It had been so sudden and abrupt that everything became nothing; there was no light, no sounds, no scents, no taste, no sensations, no air. He was in nothing and it was agony. He couldn’t breathe but a perpetual scream choked his empty throat, tears would not come from his wide open eyes. How long was he like that? How long was he trapped there in nothingness. Then there was a warm sensation, something wet enveloped him as distant sounds were muffled slowly growing closer. Shuffling and snarls, there was something beating at his back, he was curled up in the feral position and suddenly the warmth burst and peeled open like a rotten bloom. He was dropped from the marker down to the ground and it was enough to jolt him awake, eyes snapping open he wheezed and choked, flailing onto his front. Coated in the foul liquid he gagged and heaved, throwing up the black substance from his lungs. He wiped at his face panicking, he couldn’t breathe properly and he felt raw, like the very air was burning him after that nothingness stripped him of all he was, would be, and ever had been. Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck fuck! He sobbed and clawed at his skin, struggling to make sense of everything as a heavy pressure pressed down and on his mind, he didn’t even notice he’d split his skin under his nails as he clawed to get the sticky substance off. He didn’t know how the Marker was pushing him, egging him on to claw himself to death, to have him become simply one more to the masses of necromorphs that filled the sprawl.

Viper’s eyes widened in surprise as the wings appeared, immediately he moved closer to get a better look as he struggled to see in the blinding light of the dual suns, “ Dude your wings are awesome! ” He exclaimed before looking up at him with a bright smile, the dark and ominous aura around him evaporating as if he was taking off a mask. “ Nah it’s cool, I could have easily killed you first. ” He shrugged before groaning and shuddering again, “ Fucking tell me about it! Gods! I’ve killed so many people for less, because fuck I can’t stand it and sometimes loose it. But he’s actually into that so it really doesn’t help. ” He grimaced.

He glanced to the ring on his index finger and frowned, his sanity levels weren’t stable, that wasn’t good. He sighed and looked back to the other, “ It’s fine you clearly couldn’t control it, I have similar reactions to certain things after all. ” But as he called out the other he felt a pang of guilt in his chest, he wasn’t so different from him. He crossed his arms ver his chest and rubbed at the bandages around his neck, “ Then why don’t you just… stop? ” He asked, “ Or are you trapped too? ” He frowned some as he could understand the frustration. “ It’s your life, not your fathers. Gods all he’d wanted to do was survive, he didn’t intend to become that old perverts favourite toy. Then it got worse when he’d come out as one of the Saint’s of the god the Unitoligists all worshiped, some knowing and others just swept up into the fanatical belief. The Saint of the Beast, alongside The Saint of the Flesh, he was glad Ves had his godly boyfriend and his family supported him. Viper had no one really, so he just did his best to survive his shorty situation. But gods he was tired of the assassinations and hate towards him, it weighed him down and made it hard to breath. When would this end? When would he be free? When could he just breathe without fear of death or physical punishment by his owner, gods this world was cruel and the times were even crueller to him. Just his luck.

When he moved and grabbed with the threat, the last thing he expected was the sudden moan. The shadows evaporated, his eyes stopped glowing red and returned to the dull dark green as he immediately release him and the dagger vanished mysteriously. He held his hands up and backed up a few steps, “ Haha! Yeah Nah man, I’m not playing on your kinks. I do that enough with the perverted cunt as is. ” He scoffed, “ Dude you’re a really bad assassin, you know that right? I saw you talking me over an hour ago, why do you think I walked down this alley that no one else would go down. Gods! ”

He was always a target, be it for bullying as a child to neglect from the woman who gave birth to him. It was no different now, as Carson’s favourite he was seen as a way to get to the powerhouse of Carson Enterprises. So when the gun was pointed to his head the assassin was met with an empty stare, one who didn’t even show fear of death… if anything it was acceptance. He tilted his head however looking at the gun as Cassie’s voice rang in his mind. The gun nut nova had made sure to teach him how to use a gun and how to tell many things… like how the weapon wasn’t even loaded and the safety was still on. “ Yes that is quite the point. ” He drawled, sounding utterly bored. He walked forwards and let the muzzle of the gun press into his forehead, “ You know this isn’t loaded and the safety is on… right? ” He was half amused by the lack of skill the assassin showed.

There was a flickering glow of red on his tattooed hand before a blade shaped like a fang appeared in his hand. It was quick as he smacked the gun away from his head and lunged forwards grabbing the fellow red heads hair and yanked his head back to being him uncomfortably down to his level, before he pressed the blade to his neck, “ What should I do with you then, hmm? Should I make you an offering to the god or the one you want to stupidly piss off? Whoever your client is I suggest you tell me, although it could be much more fun for me to pry it from your mind if you don’t want to say… and I assure you it won’t be pleasant at all.” The alley seemed too dark, as if the shadows themselves had risen and spread like formless wings at his back, emphasising the threat he intended to keep.

“ Oh don’t go telling anyone else that, they’ll look down on you for being unable to control your own power. ” He muttered, trying to wrap his head around why Alduin was touching him, was he trying to crush him? Kill him? When he was answered to where he was he paused, “ Skuldafn? ” He asked baffled before looking up at the dragon, turning red he tried to push him away and gain some space, maybe his heart would race less if he did, “ Well that explains why it’s so fucking cold. ” He was trembling from the icy chill, his bare feet and arms numb from it. Now he noticed his breathe as misting, the air icy with a bite from the wind. This was a place only dragons could reach, he doubted he would be escaping or getting away anytime soon. “ So what now? You’ll kill me? Because I doubt you’ll just let me go or send me back. If what you said is true you don’t even know where I’m from. ” He grumbled.

