Earlier this year: *diagnosed with combined type ADHD*

*is hopeful that with an actual diagnosis, it will be easier to acquire care*

*learns more about the demanding medical appointment and cost requirements to be adequately treated for ADHD*

*learns there is therapy & techniques for ADHD management but some people may need medication to see a difference*

*is told about a medication that might help with adult ADHD which is not a stimulant*

*gets information from a reliable counselor, however they cannot prescribe medications*

Earlier this month: *calls my general doctor's office to confirm it is possible for them to prescribe this recommended medication*

*they say yes and schedule an appointment*

Earlier today: *appointment day comes & after waiting for an hour and a half to get to a room, they say it's not possible for my doctor to prescribe this, and there has been a miscommunication*

*explains: I'm doing all of this to find a solution for someone with ADHD but without medical insurance, who does not have the ability to afford appointments every 3 months as required for stimulant pills*

*Is told I need to get diagnosed and started on a medication from a psychiatrist before my doctor will consider just refilling this non-stimulant through their office*

*Staff know they have fucked up, wasted my time, and mislead me, so they waive the office fee and attempt to contact the office where I was diagnosed in order to consolidate records*

A multi-year journey of discovering an actual solution for my brain is ongoing and looking hopeless around every corner, not resolvable anytime soon.
