September 12, 2023: Rice is thrown as an offering on a statue of Buddha during the Pancha Dan festival in Bhaktapur, Nepal. Pancha Dan, the festival of five summer gifts, is a day when devotees donate five commodities they consider essential for their well-being, which are unhusked paddy, rice grains, pulses, salt and money. This is pretty cool if you <3 William Blake as much as we do: we ran into these images of three plates from the Book of Job on McGill University Library's Rare Books and Special Collections on JSTOR, so we compared them to the actual prints from the Cleveland Museum of Art collection on JSTOR. And both collections are open and free to everyone!
