Dnd oneshot idea: You and the evil necromancer king or whatever are amicably divorced, and you must fight through his dark legions and best his tricks and traps in order to reach his castle, all so you can drop off your son because he has custody for the weekend.

Given the bajillion different interpretations of vampires out there, in your opinion which flaw is the most fundamental to them and should be present in every adaptation?

ghjhghj these books are canonically being tape recorded by Sethra. For money. And they're dropping this revelation sixteen books into the series? I mean clearly this isn't true for all of them, but this text implies that at least one of the other books was also tape recorded, likely multiple. In one of the earlier books (pretty sure it was Athyra, which notably was not first person) Vlad mentions that he once met some guy who paid him cash to tell his life story, and at the time I assumed that was a nod to the first-person narrative of the prior novels, but given that this book (Tsalmoth) takes place chronologically before that, I'm assuming that either that wasn't what the "some guy" was actually referring to, or this is a soft retcon. Mind you, at least one of the other more recent books (I couldn't tell you which one, sorry) also directly addressed an unseen but in-universe audience, so the idea that these are being recorded isn't coming out of nowhere, but look, I'm just a little thrown that Sethra has been recording these, that she's been doing so since before the events of Jhereg, and that if this metanarrative device is meant to be extrapolated out to all the books, then she very likely is continuing to do so through present continuity. From this text I'm willing to say that at least two of the books are meant to be in-universe recordings, although it's more likely that the intended implication is that all of them are. (Well all of Vlad's first-person ones at least, probably not Athyra or Orca.) I mean I guess no one other than Sethra would do all of this, so fair enough, but this is a hell of a thing to just put here. Or maybe this particular metanarrative is more contained than that, I guess we'll see.
