ramble incoming but i would rather have watts miserable but on the show than happy but never present again i'm sorry🙏🙏 part of that is definitely because i literally loathe the fucking trope of like. everyone needs to have children which they wanted SO HARD they literally made their infertile mc get miraculously pregnant. but with that it's like. i don't like it but it's still groundbreaking to have a gay mc raising a baby with his boyfriend like I wouldn't hate that coz obviously that's an important thing to include but then that'd have to be. yknow. included. like making him fuck off to nyc to be happy with his family off screen is, to me, worse than having him be single and sad on screen bc once again just like with emily it's essentially like. gay people can be happy but only if they're not in the show. *pause to calm down before i go on a massive tangent abt how everyone involved in the decision to kill lillian should die* so like what i would want them to do ideally is for him to find his own happiness in a way that works with the plot which i thinnnk they might be trying to do with him finally recognising that he's not happy and prioritising trying to find himself for once instead of focusing on the needs of other people which is fucking epic to see. now there's also the fact that all of these people are cops even if they're 1895. i mean. 1910 cops (jesus christ👴) while watts is literally a marxist like it was already hard to believe he'd stay on as a cop but it's even harder now. and this is not something i see a way out of other than him becoming a P.I. but i think they're just gonna ignore everything and make him go back to being a detective like nothing happened LMAO but i'm hoping if that happens he will at least be (even) more vocal abt the unfairness of everything they're doing. so like tldr this is a fucking mess and there's like no way they're gonna be able to realistically have watts stay in the plot but. i want them to. stomping and crying
