Fireworks erupted overtop the city's centre where the giant hole usually could be found. Except now it was filled with a huge stadium! When had that happened!? As was often tradition in Spirale, plenty early risers would have their beauty sleep disturbed by the blaring of an announcement over the electronic devices in their possession.

"That's right, Jonathan! This is an exciting year for the Spirale Games! Well it's the first year, but that's what makes it so exciting!" Anything with a screen would have displayed video of Ofiuco's android body sitting at a sportscasting desk. But there was no one else present so who was she talking to? "We have a number of exciting events for teams to sign up for and we can't wait to see you out there!"

Of course the implication was that if they didn't see them out there then those who didn't participate wouldn't be reaping any of the rewards!

Welcome to our April / May event, the Spiral Games! As you can imagine we've taken inspiration from major sporting events, but this is closer to a celebration of many different skills and only some of the events are based on athleticism! You can find a full list of the events here so that this post isn't too cluttered!

So how is everything going to work?

Characters can participate in some events alone, but we encourage everyone to form teams of up to four characters! All of the team members don't need to participate in every thread if you don't want to but the option is there if you'd like! Teams will have no bearing on rewards (but it will make them easier) so there also isn't a limit of how many teams a character can be in to prevent a scenario where some characters are let out just because some people made teams early on.

If you would like to, you can give your team a name and even design a logo!

On the event list page you can see a list of events and the rewards you can earn from participating! Rewards can only be claimed by the team members who participate, so if you choose to do a one person drabble then only you get those rewards!

You can participate in as many events as you want, but the amount of Stars one character can earn from the event is capped at 500 Stars. This does not include the regular amount you get for event participation.

There will also be an unlock reward for this event, however there is a stipulation to this. In order to claim the unlock you must write at least 300 words with at least one character on your account that your muse has yet to interact with. So long as the thread is event related it will count, which is where teams could certainly help!

Simple is good, but she also doesn't want to bore him. Ari considers the deck with a finger tapping at her chin, before brightening. Ah- yeah, that'll do!

"Alright so, startin' game's called War," she says, reaching for the cards. She makes two stacks- leaving it unshuffled for now- and sets them across from each other. "When y' play war, both folks turn over a card at th' same time. Higher number takes both cards an' adds them t' their deck. If th' cards are tied, then that means war. When that happens..." She takes a card from each stack and sets them aside. "Then y' each set a card face-down, an' then flip another card from th' stack. Winner takes all six cards. Game ends when one person's taken all th' cards, or someone gives up, I suppose."

Pulling all the cards back together, she begins shuffling them carefully, beaming up at him.

"Whaddaya think? Wanna give it a shot?"

"simple for startin' out is fine by me!" the card game he had in mind had its own set of rules that could be changed, altering the play style of it all while keeping the same basics. surely this was a similar deal. then again, this world made plenty of simplistic things seem overly complicated.

"i've got some knowledge on how fussy a few card game rules can be, i'm sure i can learn to manage my way through 'em when i get the chance." at least he was hoping he'd be able to. as ari holds out her hand dar gives it a quick glance before extending his own and taking hold, his own lips curling into a smile to match the brightness given.

"same to ya, ari! i've a good feelin' ya'll keep a spark in any game taught."

Shifting the containers in her arms, Ari sighs as she takes back the plate, shaking her head. Of course it'd be the one things she didn't have enough lidded containers for that'd decide to take issue with gravity.

(Or, more accurately, the lack of space it really had atop the stack given what else was in the way.)

"You're awful quick," she adds, considering the containers in her arms carefully. "Hmm... I was gonna hand these out t' some folks anyway so..." Picking out a small box from the pile carefully, she offers it out.

"Here. Y' can have these as thanks for keepin' me from topplin' everythin' trynna save those cookies."

A second after he's shouted the warning, instincts kick in as Wang Yi dashes forward to catch a plateful of cookies sliding dangerously towards the carpet.

One, two, four, eight...

By the time he's straightened up with all the sweets rescued, the woman he's helped has taken care of the rest by herself. She's got...man, a lot of baked goods on her. Wang Yi offers her plate back, a little pleased at his own recovery skills.

"...nice, I still got it."

"Hmmm, well, I'll look into it, then. If nothin' else, it can't exactly hurt to give it a shot, right?" They're a lot more alike than either of them realize, given their general desire to help people. Though Klaus might be a bit more... forgiving than Ari's really capable of.

"Where'd you say th' place was again? I'll drop by."

"You have a point." Work was work, though he supposed in his case he enjoyed what did. He enjoyed working at the pharmacy when Baizhu was running it and he enjoys working at Lionheart as well. He liked protecting the people and being of use to them.

He smiles and nods, "It would be rather nice to see you there." and he's sure Corvus would appreciate another person to help out!

"Jus' meant you're younger'n I thought," Ari clarifies, watching him with a degree of increasing amusement. "Don't mean nothin' by it." Of course, she's easily swayed by someone younger than her sounding that excited about the possibility of food. She can't help but wonder if he's been getting properly fed.

