Do other writers ever get this like, hyper-specific dialogue exchange drop into their brains and you know exactly where these character are standing and what they’re doing and how they’re saying these words but that’s all you get. You don’t have much other context and this specific moment that exists only at this time in your headspace??

It’s the only time me and this individual have ever touched. To revisit it is a huge dream match of mine. It was 2006 maybe. It was a tag match," he began. "Me and Billy Suede vs. Bryan Danielson and Sid Sylum. It’s the only time I’ve ever faced Bryan Danielson. A tag match in Vancouver. He did that spinning back Tiger Mask kick to me, in the jaw, and it was like, ‘Aw, dude.’ It rocked my world. It was brutal. It was also like, ‘Bryan stiffed the shit out of me. This is sweet.’"

When I was I going to indie shows in 03-04, maybe even before that. He’s from Aberdeen, which a quick drive from British Columbia, so a lot of his first indie shows after he came back from Texas were in BC. The local promoter was using him a lot when he first came out with the mask and was American Dragon. I was like, ‘Who is this guy? He’s incredible.’ In 05 when I started training, he was the Ring of Honor Champion and had that epic run. You knew this guy was the guy, for sure."

Kyle O’Reilly discusses Bryan Danielson and the one time he faced him. (It was actually in May of 2007, NWA ECCW in Vancouver, British Columbia.)

of the tyler black roh matches i've watched so far my favorites have been the "jimmy jacobs tries to navigate a situation involving his 3 messy exes" ones

I must not mock Gen Alpha. Mocking Gen Alpha is the mind killer. Mocking Gen Alpha is the little-death that brings total generational solidarity obliteration. I will engage with Gen Alpha lovingly. I will permit them to be cringe. And when they grow up I will turn my eye to their accomplishments. Where mocking has gone there will be nothing. Only generational solidarity remains

thought about this again
2021 Seth explicitly does shitty things for reasons he can't explain. He curb stomps Edge's neck because he knows it's a classic escalation of his behavior, but once he actually does it, he's horrified by his own behavior. I love that you can literally see his face change as he realizes what he's done. The visionary persona is very performative, and here, he's been lost in the performance. Who is the performance for, though? Literally, and kind of meta-y, it's for the audience. He knows he's doing shitty things, and he's doing them because he's a heel, it's what he does. In this moment, though, he's forced to remember his personhood outside of the visionary character. Backstage, he asks the interviewer what she thinks of him: how will his actions will be interpreted by the audience he does everything for? If she (and therefore they) can accept his behavior, he'll be fine! He's totally good, super great at doing visionary things, yeah. He doesn't know who he is, and he does things because they're what he thinks he's supposed to do.
In retrospect, so many of the vanilla babyface things seth does in 2019 come off as him doing the Thing He's Supposed To Do. He has his big wrestlemania moment taking down a monster, he cries at summerslam while winning the title back, he gets the girl. However, doing what he's supposed to infamously doesn't work out for him. Not for any storyline reason, we all know he a) got booked poorly and b) was really annoying. That frames his 2019 heel turn nicely- within the ring, he did everything right, but it just wasn't good enough. He wasn't good enough. Even though the audience was so prepared to love him, some intangible, immutable quality about him just made it impossible for them to do so. i mean, i'd have a 3 year long psychotic breakdown too lolol
the psychotic breakdown and him being really annoying are both also caused by his ex leaving him forever btw
oh it's actually SUPER fun to analyze seth's 2019 babyface behavior through the lens of both his 2021-2022 peak heel behavior and 2023 babyface run. hm
