That study break lethargy is hitting hard, and all I want to do is take a nap despite having 20 billion things to do.

My extracurricular research projects, despite being fun, is taking over my life a bit. I’m hoping to get as much done as possible this week before school starts up again (much sooner than I’d like), but I’m also letting myself rot a bit sometimes — I deserve it.

Started working on my presentation and graphics that I need to do by tomorrow, it’s not as much as it looks but it can be really tedious. I had remote class today so I was able to use that time to work while listening to it

after every good week of research and being the bravest soldier, there comes the crash

I was still doing pretty well in the morning but then I came home and got completely discouraged by the useless stuff I had to do for one of my classes. the absolute basic level of knowledge I'm supposed to gather there is just annoying. that time would be better spent working on my actual thesis or even just going to the gym

so yeah. now I'm annoyed and frustrated and tomorrow I'll be bored at uni again. ugh. need to find something to go during the useless class

btw it was a tea king of a day, i chose some grape one that came from Czech Republic apparently ✨

24.04.2024 // slowly becoming one with this desk. the wires bother me a lot so i've sought advice from a friend on how to organise them better. hopefully, they'll stop looking like such dump. a colleague also donated her french press to the office, which means that i don't have to spend $10 on coffee everyday because frankly, that is utterly absurd and I had, in fact, stopped drinking coffee for a while. but can't do without that caffeine; it keeps me functioning.

Grad school is lying to you. You can indulge fixations on obscure topics on your own time. You can sit in a library color-coding notes on articles printed from JSTOR for free. You can argue with dead philosophers in essay format whenever you like. Academia is a state of mind.

sometimes ya girl just feels restless and needs to move around and get a change of scenery! and that's okay!

Coding feels social to me in a weird way because so much time is spent reading other people’s words. Not just the guides and tutorials but also the code itself.

Programs are little notes we write to each other that just so happen to also compile. The human reader comes first, the machine reader is secondary. When you write a variable name, you’re telling me how you define words. When you write a function, you’re telling me how you solve problems.

I love learning how other people think through reading their code. It can be funny or horrifying or beautiful or deeply moving. Maybe they call it a software library because it holds our stories.