"...I mean. I guess, if you're hungry? Might take me a lil' bit t' make somethin', 'less y' jus' want takeout?"

"...I cannot believe we're talkin' bout th' same bitch," Ari groans, dropping her forehead into her hand. "But yeah, that's th' guy. Ugh, he makes me feel grateful for th' angels I know, which is wild considerin' how snobby an' condescendin' that bunch can get."

She makes a face, shaking her head.

"Well, sounds like someone beat me to it even if it prolly ain't do much good."

Another shake of her head, disbelieving.

"Wish I understood what Klaus sees in th' guy. Lord, I hope he ain't trynna fix him- don't think that's possible without breakin' th' guy down ta th' foundations, so t' speak."

" Hah I wish but I seriously doubt that asshat learnt anything... I don't know if he ever will either, really. "

Klaus might be the one that had to do that lesson.... well, Eiden doesn't know but he's way more receptive towards him anyhow.

" But huh! People sure got tough time picking their sweethearts these days.... not that I'm one to talk about but huh... almost like we're talking about the same guy here? Yours wouldn't happen to be an angel too? "

"Oh my lord, please don't," Ari mutters, bringing a hand to shield her face as if she can preemptively stop such a thing from happening. "I don't want him thinkin' I'm weirdly oglin' him or nothin'..."

Ari's not surprised to be corrected, though she can't help but crack a small smile at the way he talks about him.

"Oh- no, th' one here, darlin'. I think if I got stuck in ice back home, I'd file a complaint directly with management." Her finger points skyward as she says 'management', wiggling it a bit for emphasis.

"Though... why'd ya sound so excited about that? Can't imagine it'd be fun-?"

"Cute?" Sun blinks and looks over at Ari. He smirks and nods, "I'll let him know you said that." That's probably not why she said that.

Sun stifles a laugh actually. Sure, Nezha could be someone who got himself in trouble, but compared to Sun? Nah, he was more of a guy who thought through thoroughly of his actions.

"He's an idiot, but he's pretty good at thinking things through before doing something."

"Damn, you were trapped to at one point?" That's a good way to bond with someone. Trapped and iced in solidarity!

"There's more-!?" Really, it must be odd that she looks so delighted bt the possibility, but there it is. She can't really help it though, she loves animals as much as the next person, of course- but there's a difference between being able to talk to animals and this.

"That's right." Given that this island pulled everyone from different worlds, he would hardly call that a silly question. It just wasn't something commonplace where she was from, he'd hazard a guess.

"Get used to it. There seems to be a small selection of my acquaintances here." And rivals.

Having been more than ready to simply walk off and let herself cool down, she's halted by the request. And while she gets that he means well, and that he hadn't meant to hurt her feelings, something about the way he puts it only makes her angrier. Lifting her chin as she turns to look back at him, she can feel her expression turning more hurt despite her efforts to simply look angry.

"Don't be so fuckin' full'a yourself- it ain't about th' date." She says the word like it disgusts her, but it's the best she can do to hide her feelings. "It's about th' fact that y' think playin' with someone's feelings like that's funny. Or what, my feelings just that good of a joke t' you?"

Clenching her jaw shut, she shakes her head, turning away again.

"Never mind, I can't deal with this when I'm this worked up. I'll... see ya 'round, maybe."

ah, fuck.

her face falls and Titus immediately knows he's messed up, his laughter fading and brow furrowing. right now, this isn't the Ari that he'd laughed and joked with earlier while getting ready, nudging her out of the way so he could use the mirror, snagging the eyeliner from her when she was finished. this wasn't the reaction he'd expected from his joke, either; what had been something casual and whimsical in his mind obviously had not translated very well.

was it...that she had actually wanted to go on a date?

...no, it had to be more than that. the slight glimmer of tears forming in her eyes spoke volumes.

"Ari, wait, I--" he places his hands on his knees demurely, avoiding eye contact with her. if she started crying there's no way he'd recover. "It was just a dumb joke, yeah? At least, I didn't think it'd come out so, uh...harsh, I guess? You're gonna ignore me over a date?"

"Uh." What did she just witness? Do people like this really exist? She always thought that kind of thing was TV hyperbole. "...well. Um. Y' seem kinda busy with all'a that."

She gives an apologetic look, and then tries to make her way around the ruined canvas. "Sorry about your... paintin'? I think? I'm sure your friend'll understand if y' need more time t' fix it."

Aaaaand, she spills it. The entire paint on the canvas! Thats what she gets for staring a little too long AND then panicking because of it. Perhaps this will teach her a lesson to watch what she's doing.

For now,

Hanabi holds back an ear piercing scream and instead makes a devasting groan and a pathetic, "Oh nooooo," fills the probably comedic silence in the air.

"Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, hhhhhghh. I can't give this to Mister Wolfwood the way it is."