Viper flinched at the sudden contact, he jerked and twisted around as not to be caught with his back to someone making it harder to struggle, only to freeze up shocked as Alduin hugged him. His mind was sent spiralling trying to understand what was happening, “ No, it makes no sense. You… why are you doing this to me? Why me? Where are we? Why did you take away my chance to try and build up a real life? What can you really understand, you don’t know how to love so how could you understand? ” He hissed, still unhappy with him for all he had done.

He twitched as he was called out, he hugged himself and drew his knees to his chest, curling up into himself his head lowered, “ Shut up, what do you know? ” He muttered annoyed, trying to hide how painful the truth was, trying to make himself forget how unwanted he was, abandoned and neglected, used and abused, he barely had true friends that he could count on one hand. He didn’t have a home, he didn’t have a family, he didn’t have much of anything as it was stolen and destroyed. “ You have everything, you can’t even begin to understand human struggles so why do you care? ” He was spiteful, hurt, and stressed.

Viper scowled at him, “ Say what? ” He hadn’t heard him clearly and wasn’t sure if he’d misunderstood, but then the attitude was back and he smacked his hand away with a bark of laughter, “ Or what? You’ll kill me? You’ve already ripped me away from everything I know and have, what more could you do that someone else has not already done? ” He muttered darkly, turning his head he crossed his arms over his chest and refused to look at him or get up off the ground, even if it was cold. Where even were they?

It had gotten too much, the stress of being summoned here, the ominous words and actions of Alduin, the ignorance and accusation that he was lying when he said he didn’t have power. It was pushed down and down and down until he burst, like a can under too much pressure, he exploded. He glared down at the dragon angrily, he was burning up, adrenaline and anger made him tremble as he made sure the dragon seemed to understand. His ears rang from the roar but his hearing was slowly returning, with a shoving motion he pushed himself off the dragon and winced as his knees cracked and he ended up sitting on the ground beside Alduin, causing the Harlow and his glowing eyes to vanish. The others words made him stiffen, he turned his head to stare at him, “ I beg your fucking pardon? ” He asked still irritated.

He was deafened by the roar, pain tore through him and as Alduin’s words fell upon deaf ears, Viper saw how those eyes looked at him and he wouldn’t stand it. He threw himself on the dragon, grabbing and twisting his shirt in his hand, pressing the length of his arm against his throat threatening to crush it as he pushed him down to the ground. Viper’s face was inches from Alduin’s, looming over him the contact made his eyes red, glowing and burning with rage, as the marker halo circled the back of his head in all its glory, “ Shut. Up. ” He snarled, “ I don’t want to hear your shitty arguments, stop making me out to be a liar and a fool, I won’t be made to be either of those! ”

Because if I wasn’t I would have been wanted! I would have been praised and cared for! If I wasn’t useless I wouldn’t be what I am now! ” His voice was raising, but then Alduin added the cherry on top of saying what he meant by mate and Viper’s rage erupted; the human didn’t think of the consequences, his anger controlled him and his leg whipped out hard and kicked him in the groin as hard as he could. “ FUCK OFF!! ” He roared.

He felt frustrated, he wasn’t listening to him. “ I’m a shitty human! But then it suddenly clocked and he froze up, “ I don’t have any true potenti— Wait hold up, did you say mate? ” He questioned looking more than shocked up at the dragon. “ The fuck do you mean mate?! ” He exclaimed, “ Ah I don’t want to work for those old bastards either! And I’m not taking a stupid test! If you want to kill me just fucking do it you thick skulled asshole! ” Oh his self preservation was all but thrown out the window, he was fed up of being ignored and he knew he probably wouldn’t even be able to run from him either.

Viper was sceptical, “ And what are you going to give me in exchange for doing that? Why would I work with you when it would get me targeted and killed? Besides why would the mighty Alduin work with a mere defective human? ” He retorted, “ I wouldn’t be your second in command, that goes against everything you are. Don’t lie to me. ” He hissed. Why would a dragon like him want to do anything with him? He had to be lying, he wasn’t strong, he was weak, defective, hated, and unwanted. “ I don’t have any of the qualifications to work with you, I’d be better suited to a daedric Prince than a dragon god. ” He would rather align himself with Hermaeus Mora than Alduin, although he did like dragons, he just didn’t want to be used.

But when Alduin spoke next Viper froze up, unpleasant memories crept into his mind and his gaze turned cold and cruel, “ Fuck off, I’m not being a tool. If you’re going to make me a tool just fucking kill me. I refuse to be that. ” He declared brazenly.

The events could change, just like they already had, Alduin never took human form before, so why now? “ I can agree they’re idiots. ” He muttered, always having hated how the Blades wanted the dragons to die. Viper eyed Alduin up sceptically, “ I still don’t believe it. ” He replied before he snorted and tilted his head to the side, “ Congrats on taking my dragon virginity. ” He remarked sarcastically, a stupid joke he expected nothing in response of. “ Seriously though, I don’t know what you’re on about. I don’t have power, knowledge maybe, but power? No… I’m weak, I know that, you could all to easily kill me just like anything else. But I’m alive, I’ve survived and… that’s enough. ” Why was he rambling like this? “ Why are you so insistent? What do you even want from me? ”
