwork, it allows the present generation to look back at what transpired in its history to make possible the birth and growth of a nation. It provides a good time to reassess the lessons that we have learned from the past and in the process of reflection, to be able to understand ourselves and our collective consciousness as a people.

BAYANIHAN
The Bayanihan could be a Filipino custom derived from a Filipino word “bayan”, which implies nation, city or community. The term bayanihan itself virtually suggests that “being in an exceedingly bayan”, that refers to the spirit of communal unity, work and cooperation to attain a selected goal. The Bayanihan spirit shows Filipinos thought of serving to each other most importantly in times of want while not expecting something reciprocally. what is more, the bayanihan spirit lives on among Filipinos even in trendy days and has been incontestable in several forms, like once natural calamities or disasters strike. Filipinos can move out of their thanks to facilitate their kababayans in want. The Bayanihan spirit; one among the numerous stunning things that Filipinos own and might be pleased with. This painting of Glen Gebhard Francisco may simply found on a typical tradition of all Filipinos. Back in hundred years past, this is often however individuals or neighborhood facilitate a family if they were visiting move location. As within the classic tradition of carrying a house, every man carries a little of the burden of the house and in impact, becomes a hero for all the others as a result of he lightens the load for the others. Aesthetics with slightly of simplicity is one among the issue thought-about by Francisco during this design, aesthetics as a result of as you'll see, it's so stunning. If you took a look on this, you'll see the thought of “supporting/helping”. Carlos Francisco gives emphasize to the elements and principles of arts especially to the color, variety and harmony of his painting. As you can see his painting is really pleasant to our eyes and we can really understand what he wants to tell us about his painting. Through the elements and principles that he use it is easy for us to interpret the painting and understand it.

ICT as a Platform for Change
As a Digital Citizen, I will be stating the meaning, importance, advantages and disadvantages of Digital Communication which helps the people understand more.
Digital communication is a mode of communication. It occurs when the information or the thought is encoded digitally as discreet signals and then is electronically transferred to the recipients. In our increasingly connected world, one can hardly imagine his/her life without digital communication. It allows modern people to connect with each other more easily than ever before.
The importance of Digital Communication
Modern day life is consumed by technology. Without it, life would not be nearly the same. The digital world is growing bigger and more powerful. We can use our digital communication for the good. We can stay in closer contact with everyone. In this days and age, digital communication has become indispensable. In fact, according to World Internet Usage, the internet is used by about 2 billion people daily. Most people all around the globe use digital. Without digital communication we would all still be writing to each other in a letter and then mailing that letter to the person’s address or just talking face to face.
Advantages of digital communication
 Digital communication systems are cheaper to implement. It is possible to manufacture very high speed circuits that are used in digital communications.
 Digital communication allows generation the digital signal in long distance transmission which reduces noise effect.
 Good processing techniques are available for digital signals such as source coding (data compression), channel coding (error detection and correction), equalization etc.
 Easy to mix signals and data using digital techniques.
 Privacy is preserved by using data encryption. Only permitted receivers can be allowed to detect the transmitted data. This is very useful in military applications.
 High speed computers and powerful software design tools are available. They make the development of digital communication systems flexible.
 Internet is spread almost in every cities and towns. The compatibility of digital communication systems with Internet has opened new area of applications
Disadvantages of digital communication
 Generally more bandwidth is required than that for analog systems.
 Synchronization is required.
 High power consumption (Due to various stages of conversion).
 Complex circuit, more sophisticated device making is also drawbacks of digital system.
 Introduce sampling error
 As square wave is more affected by noise, That’s why while communicating through channel we send sin waves but while operating on device we use squire pulses.

Google Tool
What Google Tool is best for you and why? You may include situation where it is helpful in work, school or community.
I chose Google Map as the best Google Tool for me because it serves as guide to the people. Google Map offers satellite imagery, street maps, 360° panoramic views of streets, real-time traffic conditions, and public transportation. The directions of Google Maps is really good at providing people with directions on which transportation method is available in any place as well as the details that come with those methods. For example is, to know where to catch a bus or something, you can find that information. Creating Maps, when the location is vague, you might have trouble finding a coherent diagram that offers accurate directions. In such instances, just make your own. Distance and estimated time of arrival, when using the Maps feature, just clicking on a particular point allows you to know just how far it is to your current location and how long it takes to get there. This will help you plan your travels and organize your schedule. Finding Your Location, just in case you are travelling somewhere new and you don’t know where you are exactly, you can find out your exact location. It’s great for not getting lost. Setting Routes, when you have a particular route in mind, you can set that and just follow the directions. Traffic Information, getting caught in traffic sucks. Fortunately, Google Maps can tell you which places are crowded during what time of day. Verbal Instructions, in case you didn’t know already, you can just tell Google Maps about the place you want to go instead of typing it. It’s great for when you’re driving.

Online Safety, Security, Ethics, and Etiquette
Knowing the online safety, security, ethics, and etiquette is important upon accessing different websites, social media, and others to have privacy. I remember in year 2010 when I started using computers to access Facebook and Yahoo, yet up until now in which I use more than I used before. But, I never did something that is not a standard of online safety, security, ethics, and etiquette because I always feel scared to do it. Two years ago, I received a message coming from my Facebook friend. She sent me a link and told me to open the link and I’ll just have to provide personal information to have an online job. I opened the link and fill up everything what they asked and I submitted it. I told her that I’m done and she congratulated me, I asked some more information about the background of the company and I noticed that her answers were not legit. So, I researched about the company and the results were all about “Be aware”, “Notice”, and even journals. With that, I found out that I was scammed. I sent a message again to her, telling that the link was not legit and she didn’t reply me anymore so I blocked her account. Based on that experienced, I learn that when someone will send me a link, even how big the income is I will not open it.

Information Communication and Technology
1. Which sector (business, education, energy, health, entertainment, manufacturing, construction and etc.) do you think had the biggest impact in terms of effect of ICT in the Philippines? Give a brief statement explaining how did this sector contributed from ICT.
- For me, education sector had the biggest impact in terms of effect of ICT because Filipinos gathered more information that is used in learning or studies. We all know that in every year technologies became more advanced, yet students and teachers are dependent in using the technologies as materials because of abundant and effective resources. For example in research subject, aside from conducting interview or surveys, researchers gathered information from internet to have knowledge and background about the study. Information that is reliable and sufficient in proving the hypothesis of the study, related studies, and proving statements that are correlated about the topic. Education sector also helped improved the quality of basic education in the Philippines. And technologies have purpose which is to communicate and interact but in a way of education that people became knowledgeable, competent, and gained more learning.
2. Name an application or website that helped you in your life as a person and also tell how this application or website helped you.
- There are a lot of applications that truly helped me such as Google, Gmail, Messenger, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Quipper, and Edmodo. But if I were going to choose among of them, Google is an application or website that helped me in my life as a person because it helped me to gain more information and improved my knowledge. I can say that I am dependent in Google in terms of seeking information, advance studying, or others because everything I am looking for I found in Google. Examples: knowing how to troubleshoot and diagnose computer, I searched it to make it more clear and understandable. Background information about our study Thermostatic Cooling Pad, Different kinds of dances, and other subjects matter. While other applications help me to communicate to be connected and interacted with other people, updated about my idols, and expressed my feelings or thoughts.
