Something that I've thought of is that it would be fun if after a tournament is over and a winner is declared that other entries that weren't in the bracket could come "challenge" the champion. And then if the new song wins other songs could come challenge that one, etc.
I’m like a year late but wait during the anime ED competition did no one submit Fly Me to the Moon from Evangelion…?
It’s never too late for anime music ^_^
And I had to look it up but there were 2 submissions for that one. Due to how the numbers worked out only songs with 3 or more submissions got into the tournament (or prelims). Im not cut out for running tourneys larger than 64 contestants so there were lots of good submissions that didn’t make it. Many such cases 🥲
You can find all the submissions on this spreadsheet here if youre interested!

Let's Talk About Missing Persons
So, I've seen this post circulating last week, and a few others like it in the past year. I think this probably needs to be discussed every few years, and it feels like time.
First, a few caveats: there are reports on the post that Abby has been located and is fine, so no need to reblog and also that's great news, I'm very happy she is safe. Second, I did not especially doubt the veracity of the post, so I'm not impugning the people who made and posted it, but I also declined to reblog it for reasons I'll get into. Third, I know that especially in marginalized communities it can be dangerous to involve the police, and that Missing White Woman Syndrome means it can be difficult to get media coverage. I understand why Abby's community may have chosen to search for her in the way they did.
However, for everyone's safety, I do not link any missing persons post that requires you to contact an individual to report the missing person's whereabouts. If the poster doesn't ask you to contact the police or a known missing persons organization, I won't do it.
This is for the safety of the missing person.
When you see a post with someone's photo, name, and last known whereabouts, and you are asked to contact an individual -- a family member, partner, friend, etc -- what you are being asked to do is report on the whereabouts of one person you don't know to another person you don't know. You don't know that the person you're talking to isn't an abusive partner or parent, a stalker, or a person who means them material harm. One of the Insta accounts in the missing image doesn't appear to exist, and another has no bio and very little captioning on their images. I couldn't verify that Abby even knew these people.
Again: when I looked at the image, it looked sincere to me. I didn't doubt those people were earnestly searching for a friend they were worried about. But also, an abuser doesn't look like an abuser until they do. So I don't make exceptions, because a missing person is missing but a victim outed to their abuser has strong odds of being murdered. The most dangerous time in the life of an abused person is when they are leaving their abuser. Even if a victim simply logs on to say "Hey, I'm fine, these people mean me harm" the abuser has now flushed them out of hiding, and manipulated them into making a public statement.
If you can't verify positively that the person searching does not mean the missing person harm, you should not be circulating a post, full stop. At the very least, if the community doesn't wish for the help of the police (understandable) or can't get the help of an organization or community (frequent), the missing persons poster should advise you to speak to the missing person, not the searcher, and notify them they're being sought, as long as it's safe for both you and them to do so.
This isn't intuitive. We want to help, and search posters like that tug on the heartstrings. We know that when the police get involved even in something this innocuous, it can be perilous for everyone. But in situations where someone is so vulnerable, we have to concern ourselves first with harm reduction, which in this case means not spreading someone's photo with a stranger's contact information on it.
I'm glad Abby was found and is fine and that her searchers were in earnest. But that will not always be the case, and it's important to remember that.

For Finnish folk dress you need the public Facebook group "Kansallispuku - Folkdräkt". They have albums for everything: whole outfits, details, accessories, etc... all labeled according to region. Real photos taken by real people.
(Please remember that you can't mix and match with finnish folk dress, its against the etiquette. You can't take a vest from outfit A and a skirt from outfit B. Take the whole outfit or mix parts of it with modern clothes, but dont mix two outfits together.)

Something like this would be so colossally helpful. I'm sick and tired of trying to research specific clothing from any given culture and being met with either racist stereotypical costumes worn by yt people or ai generated garbage nonsense, and trying to be hyper specific with searches yields fuck all. Like I generally just cannot trust the legitimacy of most search results at this point. It's extremely frustrating. If there are good resources for this then they're buried deep under all the other bullshit, and idk where to start looking.

There is a radio programme/podcast called More Or Less (from the BBC) that is very accessible and digestible, and its all about this stuff. Helps a lot at getting you more used to the numbers in the news.
Another trick I have learnt from listening to that show is to ask the question "is that a big number?" Kind of related to the "100% increase from 1 is 2, aka not a big number" but it also works with other kinds of numbers. For example, if a headline screams that "10,000 X are currently Y!" you ask yourself "is that a big number?" and then find out how many X are there in total,or how many X were Y previously. If there are 20,000 of X total, then 10,000 is a big number! But if there are 20 million of X total, then 10,000 is a very small number.
Of course sometimes a small number matters too. Like if the headline is "7 members of the Finnish parliament are openly fascist" then that's bad, even though 7 out of 200 is a small number, because the correct amount of openly or secretly fascist members of parliament is zero. But it's still important to know whether something is a big or a small number.
Heres the thing you gotta understand about statistics.
“Increases your chances by 80%” does not mean “there is now an 80% chance”.
If your chances were previously 10%, your chances are now 18%, not 90%.
if your chances were roughly 1%, they’re now just slightly less than 2%.
thats how that works.

This is a very special Electrode, and not just because it's shiny.
I was playing through Ruby many years ago, and while grabbing the Master Ball from the Magma Hideout I decided to fight the Electrodes next to it. First one I encounter is shiny, the full old-school 1/8192 odds. But it also knows Self-Destruct. Meaning, to guarantee the capture, I had to use the Master Ball I just picked up. So I did.
And today, I went through the rigamarole to move it across generations. First I moved it from Emerald (where I'd traded it to a while back) to HeartGold through the Pal Park. Then from HeartGold to Black2 through the Pokemon Transfer Lab. Then from Black2 to Omega Ruby through the PokeTransporter/Bank (so I could get the Time Travel Award from the Director). From Omega Ruby back to Bank, from Bank to Home, and finally from Home to Violet.
