Break oh boi oh boi Man, Cortes is the anti-angst... I don't think she can't break down--like...emotionally nor physically lmao. Maybe at most, she'd be put into a position where she can't be anything other other than What She Is, but the events surrounding such a situation would probably mean there's no one and nothing left to observe it. Margie's a bit of a sad one to ever see break down, because she has so, so, so many layers of defensive optimism, and scenarios in her head that she can escape into. I think, though, if she were ever to lose her ability to play music--that'd do it for her. It's part of why she was so very concerned about her hands after the whole Smelt Bay incident. it's unfathomable to imagine what she'd do or who she'd be if she couldn't play piano anymore. She'd find other ways to make music, of course--but that's such a core part of her identity. I don't even think she would cry, the light in her eyes would just kinda disappear. If you want to see her cry though, that's easy. Just yell at her, or task her with completing something she's good at but set an impossible deadline. She'll cry lots, then.

Raf's breakdown would be the sort that gets him committed for self endangerment. Afterwards, he'd just disappear. Fully. If Margie had never come home following the aforementioned Smelt Bay incident--I do actually think that mighta done it for him.

Cortes: a mask she wears... Well, she's im a place where she should probably shouldn't belong...making her best attempts at becoming a member of various species that -do- belong there. Why? It's hard to say.

Raf: Mistake....oh man, there are so many. I think most recent in his mind, though--of the mistakes he had that he feels he had control/autonomy over...is definately the way he treated his ex. While Margie has never heard him yell, he and Lacey use to yell at each other almost daily during their worst weeks. He'd accuse her of stuff he had no proof of, just based on her tone of voice, or her mood, etc. She had her own basket of issues, and if she ever felt mildly annoyed or inconvenienced by his behavior, she would try to provoke a more severe response/overreaction by doing or saying something that was arguabley benign but that she knew he'd "misinterpret" or read too much into--just so that she could feel justified in being upset with him. Problem is, even when he knew it was bait, he'd feed into it. And then he'd call her out [in no kindly manner] for being manipulative, and she'd get offended, and so on and so forth. But sometimes...a lot of times...his misreadings and consiquent digs at her were unprovoked. And in those instances, her only crime was lacking the emotional intelligence required to diffuse the situation and would spit venom right back at him in defense. Oh, he got so fucking mean.

He's genuinely, really ashamed of how he behaved with her. Moreso since he recognizes he still has a propensitity to make snipey, deliberately hurtful comments/judgements at his loved ones during his more insecure moments and that, perhaps, the only thing preventing him from repeating the same mistakes he made with Lacey--is -Margie's- ability to say nothing and give him the space to sort his shit out. If she retaliated at all in defence, he's not confident enough in his ability to self-regulate to believe that he'd be able to identify himself as the problem on time to avoid causing significant damages. He's trying, though.

Margie: Pain? Margie has never broken a bone or anything like that... But she has been raked over a bed of oysters and swept out into the very, very cold ocean and...nearly[???] drowned from cold exhaustion all in the same night. That's probably the most pain she's ever experienced, haha. She has a high pain tolerance--in that she'll complain just as much about a paper cut as she will about having her hands sliced into hamburger. That is to say, she will complain a lot... but she'll also still make funny little quips about it to downplay the situation and assert that, despite her whing, it's really no big deal lmao

I really missed Hi-Note's birthday by a whole month and some extra days hey?

Lark sketched some guys that have been living in our head the past week. no real story concept, just characters who are roommates, trying to get by the first lad is a violinist who was a highly publicized child prodigy, got extremely burnt out in his late teens/early 20’s and is now entering his 30’s with a spite-driven apathy towards any manner of professional pretension. He’s never been able to give up music cus it’s all he knows, but now he’s gonna be cringe on purpose. He’ll play what ever trite, repetitive mainstream sounding garbage he *wants* to. Second lass is ALSO a musician, was discouraged to pursue it as a career but pursued it anyways and uuuh hasn’t quite made it yet… She travels, busks, couch surfs and uploads videos to social media hoping that it’ll land her something somewhere. She’s been trying to save up for to go to music school for years, but one expense or another always crops up to drain her savings. Third lass is Cortes, named after the island off the coast of British Columbia, whose shores she was found on. She’s normal  don’t worry about it

Margie would absolutely be on tumblr and probably IS on tumblr by 2009/2010, definitely. Funnily, I don't think she'd be tumblr famous by any stretch, but she'd reblog a ton of kirby fandom stuff, is probably active in the bugblr tag, and shitposts a ton about music and memes. I don't think she'd use tumblr to promote TBH or any of the music she does with Raf at all. She avoids sharing too much about her personal life or anything that could lead people to follow her in search of...yanno...Raf-related content.

Truth be told, Raf isn't very comfy...about...her being so connected/active on social media platforms, but that's just one of those shitty, intrusive discomforts he knows he needs to keep to himself. Yet--he's a lot less bothered about Tess being on...fuckin'...vine n shit tho for some reason--but that's cuz even if he appears in one of her videos, no one recognizes him or cares because Tess commands the attention to such an effect that it's as though no one can even identify him (strange...)

My face is having uncontrollable spasms. Great. It hurts really, really, really bad.

I think part of why I have trouble explaining pain to the doctor is when they ask about the pain scale I always think “Well, if someone threw me down a flight of stairs right now or punched me a few times, it would definitely hurt a lot more” so I end up saying a low number. I was reading an article that said that “10” is the most commonly reported number and that is baffling to me. When I woke up from surgery with an 8" incision in my body and I could hardly even speak, I was in the most horrific pain of my life but I said “6” because I thought “Well, if you hit me in the stomach, it would be worse.”
